Using variable name for Netstream Publish() (actionscript)

Relatively new to Actionscript. In the netstream publish() or play() methods, can I pass variable names to the methods instead of hard-coding the stream name?
Example:
private function publishLiveStream():void
            ns = new NetStream(nc);
            ns.addEventListener(NetStatusEvent.NET_STATUS, netStatusHandler);
            ns.client = this;
          // blah blah other stuff...
           ns.publish("thefilename", "record");
I want to replace "thefilename" with a value passed from an input box or use dynamic naming (i.e. current date & time).

Is there any way you can use a String variable to name an object? I.e., something like:
String name = "objectName";
\\ create an Image object named objectName
Image (name.valueOf()) = new Image();
This code obviously does not work, but I'm working on a map applet which uses a map composed of thousands of tiles, and then shows only a portion of the map by drawing the appropriate tiles into the window using the x/y coordinates and a nested for loop to determine which tiles to draw. However, unless I want to manually declare and then call each of these Image objects, I need to have a way to have the actual name of each image object be a reference to a variable, which I will then initalize according to the name of the tile I'm using. Does that make sense at all? Anyway, I was just wondering if anyone knows of any way to do this. Thanks.

Typically this is done using a Collection, for example:
Image[] img = new Image[100];
for (int i=0; i<img.length;i++)
img[i] = new Image();... Sort of thing.

Using variable name for target dir in OdiExportMaster tool

I am using OdiExportMaster tool to export master repo on daily basis as backup. But for the target directory option in the tool, I am not able to use a variable (variable fetches the directory path from a pl/sql table).
Please provide a solution for this.

Here is my command :

What is the name of the DB Link and the name of the object you are selecting
from?
I find it easier to create a view on the remote object then use that in selects.
e.g,
Link Name = MyLink
Object_name = Addr_Loc
create or replace VIEW Rem_Addr_Loc AS
select * from addr_loc@mylink;
In the code I then use the view

for C_Rec in (select * from Rem_Addr_loc)

How to use P=name for Physical path name via t-cd:file

Hello experts,
I want to define physical path name using <P=name> for add-on programs.
It is desirable to save files on another drive from SAP installed drive.
I don't know which profile parameter can be changed.
I'm afraid if standard logic wouldn't work when I change a parameter.
I'm not sure, but DIR_TEMP doesn't seem to affect standard logic.
What parameter should I use for add-on?
Or can I create own profile parameter?

In my detail block I have 10 rows displaying that may or may not have data after querying. To set the default value in the detail block, you have to set the index value of p_session.set_value. Since I don't know how many rows are already populated, I'm setting the default value to all 10 rows. Is there a better approach?

I think the best solution is to read Pages documentation, go to Help and you have a long list of options. Pages is capable of quite sophisticated things, some features are above Nisus or Mellel, so it is not so simple to summarize things in a few lines.

Yes, it will affect roaming profiles. Please rename the roaming profile folder as the new user account name, in addition, change the profile path in ADUC.

Dynamic Variable name (for int/long) from a String variable

Hi,
I want to give a int/long variable name from a String.
for ex.
String str = lookup + "Id";
lookup is a String variable coming from XML. Now, for instance lookup="name". So str = "nameId".
Now I want to create a int/long variable by nameId.
Could anybody tell me the way how to do. Please don't tell to use MAP.

Well you can't. Use a Map.
The compiler translates variable names into slot numbers, either within an object or withing the local "stack frame" and these slot numbers are assigned names at compile time. No new slots can be created at run time. Java is not Basic.
Reflection allows you to find existing field names and methods (not local variables), so it's possible to map, for example, XML attribute names to field names or setters in an object but the names have to be known at compile time.

Need Selection variable name for "System Year - 1"

I have Fiscal Year field in the selection screen of a custom program. The value of this field comes from system variable.
I need to create a variant where this fiscal year should have the value "Current year - 1".
This has to be done using Selection Variable. Currently there is no such variable in the F4 help (TVARV table).
Please tell me if there is a way to get such a selection variable...

