Using Vuze with OS 10.9.3 and Airport Extreme version 6.3.2

My Macbook Pro recently died, and I had to purchase a new one. I transfered the contents of my old laptop, to my new laptop, using Time Machine. I've gotten most of my applications to work again. One exception is Vuze. When I do a NAT/Firewall test, I still get the error "No route to host" when testing the incoming TCP Listen Port. (By the way, when I test the Incoming UDP Listen Port, it come back as 'OK!') I'm using port 28253, which I believe is in the range that wouldn't cause me a problem.
I've been able to use Vuze, when at a friend's house, so I don't believe the problem is with the software. I suspect I don't have my routered configured correctly, although everything was working great on my old laptop. From what I've read so far, I believe the problem has to do with port forwarding.
I don't believe it's a firewall problem, because it appears that the firewall is off (although once I discovered that, I realized that for security, I also need to configure this, so that I can turn the firewall on and still have Vuze work.)
I've been to the Port Forward website, which had some information that I thought was helpful, but the examples seem to be using an earlier version of Airport Extreme, so the screenshots weren't similar to what I was seeing, and I got lost, unsure of what to do next at certain steps.
So... in a nutshell. Trying to use Vuze, on a Macbook Pro running 10.9.3, with an Airport Extreme version 6.3.2 router, with Comcast as my service provider, using port 28253, and getting the error "No route to host", when running the NAT/Firewall test for the incoming TCP Listen Port.
Anyone have any possible solutions I can try?

Double check your adapters. 10.9.3 may require additional hardware support.

  • Setting up network with ATT Uverse, Time Capsule, and Airport Extreme..HELP

    PLEASE HELP!
I have ATT U-Verse which provides their own router. My Time Capsule is connected to the router (in the living room) via an Ethernet cable and has been working fine, and is set up like this:
Wireless Mode: Join a wireless network (I joined the ATT network 2wire)
    Network name: 2wirexyz
    Wireless Security: WPA/WPA2 Personal
    Channel: 5
    Connect Using: Wireless Network
When I try to add my Airport Extreme (for wireless printing in the office) by adding it to the same network (I've also tried to extend the network option) the Airport Utility thinks forever then comes up with an error and the Airport continues to flash amber. I've tried resetting the Extreme multiple times and configuring different ways but same result.
What am I doing wrong?? Please help, my wife is giving me grief for not being able to print wirelessly from her MacBook!!
Thank you in advance for any help you can give me!

    Thank you Tessarax....
So does that mean I need to create a separate wireless network? I apologize, I'm not extremely familiar with how to complete what you've suggested. I know I've seen the bridge mentioned before in the Airport Utility when I've been trying different things. Would you mind giving me some more specific instructions please? Actually I just tried messing around with Airport Utility, let me know if I'm headed in the right direction:
For TC wireless mode I want to "Participate in a WDS network"?
Then where does my WDS remote come from? is that the Airport Extreme? I've plugged in the AEBS but it's not showing up in the Airport Utility...
I'll mess around with it some more tomorrow morning. Thanks I'll let you know how it goes.

  • Troubles with D-Link DIR 600 and AirPort Extreme

    Hi guys
The question might has already been raised but I couldn't find anything in any other threads helping me.
I've got a new router (came along with my new ISP) D-Link DIR600 which I tried to connect to my AirPort Extreme to have a secondary WiFi available. My devices are connected in this way:
Internet Modem ---> AirPort Extreme (cable) ---> D-Link 600 (cable).
                                            |                                   |
                                            |                                   |
                                       WiFi(1)                          WiFi (2)
While my APE is just working perfect the D-Link doesn't. I can connect to my DLink Router though but the "Internet" somehow won't get passed through.
    Any help
    Thanks a lot

The dlink probably does not have a bridge mode.. so you have to use WAN bypass.
    See this post for details.

Or flash your DIR600 over to dd-wrt so you can use it in WAP mode.

