Using USB Network Adapter

I got a blu-ray player for Christmas, and it has a USB port. Can I use Qwest - Wireless-N USB 2.0 Network Adapter to connect to my wireless network set up with an Airport Extreme? Thanks!

If your blu-ray player's USB port supports a Wi-Fi adapter, I'd guess it would work. You should check for that compatibility with the blu-ray vendor.

  • G4 Won't Boot after Tiger install and Belkin USB Network Adapter install.

I'm sure this would apply to my G5 as well.
I installed Tiger on my G4 and it restarted and opened to desktop. Great!
Next, installed software drivers from Belkin USB Network Adapter.
    Restarted computer,
Screen has firmware 'like" look asking me to type mac_boot.
I do this and the next screen is all grey with two small purple folders in the corner. I believe one was flashing!
    Nothing happens just stays there.
How can I get back to normal boot mode?

    tigerswim, welcome to Apple Discussions.
Did you already have Tiger installed or did you have Panther 10.3 installed? Tiger is not a free upgrade; you have to buy it & then update (for free) using the download updates from Apple. Also, you have to use a universal/retail install DVD (or CDs) to install Tiger. You cannot use the install DVD from another model Mac.

  • Using USB Highpower Adapter and SL 10.6.1

I am wondering if anyone uses ALFA Networks USB Highpower Adapter 802.11G with Realtek RTL 8187 WLAN Driver and Utility for Mac OS 10.4.
I am 10.6.1 now and this driver causes kernel panic presumably requires update to 10.6 etc.
Has anyone solved this problem or knows where to find appropriate driver/software that will work with 10.6?

Rebuild is at the bottom of the mailbox drop down menu
I had a similar problem that I think began when I tried to send a message and something went wrong. It is definitely a problem at the program end because I have a second computer that worked without disruption.
I have tried the rebuild but that didn't happen because I think the problem is with the account file or something and the issue prevented the rebuild working.
What seems to have worked for me is to archive the mailbox (right click on mailbox - archive) and then delete the account in the preferences settings. I then created a new version of the account (very easy) and it then downloaded all my emails again. It does take a little while and I would recommend logging onto the internet version of gmail and deleteing all the unnecessary emails, especially ones with attachments as they take a while to download again. At least leave it to do it in the middle of the night or something.
    Hope that helps.

    thank u
    alex

    Hi Alex,
If you are using a standard virtual switch in SCVMM, then you should only need to add the multiplexor adapter to the virtual switch, do not add the physical adapters.
If you are using a logical switch then since VMM will create the team, its important that you do not team the two physical adapters in advance, instead you just add the two unteamed physical adapters directly to the logical switch and VMM will team
them automatically according to the settings specified in the port profile.
For the above to work you need to make sure the logical switch (in my case "Datacenter Switch") has the uplink mode set to "Team".  The uplink port profile will also need to contain the desired teaming mode and load balancing algorithm.

  • Multiple networks using single network adapter

    Hi,
If I have only single network adapter in a OVM server (or  single bond interface bond0 created from two network adapters), is it possible to separate networks for
VM management, live migrate and VM public networks using any mechanism, say by creating VLANs?  I am having two 10G adapters in each of the VM server
and would like to separate traffic of each of these networks.  Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
10G adapter is the best NIC performance so with two NICs like this, i recommand you to use the bond0 (mode 1) for fault tolerance and use the VLAN technology to separate the Networks.
Note that Oracle VM support the VLAN configuration.
I hope this can help you
    Best Regards

