Using WAD 3.x

Hello,
I want to use at a current BW 3.X system the WAD for creating web templates. Now I have the following problem that if I want execute the web template only a site with chineese signs is showing on the screen. If I use fro creating the wizard I can see the right result e.g. ad hoc query designer as easy exampkle.
I have done a comparison of URL's and I have also took a look into the SAP notes for creating the URL's. But I can't find any advises why this strange thing is the current situation.
Perhaps someane as a advise for me? This will be great.

The problem is with HTML coding generated charset=unicode .you have to change charset = UTF-8 , Every time you open the edit of Web Template you have to repeat this Step. I feel there is no Solution other than this. This is a Windows relate error any way not related to WAD. For More information refer the SAP Note 1390941.

In order to modify particular cells in WAD you would need to use the table interface. Refer to this document:

Long Texts in BI: displaying in Web report using WAD

Hi, Gurus!
Assumtion is that:
*) user uses EP portal to access BI reports;
*) these reports are pre-formatted, preferably-static, and with print option (maybe via xls or pdf format);
*) Win Gui is NOT an option to use in EP;
Here is the Question:
Is there any ready-made recipe how to get BI reports containing Long Texts on web (most possibly by using WAD - Web Application Designer)?

NOTE to clarify 'static': I am not looking for a precalculated report/document. It should be like a normal query. But from a users point-of-view it is just a report he/she can ONLY print out. That's it; no drill-downs, no filtering, no nothing.
Wouldn't there be these long texts (texts in several columns, that should be displayed as one column) + header & footer formatting;... Then I could use regular EP iView template (and pure query made in BEx Query Designer as data source within it).
NOTE 2: user just have to click on a hyperlink in EP to access this report. No parameters should be submitted by user.

you can use the Head tags inside you WAD HTML Code
Just Type
<h3>You text here </h3>
the above code should come in the <head></head> tag

*** Question How to load a file into BI-Integrated Planning and use WAD 7.0

Hi, I created an manual DTP upload to my planning infocube and it works fine. The transformation rules convert 0CALMONTH into the relevant Calendar and Fiscal characteristics. So all of my Time Characteristics are fine, both Calendar and Fiscal.
However, When using the "How to load a file into BI-Integrated Planning and use WAD 7.0" solution, only the Calendar Characteristics are populated and not the Fiscal. The upload application somehow knows to populate the 0CALMONTH2, 0CALQUART1, 0CALQUARTER, and 0CALYEAR.
How can I get the upload to populate my Fiscal Period Characteristics?
Would it be best to modify the "Upload Application, or can I write a planning function to update the fiscal characteristics, or some other way?

My planning data is being uploaded via the SDN Planning File Upload Solution. What I did was end up modifiying the upload class ZCL_RSPLF_FILE_UPLOAD Method EXECUTE.
I added the following code if anyone is interested.

The steps to be followed in the creation of Dashboard using WAD:
1) Open a New Web template in WAD.
2) Define the tabular layout as per the requirements so as to embed the necessary web items.
3) Place the appropriate web items in the appropriate tabular grids
4) Assign queries to the web items (A Query assigned to a web item is called as a data provider)
5) Care should be taken to ensure that the navigation blocku2019s selection parameters are common across all the BEx queries of the affected data providers.
6) Properties of the individual web items are to be set as per the requirements. They can be modified in Properties window or in the HTML code.
7) The URL when this web template is executed should be used in the portal/intranet.

Error while using WAD

Hi Gurus,
Am using WAD and did manage to create a Web Template(Dataprovider : Query) and saved them.Now when I try to execute them on a Browser,the page cannot be opened.I tried refreshing ,but in vain..Or is there any settings i should maintain before using WAD and displaying in browser..

Hi Obuli,
If you are executing a query in browser from a WAD application, the generated link should have entry in the configuration file of the hosts. Then you will be able to view the result of the query in the browser.
goto your local "hosts" file in system folders and add an entry in following format.
[YOUR IP ADDRESS] [DOMAINNAME]
e.g.
170.10.20.30 xyz.abc.com

Change order of key figure is not working in Web report output (using WAD)

Hi,
We are using BI 7.0, release 701 and level 008. We are facing problem in WAD (web report output). When ever we do 'Select filter' for key figures and 'change the order' of key figures, it does not get reflected in new order. Though drag and drop of key figures is working.
Though same change order is working fine in Bex Analyser.
Kindly suggest some inputs.

Need Calendar Year as a Variable in the Title of a Table using WAD 3.5

I am using Web Application Designer 3.5 for the first time.
I am modifying a template that has the following table object in it:

The Caption of the table is currently set to "Employee Information". I need the Caption of the table to say "2007 Employee Information" where the year is the previous year. In other words, if the web application is executed in 2008, the title would say "2007 Employee Information". If the web application is executed in 2009, the tilte would say "2008 Employee Information".
I am very new to BW and WAD so a detailed explanation would be greatly appreciated.

Goto the Query Description and click on the Text variable icon.
Create a text variable of processing type as customer exit which populates the previous year value.
Use this text variabkle along with the Query Description. So your description will look something like &TXT_VAR& EMPLOYEE INFORMATION
Attach this query as dataprovider to the table item in WAD and you can see the table caption as the previous value followed by Employee Information.

Expand/Collapse of structure in Query using WAD command

i have a query in which i have 3 selections inside a formula, and the formula is in collapsed state. Now my requirement is to expand the formula using a button in WAD so that the three selection columns inside the formula can be seen. How can this be realised using specific commands in WAD ?
