Using Toplink Version 2.5.1 with Oracle 9i

I am trying to find out if I can use an old version of TOPLink, version 2.5.1 with Oracle 9i.
Has anybody deployed TOPLink 2.5.1 on Oracle 9i? Any input/help/documentation is appreciated.
Thank you for your help in advance,
Sc.

Hi Srinivasa,
As long as you chose a complient JDBC driver, there should be no problems.

  • You can't use this version of Font Book with Snow Leopard!

    Hi,
    Since upgrading to Snow Leopard I get the following error message when attempting to open Font Book:
    "You can't use this version of the application Font Book with this version of Mac OS X. You have Font Book 2.1."
    Most solutions I've found via Google simply suggest reinstalling Snow Leopard. Does anyone know of a less drastic solution to this problem?
    Could I copy the correct version of Font Book (v2.2) the SL CD?
    Thanks,
    Mateus

    you should have fontbook 2.2 already if you installed SL. possibly you have an old leopard version of fontbook in a different location and that's what you are trying to run now. go to the main Applications folder at the top level of the hard drive and launch Font Book from there. does it run?

  • OWB version does not change with Oracle database 11.1.0.7 patch

    Hi,
    This is Kumar and I have just completed applying Oracle database 11.1.0.7 patch (p6890831_111070_Linux-x86-64.zip) on top of Oracle 11.1.0.6 database on RedHat Linux machine. After successful installation, I have issues below statement to check the validity and version of the installed components.
    select comp_name, version, status from dba_registry;
    I could see all the component's version as 11.1.0.7 except OWB component's version which is still *11.1.0.6.0* and status is VALID
    Could you please let me know what went wrong in my installation? or Is this behavior expected one?
    Regards,
    Kumar

    Did you check with Patch inventory ?
    You can run the OWB health check script (download from metalink) to the configuration.

  • Which version of JDBC works with Oracle 7.3.3 for NT?

    I use Oracle 7.3.3. It seems I can not use a JDBC to connect to it. Anyone know which version of JDBC I should use?
    Thanks in advance.

    Well you should have said NT4 in first post and then I would have told you that Firefox 2.0.0.20 was the last to work on Win 98/NT4 while 1.5.012 was the last for Win95 as Fx 2.0.0.* tended to crash or freeze on startup.
    The error means either OLEAUT32.DLL is corrupted or outdated. A fresh install of Windows 95/98/NT4 can give this error. Also the corruption can occur if while installing a software it insists on installing a older version of OLEAUT32.DLL.
    Been four or five years since I really saw anybody post about this error on Firefox startup.

  • Using TOAD 7.6.0.11 with Oracle Client 10g (Release 2)

    So far, I've been using Oracle Client 9i.
    I decided to install Oracle Client 10g and thus copied 9i's tnsnames.ora over to 10g. The problem is when I fire up TOAD. It doesn't show the 10g client in the drop down menu nor in the Oracle Home Editor button. It only shows 9i (i.e., ias_home)
    How do I make 10g visible to TOAD?

    Use SQL Developer or try to post it in other forum...<br>

  • I can only use trail versions of the apps with creative cloud (full subscription)

    Hello,
    I'm really disappointed. I bought the Student and Teacher edition of Creative Cloud in order to use all the amazing apps of Adobe. But, it's not working!
    I can login to my account and install the apps. However, when I start an app as Photoshop it asks me to register the product or it runs as a trail version. I uninstalled every Adobe item afterwards, but, nothing has changed.
    I don't want to pay for a service that's not working! So please me help me to fix it.

    No.
    Cloud apps are only available via subscription via a Cloud plan.
    If you need 3 or more apps then a Cloud Complete membership is the way to go.

  • Use trial version of elements 9 with elements 8 installed

    I have Premiere Elements 8 installed. It hangs after a Peak file is created. It does this everytime, in three different computers and in both XP and Windows 7! I am able to run Elements 8 for about 3 to 3 1/2 minutes before it hangs.
    I would like to try Premiere Elements 9 to see if that solves the problem. If I download the trial version of 9 and it still has the same problem, can I delete the trial version and still be able to use Elements 8 in my severely restricted manner?

    I installed trial version on Elements 8 and
    I don't want it but can't get rid of it. It still fills my hard drive
    .How can I completely delete it. It no longer shows in programs
    , but tons of it remain in my hard drive.

  • How to use outer join on 2 tables with Oracle 8i

    Could anyone tell me the Oracle 8i syntax equivalent to :
    select user.name, city.adress, contry.name
    from user
    left outer join city on (user.rCity = city.code)
    left outer join country on (user.rCountry = country.code)
    I tried following :
    select user.name, city.adress, contry.name
    from user, city, contry
    where user.rCity (+) = city.code
    and user.rCountry (+) = country.code
    but displayed following error :
    ORA-01417: a table may be outer joined to at most one other table
    Thank you

    Logically I would expect a user to have a city and a country, or not. In that case the outer join should be on the other tables. Making your query:
    select user.name, city.adress, country.name
    from user, city, country
    where user.rCity = city.code (+)
    and user.rCountry = country.code (+);

