Using the Touchpad/Trackpad on Windows XP

I have bought a macbook 2.4Ghz 13" and I was wondering is there a way to activate the touchpad on windows.
Example: If you want to left click on something you need to CLICK on the touchpad not just touch it.
I read somewhere that there are some additional softwares to Win Xp that can be installed to get the touchpad working.

It will work fine. Anything that works on Intel x86 architecture will work with Athlon stuff.

Yes. After Windows/Bootcamp discovers your bluetooth device (Magic Trackpad or Mouse, be sure to make it discoverable), right click, with your wired mouse, of course, on the icon and select Properties.
Then check the mouse drivers box and your device should work. (I located this solution on another thread)
It works for both the Magic Mouse and Magic Trackpad.
Must admit, the solution was not intuitive within the Windows environment. But we all must remember. It IS Windows, after all.
Another thing. Keep in mind that the gestures on these devices that work just dandy in OSX do not carry over into Windows.

I can't scroll in Firefox using the touchpad on my Window 7 (64-bit) laptop. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the most recent touchpad driver from the manufacturers website but this does not resolver the issue. Any suggestions?

Thx for suggestion... but it is two fingers on this one, and please note that scrolling works fine in Chrome and IE... the issue seem to be related to Firefox browser in some way.

I can't use the touchpad and type at the same time

My laptop is a Lenovo ideapad s510p touch windows 8.1
I'm trying to play games on my laptop but it's impossible because I can't move with the keyboard while looking around using the touchpad. When I go to mouse properties, device settings, and settings I get a completely different screen from what other people get

And I don't have an option for palm check either instead I have palm tracking and when I lower that all the way nothing changes. Someone please help.

Using the touchpad; charms and a small box on bottom left pop up

I have an HP Envy m6-1125dx laptop. Sometimes when I use the touchpad both Charms and a small box that shows date and battery indicator pop up together. I have a feeling that a part of my hand is touching the bottom causing this. What do I need to do to stop those 2 boxes popping up?

T60 freezes when using the touchpad or nub.......

T60p, Windows Vista Business, ATI, 4GB. Freezes when I use the touchpad or the nub, I removed the palmrest/fingerprint reader from the machine, move the nub, freezes. Replaced PR/FP reader, removed keyboard, used the touchpad, freezes. Will work flawlessly with a USB mouse. Finally got through the Package Index Server, but bad battery will not let me complete the BIOS update download. Updated everything else, Windows/drivers, reformatted the whole system, started everything as if new from the factory. Sometimes it wont make it through the WIndows progress meter. Any ideas?

DEAD BATTERY!!!! Removed dead battery, performed without a flaw, replaced the battery, froze up... Who knew????

Use the command "Properties" in Windows Explorer to unlock the file

I'm getting this error where, when I start Photoshop, I get a popup saying "Cannot load Photoshop because the file is locked or you don't have the needed privileges.. Use the command "Properties" in Windows Explorer to unlock the file". I unlocked it's access to everyone for the 64-bit and the 32-bit version, still doesn't work. The only way to make it work is by going in Program Files>Adobe>Adobe Photoshop CS5 (64-bit) and manually starting it as an administrator.
Everything was working just fine until today. Please help!

If this worked before, and you have made no hardware or software changes you might want to reset the preferences.
Start photoshop and IMMEDIATELY hold down the Alt + Ctrl + shift keys. It is a little tricky but keep trying until you get a reset window.

Can I disable the internal trackpad if I am using the magic trackpad

Yes, It's in System Preferences > Universal Access > Mouse & Trackpad tab > check "ignore internal trackpad when external mouse or trackpad present.

Is it possible to use the microphone dictation in windows based program? I have tried dictating into Pages and copying and pasting, but the Windows based (Allscripts EHR) recognizes only the first attempt to copy and paste. Any future copying results on the first pasted dictation to show up in the Allscripts EHR.

I understand that you cannot use the Touchpad and the key functions at the same time. Here is a document on how to troubleshoot the mouse and Touchpad gestures. In the document, it shows you how to change the settings by clicking the settings icon to adjust the button actions on the Touchpad. Sometimes this is caused by an update that is needed. Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system that might need updating. I'm looking for this same answer, I wonder if any new info. I've gone from posts saying why would anyone want to, and I now see that this is in the ATV section, which actually suits me because the setup I'm using it for is when I don't want to be up in my office on my iMac, but rather in the lounge in front of the big screen with my iPad mirrored to the Apple TV and bt keyboard connected. I wouldn't actually suggest anyone go out and buy a Magic Mouse or trackpad, but since I already have them would like to use it to make things easier when using my iPad as a mini computer with my TV as the screen. I can currently use the iPad to scroll no problem, but if I have to click somewhere specific then I must look at the iPad screen vice just moving a mouse or trackpad and having a pointer show up on my screen. Obviously if my iMac was much closer, I could mirror that screen and my keyboard and mouse would work just fine. (That is if my iMac was newer, but it's not, its a late 2009 model and that apparently is not new enough to be compatible with airplay mirroring.)

