Using two seperate networks

Hi,
I was wondering if its possible to use two different networks to download and stream onto time capsule,
My home internet is not so good so i was wondering if it is possible to take it to my place of work (Use their Guest Wifi connection) with their permission ofcourse so i can download to the Time capsule and then take it home and stream to my apple tv?

Time Capsule is the wrong device.
1. It is not a media player.. it has no media extensions or servers or anything. It knows nothing about Media.
2. The Apple TV cannot play raw files.. it plays files that are streamed to it from iTunes. The files must be therefore downloaded and converted to and included in itunes.
3. To download files for your home use via your work guest wifi, is possible.. but you cannot use a TC to do it. You need a computer. And you can load the files onto a USB drive of any kind.. even a thumb drive.
Work guest networks should be throttled to a speed that is slow enough to prevent you downloading movies.. which are after all a couple of GB in size.
If your work place allows you to download movies.. multiplied by all your staff members.. maybe you should get together and create a library.

How to use two different network cards on RT?

Hi everyone... I'm currently working on a project where I have to deal with the issue mentioned in the thread's topic: I have a PC with RT LabVIEW that has to be able to establish network connections using two different network cards. One will be used to connect via TCP/IP with a host computer that will show the data transmitted through shared variables; the other will communicate with another PC through Modbus protocol. The key is that each communication is done through a separate network card.
So far I haven't been able to figure out how to configure both things to happen. Does anyone know how to do this? Any tips will help.
For the RT communication I'm using a standard RT project, with the RT PC being given one of the IPs, and for the Modbus part, I created an I/O server with a master and a slave. Separately everything works fine, but when I get them together it simply won't work.

Sorry it took me so long to answer, I've been busy lately....I've found a solution to the problem I mentioned, and just in case anyone has similar problems in the future, I'll shortly describe what happened.
As Caseyw suggested, it was necessary to enable both network cards through the Measurement and Automation Explorer. The cause of the connections malfunction was actually that I wasn't using the "right" protocol for the Modbus communication, which ran on the secondary adapter. The solution was to use the URL protocol with the correct path on the field, addressing the right IP address. To avoid making this post a mixture of topics, I won't elaborate futher, but I got the gist of it, so if anyone is having similar problems whether it is working with several network cards or with Modbus communication protocols, feel free to contact me, I'll be glad to help.

Using two seperate operating systems on a Mac, and a smart-phone to better integrated the flows!

I am considering to get a new Mac.
In that I want to be able to use two seperate operating systems. The Mac operating system and maybe either a windows or linux or an other useful and functional alternative!
The reason for this is, that I have several laptops incl. an iPad. I have concluded that iPad isnt that useful for my needs till now, its not very functional for my needs. I am also going to upgrade my smart mobile still considering functional alternatives (would like to hear yoru thoughts about this as well)!
I want to integrate them into one machine only and utilize cloud and / or an external Disk, and be better able to use useful apps and software that are not available on either one of the systems on their own my own system!
Usage will be both for biz and private, but at the end usefulness, and functionality will play a big part in my final decision!
Do you think this is practical, useful and cost effective way doing it the way I want to do?

My reason for wanting to have windows on my Mac is to be able to utilize, some applications that are not available for Mac OS!
In the past I raised few points relating to that, and wasnt able locate details to consider to have only a Mac system. Thats why I had to have few laptops to handle all! I got myself an iPad(1) but again it didnt met the exact needs that I have!
Thats why I am going to integrate all in one new system(Mac), and exchange and process while on the road via smartphone or something that is between a smartphone and tablet!
As to smartphones; I hear positive notes on iPhone, but seems to have some issues with its antena, the new Moterola seems great to exchange files anywhere, and the new Samsung Galaxy, very advanced. However what I lack at this stage is user experiences to see if any of them can meet my needs, and what the best combination could be for efficiency, speed and value for money(laptop, operating sytem, smartphone).
I am tired of crashes, frozen screens, or not able to open files or pics because they are not compatible in some ways! I try to maintain, clean and update my systems, but some stuff does comes in between despite all!

Creating two seperate networks with 2 time capsules?

