Using two computers to upload iTunes

I created my first upload from iTunes on a PC that was not my home computer. Now I'm at a Mac, my home computer and I can't add new songs to my iPod w/o blanking everything that I did on the PC per the prompt window I'm getting on iTunes. It shouldn't be this way, should it? Can't I add songs to what I have already? I've looked at all the tutorials to no avail. Does anyone have the answer to this Q?
Thanks.

" It shouldn't be this way, should it?"
Yes, that the way it works. However, you can use the iPod with more than one computer. Here's how.
Using iPod with multiple computers.
Your Mac might be prompting you to reformat the iPod since it's been set up on a pc. You don't need to do this since a Windows iPod will work on a Mac. However, if you plan on using a Mac only in the future, it's not really practical to keep the iPod formatted for Windows, since any software updates would have to be done via Windows, and if you ever needed to restore the iPod, that would reformat it for Mac in any event.

  • HT1449 how do you move all music from two computers into one itunes account?

How do you move all music from two computers into one itunes account?

An "iTunes account" is an online account you use for buying music, like a bank account.  An iTunes collection is the media you see when you open iTunes. Which do you mean?
If it is two computers, it would also help to know where these are located. Are they on the same local network? If they are, try Home Sharing (and you have control of both and you aren't just trying to get music fro your computer to your friend's computer in another state).  If they are not, you'll have to use an external hard drive or flash drive.
Is this on a PC? Your computer information says Windows but you posted this in the iTunes for Mac forum.

.  I have Adobe Actobat 7.0 Standard for quite a while, and I'm happy with it. I use it for mainly filings at the federal court.  They require PDF.  I use two computers in two different states for work.  I realize my Adobe 7.1 is a few years old, but sometimes I have difficulty using it with the other days downloading a boarding pass, and e filing at the USDC. .  There's a problem with Adobe Flash, media, etc.  and other Adobe programs, (which I use for downloading boarding passes for airlines, etc.) so basically I have to delete these other Adobe programs, besides the Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Standard if I want to 7.0 Standard to work.  I periodically download the updates, but there's still a problem. My question is:  Can or should I purchase another program to update the present Adobe Acrobat 7.0 standard, or just buy a new program such as the Adobe 11?  Am I mistakenly doing something wrong, such as when I download?  I'm an old valued customer so I don't want to spend a lot of money since I am replacing my Dell XP for a new computer now, and my other computer is a Dell Vista.
    I'd appreciate your valued advice.

If you are getting a new computer (for a PC it would have Win 7 or 8), then you will need to purchase XI if you wish to continue using Acrobat. Acrobat 7 is not compatible with these systems (and probably the same for MAC systems), though sometimes workarounds are possible, though not easy to use. I guess the answer is to buy the new version. Try http://www.adobe.com/products/catalog/software._sl_id-contentfilter_sl_catalog_sl_software _sl_mostpopular.html, click on the Buy for Acrobat, and then select the version you want.

  • Using two computers and nano

I am just about buying Ipod nano and this kind of question comes to my head. Ok. I use two computers at the same time (PC + laptop) as I travel a lot, so I'd like to know whether I can use nano on both of them? Meaning, can I plug nano to PC, download music, then get to train/plane and plug it to my laptop and download new stuff onto nano?
I've heard that nano registers to only one computer. Is it true? Does it mean that I cannot listen to music stored on my laptop if it is registered to PC?

Actually, the page I linked to is on this site. It's part of Apple's "Knowledge Base." Under the main support site, if you search for a problem, articles like the one I linked to will be found.

We lost access to are computers in the last two months and we want to know how to deauthorize two computers from the ituns account can you please help me please?

If you don't have access to the computers to manually deauthorize them (they were sold, stolen, etc), then you have to log into your account, deauthorize all computers, and then re-authorize the machine(s) that you want to have access. This page explains how.

  • Can two computers share same ITunes library over Airdisk?

    Hi all,
I have a Macbook and a PowerPC G5 and a Drobo (external hard drive) hooked up to my AEBS with only ITunes music stored on it.
I want to be able to edit and browse my ITunes library from both my G5 (which I can already do) and my MacBook (which I can't). When I try to change my ITunes library location from within my MacBook, nothing shows up. It's a blank library, even though I can edit and browse the Drobo (as an Airdisk) through the finder. How can I edit and browse my ITunes library from my Macbook if my G5 is also using the same library? Two more quick points...
    1) I have tried the "sharing" feature and don't want to use it. It doesn't allow editing of my library and won't show cover art.
    2) The above situation happens whether my G5 ITunes is open or closed.
    Thanks everybody for your help.

They aren't using a single library. Each computer is using its own copy and you have two sets of library files.  It can certainly be done that way but if between copy sessions you edit a bit of each library then it is a bit of a muddle trying to make sure your versions are synchronized with each other.  For example, ratings are stored only in the .itl file, so if you rate a song on your second computer it will get lost the next time you copy over from your first.

  • Can two computers share one iTunes library?

