Using Two Apple ID's

I have one ID that I have used for years for my purchases of Apple's online content (iTunes, MacApp Store, etc). It is the ID associated with my iTunes authorizations on my Macbooks.
I have a new ID for use with iCloud, because I wanted a more appropriate email address at me.com, than I have at MobileMe with my original user ID.
I know I can't merge the best of both into one user ID. But can I have the iCloud ID co-exist with my original ID for my purchases and iTunes authorization without causing any problems?

I'm stuck with the same issue.  The two IDs can coexist with one minor issue.  When you update apps using the Mac and iTunes and/or the App Store is logged in to the "wrong" ID, it's necessary to log out and log in again.  The IOS devices (I have an iPad and an iPod Touch) handle it automatically.  You do need to enter the password but that would be necessary even if only one ID was involved.

  • Can I use two apple ids on my iPhone?

Does anyone know if I can use two apple ids on my iPhone. Basically I have a problem where I can't download an app because its not available in the Australian store but I am considering starting a new apple id linked to my Hong Kong credit card so I can purchase this app
    app
if I do this will I only be able to see the apps downloaded using each particular apple id account on my iPhone at any one time...?

That only applies if you turn on Automatic Downloads or iTunes match.
To the OP, you can ignore Philo124's post.
No, it Applies if you download content from one then switch to another and download content from the other. Automatically or not.
    Apple Wrote:
Association of Associated Devices is subject to the following terms:
You may auto-download iTunes Auto-Delivery Content or download previously-purchased iTunes Eligible Content from an Account on up to 10 Associated Devices, provided no more than 5 are iTunes-authorized computers.
(ii) An Associated Device can be associated with only one Account at any given time.
(iii) You may switch an Associated Device to a different Account only once every 90 days.
Not sure if its only limited to past purchases or new ones as well though.

  • Is there a work around to use two Apple IDs across and iPhone and a MB Pro?

iPhone 5 and Macbook Pro Retina late 2013.  iOS 8.1 and Yosemite.
It's a company iPhone and a personal MBP.  Phone has an Apple ID associated with company credit card and MBP personal Apple ID with personal credit card.
There is a cross platform issue as you cannot use two Apple IDs in Facetime and Messages.  Therefore my iPhone and MBP do not interoperate correctly, for example, a text message in messages on the iPhone will not appear in Messages on the MBP.  Similar situation for FaceTime.  When you try to enter the second email associated with the second Apple ID on either platform you get "cannot verify because email is already in use".
    Any work arounds?
This is something Apple should have really anticipated as iPhones become more widespread in corporate use.

Thank you for your continued interest and research on my behalf on this situation. I was on the phone with Apple support (at no charge) for over an hour yesterday. Becasue I have what they cal a "vintage computer"(7 1/2 years old), there are some additional issues.  We thought it was solved at teh end of the phone call but aparently it was not. I am going to call them now and see what else can be done. I will keep you posted.
    Thanks again.

  • Hi, does someone know if I can use two Apple tv's with the same iTunes library? Thanks

Hi, does someone know if I can use two Apple tv's with the same iTunes library?
    Thanks

Yes you can use two (or more) AppleTVs with one iTunes library. They can both stream from iTunes (or the internet) at the same time, as long as you have a good working LAN and internet connection.

  • Can I use two apple id's on my phone.

I would like to use two apple id's on my phone. My husband and I like to share our music, (we have always had one apple id).
I recently created a new apple id for myself so we could facetime to eachother AND I am doing preparations for when we get our macbook pro. Which we will also share. I'm assuming we will use our own apple id's for the imessage portion on our upcoming macbook and will have different user accounts.
But can I set certain things on my phone to use different apple id's.

Technically, "yes", but you will need to sign in each time you want to use the other one.

You can use one ID for iTunes/iTunes Match, and another for iCloud, without any problems. You can add a secondary iCloud account in System Preferences (or Settings)>Mail, contacts and Calendars. Its data will appear alongside the main iCloud account though you cannot use PhotoStream with it.

  • How do I use two Apple ID's

    hi
I just got an iPhone at work and I'm wondering if I can load apps on it using two different Apple ID accounts? I have my own Apple account which I can use on my own iOS devices, but I also need to load up some corporate apps but would like to do that using my work Apple ID.
    Is this possible to do?
    thanks

If you're downloading them on the device itself, sign in and out of Apple IDs as needed. An application can only be updated by logging in with the Apple ID it's associated with.
If you're downloading them from a computer, ensure all the applications are in one iTunes library and that it doesn't contain protected content from more than five Apple IDs.

