Using WebLogic in HPUX-Cluster with MC Service Guard

Hi
I have the following problem:
Bea WLS is installed on a shared device with MC Service Guard
Integration. This Package has a distinct IP Address to which the License
File is pointing.
This IP Address belongs also to the maschine the shared device is
attached to.
When I start WebLogic it always uses the IP-Address belonging to the
maschine the shared device is mounted on rather than the one the package
has. This behavior leads to a license exception.
Is there a solution for using MC ServiceGuard IPs or do I have to
convert my license ?

We're running BEA Weblogic in a HP-UX cluster over here, and it works without any
problems.

Hi,
Did you find if it is possible to run BEA WLS on a UNIX cluster?
Thanks,

I need to replace my IPhone. My manager has an IPhone bought in the US that she could send me but will that work in Ireland using an Irish sim card from an Irish phone provider?

It would only work if it has been factory unlocked. Most of the phones in the US, unless purchased unlocked from the Apple store are locked to carriers in the US. Also, there are two different phones in the US, the GSM and the CDMA. You would need to know more about the phone before the question could be definitively answered.

That's because it's carrier locked. Only the carrier it's locked to can authorize unlocking it. Contact them.

We are using Weblogic 8.1.5 with Tangosol 3.3.1 on Linux servers.

    Many Thanks,

    Hi, Gene
Thank you for the response. I will send you our full log files and thread dumps.
I just want to give you more details about our cases :
    1. This only happened without starting cache servers (com.tangosol.net.DefaultCacheServer).
    2. And our application which are running on weblogic cluster will just call "CacheFactory.getCache("XXX")", and running as the Tangosol DataClient.
    3. All weblogic member servers will be up running successfully if our cache servers are up running.
Also I tried to test another case :
Suppose all weblogic instances and cache server instances are up running. Now I trying to restart (kill weblogic instance process and restart) one of the weblogic member, It will up running successfully only if add some sleep times after killing weblogic processes and restarting it. Looks like tangosol cluster need certain time to aware the member has left cluster, then the restart process will be successful.
    Questions :
    1. Should we start our weblogic cluster only after cache server cluster is up running ?
    2. How do we decide how many time we should wait before start new process to join the cache cluster ?
Could you please help to explain this one for me and let us if there anyway we can do to avoid the problem.
    Many Thanks !!!

  • Listener configuration with service guard

    Hello
We plan to work here with HP service guard on a cluster (oracle version 7.3 and hp UX 11). We want to distribute databases accross the nodes of the cluster and let them protected by service guard.
    Here's my main question.
I have a cluster with two nodes (A and B) and service guard but without OPS. Instance InstA is running on A protected by service guard. Instance InstB is running on B protected by service guard. I I use TNSNAMES.ora with the adresses of the packages guarding my instances.
If, after a problem, service guard switches for example instA from A to B, what will happen with the listener ?
Will we have now two listeners running on node B ?
    Or
will we have just one listener ?
In this later case, the listener running on B should be ready to accept connexions to instB but also to instA when instA is moved to B.
    Any hint is welcome.

If anyone else comes across this problem and they are trying to get SSL connections to the oracle database working but it is failing with ‘cannot hand off connection’, then in my experience the problem is most likely to be because of a firewall configuration.
It turns out that in a non-SSL environment, Oracle can seamlessly hand off the connection to another port without dropping the connection on it’s own side, and therefore the ports open on the the firewall can remain constrained to the initial connection port (usually 1521). However, in an SSL environment Oracle needs to hand off the connection to a different port number, and because of the SSL handshake required, that port not only needs to be open on the firewall, Oracle needs to be told to use that port number explicitly which is done using the DISPATCHERS setting.
For example, for one dispatcher, that could be run on 24841 while the listener is run on 2484. In this case, set up the firewall with ports 2484 and 24841 open. Set up the listener for TCPS on port 2484. Then to set up the dispatcher, connect as sys (sysdba) to oracle and run
    alter system set dispatchers=‘(ADDRESS=(PROTOCOL=TCPS)(HOST=myhost.domain.tld)(PORT=24841))(INDEX=1)’ scope=both;
The index=1 makes sure that you add this dispatcher in a new slot without clobbering your existing TCP listener (which will be in index=0). You will obviously
Good luck. TCPS is a pain in the posterior to get working.

