Using TomTom GPS unit with Leopard - connectivity issue

I am using a TomTom One 3rd Edition (the newest) and all the documentation from Tomtom indicates that it should be fully compatible with my Mac, but on connecting the GPS with the USB, I invariably get a spinning ball of death, which then requires a forced quit of the Tomtom HOME software.
I can't find any information about this issue on these boards, or on the wider internet. The GPS works fine, but without being able to hook it into my Mac, I can't d/l any map updates, which will definitely be a problem...

I assume TomTom Home is a program that is to run on the Mac? If so, is there an update?
You might want to sign up at TomTom for support. Their TomTom on palm support was superb, but I can't say much about the support for their own models. But it might be the best way to solve this.
Sorry I can't help more.

  • Outlook with Exchange connection issues

I am implementing a security policy which includes blocking all outbound traffic on the firewall of our network (Except normal 80, 443 etc). It seems
that if I apply this, some users aren't able to connect to exchange. This appears to be related to Outlook Anywhere. What ports would I need to allow to prevent this connection issue?

    Hi
As per the information and details provided by you, to solve the Outlook with Exchange connection issues, Please follow these steps: -
    Microsoft introduced
RPC over HHTP as a better way for Outlook client to connect to Exchange. The MAPI connections still use RPCs, but they encapsulate those with an HTTP connection. Since that HTTP connection is secured using SSL, it is may be
more accurate to call it RPC over HTTPS. These connections only require connectivity
over TCP port 443, which as you know is assigned to HTTPS and is normally open by
    firewall admin for web servers.
    Outlook Anywhere wraps
Remote Procedure Calls inside an HTTP layer to allow connectivity with the Exchange server. This simplifies the firewall administration process requiring only
the SSL port 443 to be opened to the CAS (Client Access Server) instead of several ports to the actual Mailbox Server (MBX).
I hope this information will be helpful for you.
    Thanks and regards

  • Can the Ipod 4th and 5th generation be used as GPS? With the app Waze and under Wifi?

Can the Ipod 4th and 5th Generation be used as GPS? With the app Waze and under Wifi?

    Mini-education...
GPS signals are separate from and completely unrelated to both the Internet and the cellular telephone network.  GPS signals come directly from the GPS satellites.  They provide signals that allow GPS receivers to calculate latitude and longitude information.  Navigation software then takes that latitude/longitude info and converts it to land mass, roads, bridges, highways, buildings, etc.
Most navigation software stores the maps right in the iPad/iPod/iPhone but a disadvantage is that the maps must be periodically updated (perhaps once every two years).  The Internet is not required to use the system but it is required to update the maps.
Some navigation software gets the maps from the Internet and requires an Internet connection to function but an advantage is that the maps are always up-to-date.
The WiFi+3G/4G iPad and the iPhone both have a GPS receiver.  The WiFi-only iPad and the iPod do not and these devices require an accessory.

  • Compatable GPS units with Aperture 3

In the user manual for Aperture 3, there is a link for a list of compatable devices; http://www.apple.com/aperture/specs
There is no list at this link. Does anyone know where I can get this info? I'm looking to use a GPS for upcoming shoots and would like to know what is compatible with Aperture 3. Any help appreciated

