Using USB to transfer old iphone data to new iphone

Upgrading from iPhone 4S (OS7.0) to iPhone5C.
1.  Is using direct USB connect to Win7 desktop better/faster than WiFi to cloud?  If USB, is anything different than going to cloud?
2.  Do I do this before/after activating the iPhone5C purchased from VZ?
Thx.rabTeam

I would not pretend expertise on this, but I would think that iCloud or iTunes would be a better way to transfer data from an old iPhone to a new one. What I have done in the past is backup everything on the old phone with iTunes, then restore that backup on the new phone.

  • Firewire connection is not supported. Use USB to transfer songs...

Got message on my ipod saying "Firewire connection is not supported. Use USB to transfer songs" and then it says "Press Center to dismiss"
    Restarted the ipod no use!
Connected with my PC no use! (its just charging) does not update of hooked to itunes)
Any ideas how i can fix this??
P.S I have tried cleaning the docking and the cable for any dirt still no use!

Does it give you this error all the time or only when plugged in with the cable?
If it does it all the time, have you checked the dock connector for bent pins?
If it only does it when plugged in, have you tried a different cable?

  • Hi, my daughter is using one of our old iphones as an ipod (no phone service) It's listed under my apple id. when we downloaded the new updates, she started getting ALL of my incoming and outgoing text. How do I change this?

Hi, my daughter is using one of our old iphone's as an ipod (no phone service) It's listed under my apple id. when we downloaded the new updates, she started getting ALL of my incoming and outgoing text. How do I change this, without clearing her phone and loosing all her songs/etc....?

I did this on my phone. Her phone isn't activated, no cellular service. So, for whatever reason it won't even let me tap on SEND& RECEIVE, to uncheck anything

  • If i subscribe to itunes match can I use this to transfer my music to a new laptop

if i subscribe to itunes match can I use this to transfer my music to a new laptop

    Don't.
    1) Match would be horribly slow unless you have a tiny library.
    2) Match won't transfer all file formats. I am pretty sure it is just music.
    3) Match may degrade your music quality if you use high quality file formats.
Why not simply copy the whole iTunes folder to the other computer using an external drive, then start iTunes on the other computer while holding down the option/alt key and select the copied folder?  This will copy the entire library intact.

  • Can I use someone else's old iPhone?

I broke my iPhone 4 and my AppleCare has run out. Someone I know has an old iPhone 4 they're not using; can I use their old iPhone?

If their old iPhone is locked to a carrier that is not yours then you need to contact that carrier and ask them to unlock it as this will then allow you to use the sim card of your carrier. Best thing would be to ask your friend to contact the carrier as they would most likely have them as the account holder.

  • How do you transfer old iPhone 3GS apps/contacts/etc. to a new iPhone 4?

Ok I want to get a new iPhone 4, but when I do I don't want to lose my Apps/Contacts/Photos/etc. So how do transfer all that stuff from one phone to another WITHOUT USING ITUNES? Nothing is on my iTunes, so how do I transfer everything just using one phone to another?

Everything should be on your itunes and included in your regular backup of your computer.
Everything on your iphone should also be on your computer. If your iphone crashes, then everything is gone if you fail to do this.
You cannot transfer from iphone to iphone, you must use itunes.

Hi, and welcome to the Palm Community Forums.
If your new E2 is brand new and never been synchronized before, just connect to the Hotsync cable, make sure you have the correct Hotsync ID selected in Palm Desktop, and synchronize.
If the new E2 is used, do a Hard Reset on it first, then Hostync as above.  This article discusses the various types of Reset for different Palm devices:

  • Transfer Time Machine Data to New Hard Drive

I recently purchased a Seagate 250GB FreeAgent External Hard Drive ($75 at Buy.com, with shipping and a five year warranty!) and decided that when it arrives it would be my dedicated Time Machine drive, though I am currently using a 75GB hard drive that I had laying around the apartment.
What I am wondering is that if I can, when the new drive arrives, drag the Time Machine files that are on the old drive to the new one, then designate the new drive for Time Machine backups.
The reason I want to do this is to create a relatively seamless backup from when I first got Leopard, as opposed to starting over again (which I can do, but defeats my purpose to some degree).