  • Web Sharing with Leopard 10.5.2 and Airport Extreme Base Station HELP!!!

Ok...I want to set up web sharing on my computer but so far my attempts have failed.
I have an intel iMac with Leopard 10.5.2 installed and I have the latest Airport extreme base station (With draft n).
I turn on web sharing, and of course it works locally but not when trying to be accessed over the internet.
Now I realize that by default my routers address wont let anyone connect to my computer over the internet.
My router has an ip of 10.0.1.1, and I assigned my computer a static ip address of 10.0.1.200.
Now in the network preferences pane and the airport category, i set my computers IP (the 10.0.1.200), I put the gateway as 255.255.255.0, the router as 10.0.1.1 and the DNS as 10.0.1.1
Now going over to the airport utility I added a new entry in the port mapping section, with port 80 (both public and private) and the IP of my machine, 10.0.1.200.
Now in theory this should work but NOOOOO.
Does anyone have the same setup? a wireless network with the new airport extreme base station and has successfully configured Web Sharing?
    Thanks in advance.
    Felipe

    Well here is an update.
I saw an entry in apple support that said I had to change some setting in the apache folder /etc/apache2 in order to avoid getting the 403 forbidden error. I tried this and it did not work, i checked my user configuration file as well and the path to my home site directory was correct
Anyone here have a similar setup and has it working? It shouldnt be too hard to set up web sharing through a router. It has to be possible or else a lot of people would not buy a router because of this.
thanks in advance to anyone kind enough to help
    Bye.

  • Adding QoS with a switch between modem and Airport Extreme?

Since the Airport Extreme does not offer any QoS,  is this something I can add to my network with a QoS capable unmanaged network switch such as this one -  http://www.dlink.com/ca/en/home-solutions/connect/switches/dgs-105-5-port-gigabi t-ethernet-switch    ?
    My network would then be wired like this;
    Cable Mode --->  D-Link DGS-105 --> Airport Extreme --> wired / wifi network devices
(I might add a switch after the Airport Extreme either way at some point to increase the number of wired devices)
Nothing other than the cable modem and router would be plugged into the D-Link switch...  -  but will this actually make a difference, will it cause any grief on my home network?  Is there a better way?
If its relevent,  the primary reason I'm thinking about QoS is so that video chatting, streaming (on AppleTV or computers), or online gaming isn't interrupted by other devices browsing the web, downloading, etc.   I've got good bandwidth from my ISP, but in my house there are 3 Apple TV's, 4 computers, 3 iPhones, and 2 Xboxes......

Based on your goal, I would suggest that you take a look at this article. With QoS you are controlling which traffic gets priority going upstream to your ISP, not the other way around. Instead, I believe you what you really want is to implement a form of VLAN. Like QoS, Apple routers do not natively support VLANs. You would need a router, like a Cisco RVS4000 to do this. VLANs are not dependent on physical switches, although you can assign a separate VLAN segement, one to each Ethernet port of the router. You can then attach the AirPort to one of the Cisco's VLAN segments. Any device, wired or wireless, connected to the AirPort would get the same priority.

  • Comcast with Blast, Docsis 3.0 and Airport Extreme Setup w/ a fadding signal

I hope everyone is well on the board.
I just rencently got upgraded to the Docsis 3.0 telephony modem from Comcast, where I should be getting 50mb to 60mb down.
I am trying to have the setup of the AE's ( I have 2 dual bands ), and a Timemachine which I am using as my network.  I have one AE at the modem and its in Bridge Mode and the other two devices are extending the network.  The two AE's are on the same level (basement) and one is in one cornor of the house and the other is at the opposite side and the TM is one the third floor.
I want to broadcast in N to take advantage of the speed and I am having an issue getting the signal through to the end of a large concrete patio with plenty of rebar consistently.  Its odd, the wifi siganl is up and down all the time, I am wondering is there a channel that I should be on that would be better or I am going to
have to purchase another AE to ensure the strength is constent.
    Recap:
1 AE in bridge mode conected to a comcast telephony Docsis 3.0 and one TM and one AE extending the network
2 AE's on the basement level and the TM is on the third
large concrete patio a little higher than the basement level
Fadding signal to the end of the patio
Thank you for your time and helping me with my 1st world problems.