Another AMOD user here - I posted a few times about this last week, but I'll borrow from that thread to talk about my experiences with the AMOD and Places.
Had a 3 week shoot in Argentina and decided to try out Aperture 3's new GPS location tagging. So I bought an AMOD 3080 logger and faithfully used it the entire trip. Here's my story, plus a few issues with Places.
First some notes on using the AMOD 3080 - at times it was hard to get to get it logging in Buenos Aires, I assume due to the building density blocking the satellite receptio. Sometimes took 20 minutes to start "flashing", meaning it had acquired the GPS signal and was logging, though it was much speedier out in rural areas.
Charging the three NiMH batteries every night was a bit of a hassle for my charger, which recharges by pairs (I logged about 12 hours a day, so the batteries were usually out of juice by the end of the day). I had a second set of extra batteries, so I would recharge 2 batteries one night and 4 the next. A couple of times I misplaced which of the three was the uncharged battery from the night before, so that was another stupid thing to have to worry about. But be sure to factor in another $30 for a NiMH charger into your total price for the AMOD (plus the weight of the chargers on the road). It might mean a more expensive unit, with a lighter and integrated built-in charger, could suddenly look better. FYI, after returning I found the following unit that charges each AAA battery independently, which would be a better way to go.
    http://www.amazon.com/Crosse-Technology-BC-700-Battery-Charger/dp/B000RSOV50/ref =wlit_dpo?ie=UTF8&coliid=I38WY26GTFAAB0&colid=1JZG5Z0U956FB
But other than remembering to switch it on and off, I'd just throw the AMOD in my camera bag throughout the day. One nice thing is no fussy settings beyond on or off - it just pulls time (UTC) and location from the GPS ttransmissions - only option is to choose a 1 second or 5 second log interval.
I ended up with about 30 log tracks from the trip (everytime you switch on the unit, it adds a new track). This was more data than the 128 MB capacity, but I also was able to back up the AMOD to my NEXTODi Extreme 2700 units - I back up my images onto two different Extreme units every night before wiping my CF cards. Near the end I did a "move" onto the NEXTODi which copied the data over and then erased the AMOD.
Regarding the import of the GPS logs into Aperture, the import for the AMOD files is fast and painless. I did sych the cameras to UTC before I left (within half a second), as I thought there would be some sort of auto import. But after the logs are inside Aperture (you select/load them on a map), you have to choose the images you want to place on that particular log, then drop them onto the track at the corresponding time for the main image you have chosen. Even though I set my camera to Argentina time, when I imported my images into Aperture 3 they defaulted to US PST, my home time zone. So i had to readjust all photos to -5 hours, Argentina time, to match the GPS data. So to implement the correct placement, in this case I had to drag the selected photos around the GPS track on the map until it showed 5 hours 0 minutes time difference, then drop the photos onto the map.
Understanding this now, I suspect the Aperture team did it this way (all photos will be offset by the same time difference show when dropping) in case the camera is not set to the exact time used by satellites (UTC). But it still is a bit frustrating that I can only get a minute synch. Further, if you are in pone place for an extended time, you get a tangle of lines on your GPS track - finding the correct one wold be murder. Combined with the problem getting a signal in BsAs, I had to fuss with placing the images much more than I thought I would have to. I solved this by starting a group selection from an image that had a "cleaner" time to find onthe HPS path. Again, not a deal-breaker but a bit more hassle than i expected. All in all, I'd say I spent 5 or 6 hours getting the 7000 images on the correct tracks, at the correct times. Ths included some time for manually placing images that fell outside of the logs.

  • Cannot use the application "Safari" with Leopard

When I try to open Safari in my non-admin account I get an error message reading 'You cannot use the application "Safari" with this version of Mac OS X'.
Bizarrely, if I logon as the admin account it works perfectly.
I have repaired permissions, run software update, repaired permissions again, logged in as SU and fscked and still the same thing. I discovered that Omni Outliner would open the plist but I don't have the knowledge to interpret that.
I think I have used Safari on this laptop since upgrading to Leopard. Most of the time I use Firefox so it hasn't been an issue anyway. The really bizarre thing is it works normally in the admin account.
    All suggestions welcome.

Thanks for that. Tried it to no avail
I have found out what has gone wrong but I have no idea how.
I keep all my browsers in a subfolder of the applications folder. I trashed Safari with the intention of downloading a clean version from the Apple website. When I got there I couldn't find a version for OS X (there may be one, it just isn't obvious). So I thought I'd just try Safari one more time from my admin account. Of course the app wasn't in the browser folder. So I went to put it back in the applications folder with the intention of moving it from there to the browsers subfolder.
But no. There was already a newer version in the applications folder. How did it get there? I have no idea. But it opens. So I've moved it to the browsers subfolder and it still works.
So problem solved. I don't understand how it happened. And especially why it worked all along in the admin account.
Thanks to everyone who suggested solutions.

  • Can you help with my connection issues

I cannot connect to my Contribute CS3 even though my server is fine. Does anyone have any suggestions? I spent the last hour on the phone with my server company and they tried but failed to help me connect.