I cannot use the FM in the AT SELECTION SCREEN ON VALUE-REQUEST.
When you create a variant for the program.. click button "Variant Attributes" - Here the checkbox for Selection variable is ticked for this field. Now click "Selection Variables". here we can provide the variable name which comes from TVARV table.
I need this Selection variable. I am not allowed to do any program changes.

Method 1 :Right click on variable in Query Designer and find the where used list.
Method 2 : SE16--> RSZGLOBV -->Enter the variable VNAM as 'Variable Name' ->Get the VARUNIID> Go to table RSZELTXREF --> Enter the values of VARUNIID in TELTUID --> Get the list of SELTUID --> Go to table RSZCOMPDIR --> Enter the values of SELTUID in COMPUID --> Get the list of COMPID -->COMPID is the list of queries

How do i filter the records in analytic view by using variable/parameter for a time range

i have a analytic view which has a output column as date type. i want the user who use this view have the control to decided the output records based on a time range (from x to y).
i tried to create 2 variables, 1 for start_time, 1 for end_time. Ideally, i should have a expression for filtering data like this:
$$start_time <= date_column <= $$end_time
However, the variable windows doesn't seem to be feasible for the expression as above.
Does anyone has the same problem and get it solved?

just figured out by my own. So the answer is using "variable" with "range" option.
Making a variable, then set the "selection type" to "range".
When preview the data, the variable input window pops up with operator on default "equal", use dropdown list to swtich it to "between", then you can enter the start_time and end_time as a range filter.

FTPs connection error:When using Variable substitution for Directory path

I am transferring data from BI to xml file via PI: Here a Client proxy from BI sends the data to PI and the PI FTPs the XML file to a remote location. For FTP I am using FTPs SSL connection.
It was working fine untill I used Variable susbstitution to determine Directory path dynamically. I am using this because different xml files are intended to goto the different locations.
I did the variable substitution like this:
Target Message Structure:
---> Target Directory: %var1%
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?>
<MT_BI_EXTRACT_FILE>
<Header>
<Directory>/Customer</Directory>
</Header>
<Detail>

And in the variable substitution I am doing it this way

And the error I am getting is:

I guess the problem is not with Variable Substitution..
Error when getting an FTP connection from connection pool:
So its a connection problem..
Also check the option Disable Security check and try again...
Try to check again if the interface is executing properly without Variable substitution and let us know..

How to get LR using unique names for each file?

Hey there,
I see LR does modify the name of the File when there is already one file with the same name in the folder of import, but once you choose a different folder it does import the File with the original name. I just realized that over the years using Folders such as Pictures 2009, Pictures 2010 and so on, I have three or four times Files with the same Name. Is there a way to tell LR to always use unique names when it imports?

Use a date-description-sequence.ext naming template for renaming as you import [or if you prefer after you import]. This means you never have duplicates unless you for some bizarre reason use same name description for two sets of files on same day. And if you need to do just that, simply make the start number of second/third lot of files be one number greater than previous batch from same day.
You can set up what ever naming format you desire in file rename dialogue and have that as your default.
Leaving files names as they come out of the camera is asking for big trouble as invariably they will duplicate, which is not a good idea even if in different folders.
F2 gets you renaming dialogue when in Library.

Split PDF and use field name for file name

I have a pdf file with 333 pages that I will be splitting into 333 separate pfd files. Each file needs a specific name that corresponds to a number located in the header of each individual page.
Splitting the pdf is easy, unfortunately I can only use a static name for part of the file name and Adobe assigns the remaining portion with: _Part1.pdf; _Part2.pdf ect.... How can I get the "_Part1" to pull in the number located in the header of each individual page?
I need to have this done before tommarow morning and there is another PDF which will be 555 files after it is split.

Fiona - John's suggestion is to use a PL/SQL API call to get the email_address attribute from the wwv_flow_users record for a user account. There is no corresponding substitution string but you could create an item in your application and set it using this API. Keep in mind that this applies only to APEX user accounts, i.e., if you're using other authentication methods such as LDAP, SSO, Database Account, or custom tables, then the email_address will not be accessible using the API.