    Hi Sr.Yason,
Thanks for the thorough description of your setup.  I do have an article that provides information on interference and may have some information that helps you improve the signal to the end of the balcony:

  • When I use Thunderbird with Yahoo Groups, Google groups, and other email lists, I don't get a copy of my own emails back from the list (I do with Mail.app)...?

When I use Thunderbird with Yahoo Groups, Google groups, and other email lists, I don't get a copy of my own emails back from the list. I *do* when I use Mail, so it seems like a Thunderbird thing. I'd really like to see my own emails come back to me in the conversation so that I know where my remarks fall in the discussion; it's very disorienting when you can't tell if your email has arrived at the list, or not. I can't seem to find the setting, and I've searched thru your help topics, etc., to no avail. Thanks.

It's both gmail and mac.com email accounts, and it's all email lists -- including some privately hosted on servers, that are not Google groups, not Yahoo groups.
I'm not sure what you mean by "saving a copy of your messages yourself" in Mail -- if I email to the lists with Mail on my laptop or iPad, I can see it on my desktop computer too, right in line with other email messages in the thread, after the list resends the message I've submitted. It's only Thunderbird that this "invisible posts" behavior happens, and it didn't use to happen this way. I used to get my emails posting right in the thread.

Ok so I have a free standing iSight Cam, is it possible to use it with my white MacBook ? and if so how do I go about it ? I've tried researching for updates, drives but need help. Can someone give me some direction ?

jpatricio787 wrote: ... is it possible to use it with my white MacBook ?...
OK so yes, but if, and only if:
    (1) your MacBook has a Firewire port (not all do)
        - and -
    (2) your old external iSight camera works (not all do)
        - and -
    (3) your MacBook is working properly.
If you are not certain whether your MacBook model has Firewire, you can search MacBook Technical Specifications for your model.  Alternatively, check the  User Guide Manual that came with your MacBook for the information you need to be certain.
If you are not certain that your old external iSight camera works, you can test it using the suggestions in this link.
jpatricio787 wrote: ... if so how do I go about it ? ...
Follow the instructions in your iSight User's Guide to connect and turn on the iSight.  Then launch the Apple app you want to use with your iSight.  If you need more information about using an app, search for "camera" (without the quote marks) in the Help menu choice for the app.

Yes you can, and it's then up to you whether to have the same the same or different content to the older one. When you sync to it your computer for the first time it may be best to give it a different name, just so that you can distinguish them.

  • Is the Time Capsule wi-fi router compatible with the Nest thermostat? I've read where there are issues with the Nest and Airport Extreme (AE)? Is AE used in the Time Capsule?

I've read where there are issues with the Nest and Airport Extreme (AE)? Is AE used in the Time Capsule?
If so, i already have a wi-fi router, so can the Time Capsule simply be used for wireless backup instead of as a router if there is conflict?

A TC is fundamentally a AE with a sata chip included to drive the hard disk. Some slightly different bios to include disk functions, although most of those are also on the AE. So as a router it is 99.999% identical.
And yes, if you have another router you can easily bridge the TC and use wireless for backups and internet connection. Once you no longer route through the TC the issues with most NAT problems including port forwarding should disappear.. mostly this is due to all apple routers using NAT-PMP instead of upnp which is the near universal standard for opening ports.. without upnp apple keep their routers more exclusive.

new help with my mac air and airport extreme time capsule dont know how to save to time capsule and use as a external hd would like 2 store my home videos and pictures on the time machine (ONLY) as the MAC AIR has storage space limited space please help. THANK YOU.

