Using Weblogic Commerce server as a web server
Hi ,
We have a requirement to display the MSWord documents in the browser. As per the
documentation(of standard MIME types) ,Weblogic does not support the files with extension
.doc to be displayed in the browser. Please let me know how to go about this.
P.S:I have defined a new context-root to hold all such documents and have deployed
the same using a new web.xml.
Thanks in advance
Sunil

You can access Word files from Weblogic. No problem. Just set the content
type and file length in the HTTP response and stream the Word binary file to
the response output stream.

Use of external LDAP server in Weblogic Commerce Server
I'm using the following software:
Iplanet Directory Server v5
Weblogic Application Server v6
Weblogic Commerce v3.5
I need to configure Weblogic Commerce Server to use Iplanet Directory Server directory
services. How do I do that?
I have a couple of questions related to this:
1) As Weblogic Commerce Server runs on top of Weblogic v6, does it mean that to
use an external LDAP server, I need to configure weblogic v6 to do that and not
Weblogic Commerce Server?
2) Whatever may be the case above, how do I do that?
3) config.xml (weblogic application server v6) contains information that needs
to be modified to point to an external JNDI source provider but what information
do I need to modify?
I'd really appreciate if someone can help me out here. Thanks!"JP" <[email protected]> wrote in message news:[email protected]..
Hi,
I'm looking for someone who has used the Lotus LDAP server for WLP7
authentication.
I connect my portal to the Domino LDAP, User and Groups are working
fine, but the membership of a user to a group is not.
I assume that it's related to the parameters I use (especially the
membership.filter ?):
"user.filter=(&(uid=%u)(objectclass=person));
user.dn=O=Apac;
membership.filter=(&(uniquemember=%M)(objectclass=groupOfNames));
group.filter=(&(cn=%g)(objectclass=groupOfNames));
server.host=jpgal01.apac.bea.com;
group.dn="
Any help would be appreciate, because I just don't where to look for.
Try setting the com.netscape.ldap.trace property.
\* When -D command line option is used, defining the property with
* no value will send the trace output to the standard error. If the
* value is defined, it is assumed to be the name of an output file.
* If the file name is prefixed with a '+' character, the file is
* opened in append mode.
This will create a ldap trace file of the requests that WLS is making on the
LDAP server. You can then see
where the filters are not returning the correct value for the group
membership. -
Relation between Weblogic Commerce Server and Documentum
hi all,Where is usage of Weblogic Commerce server in relation with Documentum? we are already using weblogic 5.1 Appln server.Thanks in advanceGopi
Hi Gopinath,
Documentum is one of the 11 vendors who currently provide an
adapter for use with the WebLogic Personalization Server, which
is the basis for the WebLogic Commerce Server. This integration
is via an SPI (Service Provider Interface) that makes all CM
systems appear to be the same to WLPS/WLCS users.
Thanks,
Skip

PeterDouble-check the weblogic.policy file in your WLS 5.1 installation directory. My codeBase and
FilePermission for my WinNT installation looks like this:
grant codeBase "file:C:/wls/-" {
permission java.io.FilePermission "C:${/}wls${/}-", "read,write,delete,execute";

Problem with Weblogic Commerce Server 3.1
I am currently evaluating the Weblogic Commerce server 3.1 product. I have
installed the Weblogic server 5.1 and the service pack 6 along with the

navigate the store categories and search for items but when I try to add to
the shopping cart or view the shopping cart I get taken to the 'servererror'
template. I have included at the bottom of this message the message from
the log file. Does anyone have any idea why I am getting this error?

Web services with Jdeveloper using weblogic as server
Hi,
I try to test creating PL/SQL web services by using a connection hosted by weblogic server instead of OC4J. The problem is what I try to publish a package of the database in the second stage when it asks for the connection to use, in the list I don't found the connection I create to weblogic . It presents as choice only connections used the server OC4J.
I do not Know if it is possible to publish a package as web service by using weblogic server connection, and how to do it.
can anyone help me please .
NawalWeb services can only be published to BEA if you install Apache SOAP on BEA and use the Apache SOAP option of JDeveloper. The J2EE Web Services implementation framework is specific to Oracle9iAS.
The PL/SQL Web Services server implementation is based on the J2EE Web Services option and as a result is not really portable to BEA.
To publish a PL/SQL Web service on BEA with JDeveloper you would have to write the Java wrapper code to invoke the stored procedure using standard JDBC and then publish that Java class as a Web service using Apache SOAP. Then if you had Apache SOAP installed on BEA you would be set.
Portability of Web services implementations is a big feature coming with JAX-RPC - currently what most vendors have is interoperability between implementations because of things like SOAPBuilders and WS-I. When JAX-RPC becomes part of J2EE 1.4 roughly in June and vendors start putting out implementations on it you should get closer to portability.
In the meantime, the easiest way to get portability is to use the same SOAP server on both servers - Apache SOAP is a good example.
Hope this helps.

