Using Usb cable?

I have tried using various mini USB cables to connect my BB to my desktop PC
I have used a cable with separate power and with out. I always get a message saying there needs to be a connection with more power.
How is that achieved?
Thank you

This may be due to the USB port not being a high-powered USB port, try another USB port in your CPU to see if that rectifies the issue....

First, knock off the all caps typing. It is considered shouting, rude, and is just plain hard to read.
Since you use the term "PC," are you using an Apple computer or something that is Windows based?

When attempting to connect phone to stereo using USB cable get message saying USB not recognised ??

If you have content on the SD Card you can change to Mass Storage mode to get this to work: Main Menu > Settings > Xperia Connectivity > USC Connectivity > USB Connection Mode > Mass Storage.

  • Since downloading IOS 7.0.4 my iPhone will no longer sync using USB cable because of "Error -50"?????

Why, after installing IOS 7.0.4 will my iPhone only sync with my MacBook Pro using wi-fi and NOT when using the USB cable? An error message appears citing "Error -50" for which I can find no recent fix online as all the problems are related to some years ago?

Thanks, Lawrence. I figured that was what I was going to have to do in the end. I have a few games with quite a few hours invested, and I worry that I'll lose the progress I have as they do not save to the cloud. I may have to bite the bullet, and just take the plunge to resolve this. I just want a way to easily transfer my "Home Computer" for my iPhone. My laptop is years old and in need of being replaced, and it's about time to upgrade my phone. These life events piling up are making me consider switching to a friendlier OS. I'm not using this as a threat. I just hope some apple high up will read this, and realize that we need alternatives. Life happens.
Thank you both Paul and Lawrence. I clicked "This helped me" not knowing it would remove the option to choose "This fixed my problem" too. For anyone else reading this thread. Using the guide provided has done both. It has helped me and given me a fix to my current problem. Lawrence has also provided me with the last bit of information I feel is missing from wjosten's guide. That syncing will completely erase all of your data and reinstall it in one fell swoop. It's a great fix. Even if it isn't the exact one I wanted. Thank you again!

  • External HDs not recognized by iMac when using USB cable

I just bought a new iMac & plugged in my two Western Digital 1tb drives using the supplied USB cables and neither of them are recognized by my iMac.
I've been using both of these drives with my other G5 iMac using the firewire cables & have not had any issues. I also purchased an adapter (USB -->firewire 800) and each hard drive mounts ... but neither will mount using the USB connections.
Any suggestions as to how I can get the second drive to work using the USB cable ...
    Thanks,
    Brent

+do I need to move the contents of the external drive off the unit before the partition?????+
YES! Absolutely! The partitioning process erases the drive, so you need to temporarily copy data onto your old Mac.
+how do I achieve this? I'm guessing there's a piece of hardware that I'll need to connect the two hard drives together and then feed another line into the iMac ... correct?+
All you need are firewire cables (hard drive to hard drive to iMac). See Dennis' link and the excerpt here:
+Question 7: Can FireWire devices be connected in a daisy chain?+
+Answer: Yes, and if the devices are designed according to the FireWire standard, they can be turned on and off as needed. For example, all devices don't need to be powered on to use the last device in the chain. For the best result, and to avoid overstressing the FireWire port, connect one FireWire device to the Macintosh, then add one device at a time to the chain. Avoid plugging in live power adapters into devices connected to the chain.+
And congratulations on your new iMac - you'll love it; I got mine about a month ago.

  • Can't import photos using USB cable

I have a Canon 5D Mark III and LR 4.3. I normally import photos using a CF card reader. However, I'm on vacation and only have the USB cable that connects the camera to my Macbook Pro. I've used this successfully in the past to import photos, but I'm now getting the following error:
I get this whether I select one or multiple photos (there are about 195 on the card right now).
    Any ideas?

When I plug my 5DIII into the Macbook Pro, I don't see it on the desktop. It does appear when I open Image Capture or Lightroom. I tried importing from Image Capture, but that doesn't seem to work either. It hangs on the first file. Is there any way to get the 5DIII to appear on the desktop so I can just drag the files over?