  • Cluster and Content services

    Hi,
In our environment, we have two nodes in a cluster with Content services runnin on both the cluster nodes.
One of the process, which is configured to have watched folder end point. This process reads the document from watched folder and stores the same
in specified content space structure.  When it is stored in content space we store the node id of the same for future reference.
Now we have run into a situation where content from watched folder is read by Cluster Node A and stored it in Content Space under content services
running on Cluster Node A. Now say after 5 mins we need to retrieve the same content but this time the process to read the content from content space runs on Node B.
Content is read using retrieveContent service by passing node id which we have stored earlier but some reason it is not able to find the content.
Does Livecycle automatically synchronises the cluster nodes for content and how often does it happen?
Any suggestion on how to get around this issue.
    Regards,
    Vik

For content services in cluster, content is stored at a shared location which can be accessed by each node. Only indexes for this content is synchronized across cluster nodes. Please make sure that content storage root directory is a shared and accessible location for all nodes in the cluster.
Could you please perform a quick test?
    1. Go to http://node1:port/contentspace and add a content here.
    2. Now go to http://node2:port/contentspace and verify that you can see the content added.
    Thanks,
    Pankaj Parashar

    Hi SajeevPynadath
    1
First start the server process  with "cache-server.cmd"
    2
After that you can start another server or client process,  the "coherence.cmd" script is to start a client process to join the cluster .
    3
Then now you have 2 processes , and your cluster.xml will look like this :
    <socket-address id="serverprocess">
         <address>171.193.103.25</address>
         <port>8088</port>
        </socket-address>
    <socket-address id="clienprocess">
         <address>171.193.103.25</address>
         <port>8089</port>
        </socket-address>
    4
Before start each process remember put in java command line :
    for server
    -Dtangosol.coherence.localhost=171.193.103.25 -Dtangosol.coherence.localport=8088
    for client
    -Dtangosol.coherence.localhost=171.193.103.25 -Dtangosol.coherence.localport=8089
    regards,
    Leo_TA

  • Can I create different Coherence nodes in the same cluster with defferent?

Can I create different Coherence nodes in the same cluster with defferent cache-config.xml file ?
Can a cache be distributed in these deffirent nodes?

Yes. You can create different Coherence nodes in the same cluster with defferent cache-config.xml files as long as you use the same tangosol-coherence.xml file and the same tangosol-coherence-override.xml file. But you cannot store the cache data in the different nodes (started with different cache-config file). In other word, a node only create caches in their own's modes which are started with the same cache-config.xml file.
    See the following demo:
I start a cache server using the cache config file examples-cache-server.xml. Then I start a storage-disabled cache console (cache client) using the cache config file coherence-cache-config.xml. Both of them using the same tangosol-coherence.xml file and the same tangosol-coherence-override.xml file.
The cache server uses a cache service PartitionedPofCache. But the client side is using the Distributedcache service. The cluster address is same 224.3.5.2.
The cluster name is also samme. They know each other.

  • Using tuxedo client 8.1 with tuxedo server 6.4

    Hi,
I am using Weblogic server 7 sp2 with Tuxedo 8.1 on my Windows XP machine, I have configured weblogic (config.xml) to use WTC to connect to tuxedo 6.4 on windows 2000 machine which in turn connects to tuxedo 6.4 server. When I try to do a tpcall I get an error on weblogic server log 'TPENOENT(6):0:0:TPED_MINVAL(0):QMNONE(0):0:Could not find service'.
My question is I haven't made any configuration changes on the tuxedo server end like ubb.config or dm.config files. We are currently in the process of upgrading to weblogic 7 or 8. At the moment we are using JOLT to connect to the existing tux services on the dynix box.
I want to know if I can configur WTC on weblogic 7 using tuxedo 8.1 API to connect to tuxedo 6.4. What all changes do I need to make on both WLS and Tuxedo end.
I have read some documentation which state ways where old tuxedo client versions 7.1 and earlier can access tuxedo server 8 by configuring WSH (CLOPT -t) option in ubb.config file.
    Can someone please help.
    Thanks,
    Smita

    Hello Smita,
I don't think WTC is supported with Tuxedo 6.4. I think (for a number of reasons) that you really should consider an upgrade to 6.5 or newer version of Tuxedo.

  • HP service guard and RAC or dataguard

HP service guard must use with RAC on HP unix server?
In dataguard how can we use the hp service guard?
    will you pls. clarify.

HP Service guard is a clustering or High availability solution that protects you against hardware failure. Oracle Parallel server, the precursor to RAC, when implemented on HPUX platform required HP Service guard. With RAC, oracle bundles in its own clusterware and service guard is no longer a mandatory prerequisite. If Service Guard is installed oracle clusterware will delegate some of the cluster responsibilities to service guard.
Dataguard on the other hand is a Disaster recovery solution that protects you against site disaster or whole data center outage. With that said it is not uncommon to see dataguard being setup between two servers within same datacenter to protect against hardware failure or for reporting purposes.
How would you use dataguard with service guard? On the production site, you can use service guard for fail over the database between two nodes in case there is a hard ware failure. You can do the same for the DR site also.

  • MC Service Guard + Data Guard + Data Broker?

    Hi guys,
A clustered 2 nodes on HP-UX with MC service guard (active/standby), have a running oracle 10g db in one of the nodes. I am planning to implement data guard on the 2 node. But MC service guard is responsible for failover of the nodes, which I think is the same role of data broker. Would this cause a conflict between the MC service guard and data broker failover role? Should I not implement data broker? Could anyone give me some ideas? Thanks in advance.