Trying to install Bea WebLogic Commerce Server 3.2
Hi there!
This is my environment:
Red Hat Linux 6.2 Kernel 2.2.14;
Bea WebLogic Server 5.1 service pack 9 (couldn't find service pack 6);
Java 1.3.1 (only for the Commerce Server);
Java 1.2.2 (only for Bea WebLogic Server);
512 Mb RAM
I followed instructions to install an evaluation copy of the Commerce Server 3.2
and this is my log of activities:
1. Registered software in order to get my evaluation license;
2. Downloaded the 1.3.1 version of java for Linux (they say: "The Solaris and
Linux versions of J2SE 1.3 ship with both VM implementations" (regarding client
& server implementations) source: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/docs/guide/performance/hotspot.html);
3. Installed Java 1.3.1 as documentation says;
4. Installed WLCS 3.2 following step by step the guide regarding the "Does not
have a windowing environment" section (i found an error because my bundled version
does not have the UninstallerData/Uninstaller_Haystack file);
5. Ran the StartCommerce.sh procedure to start the server;
6. Got this error: (please see below)
What's wrong?

say this because I do not see the sp6 message at the top of your log and I saw
this message in your log:

Creating new domain using weblogic app server V 7.0
Hi,
I've installed Weblogic Server V7 (beta) and facing a problem. Here is it:
What I want to do
=================
I want to create a new domain parallel to mydomain in weblogic application server
V 7.0 beta.
What are the steps taken
========================
(1) Started "myserver". (2)Opened browser and go to localhost:7001/console. (3)
logged in into the server using default username and password "installadministrator".
(4) Right click on mydomain in the left pane and click on "Create or edit other
domains". (5) entered new domain name and new console contex path, accept other
default values. (6) Apply it.
Problem
=======
(1) The new domain is not being shown in the left pane. (2) If I restart myserver,
it is not started and giving error :
<Mar 21, 2002 5:35:12 PM IST> <Emergency> <WebLogicServer> <000349> <Not all the
ListenPort(s) started properly.>
<Mar 21, 2002 5:35:12 PM IST> <Emergency> <WebLogicServer> <000342> <Unable to
initialize the server: Fatal initialization exception>
The WebLogic Server did not start up properly. Reason: Fatal initialization exception
(3) No directory structure is being created parallel to myserver, and moreover
it is rewriting bea\user_domains\mydomain\config.xml file.
Please help.
Thanks and regards,

Using Weblogic as a front end web server
Hi all, recently there has been a push for us to investigate moving our Iplanet
web servers to Weblogic. So our architecture would be WLS web instances on the
front and passing back to WLS app servers on the back end. We would need to run
SSL and none SSL and handle certificates and multiple applications on each web
server as well as serve up static content. Has anybody had any experience with
going to this set up, and if so would you recomend it ? It looks way harder then
setting up a Apache or Iplanet web server."Mark Griffith" <[email protected]> wrote:
You should check out 8.1, SSL configuration is simpler there.
I would say in general that the main weakness of WLS as a web server
is on
the administration side of things.

How to use RDBMS Realm in Weblogic Commerce Server?
Hi All,
Same as the subject.
Thx
RayYou should read the security information in the Servlet 2.2 specification
that WL 5.1 implements:
http://java.sun.com/products/servlet/download.html
Chapter 11 deals with declarative and programmatic security, and includes a
section on roles:
11.4 Roles
A role is an abstract logical grouping of users that is defined by the
Application Developer or
Assembler. When the application is deployed, these roles are mapped by a
Deployer to security
identities, such as principals or groups, in the runtime environment.
A servlet container enforces declarative or programmatic security for the
principal associated with
an incoming request based on the security attributes of that calling
principal. For example,
1. When a deployer has mapped a security role to a user group in the
operational environment. The
user group to which the calling principal belongs is retrieved from its
security attributes. If the
principal's user group matches the user group in the operational environment
that the security
role has been mapped to, the principal is in the security role.
2. When a deployer has mapped a security role to a principal name in a
security policy domain, the
principal name of the calling principal is retrieved from its security
attributes. If the principal is
the same as the principal to which the security role was mapped, the calling
principal is in the
security role.

Hello Gurus,
I am new to Weblogic server and I am trying to investigate how to make
use of security roles in weblogic server (5.1.0). Can anyone point me
to some documentation. Specifically, I am looking for instance level,
and method level security and how to use it.
Thanks for taking your time to read this e-mail.
Thank You all in advance,

In addition to what Nishant said, the PDB databases are not opened by default. You must open them manually or create a trigger to do it.