See the info here about sharing or using the TC for data.
    Q3 http://pondini.org/TM/Time_Capsule.html
It is extremely important you realise.. the Time Capsule was never designed for this.
It is a backup target for Time Machine.. that is the software on the computer that does backups.. it has no direct connection to the Time Capsule.
It has no ability to back itself up.. unlike all other NAS in the market. It is therefore likely one day you will lose all your files unless you seriously work out how to backup.
The TC is slow to spin up the hard disk and fast to spin down. iTunes and iPhoto will continually lose connection to their respective libraries.
iPhoto in particular is easy to corrupt when you move photos over wireless into the library.. once corrupted all is corrupt. A single photo will ruin it all.. so backup is utterly essential.
Time Machine cannot do backups of network drives. ie the TC. You will need a different backup software like CCC. You will then need another target to backup to..

  • Extending a network with Time Capsule and AirPort Extreme (via Belkin powerline)

    Hello -
I've seen many topics about extending wireless networks here, but none seems to resolve the issue I'm having. I currently have a setup where a DSL cable modem is connected to a Time Capsule and I need to extend this network to another room using an AirPort Extreme.
I live in a very old apartment in Brazil and the walls seem to block the signal from one room to another, hence the need to extend it. Since wireless signal is very weak between rooms, I bought a Belkin powerline AV500 so I could connect both Time Capsule and AirPort using the electrical power at home (just installing a regular Ethernet cable between rooms is not an option).
I started with the basics: configure the Time Capsule + DSL as a standalone network, and it works perfectly within it's range. Then I connected the Belking powerline, plugged a MacBook via Ethernet on the other end and still got very good results (actually better speed than expected). Used it for a while with streaming and other network intensive tasks to make sure it could sustain the connection.
Finally, pluggned the AirPort Extreme on the Belking powerline and this is where the problems started. AirPort Utility 6.3.1 only gives me the option of extending a network wirelessly - it doesn't seem to give me the option of extending it via Etherenet (roaming), which is not good in my case. Luckly I had a copy of AirPort Utility 5.6 which seems to do the job (or I thought so), but it's still not working well.
Although I managed to configure both with the same name, it doesn't seem reliable and some devices (the iPhone 5, for example) are unable to connect and end up with a self-asigned IP address. I'm almost sure I'm doing something wrong on the setup, as I've seen a similar setup working before, so if anyone out there has any clue of what can be done, it will be much appreciated.
Attached the screenshots of both Time Capsule and AirPort Extreme configurations.
    Thanks a lot,
    -TM

    Time Capsule:

Hello JuliaApple. Welcome to the Apple Discussions!
You have several ways to configure both base stations for what you are trying to do.
The simplest would be to configure the Time Capsule (TC) to "join" (AirPort Utility > Manual Setup > Wireless tab > Wireless Mode = Join a wireless network) your existing 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn). In this type of configuration the TC would perform as any other wireless client and not perform as a router. It will; however, still allow for both backups and sharing USB devices attached to it.

  • Apple TV 1st generation cannot use AirTunes with Apple TV 2nd generation or Airport express 2nd generation

Is it normal that Apple TV 1st generation cannot use AirTunes with Apple TV 2nd generation or Airport express 2nd generation? I want to play music synced in my ATV 1st gen. to a nymber of speakers in the house. In the list of speakers I can see Apple TV itself and my two Airport Expresses 1st generation but not my Apple TV 2nd generation or my Airport express 2nd generation. For the ATV 2nd gen. I found a solution: when I enable the Airplay setting of XBMC which is installed on my ATV 2nd generation, then AirTunes in ATV 1st gen. sees the speaker "XBMS (Apple-TV)". Itunes can in my Macbook pro can use Airplay with all my speakers, i.e. ATV 1st gen., ATV 2nd gen., Airport Express 1st gen., Airport Express 2nd gen.

Last time I checked ATV1 could not use Airtunes to send audio to an AppleTV 2 or 3 - highly annoying as you think they would have kept backwards compatibiility for audio, but it seems Airplay is more than a superset of Airtunes.