  • Using Clob with TopLink 9.0.4.5 and Oracle 10g RAC

    I am trying to store an XML file in a Clob type field of a DB table using TopLink 9.0.4.5 and Oracle 10g RAC and need some guidance about how to do it. I got some directions to start it with the Tip "How-To: Map Large Objects (LOBs) to Oracle Databases with OracleAS TopLink" but still need some more helps.
    When using the Oracle JDBC OCI driver, the tip gives the code block for a Clob field:
    DirectToField scriptMapping = new DirectToField();
    scriptMapping.setAttributeName("script");
    scriptMapping.setFieldName("IMAGE.SCRIPT");
    descriptor.addMapping(scriptMapping);
    As I understand, TopLink creates instances of the Descriptor class at run time for each of the descriptor files and stores them in a database session, where is the proper place (in SessionEvent of TopLinkSessionEventHandler?) for me to get a reference to such an instance of my Descriptor class in Java code so that I can add the above mentioned additional Mapping? Are the above String values of "script" and "IMAGE.SCRIPT" predefined in TopLink API? Can I accomplish the same thing just using the TopLink Workbench tool instead? If yes, please advise the detailed steps to do so.
    The tip also states to call the following code in case of using Clob:
    DatabaseLogin login = session.getLogin();
    login.useStringBinding();
    Should the above 2 lines of code be called after the following lines of code?
    SessionManager sessionManager = SessionManager.getManager();
    Server serverSession = (Server)sessionManager.getSession("MY_SESSION_NAME");
    Besides the above extra coding for the Session and Descriptor Mapping, is there any special handling in between Data model and DB table mapping? Can I map a Java String type to a DB Clob field using the Direct-to-field mapping?
    Appreciate any help.

    Never mind ....... I had already figured it out .....

  • How to use the Oracle AQ JMS API using Toplink

    My application is using AQ using PL/SQL. We want to convert the PL/SQL code to the JMS interface Oracle offers, the problem is that I need to use a java.sql.Connection object in order to connect to the AQ. I don't own the java.sql.Connection in Toplink. How can I enqueue/dequeue to a JMS AQ using Toplink?

    In the upcoming 10.1.3 release, TopLink supports mapping to/from Oracle AQ messages through a JCA adapter. This functionality is currently available in the 10.1.3 developer preview release on the Oracle OTN web site. If you have an earlier version of TopLink, using AQ directly may make more sense with TopLink only being used to access an existing JDBC connection.
    To use AQ directly a JDBC connection is required - then the AQ JMS interface can be used to access any messages. If TopLink has a JDBC connection with Oracle AQ, it (the JDBC connection) can be accessed via session.getAccessor().getConnection(). Also, if a J2EE datasource/connection pool is being used a JDBC connection could be obtained there as well. One thing to note is that creating a new JDBC connection would be 'safer', as this would avoid having the connection managed when it shouldn't be.
    For information on how Oracle TopLink provides EIS access to AQ, please refer to: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/ias/toplink/preview/howto/eisAq/index.htm

  • NullPointerException with Toplink version 9.0.4.4

    Dear All,
    We are using Toplink version 9.0.4.4 jar for one of our live application.
    Ours is a Java application connected to Oracle DB with the above mentioned toplink jar in the application server.
    Currently we are facing the following issue.
    java.lang.NullPointerException
    at oracle.toplink.mappings.DirectToFieldMapping.compareObjects(DirectToFieldMapping.java:154)
    at oracle.toplink.mappings.DirectToFieldMapping.compareForChange(DirectToFieldMapping.java:136)
    We are not facing this issue on all scenarios. But unable to figure our when this issue is triggered.
    From one of the forum we saw that version 9.0.4.5 might solve this issue.
    We tried replacing the jar but the result is not fruitful. We still have the issue.
    On higher end this is how our Objects are mapped.
    Database Side
    ==============
    Employee - Primary Table
    Employee Details - Secondary table with relation to Employee table.
              One to many relation with Employee
    Java Side
    ===========
    Employee.java
    EmployeeDetails.java
    Employee.java contains list of Employee Details.
    Process Flow
    ==============
    1. Read the Employee details from the Database. Employee Object is populated and the same is used to Display the details
    in the application screen
    2. User modified the Emplohyee details in the Screen
    3. Build EmployeeAmendDTO from Employee Object along with the modified data from Screen using HTTPRequest object
    4. Read the Employee Object again from the DB and register it for Update.
    5. Logic has been written in Java to check EmployeeAmendDTO against Employee Object and populate Employee Object with
    additional information from the EmployeeAmendDTO.
    6. In this process the EmployeeDetails List within the Employee Object is also set.
         Code snippet from Employee Object
         EmployeeDetailsList.add(EmployeeDetails);
         EmployeeDetails.setEmployee(this);
    7. Employee Object which is registed for update should update the records.
    The code works very fine while we comment the EmployeeDetailsList.add(EmployeeDetails); code in java.
    But this is very much required as we need to save the Employee Details as well.
    Below is the relationship maintained for Employee and EmployeeDetails in Toplink.
    In Employee the EmployeeDetails are set in one-to-many relations where Bidirectional Relationship is enabled. In the EmployeeDetails bidirectional relationship is not enabled for EmployeeHolder which is holder for the Employeeobject.
    Note:- The application is in use since 2005 and we have just modified few code here and there to include new parametes to
    the Employee and EmployeeDetails.

    Hello,
    9.0.4.x is rather old and I'd recommend trying a later version such as 10 or 11 if possible. I'd also recommend filing a support case as they will probably need to go through the old and new mappings and the details of how you are building Employee and EmployeeDetails objects from EmployeeAmendDTO, which would be difficult to look at through a forum post.
    What will be needed is the full stack, the portion of the log that shows the app first reading in Employee and then trying to commit the changes with logging on finest (if possible). The error hopefully shows the mapings involved in the problem that may issolate which objects will need to be looked at.
    Best Regards,
    Chris