  • Can I back up by using USB cable?

I have a Macbook, i used to back up via internet, but my internet shut down recently, I can't connect any internet at my place. So, can I still use airport to do the backup? and how? maybe the USB cable can work?
    Thank you!

You do not need an Internet connection to perform a Time Machine backup from your MacBook Pro to an Apple Time Capsule or 802.11ac AirPort Extreme base station. Your MBP just needs either a Wi-Fi or Ethernet connection to that base station.

  • Can't Write to my Micro SD card on my phone using USB cable

I can see the files on my krzr phone when mounted via usb cable, but I can read/write using Bluetooth just not with USB isn't that wierd?
(I've read some forums about locks on the cards this is the super tiny kind with no slidable lock)
If have a lot of music want to transfer and the bluetooth takes a while
Can't change when look at permission in info.
    Any thoughts..

You can likely read/write through bluetooth because that wouldn't require any extra software on the Mac's end. I think that accessing the phone through USB requires interface software on the Mac. The KRZR may not come up as what is called a "USB Mass Storage Device" and thus can't be used as a disk. What you can do is take that MicroSD card and put it in a MicroSD --> SD Adapter. Then you can get a USB card reader and put the card into that and it would mount on your Mac. As far as I know about Motorola phones, you would be able to put MP3's, photos, etc on it, but I don't think ringtones can be transferred this way.

  • Nokia 6682 not recognized by iSync (using usb cable)

Isync does not recognize my new Nokia 6682 when using a USB cable. My Powerbook does not have Bluetooth. I also don't see an icon on the desktop or any other evidence that the phone is connected to the powerbook. Do I need to change any settings on the phone or the powerbook?
    1 Ghz Powerbook G4   Mac OS X (10.4.7)

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Synchronization and file transfer to Nokia supported mobile handsets and smartphones is not supported via USB - you must instead use Bluetooth. As a general rule, such events are supported via USB only with Motorola mobile handsets.
To address you issue, you should purchase a D-Link DBT-120, the only third-party external USB Bluetooth module explicitly supported by Apple. You can learn more about Bluetooth in the Bluetooth Other Devices forum, here:

  • Curve 8330 Shows full charge using USB Cable on Desktop, but isn't fully charged.

I have an issue with my 8330 and Charging. I plug it into the computer using the supplied USB Cable to download/ upload media while it charges using my desktop. Last night it indicated it was fully charged, so after downloading some things onto it, I shut it down and disconnected it from the desktop.
This morning I got to work and turned it on and the battery life indicator on the home screen showed it was 3/4 charged. The time on the clock was off also and I had to go in and update the time in the settings tab. When I returned to the home screen from updating the time, the battery indicator showed half full. This is the second incident where after charging the phone either on the USB Cable connection or the wall charger, I've turned it on the next morning only to have half a charge or a little more. Any information on this would be helpful. Thanks!
    Brian

Try Restoring it (this will remove all data from the iPod), resync, use it until the battery is low, and then fully charge it. And make sure your Dell is set to provide full power to USB ports.

  • Transferring old photos from Ipad to Imac using usb cable or local wifi?

Can anyone tell me how I transfer old photos from Ipad to Imac?  These were originally on a PC (now disposed of).  I can see how to transfer new photos from Camera Roll using Iphoto, but my 10 year archive with 1000s of photos appears stuck on my Ipad.  I have a very slow internet connection, so I can't send them across by email and would like a solution involving the usb cable if possible.
Worryingly this question appears several times in old threads but appears to be unanswered, but I will be pleased to be referred to the right thread with all the answers - if it exists!
Thanks in advance to anyone who can help me.

Connect the iPad (USB) to your Mac then launch the Image Capture app. It's located in your Applications folder.
You can import photos from the iPad using that application.
You can even designate where you want to the photos stored on your Mac and which app you want to use for editing from the bottom of the Image Capture window.

  • Mx860 won't print. printer not responding using usb cable.

MX860 was working fine.  Now any attempt to print from any pc, either wirelessly or even using high-speed USB cable results in "printer not responding" error message.  Any ideas?