YES!! you can install 10g grid control under HP MC/Service guard. I have done it with some undocumented tweaking. As this is an undocumented feature, use it at your own risk.
    Problem :
Installer picks up the hostname and the Management service is installed on the host instead of the package. When the package flips over to the other host the management service breaks.
    Solution :
Copy the CD/DVD to the host or better still download the media from edelivery.oracle.com to your host. (I personally do not mount CD/DVD on HP servers because of the crazy pfs mounting. It tends to hang the server if you don’t do it right). You will have to install from the copied media since you will be modifying one of the supplied ini files.
Edit oraparam.ini under Disk1/install in the copied installation media. Change SHOW_HOSTNAME=NEVER_SHOW to SHOW_HOSTNAME=ALWAYS_SHOW and save the file
Start the installer. During the installation there will be a screen to enter the hostname. Change the hostname to the package name. (The labels in the hostname screen did not display properly. I use Exceed. If you see a screen with your hostname in a text box, just change it to the package name and continue).
Towards the end of the installation, opmn configuration will fail. When it does open $ORACLE_HOME/webcache/webcache.xml and find the line “HOSTNAME=package_name” and change it to “HOSTNAME=hostname”. Retry the configuration step after making the change and your install should proceed and complete successfully.
Web cache does not like packages. You should have multiple copies of webcache.xml – one for each host in the package (webcache.host.xml) – with the corresponding hostname in each file. As part of the package startup webcache.host.xml should be copied as webcache.xml before "opmnctl startall".
Given Oracle’s direction and attitude, these solutions will be short lived. They want you to use RAC and Application Server HA instead of Service Guard.

  • Web services with Jdeveloper using weblogic as server

    Hi,
I try to test creating PL/SQL web services by using a connection hosted by weblogic server instead of OC4J. The problem is what I try to publish a package of the database in the second stage when it asks for the connection to use, in the list I don't found the connection I create to weblogic . It presents as choice only connections used the server OC4J.
I do not Know if it is possible to publish a package as web service by using weblogic server connection, and how to do it.
can anyone help me please .
    Nawal

Web services can only be published to BEA if you install Apache SOAP on BEA and use the Apache SOAP option of JDeveloper. The J2EE Web Services implementation framework is specific to Oracle9iAS.
The PL/SQL Web Services server implementation is based on the J2EE Web Services option and as a result is not really portable to BEA.
To publish a PL/SQL Web service on BEA with JDeveloper you would have to write the Java wrapper code to invoke the stored procedure using standard JDBC and then publish that Java class as a Web service using Apache SOAP. Then if you had Apache SOAP installed on BEA you would be set.
Portability of Web services implementations is a big feature coming with JAX-RPC - currently what most vendors have is interoperability between implementations because of things like SOAPBuilders and WS-I. When JAX-RPC becomes part of J2EE 1.4 roughly in June and vendors start putting out implementations on it you should get closer to portability.
In the meantime, the easiest way to get portability is to use the same SOAP server on both servers - Apache SOAP is a good example.
    Hope this helps.

  • How to use call back and user session id based conversation with web service in weblogic 6.1 sp2 ?????????

    Hi, every one:
Here's my question of my day - >>>
I am using weblogic 6.1 SP2 right now - running on Unix and Win 2K, and
I got a web service up and running called Price Update web service through
which user can pick up a price and push a deal to another web service
called: deal service, the deal service will take the user deal and book the
deal ( sending a JMS message to a Queue, a MD will pick up and do the work,
then send the confirmation to another JMS Queue ), then the confirmation
will be picked up and sent to another web service , called: User Deal
    Confirmation Service, here's the question:
    1. Since the client application is only allowed to see its own confirmed
deals, how I can make the confirmed deal encrypted based on a server
generated key or the session id that client application provides
    2. Now, I have 3 webservices: update, deal and confirm, each of them has a
client.jar file available - from the client application point of view, do I
need all these 3 client.jar, or I just need one of them ?????
    3. How can I use web service call back in wls 6.1 sp2 ?????? - in the 7.0
beta, you can do this easily in the workshop, in the second question above,
I think I need some how relate the confirmation to the client conversation
    id ??
thanks a lot for the input, have a nice day.
    regards,
    mark.

    Any comments ?

  • Using weblogic  with HP m/c service guard

    Hi,
We have installed weblogic 5.1 using the IP address of the service guard package which is different from either of the HP V class machines which our package runs on.When we start weblogic we get a license problem as weblogic is picking up the IP address of the current node which hosts the package. We need it to pick up the service guard IP address.Any suggestions ?
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
This is a problem I also ran into. The only solution I recieved from Bea
Support up to now, is that I would have to convert the license into a
license containing the IP-Adresses of the clustred maschines. This again
opens a lot of new questions about licensing Bea WLS.
This is not a very desirable solution.
    Yours,
