Using Touch ID for App store when you have seperate Apple IDs for iCloud and iTunes

My wife and I each have a new iPhone 5S.  We share the same Apple ID for iTunes and the App Store.
In addition, we each have our own unique Apple IDs for iCloud.  This enables us to use iMessage to text to each other.
Can the iPhone 5S be setup to use the Touch ID for iTunes and App store purchases when there are separate iCloud and iTunes ID on the same phone?
Currently, I can unlock my phone using the Touch ID, but the App store requests me to type the password to my wife's and my shared Apple ID whenever I wish to buy an app.  I am not given the option to use the Touch ID.
I do have both the iPhone Unlock and iTunes & App Store set to "on" here: Settings > General > Touch ID & Passcode > Touch ID
How can I use my current setup so I can approve App Store purchases with the Touch ID?

This is the screen that pops up when I attempt to purchase an app.  It does not allow me to use my Touch ID.

  • HT204053 Can you have multiple apple ids that access one itune account??

I need to know if I can have multiple Apple Ids attached to one itunes account.  Trying to set facetime up on these separate devices and it keeps failing.  Any help would be appreciated.  I tried to add additional emails, but I all I get is verifying and it never verifies it.

yes you can still sync all the devices on itunes using one master itunes/appleID account.
    Music:
If you want to select specific playlists for your kids, DON'T enable iTunes Match on their devices, otherwise they will get ALL the playlists on their devices (learned that the hard way)
If you have wi-fi synced enabled that should still work.
    Apps:
I manually select which apps they get on their devices using itunes. It only changes when they re-sync.
Don't enable AUTO downloads on their devices for Apps or Music purchases.
Since I also have young kids using these devices:
I have restrictions setup on their devices. I don't allow them to install/delete apps, nor do I allow them to make any account changes on their devices. This way their devices stay in order and get backed up to icloud. I can easily restore their devices if I needed too.
Once in a while I will disable the restrictions so I can update all their apps.
    Hope this helps!

  • How do you switch emails when you have 2 apple IDs?

I have 2 apple IDs - one for work and 1 for personal use.  However, all of my personal items are on the account with the work email and I have nothing in my personal apple ID.  I thought if I cancelled my apple ID associated with my personal email then I could switch the email on my other apple ID from my work email to my personal email and then open a new apple ID with my work email address (thereby transferring my personal items over to a personal apple ID account).  I can't seem to figure out how to deactivate my account.  What should I do?

    Hello GMCT,
I read your post, and I have linked to an article that will instruct you on how to do that:

  • How to Set up Family Plan when you have two Apple IDs?

I stopped short of setting up Family plan because my wife and I have two Apple IDs each: One for iTunes ad one for iCloud.  This was caused by migrating from long ago Apple "cloud" services.
The set up seems to assume you have a single ID for each person and there are no instructions to set it up using hyour current iTunesa and iCloud IDs.
Has anyone successfully set up Family Plan while they have two sets of Apple IDs?

finally I found someone else with my dilemma.
I have my iTunes/AppStore ID with all my purchases and my iCloud ID with everything else.
this is a major issue that needs to be addressed.
    thank you.

  • When you have 2 apple IDs with apps: How to access all apps on a device?

    Hi.
I couldn't use my newly bougt IPhone because for some reason I wasn't allowed to use my old Apple ID. I got help from an Apple Chat-service (which I can't remember how I found...) with creating a new Apple ID, but where's my previous purcases? I had a ton of apps on the old ID, how do I transfer them to the new one? I've bought some apps with the new one, but it seems like I must delete all my previously bought apps to access the new ones if I want to sync with my laptop (can't sync with two libraries on PC)... It would have been so much easier if I could just merge the IDs completely...

I found out that I can download things from App Store on the iPad from a different ID that is used to sync with PC. But it would have been nice to just have one ID for all, plain and simple. Merging of acoounts should be possible, this would make shopping much less complicated for users who have to use several IDs.

After upgrading to IOS6, suddently my iPad has switch me to the greek apps store instead of leaving me into my canadian apps store.
Therefore, I cannot upgrade 60+ apps on my iPad.
Does someone know how to revert this situation?
    Thanks for your help!

    Try this:
    1. App Store>Feature>Apple ID (at bottom of page)
    2. Tap on Apple ID>View Apple ID
    4. Enter your password
    5. Country/Region>Change Country or Region

Which apps are you referring to ? If Pages, Numbers, Keynote, iPhoto and iMovie then they are free to people who have activated a device since 1st September 2013, and have iOS 7 installed on the device.