    Please try the following steps.
Delete the existing connection from Edit -> My connection .
Create a new connection and when you Click the Advanced button next to the "How do you connect to your web server?" field in the Connection Information dialog box.
Try toggling the Passive Mode check box (if it is unchecked, check it; if it is checked, uncheck it).
If you are behind a firewall, check the Use firewall/proxy settings when connecting check box and click the Firewall Settings or Proxy Settings button to enter firewall information. Ask your local network administrator for help with these settings.
Once done with the new connection you would be able to connect to your website. For more information on connection issues you may use this link http://helpx.adobe.com/contribute/kb/troubleshoot-connection-problems-contribute.html

  • Using Sony GPS-CS1 with iPhoto 9

    Hello all
Just a query, if anyone has any tips for using a Sony GPS-CS1 with iPhoto 9?
I have several files I would like to sync with images. I would also like to create the tracks that the unit does on a map as well?
I have recently been using the bootcamp method with windows but find this a pain as relly like using iPhoto which is where my library is.
I would appreciate any help anyone can give on using this technology.
    Thanks in advance
    Stephen

looking at their web page I see no Mac support. If the device creates a standard format GPS data file then HoudahGeo - http://www.houdah.com/houdahGeo/ - would be able to associate the GPS data with the photos
for a map you must create a book - or use an external program like Google Earth exporting the photos for use with it

  • Can I boot up a Tiger Disk IMage HDD using my Macbook Pro (with Leopard)

Before my Ibook G4 crashed (tiger 10.4) I made a disk image using super duper. I purchased a Macbook Pro (leopard) and when I tried booting the disk Image I had made using superduper on a smart disk firewire drive, it would not recognize it.
I held the option key when booting but only the Mac drive on the Macbook pro showed up. Is that a bug/flaw with leopard that you can't even boot an external HD disk image made using Tiger?
I know the disk image is good because it boots on my G5 which has tiger installed.
    Thanks for a reply..

    Allan Eckert and BCC99,
Thanks for the responses. I REALLY appreciate it becuase I usually spend a lot of time spinning my wheels trying to make something work that doesn't.
The reason I wanted to boot it was that my old IBOOK crashed and I wanted to boot up the old "clone" (not disk image - my poor choice of words) so that I could view some of my older emails that contained information that I wanted to view. I know I could do it on my G5 but I wasn't home and wanted to try my new Macbook.....
    Thanks again...

I can not use 'Start with' and 'connect by' with parameter in creating ADF's LOV?
How could I do with it?
    Alex

assuming you are using adf 11g,
You need to use View Criteria with the View Object attribute that has a LOV model.

  • Use of old iphoto with leopard

I was surprised to see that iphoto was not included with the operating system on my new dual core system running 10.5. My old imac ran panther(g4) and a friend suggested loading iphoto that was included on the panther 10.3 operating system onto my new system which I did. It shows iphoto as a successful download in my applications folder but when I try to run it it doesn't run. Is there an additional program I need to load off the panther operating system or am I crazy to try this as for some reason they are incompatable?

None of the iLife applications are included with any operating system release.
They do come preloaded on all new computers (as far as I know - at least in the US) and are on the restore disks that come with the new system - did your new system come with Leopard preinstalled or did you upgrade it after you got the system? If it came preinstalled then iPhoto should be there - if you did an erase and install to upgrade then you need to load iPhoto and the rest of the iLife applications from the original install disks (use the custom install - install bundled software optin)

  • Use of organizational unit with org. Object type

    Hi,
In What Scenario we will use organizational unit with org. Object type .
    Regards,
    Peter Son

This technique works by matching codes entered in customizing tables against organizational objects in the organizational plan.
E.g. A particular Sales Area can be related to an Organizational unit that represents all people in that Sales Area.
         SAP Organizational Objects
Organizational entities (such as sales group, Distribution Channel, or purchasing organization) are represented by object types in the Business Object  Repository.
The indicator organizational type in their basic data defines
such object types as SAP Organizational Objects
For Agent Determination, relationships are created between  SAP Organizational Objects (residing in BOR)  and the  Organizational Management objects.
The agents are found by tracing these relationships.

