Using two internet connections at the same time

Is there a way to setup my Mac to see both a wireless and a wired internet connection, so I can combine the speed of the the connections? If not within the computer, is there a way to do it some other way?

Hi
You can have two connections on your machine one wireless one ethernet but you cannot combine the two for a greater connection , you need to use one or the other you cannot use both at the same time as one connection

  • Use my two internet connections at the same time

I have two internet connections via AirPort, and one another via Ethernet.
Can I assign which applications use the connection using AirPort and other
    Ethernet connection?

Probably the EASIST way is to buy a router that does this for you. There are several on the market that can 'gang' two connections, then allow clients to use both together.
No doubt there would be a way to do internally, but to be honest, I'd have no idea where to even tell you to start, but I bet it involves the Terminal.

  • Using two network connections at the same time?

    Dears,
I have two available Internet connections:
1- a DSL connection which I'm connected with AirPort to,
2- and a 3G USB modem connection (Huawei E156G if you need to know) which I setup through Network Preferences.
Can I specify anywhere which connection an application should use at a given time, or all the time?
    For instance,
a- Safari and Mail should use exclusively (or at first try) the AirPort connection,
b- and iGetter (for faster downloads) should use the 3G connection
Let me point out that I setup the 3G modem in Network Preferences (and that's the way I connect to it).
By the way, if someone has trouble (which I had) setting up the Huwaei E156G on Snow Leopard, I can help.
Thanks in advance for any help.
    Abdelaziz

By default, the top-most service in the Network preferences gets the internet connection. All internet related traffic is sent on that interface.
As far as using both for internet at same time, I'm not sure how to do that. You might search for setting up routes. Routes in the network tell it to send certain things to a certain interface, but I don't know how to differentiate a download from web surfing, etc.
You might also want to try posting that question on the [Unix|http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=735] forum.

  • I have an Apple Ipad Air. I'm trying to use two bluetooth earphones at the same time. Can it be done?

I have an Apple Ipad Air. I'm trying to use two bluetooth earphones at one time. Only one works at a time.  Can two be used at the same time?  If so how do I get them to work?

The likely reason no one can connect to the mini when it is connected to your work VPN has more to do with your work than your home set up. The administrator at work would have to decide to allow for "split-tunneling", thereby allowing your mac to be connected to work and the outside world simultaneously.

  • Cannot use two iSight cameras at the same time

I use an external display on my laptop. Close the lid and work on the external display. I connect an external iSight, and a message says that the camera is already in use?!
Can I not use two iSights at the same time?

    Hello Webmaster
You can have two iSights connected at one time, but, as explained in Apple's iSight "Your camera is in use by another application" message, iSight can be used by one application at a time. (my emphasis) Check for any running applications, Login Items, or widgets that can use your iSight. (It is easy to forget widgets like Mirror in your Dashboard.)
Different apps select between multiple connected cameras in different ways. For instance, you use iChat > Preferences... > Video settings to select which camera to use, but iMovie 6 uses a drop-down menu as shown in this picture:
The suggestions in How to Troubleshoot iSight should help you determine whether one of your iSights is causing trouble. I suggest you test each one separately and without your external display or other peripherals to rule out possible conflicts like the one that user BombCreative reports in his post at http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=5868843#5868843
After you are certain that your iSights are working individually, test them when both are connected. After your system successfully passes these tests, you can add your external devices back one-by-one to be sure one of them is not causing the problem.

  • Phone call and internet connection at the same time?

Is the iPhone 3G supposed to be able to connect through 3G or Edge at the same time a voice phone call is on?
I can do that with Windows Mobile phones, using my SIM card. But I seem not to be able to do it with my iPhone.
Is this a limitation of the iPhone 3G?
Would that be enabled with a future firmware?
    Thanks for a pointer.
    Dan

If you are in a 3G area, you can use data at the same time as a call. If you are in an Edge area, you can do one or the other. The SIM card has nothing to do with how this works.

  • Using two Skype accounts at the same time

I need to stay online under two different accounts, so that I can chat with two different classes of clients.
As of today I can only alternate between users. Is there a way I can open two accounts at the same time?
I'm on an Intel iMac, running OSX Mountain Lion.
    Thanks for any hints.

There's no proper way to do it - although forcing another instance of Skype as a different user seems to work... but test it thoroughly yourself before using with clients. Audio plays from both apps, not sure about mic. input. I'm not recommending it, and only tested briefly with Skype 6.3.59.602, but anyway...
For example - if you create another user account on the mac - named test, and after opening Skype as normal in your usual account, open Terminal & paste the following + enter
    su test -c "/Applications/Skype.app/Contents/MacOS/Skype &"; exit
you should be asked for test's password in Terminal, then another Skype will open, although you'll likely get a warning message or two (choose cancel).

  • What is the best way to use two external displays at the same time?