I am trying to map out a new plan for how we store and play music via iTunes at home. Currently, our music is stored on a windows PC and played via iTunes and an airport express.  I recently bought a new macbook and am considering an airport extreme with the hope that I can store the music on a hard drive attached to the airport extreme and play music from either computer.  Can the two computers share one library? I already have home sharing turned on and can access my library from the macbook, but if possible, I would prefer having the hard drive separate of the desktop.  Any reason this won't work?
    Thanks!

  • Using two computers

use MacBookPro at home for itunes, music/vid and photos but need to use work PC for contacts and cal.
Is it as simple as downloading latest itunes on PC then turning off autosync features so it doesn't try to use the PC for music - then manually syncing just the contacts and cal?
Will this create any problems with registering the iphone to two separate machines? Will it eat one of the 5 licenses for purchased songs even if I don't let the music move from the iphone to the PC?
Also, any way to alter exchange server settings to make IMAP support the Cal and Contacts? or any other way to have them sync without physical connection to the PC.

I have spent several days going through every posting on using 2 computers and I have been unable to make it work. I use an intel iMac at the office and must sync contacts and calendars there. My home machine is a MacBook Pro and home to my music, videos etc. I have set the sync operation as manual on both, only contacts and calendars from the iMac and only the music, photos & videos from the MacBook Pro. I sync from the MacBook all looks and plays properly, go to work and sync to update the contacts & calendars and they sync fine but now I have NO music/books/photos/video. I'm running the most current software and just haven't been able to make this seemingly simple process work!

  • One account using two computers

I know there have been a few posts about this. But I can't seem to find a straight answer. Keeps talking about a PC and a Mac.
I have two macs, one at work and one at home.
    1. When I come home, I want to work on my home computer. Do I have to make sure all the programs are closed on my work computer, to use Creative Cloud at home?
    2. Im thinking about getting a new computer in a few months, can I easily then deactive my old computer and install the cloud on my new machine?

    Question # 1 answer:
You do not have to make sure the programs are closed on the work computer. The license agreement is that you will not use the software on two computers at the same time.
    Question # 2 answer:
As Amit has answered above. You have two activations. When you try to activate on a third computer you will be asked about deactivating on the others.

  • Shared Variables using Two Computers and Crossover Cable

I'm just trying to put together a simple bench test tying two computers together by a crossover cable.  They ping correctly to each other.  I used the LabVIEW examples for TCP connections and they talk correctly that way too.  I try to build and deploy shared variables on one computer, but the other computer will not identify the SV's on the first computer and vice versa.
Can someone give me some details on how to build, deploy, and effectively use SV's?  I've read all the NI documentation, but I'm not getting the step-by-step approach very well.

  • Proper setup for using two computers and backup drives?

I've just purchased Aperture 3 and want to fix a longstanding problem I've had with my workflow and setup in Lightroom. I've got an iMac and a MBP and what I'd like to do is use the iMac as my main computer for Aperture. My plan is to import my existing files into Aperture and copy them to an external (non-portable) hard drive for back-up purposes. Based on this, I'd have two copies of each file, one each on the iMac and the back-up drive, right?
I also use my MBP for a lot of photo editing work while on the road, but don't have a lot of drive space on it. I've bought a 750GB hard drive and I'd like to have the Library on this drive as well for use on the MBP. I know this would give me three copies of each file, but it would also give me some peace of mind in the event I somehow lost the info on the 750GB drive. I don't want copies of the images on the MBP directly as I don't have enough space.
Can this setup be "easily" done and if I make a change in an image on one computer will it be synchronized between the two computers and the two external hard drives? I guess in plain English, what I'd like to achieve is the ability to work on either computer and have the most recent versions synchronize when I attach the 750GB drive to the iMac, with the non-portable external drive as the back-up for the synchronized Library.
Thanks in advance for any help,
    Kevin

No, vaults only look after a managed library. A referenced library has to be backed up manually.
There are a few reasons i prefer to use a referenced set up. I use a MBPro on the road for long periods and sometimes high volumes of large image files, so the limited capacity HD is no longer a problem.
Aperture does not slow down with a referenced library as the HD fills.
The Vaults cannot be accessed like manual back ups can, there is no way of knowing what is in there, you hope it is your entire Aperture library.
With manual project backup you have a more manageable size that is much more versatile, and is viewable because of its smaller size. You can delete stuff and then restore it from the backup.
It is safer in my opinion to not have all the library in a single library folder. Much safer split up by project.
When i did use a managed library and Vaults there were times when i wanted stuff off the Aperture library but still kept in the vault, which was not possible.

  • Help with using two computers for iPod

So, as the title hints to, I use two different computers for my day to day activities and have now run into a big hiccup.
-I have, currently on my iPod about 475 songs. All were painstakingly loaded from their CD's onto the little devil. I did this at work in spare time (OK maybe not, but that's not wehat we're here about)
-Today I tried connecting to load some new songs, from my home machine, onto the iPod and it says it will erase all of my previous work.
-I did some browsing here and discovered things like Pod Soft or whatever but could none of those programs to work for me. I also attempted the shift/ctrl trick which failed as well.
-Am I hooped? Do I just face facts and use only one machine for this? What happens when I trade a computer? Actually, in the meantime I am not worried about that, I just want my new tunes on the iPod. I am feeling quite limited by this and understood it would be a much easier process.
Thanks for looking in on this and any advice given.
