USing two different SIM cards (different operators) with Iphone 4

What happens when I first sync my Iphone 4with Itunes?
The reason I ask is that I plan to first use it with a Swisscom card and thereafter with an other operator (other SIM card too) in Asia.
Anything I need to know or do differently? Any problem when I change the SIM card ?
Thanks.
English; Français oder Deutsch OK

I am always switching SIM in my unlocked 3GS iPhone, mainly in Switzerland, other European and Asian locations. Never had any problems with email, SMS and calls. Admittedly, I only sync with the Swiss SIM card installed. Most of the carrier settings are loaded on the SIM (or captured automatically) once the SIM is activated in its home country. Good luck!

The iPhone 5 will come with a new SIM Card in the iPhone ready for you to activate. If you want to make things a bit more difficult, you can cut a Micro SIM to the Nano Sim size with scissors. Of if you have any problems with your iPhone 5 and its SIM Card you can get a new one from your Carrier. But, again the new iPhone 5 will come with a new one for you.

Yes. The Camera reader is not compatible with iPhones.

If it is the nano SIM card size then you can use the same SIM card in either the iPhone or Android phone which supports the nano SIM card.

  • No sim card removal tool with iphone 6?

I called Apple Support and told them about it- they rep said that we don't get a sim card removal pin with the 6, but all the unboxing videos had the pins in them. Is this true, though?

So You don't get this with your iPhone box? Because I got this with my iPhone 4 box. Maybe they've changed it since then. Either case a paper clip solved my problem Thanks!

  • If I buy a Iphone 4 that has no sim card, can I use my 3gs sim card to activate this Iphone 4?

I found an Iphone 4 on ebay, and am wondering if I can insert my sim card from my 3gs phone, and get it to work, and then sync it with all my purchases on Itunes? I dont want to pay that much for a phone without being sure. Please advise what options I have. Thx

Yes, your SIM Card is compatible with the iPhone 4, but it will have to be cut to size of Micro SIM to fit in iPhone 4. Your Carrier can easily transfer your # to a Micro SIM for you. If in the US go to ATT store and they can provide you with Micro SIM Card.

  • Can I use a foreign SIM card in my unlocked iPhone 4s?

I Bought a second hand iphone 4s which was on Vodafone, then was unlocked for me by Vodafone to use on T-Mobile in the UK. I am moving to Germany in 2 weeks and want to know if I can use my unlocked iPhone with a German SIM card as my main phone? I don't want to have to buy another iPhone! Any help gratefully received!

For what it's worth - I travelled to the US for a one year period and I lived in California. The reply above is correct in stating that AT&T or T-Mobile are your only options.
To be honest, all you need is voice calls that aren't roaming as WiFi is pretty freely available - at least it was wherever we went.
You could just get a PAYG Sim card from one of the above providers - it was relatively inexpensive for us to use for a year so it should be perfectly adequate for you to use for three weeks.
Yes - there won't be data over Edge or 3G but as I said, WiFi is readily available.
The only issue will be converting an ordinary PAYG Sim into a Micro Sim for your iPhone 4. There are lots of videos showing how easy it is to cut one down - I guess you just want to make sure that it doesn't get stuck in the phone!
The other simpler option would be to leave your UK SIM in place and just turn off data roaming so you can only use WiFi. Then go and buy yourself a cheap PAYG phone from a Target or Walmart or similar. T-Mobile charged us $25 per PAYG SIM from their store whereas we realised we could get the same SIM with a cheap Nokia handset for $20 from the supermarket.
That way, you only need to make sure that you don't use your UK number for calls etc as US roaming isn't cheap.
    Hope this helps.

  • Does the iPhone 5 come unlocked so I can put in a different SIM card?

I'm going to study abroad in Germany for a few months and want to make sure I can use my iPhone 5 from Verizon with a different phone company over there by just using a different SIM card. Can the iPhone 5 be used with any carrier via the SIM card?