I think TouchPad should working after instalation Windows. I can't use TouchPad even if I instaling "Synaptics" in versions: 9.1.14.0 and 14.0.3.
When I install driver (thws-20070919162134) Vista show me message: "wrong serial number" so it will be this reason. If that mean number to activating Windows -it's OK.

What Equium notebook you have?
Have you installed Windows using Toshiba recovery disk? Normally if you use this disk you have the same state as you have started the notebook the first time (factory settings). That means all should work properly on your notebook.
Normally the touchpad can be enabled or disabled pressing FN+F9. Check this!!!

Why does the font size change unexpectedly when I use the touchpad with my new HP laptop with Windows 8?

Frequently the font size will change when the touchpad is touched. This is annoying! Is there a setting adjustment I can make to keep this from happening?

This is very experimental, but since no one else has replied...
I'm not sure which computers are affected, but Firefox has some support for touchpad "gestures" on multi-touch touchpads. Most of the ones that affect the zoom level of the page are the "pinching" gestures, like a smartphone screen. However, it seems that by default a "tap" will reset the zoom level, and that might be the problem here.
Could you try this?
(1) In a new tab, type or paste '''about:config''' in the address bar and press Enter. Click the button promising to be careful.
(2) In the filter box, type or paste '''gest''' and pause while the list is filtered
(3) Double-click '''browser.gesture.tap''' and change it to... I'm not sure whether there is a command for "do nothing" but you could try typing or pasting in '''cmd_selectNone''' which cancels the current text selection in the page (if any).

Organizer 12 - how to zoom over 100%, compare images, use the Magic Trackpad?

Hallo zusammen. Ich bin von Apple Aperture auf PSE 12 gewechselt. Nun habe ich meine 11500 Fotos im Organizer und ein paar Startschwierigkeiten.
Ich habe in den Voreinstellungen angegeben, dass man Fotos auf über 100% skalieren darf. Das funktioniert aber nicht. Fotos werden immer nur im Fenster eingepasst, wenn der Zoomhebel ganz nach rechts steht.
Einzig in der Vollbildansicht kann man über 100% skalieren. Dies funktioniert aber auch, wenn ich die Voreinstellung dazu nicht gesetzt habe.
ie vergleiche ich mehrere Bilder? Im Handbuch steht beschrieben, dass man dazu aus dem Menü Ansicht -> Bilder Vergleichen wählen soll. Diesen Menüpunkt gibt es bei mir nicht.
Auch bei dem Druck auf F12 geschieht bei mir nichts. Kann ich die Tastenfunktionen irgendwo neu zuweisen?
Zu guter Letzt: kann ich die Zoom & Pinch Funktion des Magic Trackpads irgendwie einschalten? Das vermisse ich sehr. Da war Aperture sehr Bedienerfreundlich.

Hi there. I switched from Apple Aperture to PSE 12. Now I have my 11500 photos in the Organizer and a few teething problems.
I have specified in the preferences that you can resize photos to over 100%. This does not work. Photos are always fitted only in the window when the zoom lever is all the way to the right.
Only in the full-screen view you can scale over 100%. However, this also works if I have not set the setting in the preferences.
How do I compare multiple images? The manual describes to select from the View menu -> Compare images. This menu item does not exist for me. (German Version)
Also by pressing F12, nothing happens. Can I re-assign the button functions somewhere?
Last but not least: How can I use the zoom & pinch from the Magic Trackpad? I 'm missing that very much. Aperture was very user friendly with that.

Zoom & Pinch only works in the Editor, but not very well or smooth. And I couldn't tell you how often the Editior rotate my images unwanted ...
In the preferences of the Organizer, there is no point for a scroll wheel. And I'm really not able to zoom in the organizer over the "fitts in screen" size.
And I've found some more problems Sometime I'd like to export my images without any Exif/Metadata Information and resized. I haven't found any point do do so.
At the Moment, I'm thinking about switching back to Aperture, where I came from - I've tried to use PSE 'cause of Adobes Raw Converter, which is much much better with Olympus RAW Files than Apertures.