    Hi,
Yes, you can do this. I have recently done the exact same thing. See this thread for details:-

  • Getting old LiveType data into new LiveType

I had the LiveType that came with Final Cut Express 1. Now I have the newest version and none of the old livefonts etc show in the media manager. I've looked about online and to my surprise can not find any information on this. The manual mentioned something about an install/uninstall button on the lower left window of the media manager but the only two buttons in the lower left are grayed out and unclickable. The data was installed before the upgrade and was reinstalled afterwards- no luck. All the files from the original install are AFD format.
Any assistance is greatly appreciated! I need the Sunflower livefont to work for a project I'm carrying over from the old version! EEK!

An hour on the phone with tech support and we figured it out. Appears when upgrading (at least on my system) the old LiveType data folders were OVERWRITTEN. The livetype data folder in LiveType Application Support was there, but the font, object, etc folders were replaced. Reinstalling the old data DVDs does nothing. You have to move the original folders (for example the Pro Series folder) and rename it (to something like "Old Pro Series") then put it back in the appropriate place after the upgrade is done. Now I have all my old livefonts working just fine
Hopefully a fix will come out for this as I know I'm not the only person who has had this problem.

  • Using sqlldr to load old UNIFY data into oracle 11g

I have a dump of an old UNIFY database whitch I need to build a controlfile to import to oracle using sql loader.
the main problem is that the file is containing records for 64 tables
the dumpfile is starting with the name of the table, and then data for each column in that table. like this:
    RSLT|0|26/09/2005|1281|2|LD|S1|0|0|  223|223.000000|Centra|27/09/2005|10:13|Centra|27/09/2005|10:13|3|0|3984|180|24069844193|379650048|247075485|134233305|0|
    SMPL|0|26/09/2005|1281|3||5|ALLE|2|1|177|0||26/09/2005|**:**|svi2|||**/**/****|**:**||0||0|0|**/**/****|00:01||286138573|2560|
I have build the ny datamodel in oracle, and it is the same as in the old UNIFY system. so that is not a problem.
but HOW do I tell sqlldr that there is not data from just one table but 64..??
the tablenames and how to difference them is the main problem..
This is an urgent issue.. I need helt fast.
    any suggestions?

    Hi,
You can do something like that
    --- Control file--------------
    cat aa.ctl
    LOAD DATA
    INFILE '/home/oracle/MYSHELL/aa.txt'
    TRUNCATE
    INTO TABLE RSLT
    WHEN DBNAME = 'RSLT'

    DBNAME position(1),
    col_1,

    col_4
    -- dat file----------
    cat aa.txt

  • Attempting to use USB/Easy Transfer from XP to 8.0

Easy Transfer copies XP for a minute or so, then pop-up says "Problem with selected media".   No further info provided.  New unused 64GB SanDisk.  What do I do now?  Thanks from old guy that doesn't speak computereze.

Thank you.  I used the Link to format the Removable SanDisc as NTFS.  Began EasyTransfer again, but with same result.  "Problem with media".  Is this the problem, and is so, the fix?  My Computer recognizes the removeable drive
as "K".  However, on ET, when asked where the files are to be stored, the Line defaults to removable disc "F", with options of G, H, I & J.    It will not let my type in "K".  ??

  • Transfer old iphone (2G) to new iphone (3G)

I have the original iphone but just got my dad's new iphone 3G. How do I make the switch to the new iphone? Do I just take the sim card out of the old or do I have to go to the AT&T store? Thanks.

I would get a new SIM from AT&T.
This is what the AT&T store did when I went in to do something similar.
You can call and ask them.