So i currently have two time capsules. The first one is bridged with my dsl modem and is acting as my internet gateway and backup for my main imac and macbook which are connected wirelessly as well as a file server with addition external harddrive connected via usb.
I want to connect an additional timecapsule via ethernet and use it to create a seperate wireless network that allows my guests, kids macbook and any of his hooligan friends to connect. The second time capsule will allow my kid to back his macbook up. I dont want this network to be able to access my up stream network with my main imac and macbook because I will not be issuing poeple access to it except myself and will lock it down with MAC address filtering.
I am worried as my kid or any guests I allow to access my network can or will be able to reach my main computers and I want to prevent that. Is this possible with two time capsules?

Now if this setup will reduce the NAT doubleing issue on the ps3, xbox and apple tv's thats good?
Should work as long as you understand that these devices are connecting to the Guest Network on your "main" TC. How well wireless will work going through all the obstructions is open to question.
You will also be sacrificing half of the bandwidth on your "main" TC when you enable the Guest Network feature.
There will still be a Double NAT for devices that are connected to TC #2.
My next question is how do I allow everyone to see my ethernet printer? Plug it into TM#2 ethernet port?
Not sure what you mean by "everyone".
If you plug it into the TC #2 Ethernet, devices on the TC #2 network will be able to see it, but not devices on the "main" TC network. Reason....TC #2 is on a different subnet than TC #1......unless you want to setup TC #2 in Bridge Mode.
If it were me, I would password protect all computers and devices on the "main" network, except the printer. Then, connect TC #2 in Bridge Mode and call it a day.
Users on TC #2 will be able to "see" other devices on the TC #1 network, but not connect to them unless they have the password for the device.

Two Airport Extreme (6th gen): Two seperate networks or one router one bridge?

I have fiber optic service and the modem that came from the ISP is wirelessly capable of old version of 802.11n and short range as well, it has four lan ports as well. So I bought two Airport Extreme (AE 802.11ac) and its working ok but I'm trying to understand the difference between the two scenarios in terms of efficiency and speed;
1. Fiber optic cable connected to modem. AE1 connected to modem Ethernet port 1
via physical Ethernet cable. AE2 connected to modem Ethernet port 2 via
powerline. DHCP disabled on AE 1 and AE2 and carried out by the modem. Wireless
on modem is of course disabled. SSID the same on both AE1and AE2 but 2.4 and 5
GHz channels are unique for each AE.

Your questions are really about a matter of preference. Both 1) and 2) are correct implementations.
In 1) above, the "modem" (which is actually a modem/router) is providing the routing services for the network.
In 2), the "modem" is acting as just that, a simple modem with AE1 acting as a router and AE2 acting as a "bridge" to AE1.
If you asked the support folks for your modem/router which setup was best, they would say 1). However, if you asked the support folks at Apple which setup to use, they would say 2).
AE1 and AE2 are creating separate wireless networks, but if you use the same wireless network name, or SSID, and password for both networks, everything will act like one "big" network. Technically, this is called a "Roaming Network".

Accessing two seperate networks

Ok here is my situation:
1. There are two completely separate networks. One which is used for the internet(it uses proxy servers) and the other which we use to manage a set of servers at remote locations.
2. I need to be able to access both networks at the same time as my email is web based and I need to copy and paste information often.
Right now I am having to change the service order so I can do both. Is there a better way to do this? A tweak somewhere or software I can use?

Using two wireless networks simultaneously

I have a Linksys WRT54G and a Time Capsule, and I want to be able to use the N speed of my TC for backups without it being wired to anything (I keep it hidden in the house somewhere).
What I'd like to do is to have the iMac join two networks, one for Internet and another for TC, but try as I might, I can't get that to work. It's like I can only turn on one network or the other. I have to have TC join the LinkSys' network as a G client.
Alternatively, if the TC could be a G client and a G+N provider, that would work, too.
So can anyone think of a way to get either of these scenarios set up?

You cannot simultaneously join more than one wireless network so your first solution won't work. You could simultaneously connect wirelessly to your Linksys and wired to your TC (or vice versa) and, so long as only one of them supplied a default gateway and they supplied IP addresses on different subnets, then that would work.
I think that you may be able to use the TC as an 'extender' but I'm not sure if that requires a wired connection between the two APs or if it can be both client and base station. If it is possible to be a repeater then you may find that you don't get much benefit from running G to the Linksys and N to the client.

How do you use two seperate iTunes accounts on one computer?