One of my displays has HDMI, DVI, and VGA inputs. The other has VGA and DVI inputs.

Kappy is dead on correct about Bridge Mode as a requirement for the Time Capsule.
Do you know how to check to see if the Time Capsule is configured this way?
Next question.....you really should not try to have two wireless networks....one Arris and another Time Capsule.....unless it is absolutely necessary. Two wireless routers in close proximity can create wireless interference effects that can cause problems with either...or both...networks.
Best to turn off the wireless on one router to keep the chances of wireless interference between routers minimized.
Are both the Arris and Time Capsule providing wireless signals?

  • Can I use both Wifi and a Lan connection at the same time?

With me back in the dorms I have been limited to a slower connection than what I would like. Now we are able to use both Wifi and a Lan line so I was wondering to somewhat "double" my speed if there was any way to use both connections at the same time.
Now I know that you can have both plugged in at the same time, I guess what I'm asking is, is there a way that I could set programs to use one or the other? Or some kind of virtual desktop that is set to use the other connection or anything that would allow both be used at the same time.
Or am I just wishing for something that doesn't have any possible way to work?

You can use both at the same time, but not gor Internet access if that's what you're asking.
Now there is a thing called Link Aggregation, which combines a number of interfaces for speed/redundancy, but it really only works locally, and then only with ALL special equipment in the route, and most likely OSX Server involved.
    Sorry.

  • Can't i use xml schema and oledb data connection at the same time?

Hello to all and thanks in advance.I use xml schema and oledb data connection at the same time and the problem is that when I try to export the xml, the outcome is not what i expect.Without the oledb connection everything is ok (just the schema) and the xml complies with the schema.
Can't i have both schema and oledb and the exported xml be as i want it?

  • Connect two internet lines on the same cisco router 3945 series

i have two internet lines from the same provider and i have one router i want to connect the two lines in the same router
    any ideas !!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Hi,
    No problem, similar treatment. Follow
    1. Create IP SLA/Track for both internet link
    2. Break your LAN subnet into 2 smaller subnet
    3. Create route map, Match with 1 subnet & route the traffic towards 1st internet link
    route-map General_Internet_Traffic permit 10
    match ip address 115
    set ip next-hop verify-availability 10.1.1.1 track 1
    set ip next-hop verify-availability 11.1.1.1 track 2
    4. Create route map, Match with 2 subnet & route the traffic towards 2nd internet link
    5. Configure NATing/PATing over the interface, selecting by route-map
ip nat inside source route-map General_Internet_Traffic interface FastEthernet0/0 overload

  • Can I turn off the wireless and use the wired connections at the same time?

Can I turn off the wireless and use the wired connections at the same time?
This is to avoid transmission when I work without the need for wireless

Yes, you can. Just open the web interface of the router. On your browser type the IP address of your router, usually http://192.168.1.1 go to wireless tab and disable it.

  • 2 network connections at the same time

I have 2 network connections at the same time. One for network shares and one for internet. How can I decide which connection should be used for which service?

    David684,
Thanks for posting all of this.  I have a similar network question with a very similar setup that I am using with two interfaces. However, I am much less comfortable with the command line than you appear to be (although comfortable enough to crib little tweaks from the web and run them).
The real difference is the resources I'm after and it seems like more of a problem. In my case, I'm running my home wireless network and can connect at decent speeds, but I happen to live right across from campus where I am attending grad school and I'm picking up the school wifi network. Having direct access to this network, among other things, allows me to access library research journals and databases from home without constantly needing to authenticate. But it isn't nearly enough to accomodate all of my network needs. The key difference, then, is the fact that these come in the form of websites. But I want to access only library stuff over that we-fi connection and do everything else from the LAN.  I use an app called papers for research, which has a built in web browser to allow me to pull up articles and then save them. Would that help me by allowing me to have just that program use wi-fi? I am not sure if the app is using an embedded safari session or it's own home-rolled browser, or how to check in the first place (OR if that makes a difference as far as being able to route the app's traffic to that interface). Also, with all of that said, how could I find out the subnets over which to route this if what I'm going after is a far less tangible resource than an SMB share? I am guessing I need a different method or that none exist?
    Thanks

  • How to sync with two computers not at the same time, I'm registerd with one computer

How to sync with two computers (not at the same time), I'm registered with one computer and am trying to connect with second computer with same iPhone. To sync the first time with the second PC "Firefox Sync Option tells me Create New account or Connect, when I connect it gives me a Passcode and on iPhone it also gives me a Passcode, than how do I connect? Both the iPhone and PC gives me a Passcode and have now idea what to do with them.
Where do I find my Sync Key ? so I can install manually if it works ?

Use the Sync Key ''(Recovery Key)'' from the PC that you used to initially setup your Firefox Sync service, when setting up that 2nd PC with Sync. You need to use '''Add a device''' to setup the 2nd and subsequent devices on a Sync account. <br />