  • How to solve power error when using USB camera adapter in your camera

    Hello Everyone,
First of all I wanna say reducing the output of the USB camera adapter from 100mA to 20mA just to save battery life is by far the most incredible adjustment in the history of @)#*$#%*($#!
I know most of us bought the USB Camera adapter so we can use it as a USB adapter for the Camera (saves us from taking the memory card on and off the camera) but sadly the "Ginues Apple" reduced it to 20mA which decreases the range of cameras and flash drives that will work with it. I use Gopro Hero 3+ black and everytime I plug it with the adapter to my ipad I keep on seeing this @#@$#@ power error. I didn't want to waste the expensive adapter so I tried to look for a micro sd card reader but I don't think 20mA readers still exist.
Now to solve this problem is very simple add a power source to help that 20mA up, most of the my friends bought a powered port hub but it's not my type because it's bulky, needs an outlet and not portable.
So I found a better solution on how you can add a power source and still be portable, the answer is power bank or portable charger.
    Things you need:
    Camera
USB camera adapter (Ginues Apple product)
Power bank (I'm using 8,400 mAh)
Dual USB Male to 5 Pin Mini USB Y Cable
    Ipad
    Procedure:
Camera --- 5 Pin Mini USB ------------------ USB camera adapter ---------- Ipad
                                                   '---------- Power Bank
Attach you camera to the 5 pin mini usb then the USB1 male to the female apple's USB camera adapter then to the Ipad. = this will show the power error.
Then attach the USB2 to the power bank/portable charger to power it up.
    your welcome

  • Windows Vista hotsync using USB infrared adapter and Vx

Using Vista 32 bit and palmdesktop 4.1.4 to hotsync with Palm Vx.  I purchased a usb infrared adapter since my computer only comes with usb ports, no serial ports.  Got the infrared usb adapter to work, now I am not sure how to configure hotsync manager.  Do I select infrared or usb.  Selecting infrared doesn't seem to work and the touchscreen then locks up and I have to reset the Vx, which is painful. Any other configuration changes I need to make to get this to work?  Thanks
    Post relates to: Palm Vx

On the Vista PC, if it is 32bit, you can use Palm desktop 4.1.4 and the serial to usb cable.
Here is the link to Palm Desktop 4.1.4

In regards to sync'ing with the MAC using infrared, you will need to do a search on the internet for a USB/infrared adapter for your MAC. Make sure it says it is for a MAC 10.5. There are many different makes and models.

  • [SOLVED] Using a NETGEAR WN111v2 USB network adapter with Arch Linux

    Hello!
I just recently bought the adapter mentioned in the subject, and hoped to get it working with my lovely Arch Linux OS. (I had read somewhere online that it should work some way or another; ndiswrapper or a kernel driver). However, I've yet to get it working. I tried the tips I found:
    Here:http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php? … ht=WN111v2
    which links to here: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=885520
Basically, it tells me that I should use ndiswrapper with the arusb_xp drivers provided by NETGEAR. So I place the three files arusb_xp.inf, arusb_xp.sys and arusb_xp.cab in a folder, and run:
    sudo ndiswrapper -i arusb_xp.inf
    ndiswrapper -l
    arusb_xp : driver installed
    device (0846:9001) present
    sudo ndiswrapper -m
    sudo modprobe ndiswrapper
This should install my drivers, add an alias in modprobe.d/ndiswrapper saying "alias wlan0 ndiswrapper" and load ndiswrapper in itself... right?
But after a iwconfig I can still see only eth0 and lo, no wireless interfaces at all. I checked lsmod, but couldn't find any conflicting drivers loaded.
Anybody got an idea why it worked for the people with Ubuntu and not me? Any and all help greatly appreciated!
    Cheers
EDIT: For some magical reason, the drivers that came with my adapter did NOT work, while the drivers on the second link, named the same, DID. I have not inspected how they differ, but luckily, they work. Yey!

  • How to use USB Y adapter with HDD 500GB V63700-A

    Hi,
My external HDD V63700-A500GB has difficulty working in my USB2.0 4 port adapter.
I thought perhaps it needs more power going into it.
So I bought a USB-Y but I can not figure out how to use it.
It has 2 male USB connector wires and a very small narrow one which does not go into the thin wide socket of the above HDD.
Anybody uses these things to advise me how to?
    ...... thanx
    .....nick

    Thanx Joel,
definitely looks like the correct one but, can you give me a link on where to get it?
I keep googling for a "USB-Y cable for external hd" with no luck.

Replace the logic board? DT & T Computer Services will do it for $195 plus shipping to and from Fremont, California.
are there any that are mac 10.2 compatable?
None that I know of, but I'll ask some of the networking gurus if they know of any.
Is going wireless with an original AirPort card an option for you?