My wife and I have seperate iTunes accounts and content. We both have an iPod and iPhone. We purchased a new Macbook Pro because our other computers were fried. How do we both use the same computer to access our own iTunes accounts and sync our own iPhone and iPod to it to update our respective toys? I have already transferred all my content to the new laptop and am able to sync my iPhone and iPod. Now I just need to figure out how to get my wife's content on this new laptop so she can sync her iPhone and iPod. Does anyone know how to do this? I assume this is a common request.

one option would be to create a separate user account for your wife. click here to learn "how to share music between different accounts on a single computer"
another option would be to authorize iTunes to use/play content purchased with both your iTunes accounts.that's basically very easy. all you have to do is +log out+ of one account (click on the account name in the Store window and select +sign out+ from the pop-up dialog) and into the other, and then they will both be authorized. (be sure to just *log out*, not de-authorize ).

Is it possible to communicate with two different devices using two seperate serial ports in the same labview program?

The two bits of the program will talk to each instrument successfully if the other part of the program is not running. i do not need them to communicte with both serial ports at the exact same time, just within the same program, one after the other. i am using labview 6. any ideas of what i could be doing wrong?

If you are using the Legacy serial VIs, you should really switch to the VISA VIs. Also make sure you are opening a session to each of the com ports at the beginning of the program and closing each at the end of the program. Problems can arise if your try to open a session to a port that already has a session open. Also you should update LabVIEW to 6.0.2
If you are still having problems post the error code and error message you are getting.

Trying to use two seperate video clips on one consecutive screen.

I'm very new to this but I'm trying to get these two video clips I have, and set them side by side on one screen so both clips are showing at once. Can anyone help me? Thanks!

put the 2 clips one above the other on the timeline
press w ( to change your Canvas view to Image and Wireframe )
select upper clip in the timeline and note the wireframe outline that then appears in the Canvas
click and drag a corner of that wireframe to resize (scale) the image as you would like
click and drag within the wireframe to re-center as needed.
select the lower clip in the timeline and then repeat the resize and re-center process
as Mr Certified so eloquently pointed out, these scale and center parameters can also be found and manipulated (somewhat less intuitively) in the Motion tab if you load up each clip into the Viewer

How do I get my music from my account on old computer to new computer? And how do I have two seperate itunes accounts on one computer?

I had my music on my itunes on my old computer (pc), and need to move it to my husband's computer. My husband and I both have iphones and want to keep using our seperate itunes accounts on one computer, as we both have our own media set up on our accounts. I had burned my music from the old computer onto discs and imported onto the new one...works in the library but I can't put them into playlists, which means I can't put the music on my iphone. As for using two seperate accounts on one computer, it was suggested to me to make another profile on windows (vista), and use the second account on that profile. I did that and have had such a frustrating time trying to get this to work. I don't know if I've done something wrong, but it's just headache after headache. Somehow my apps even ended up on my husband's account? Also, how can we share music between our profiles? It seems ridiculous that we should have to buy an album twice just because we have to different accounts. I would be willing to create a third joint account with my husband, but only if we can still have our own music, apps, etc, and can somehow transfer the music we have to this new account...if possible. Suggestions please???? I'm so close to pulling out my hair over this!!!

You'll need to copy the music currently on your iPod to your new PC and into iTunes first before you can sync it to the new iPod.

Same Private AS number on two seperate MPLS provider networks

To All,
I have a customer utilizing private AS number 65100 when attaching to MPLS Carrier A.
The customer decides at each location he wants to add a second router and a second carrier for redundancy - and also wants to utilize the same private AS number (65100) when attaching to MPLS Carrier B.
The CE's would only be utilizing network statements through eBGP to advertise subnets to each carrier and only run one way redistribution from eBGP to the IGP at each location.
Would there be any circumstance why Carrier B could not accomodate AS 65100 on their network - even if another customer is already utilizing AS 65100 on Carrier B's network?
I am very certain that two seperate customers can utilize the same private AS number on Carrier B's MPLS network. Please advise if I am correct (or not).

Hello Brian,
your understanding is correct there are no technical reasons that would prevent ISPB to accept the customer to use private AS 65100.
There can be other possible reasons like ISP policies (they may be used to assign a private AS number to customer) and procedures.