I never had a iPhone, but I have been researching that exact question.  It seems that Verizon iPhone 5's automatically come sim unlocked.  Which is not a full unlock where you are able to delete certain programs you were not able to delete when you first bought the phone.  A sim unlock will allow you to use other sim cards for other companies, but you will not get LTE data. According to Verizon spokeswoman Brenda Raney: "she says there's no plans to lock Apple's handset at a later point. In other words, you should be free to use a Verizon-locked iPhone 5 on any compatible GSM and HSPA+ networks for as long as you'd like, including with AT&T and Canadian carriers. Of course, this still brings the caveats of having to both buy a Verizon model, either at full price or with a contract attached, and track down a nano-SIM for the carrier of choice. It could nonetheless settle the question of what carrier to pick if you regularly need a passport when you travel.  I believe this article will tell you all you need to know.  if not, you can go to verizon if the phone is locked, and have it sim-unlocked, as long as you have a account with them in good standing.

  • Can I use a diiferent sim card in my ipad 4

I want to use a visitors SIM card in Barbados with my ipad 4 which has been used with an O2 SIM in UK. Can I do this?

    Hey Davids2885,
I found the following info about the iPad with Wi-Fi and Cellular:
Ready to take on the world.
iPad Air offers comprehensive support for fast networks around the world, and you don’t need a long-term contract. You can sign up for cellular connectivity only when you need it. Some cellular carriers even offer flexible shared plans that let you use the data service you already have. If you want a local connection when you’re traveling, iPad Air is ready. Just ask a local carrier about a short-term data plan, pop in a SIM card, and you’re ready to go.

Phone A = phone with information you want duplicated
Phone B = phone that you want to copy from A
    Backup Phone A.
Wipe Phone B using these instructions. What to do before selling or giving away your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch - Apple Support
Phone B should be on the 'Hello' screen. Do not swipe it. Launch iTunes. Plug in Phone B.
When iTunes asks if you want to set up as new phone or restore from backup, choose restore from backup of Phone A.
After this setup, any changes to one phone (i.e. adding a contact, downloading an app) will have to be manually duplicated on the second phone, if that is your desire). Making changes to one phone will not affect the other after setup.

Wow, Karan Taneja, you've just embarrassed yourself on a worldwide support forum.  Not only is your post ridiculous and completely inappropriate for a technical support forum, but it also shows your ignorance as to whom you think the audience is.  Apple is not here.  It's users, like you.
If you would have spent half the time actually reading the Terms of Use of this forum that YOU agreed to by signing up to post, as you did composing that usesless, inappropriate post, you (and the rest of us on this forum) would have been much better off.

I am planning to buy an iphone 4 or 4s in saudi arabia. can i use it in India with a different sim card? plz reply

Yep, but you won't have any warranty or support for this phone in India, nor will you have FaceTime. FaceTime has been permanently removed from all iPhones purchased from official sources in Saudi Arabia.

  • Syncing Contacts with Two different Sim Cards

I am going to be traveling to europe and I have an unlocked iPhone. What i need to know is when i buy the new empty sim card in Europe, how do i put all my contacts from my AT&T sim card onto the new sim card? Is it possible? Thanks.

Contact info in your iPhone's address book is stored locally on your iPhone, not on the SIM card, which is limited to a name and a couple of phone numbers anyway.
Removing the existing SIM card from your iPhone will not erase your contacts from the iPhone's address book since contacts are not stored on the SIM card and have nothing to do with the SIM card. Inserting a different SIM card from another carrier will not touch or affect your contacts stored in your iPhone's address book.
You can test this now. Power your iPhone off and remove the SIM card.
Power you iPhone back on and your contacts will be available.

  • Confused by what phone number shows up when iMessaging internationally after using two different SIM cards/numbers

I have a legally unlocked (by AT & T) iPhone 4s which is being used in Australia. First I had a "global" SIM card in it with a +44 (UK) phone number. I used that to text, iMessage and also used Whatsapp.  Then I switched to a local SIM card with a +61 (Australian) phone number. The weirdest thing happened-- can anyone explain?  I texted someone with the second/current Australian SIM card to a friend within Australia using data to do that and it was received as a text message coming from my Australian phone number. Then I walked into my building and my phone switched to wifi automatically (which I know is normal) and the next text message I sent her arrived as an iMessage but it arrived from my +44 number. That was the old SIM card no longer in my phone. I got a text back from her saying, "Who is this?" because she didn't recognize the +44 number! So, now I'm totally confused! How is that possible? The +44 number SIM card wasn't in my phone--so how could she get the iMessage from that number? Please help! What can I do to fix this?

You can try turning off/on iMessage to have it see your +61 Aussie number...