  • Ayone used Intego Personal Backup with Leopard and an Airport Disk

I have been very successfully using Intego's Personal Backup program with OSX 10.4.10 on an intel iMac and a MacbookPro with an Iomega 750GB hard drive linked to an Airport Extreme. I've set the computers to automatically switch on nightly (via energy saver) 5 minutes before the Intego backup script is set to run. The script runs in the background and automatically logs on to the Airport Disk and selects the backup folder. After finishing the backup the script then quits the program and shutsdown the computer. It's very convenient and neat as it only backsup files that have changed and they are full usable copies rather than incremental backups.
Has anyone tried this using Leopard? Could this be a potential solution to the lack of Time Machine being used with Airport Disks?

    I've tried it, without success.
I have a clean install of Leopard. I bought a new Airport Extreme and Iomega UltraMax 1TB drive to go with Leopard, so this part of the setup is all new to me. I have been using Personal Backup, without problem, for ages.
What I find is that when I select the Airport Disk as the destination drive, the Spinning Beachball of Death starts and I have to Force Quit Personal Backup. A real shame as I really wanted to use the Airport Disk as a common disk between my iMac and iBook, and Personal Backup seemed the obvious way to get the iMac files on to the Airport Disk (the iBook only needs read-only access).
If anyone gets this going, I'd love to find out how.

  • I have a new comcast modem i have connected to Time Capsule with cable, TC in double NAT. As when I tried it in bridge mode I cannot use Sonos, the units will not connect to the wifi network? I thought Bridge mode would make the wifi signal better??

I have the TC connected to the comcast modem, with TC in Double NAT mode. I set up the sonos music players ok. But I read that to incresae the wifi signal the TC should be in Bridge mode. Then I cannot get any of the Sonos units to connect to the wifi network.
So two questions, does the Bridge mode give a better wifi signal then double NAT?
Why will sonos not connect to the network when in Bridge mode?

A PC can have more issues connecting than a Mac.
But it really should not matter.. so just try it in situ.. press and hold the reset.. once it starts up, it will return to default IP, 10.0.1.1 the PC should then be able to find it via the airport utility.
If not drag it over to the Mac and plug in there by ethernet.. or since it is a laptop, really should not be that difficult to drag the Laptop and plug it into the TC.
Important thing is to get access to the TC.
The Mac if it is running lion, then you MUST download and install 5.6 airport utility to do anything useful.

  • How can I use SQL TOOLKIT concurrently with Database Connectivity ?

I have installed LabVIEW 6.1 with the Database Connectivity Toolkit and the SQL Compatibility Toolkit (e.g. _SQL folder). I am trying to make the transition from the SQL Toolkit VIs to the Database Connectivity toolkits, but for compatability with existing systems I would like to be able to run the two sets of VIs concurrently (but not in the same app).
When I read into 6.1 a connection VI that I wrote with LabVIEW 6.0 and the SQL toolkit the connection reference type gets changed from a number to type connection (see attachments) . Does compatbility mean that my SQL toolkit VIs are converted to a form compatible with the new ADO ?
Can I use the SQL Toolkit VIs or the Database connectivit
y VIs in the same installation of 6.1 ?
Can I have the SQL Toolkit VIs appear on the functions pallette and function as they did when only the SQL toolkit was installed ?

In response to your #2 below:
Actually it is possible to have the old SQL Toolkit and new Database
connectivity in the same installation of LabVIEW. I have only tried it on
6i, but don't see why it wouldn't work on 6.1. The trick is not to install
the SQL toolkit compatabitily VI's. The old SQL toolkit uses the Intersolve
dll through ODBC while the new Database connectivity uses ADO so it is
possible to use both methods not only in the same LabVIEW install, but it
the same running application. It has been a while since I originally did
this, so I am posting only to mention that it is possible and not exactly
how to do it. If anyone is interested in more details just respond.

  • BT wifi & BT Wifi with Fon connection issue

in the last 5 days I've had  issues connecting to BT Wifi and BT Wifi with Fon. I'm connecting using an iPhone and iPad so when I use the BT Wifi app for logging in it constantly says check details (which are correct) and then it will connect but then log off and won't connect for ages. It will sometimes connect one device but not the other.
When I try connect using the browser page I get a message ' maximum number of sessions reached'.
Has anyone any idea what causes this, what it means and a possible solution?
ps I tried email BT but they don't seem to care as i've not received a reply,  thanks BT

    Hi Gioabb,

Can I just check, is this problem happening with several hotspots or just the one?