As randers4 says, use separate AppleIDs for iCloud and iMessage accounts.  You cannot "share iCloud" and have separate mail, messaging and facetime.  To get those, you need to use separate AppleIDs to each create your own iCloud account and your own iMessage account.
You can share apps and other purchased content by having a common AppleID used in the iTunes and App store.

Settings > Store > Sign Out.
Sign in with the correct ID.

  • Can you have two Apple IDs on one IPAD? One for school and one for home?

Can you have two Apple IDs on one IPAD? One for school and one for home?
If so do you know how to do it?

It depends on what you want to do.
You could, for example, have one AppleID for iCloud backup [and therefore message syncing, notes syncing, etc] and a second one for iTunes [music, iBooks, etc].
But if you are looking for a way to flip everything between different appleIDs, then no.

  • Can you have two apple ids on one mac?

Can you have two apple ids on one mac? We each have iPhones and want to utilize iCloud.  Is this possible?

No, in this case the 2 user accounts with its own Apple IDs would be completely seperated.
If you want to share this things like music and app purchases you will have to to something else.
    1. Create two user accounts on your Mac (user A and user B).
    2. Create two iCloud accounts just for Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Photos, etc. (one for user A and one for user B):
On your Mac (with Mac OS X Lion or Mountan Lion):
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > iCloud > Create an Apple ID (button in left corner)
On your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch (iOS 5 or later):
Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Add Account > iCloud > Get a free @me.com address and create a new Apple ID
    3. It is not recommended because you shouldn't share your Apple ID account information with other people but you could set up your old Apple ID as an account just for store purchases (Apps, Music, ...) so that everyone of you can manage the purchases in their own library (Access is limited to 10 devices). Therefore you have to setup this "old" ID in Settings of your iOS devices (Settings > iTunes & App Store) and in iTunes on your Mac.

  • Can my wife and I share when we have separate Apple IDs

My wife and I have seperate Apple IDs for our Macs and iPhones. We now have a couple Apple TVs and we are trying to sort out the best way to setup so we can see each of our content from iCloud and also to watch moves, play music from whatever of our accounts we purchased.
It is totally confusing and not intuitive how best to do this. Does anyone have a best practice.
My in-laws just use one Apple ID for everything but that doesn't work for us as we consume too much content and I don't always want to see what Apple my wife buys, etc.
Also, between the 2 of us and our daughter. we have 3 Macbooks, 3 iPhones, 3, iPads and iPod and 2 Apple TV's. Is seems like Apple limits us to 5 devices. Clearly, we are good customers! Any advice anyone?

There are two settings on the Apple TV that will interest you.
    Settings > iTunes Store > Apple ID's.
Here you can set up both your accounts and once both are set up you can use this option to switch between them. Switching your ID for the iTunes store will change the content in the movies, TV shows and music apps on the Apple TV.
    Settings > iCloud.
Here you can log out of your Apple ID and into another one. Note this is not as convenient as being able two switch as above. Changing your ID for iCloud will change the photos in photo stream.
Note: disabling photostream and re-enabling it will result in any photos that are currently in the photostream album on your device, that are older than 30 days old, not being added back.

  • My account names for iCloud and iTunes is different, is this why my Iphone4 is not syncing with my iMac?

My account names for iCloud and iTunes is different, is this why my Iphone4 is not syncing with my iMac?

No, perfectly normal to have a separate iTunes account for music/app purchases to the one you use for iCloud syncing of contacts, notes, etc.

    HELLO????

  • Family Sharing won't work because I have two separate accounts for iCloud and iTunes

I have two Apple accounts, one that is connected to my iTunes Store purchases, and another for iCloud. I had to do this for reasons related to transitioning from the old MobileMe service to iCloud a few years ago.
So now with Family Sharing, if I use my iTunes account, I can't share calendars or other iCloud type information, and if I use my iCloud account I can't share my music and app purchases.
Is there anything I can do to remedy this? Can I combine everything into a single account somehow?

Under "Setting up Family Sharing" here: https://developer.apple.com/icloud/documentation/family-sharing/ it says:
"You can accept a Family Sharing invitation from any compatible iOS device or Mac where you are signed into iCloud. Or, if the organizer is nearby, they can simply ask you to enter your iCloud Apple ID and password during the setup process. To complete setup, you will also confirm the Apple ID you use for the iTunes, iBooks, and App Stores so you can share your purchases with family members."
This suggests that you can specify a different ID for the iTunes store if you aren't using your iCloud ID for purchasing.