  • How do I log use two apple ID's on the same I mac with two user accounts

I cant seem to find a thread to answer this question.
I have have one I mac, both my wife and I have a user account each, we both have our own apple ID's is there away they can be used at the same time?
As so far I can't find a way of doing this. It seems one user account can only use its apple ID for a period of 90days, If I need to use the other apple ID I have to wait.. as I get this messsage
"You can download past purchases on this computer with just one Apple ID every 90 days. You cannot associate this computer with a different Apple ID for 61 days. "
Is there a way around this?

Oh...How about one APPLE account, but two different users on the computer- one being administrator, and allow admin privileges if you want, or one be admin, the other a user.
Or- what you can do, is have the second apple account, but only log in to it without involving the computer.
Or break down and get a second computer. On hers, you be guest user and on yours she be guest- then if one breaks, you can still each use in turn.
Or alternately, go to applestore or contact apple to ask...

  • Using two apple IDs on one Itunes account

I recently purchases a ipad for my 86 year old mother. I want to also add music to it that I have cd's for. She now has an Apple ID of her own and I have my own Apple ID. The problem is this, when I log out of my itunes account and log in as her, I can still see all my music library as her. How do I see NOTHING under her account, until I actually load in music for her. Then can i sync her ipad using my OWN Mac and have it appear on her ipad? I have not enabled home sharing at all. Thank you!

Phil, I am confused about your statement/answer:
""Is it possible to create two Apple IDs on one iTunes account?"
    Yes.  I have two."
    Apple says:
"An Apple ID is a user name you use for everything you do with Apple. Creating an account for an Apple service, such as the iTunes Store or the App Store, creates an Apple ID. Apple ID allows you to access other Apple services. You don't have to create a new account for each service—just use your Apple ID."
Thus an Apple ID is the same as the iTunes account.
Did you mean can yu use more than one Apple ID on one iPod because yuo know the answr is yes.
Or have I go something wrong?

  • How can I use two apple id's on one macbook air?

I have two accounts on my macbook air and two apple id's mine and my husbands. He has his set up on his account and I have mine set up on my account. Only problem is is that it seems we can only have one id associated with the computer at one time and to change it we have to wait 90 days.
How can I get around this?

One or both of you needs to buy your music on Amazon.  Then the re-downloading process will be from the Amazon Cloud, which, for obvious reasons, does not have any restrictions about Apple ID.

Can I use twoo apple tv on the same wifi system??

Winston, what sort of set up do you have for 10 apple tvs? - I currently have 2 and cannot stream different movies successfully at the same time to both of them from a single macbook pro. I am looking at upgrading to a system with a macbook mini or server streaming different content to 3-5 apple tvs. Currently all streaming is on the same channel and via 2 airport extremes and a new express. Still finding the system very very slow.

  • I use two apple tvs, when useing mulity speakers on computer plus two tvs the audio plays on all but only video on one, i use two apple tvs, when useing mulity speakers on commputer plus two tvs the audio plays on all but only video on one

i use 2 apple 2nd generation tvs, on mulity speakers, computer and 2 tvs have audio but only one has video, why does the video not play on all at the same time

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
I'm not entirely sure whether you're asking if it should or why it doesn't. To cover the first point it isn't supposed to, so your set up is working correctly.
As to why not I'm not absolutely sure, it isn't a bandwidth restriction as whilst I can't be certain that all our 6 Apple TVs have all been streaming video at the same time (when initiated from the Apple TV), I believe at least 4 have on occasions. So I imagine it's another technical limitation that I'm not aware of, perhaps it's a synchronisation problem, who knows.

  • How to configure iCloud when using two apple ID's

Just installed lion and set up a new mac id (different from my itunes mac id)... whats the difference of having two separate ones? I know the two cannot becombined, but what are the challenges of having two?
I currently have my itunes store and icloud set up to my new apple ID, but what happens to my old apple ID? All my downloads from my iphone were done on the old apple ID. If I change this setting by using the original apple ID for store purchases and my new apple ID for icloud... whats the difference? benefits? complications?
Just really confused by all this and can't find anything online that just breaks down whats the better way of setting this up.
    Thanks!

You should continue to use your old ID for iTunes, if you don't you will have difficulties using your purchased content.
You can use either the new or the old ID for iCloud, iCloud is just a sync service so you won't actually lose anything by using one or the other.
If you'd prefer to use the same ID for both and your contact and calendar info is in your iCloud account using your new ID, you can always transfer that data to the other account and delete the new account altogether.
