Using TO DOs

I'm having a problem with To Do items. I can create them in Mail without a problem; they also show up automatically in iCal. The issue is they don't seem to be syncing with MobileMe or on my iPhone. Maybe I'm not looking in the right place. Any help would be appreciated.

Abobe 9: Printing a PDF file using a DOS command

I have Adobe 9.4.0 on a server and would like to print PDF files using a DOS command. The DOS command we are using is:
start Acrord32.exe /T/S/h/O "C:\BO_Archival_Code_Deployment\Print\TINF018_C.pdf" "Lexmark T644 PS3 - 10.192.36.126"
With this, we are able to print only page 1 of the PDF file. The other pages remain unprinted. This means there is no issue related to printer configuration, firewalls, etc.
Other observations:
1) When we print the file manually after opening it in Adobe 9.4.0, all pages are printed.
2) We found that the above command provides different results with Adobe 8.2.6 i.e. with the DOS command, all pages are printed while using Adobe 8.
We are trying to automate some tasks for which we require the PDF files to be printed automatically through a DOS command. We are being advised to use Adobe 9 as technical support for Adobe 8 is likely to be withdrawn soon.
Please can you help.

Use several DOS command from java program

Using "Runtime.getRuntime().exec(toto.bat)" I have no problem to run a Command in my DOS window...
But the problem appear when I want to call another command in this same window from myApp.java...
In fact after executing the first command I find no way to have another access to this DOS window...
Is there any way to set the Process created by calling exec() method as the default system??
Hope my explications are clear...
Does someone have the solutions...this will help me so much...

Disk Utility - Erasing a hard drive using MS-DOS (FAT)

Hi all,
I have recently purchased a 500GB external hard drive. I have used Disk Utility to format the drive from NTFS to MS-DOS (FAT) so I can use it with Windows PC's as well as Mac's.
My issue is this.
I copied a 1.16GB file over Firewire 800 to test the speed and then deleted it. After deleting the file the info pane still reports that 1.17GB of the drive has been used.
Why is this?

Did you remember to empty the trash can? If not, the file is in the hidden directory .Trashes on the Windows drive. You don't reclaim the space until you empty the trash.

How do I stop my server from being a DNS open resolver used for DOS attacks

I just received this message:

It seems odd to me that port 53 is allowing inbound requests - a firewall should be between your server & the internet, you may want to check other services too. The internal server firewall isn't intended to be the only line of defence unless you are experienced in setting it up. NTP or other services can be used in other attacks.
I wonder if this could help… (it scans the open ports at your IP, ignore the styling of the site ).

Unable to use the keyboard in XP keys work OK when boot into dos

Unable to use the keyboard in XP. It was working for over a year OK with XP running
keys work OK when I install win98 or use a dos boot disk.
If I try to reinstall XP I can not use any of keys to input anything.

Using WEP w/ DOS based PC and 350 card.

We are currently using a DOS based PC that runs only a 5250 emulator. We connect to the network via a Cisco 350 card on a wide open wireless network. We have successfully set one of these units up to run of WEP side of our wireless. But all other units we cannot get to connect. We have tried loading all the different firmwares for the 350 card. All of the 4.x firmwares load fine and sets WEP key but won't connect to network. When we load the 5.x versions of the firmware, we get a Error Accessing Card: 8007 error when loading WEP key. We are wondering how to be able to get around this 8007 error, to be able to successfully try to connect with the newest firmware of the 350 card. Any thoughts?

If you have windows version you can use that to setup the WEP keys.For the version 5.x there is no explicit mention for the support of DOS.For using DOS version 4.x seems to work fine.The DOS utilities run well under MS-DOS 6.22. For the PCM350 and LM350 PCMCIA cards, the DOS utilities do not use card and socket services for configuring the cards; they program the PCMICIA socket directly. How to use Labview to input some DOS command

Dear everyone,
This is the first time I program external device using Labview. You may come up the solution for me in 2 seconds, but it took me more than 20 hrs and still not success.
My question is I need to control a 68HC11 device. It seems like I need to use DOS to upload a *.S19 file before I am able to talk with the device. Is there any way, I can upload the S19 file and some setting using Labview instead to go to DOS? I try to use DOS to upload S19 file and do setting FIRST and then use Labview to input command, but it doesn't success.

It seems you are using zterm from the commandline to communicate to a serial device (this is not DOS per se, you are just using a DOS window to start the zterm program).
You should be able to duplicate all that in LabVIEW by communicating directly with the serial port. Are you sure you have to program your module every time?
Apparently, F9 initiates some file transfer. Do you know what standard it uses (e.g. xmodem, zmodem, etc.)? LabVIEW does not incoroprate serial transfer utilities, but there might be utilities available elsewhere (see this note).
There should also be no problem uploading the code using zterm, then later
communicate with the device using LabVIEW by sending commands to the serial port. What do you mean exactly by "but it doesn't success". How are you communicating? What kind of errors are you getting?

Install Adobe Flash Player using Dos

I'm trying to install using only the command prompt on Windows. The best thing I could do is to usa a .BAT file to call the installation. Is there a way to install it completely using the dos?

Hi,
You can install Flash Player silently using the -install switch (FileName.exe -install). This only works with the full installers, posted at the bottom of the Installation problems | Flash Player | Windows. It does not work with the online (shim) installer downloaded from get.adobe.com/flashplayer.

I'm interested in running windows XP Pro on my Macbook Pro, but the only reason I want to is to run an older DOS financial program that I've used for years on a PC. Just wondering if one can run a DOS program on XP installed on a MacBook. Thanks.

To disagree with Mr. Peck, not all DOS programs will run in a GUI interface under XP, even using the "dos prompt" or terminal mode.
Some will not run because they are 16-bit programs that are not supported by XP's emulator and others will not run because much of the original DOS was dropped in XP.
I have some older DOS programs that will not run on my PC under XP, and I am positive that they won't run on my Mac's XP.
Try them, but create a restore point before installing them, because older DOS programs do not always register themselves properly and they are difficult to remove. Creating a restore point makes it easy to simply revert back if you discover it does not run.

WARNING: FORMATTING A DRIVE ERASES IT COMPLETELY !!
If you need to carry large files (e.g., larger than about 4GB) back and forth, you may need ExFAT. Otherwise MS-DOS works for smaller files.
The Mac can Read, but not write Windows New Technology File System (NTFS) without an add-on program such as Paragon NTFS.