  • Linksys Wireless-G PCI Adapter w/Speedb or Linksys Wireless-G USB Network A

I am currently using a Linksys Wireless-G Broadband router on my G4. The PC in the house is using a Wireless-G PCI Adapter w/Speedbooster. Both machines connect to the internet without issue.
I am adding a new G5 to the mix. I plan on using the router on the G5. I plan on purchasing a wireless adapter/card for the G4. Will the Linksys Wireless-G PCI adapter work on a Mac G4? How about the Linksys Wireless-G USB Network Adapter? How about other manufacturers products?
Any assistance will be appreciated. I will need to move work files from the G4 to the G5 ASAP.
    Thanks.
    G5 2.3GHz & G4 355 MHz Mac OS X (10.4.6)

    Hi there
Before thinking about wireless cards for the Mac (a minefield!) you can hook your G4 up to the G5 using Target Disk Mode. See this:
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=58583
You can then transfer what you need from the G4 to the G5 even before the G4 is back on your network.
As for wireless cards, here is a list of supposedly compatible cards:
    http://home.earthlink.net/~metaphyzx/Wireless.htm
However, approach with caution as manufacturers change the chips on these cards without warning. If you can't get hold of an original airport card, then the safest bet would be to go for a Sonnet Aria Extreme, made by a company that specialises in Mac products (I have no affiliation by the way). It's not the cheapest wireless PCI card out there but it is one of the few guaranteed to work with a Mac. Hope this helps.

  • Hyper-v Client in Win10 Enterprise Technical Preview does not boot to PXE via Leagacy Network Adapter after OS is installed using gen 1 BIOS

Using Hyper-v within Windows 10 Enterprise Technical Preview to boot a Win 7  Legacy BIOS (Generation 1) Operating system client does not boot to PXE legacy network adapter after operating system has been installed within the Virtual Client.
Hyper-v Client will boot to PXE Legacy Network Adapter only when no other boot device is available and no OS is installed.
Hyper-V settings seem to ignore BIOS - Startup order within Hyper-V Client Settings and will always boot to VHD before Legacy Network Adapter even if Legacy Network adapter is first in the startup list.
IF VHD is deleted and a new VHD added to the Client then will boot to PXE using Legacy Network Adapter. Again once OS is installed then will not boot to PXE Legacy Network Adapater.
Gen 2 BIOS/UEFI works as expected and boots to PXE network everytime.

  • Wireless Internet network adapter

I recently got an internet adapter for a USB port because I don't have a airport card. The problem is the setup in Internet connect, I"m just not sure how I know I have the configurations correct. The adapter has cd startup, but is only for pc. I downloaded the drivers, and in ZydasWlan the utilty for the adapter, I see the connection and it shows the strength and varying connection, so I can see the wireless network, but can't connect. I'm using a Hawking mini wireless-G USB network adapter. HWU54G is the model type. In internet connect, what happens with the setting changes, and in the network under system preference, how do I know if I need to set up the TCP/IP or PPP? Thanks to anyone that can help.

I have exactly the same problem as you do with my Ibook G3, I am using a Belkin wireless G adapter, the first time I plugged it in and installed the driver from the net it connected and was great, I ran software update and updated itunes as a test and it worked like a dream but ever since I restarted then it is having the same problem, the Belkin is talking to the wireless router and there is a good connection but Safari will not show a web page, keeps saying I'm not connected to the internet?? Pulling my hair out trying to get it to work, all I have on my ibook is a fresh OS X.4, Any help will be greatly appreciated, I know it must work as I have sat there and got on to the net with it and downloaded, just can't understand why it now won' t work.

  • USB network stick in iMac g4?

Can I use my Belkin High-speed Mode Wireless G USB Network Adapter in my iMac g4? And how do I configure it?

The adaptor MUST have Mac drivers to work at all. If they are not on the CD that came with the adaptor, you'll have to look at the Belkin web site. If they canot furnish drivers, you'll have to look for an adaptor with better Mac support.
The early G4 iMacs had USB 1.1 ports that cannot support the faster wireless speeds like "g." Later iMsc G4s have the faster USB 2.0 ports and will work much better with a USB wireless adaptor.
