Using Webutil(CLIENT_GET_FILE_NAME) without result

Hi all,
I used Webutil(CLIENT_GET_FILE_NAME function) in developement platform(IDS) on WINDOWS and it worked fine.Now i'm migatring on IAS/LINUX, the same feature don't produce any result and any error occurs.Here's messages i receive in Jinitiator consol when a load and exit the form module:

thanks for getting back.
It is actually a conversion from forms6. The call is in a library procedure rather than in the form.
The original call is:
v_filename := client_get_file_name(v_photodir, NULL, v_ff, NULL, OPEN_FILE, TRUE);
I have also tried: v_filename := client_GET_FILE_NAME(File_Filter=> v_ff);
The webutil log stops at the point of open file and the java exception appears on the console.

In our v6 forms we were able to use MS Word's spell check, how can I do this with a 10g form without using webutil?

Jim, thanks for the update. Some of the recent version of Jinitiator have included bug fixes relating to proxies. (though I suppose Support has gone through this with you).
I don't want to confuse the issue here but while Oracle Forms 10g is only certified on certain JVMs etc, we did run some webutil specific certification tests on Sun JDK 1.4.2 and that was ok (but again please cross reference this the Forms client certification since this testing was just and aside for the webutil QA).
If you need this functionality I think it would be worth seeing if a bug can be identified in Jinit and seeing if we can fix that -you may have worked with Support on this already...but as I said, check with the latest Jinit anyway to make sure. (1.3.1.17 or 18 I think off the top of my head)

Without using webutil how to read an image from client or own system

I am trying to read image from my own system.
(if I click on button (browse) then it should open an dialog box then i can select image from it. then I press another button(save) it should be store in the database.)
So, i want read image without using webutil package how to do it.
If i want read image from client system please tell me how to do it.
I am getting with webutil package but there is any other chance to get the image.

Please keep in mind that Forms 10g is a release not a version. Also, since you are running on Windows 7 64 bit - you should be using Forms 10g Release 2 (version 10.1.2.0.2) and a patchset to upgrade this to version 10.1.2.3.0.
Now, to answer your question - I happen to agree with MarkReichman, WebUtil would be my preferred method, but since you don't want to use WebUtil then the only other way would be to use a 3rd party Java Bean. I prefer WebUtil because it is supported by Oracle and I can contact them with any issues.

Error in loading a jpeg file using webutil

I´m using webutil with forms9i and got errors when loadin g jpeg files. I selected some files and worked ok. Some files (ones with blank characters inside their names) blow up the form.
The resultant error message is:
FRM-92102:a network error has occurred. The Forms Client has attempted to reestablish its connection to the server1 time(s) without success. Please check the network connection and try again later.

It would help if you mentioned which bit of file transfer you are doing there are about 8 different options..
For instance I tried Clint_to_AS with a file name containing a space and all was OK.

Open bat file on client machine using webutil

I'm on devsuite 10g.
I want to run a bat file on client machine using client_host function of webutil.
I have tried first to execute the bat file with mouse double-click in order to check if it is ok, and it works.
Now I want to execute this file from my form using webutil.
Here is my code:

FabrizioThis seems like a directory or OS level permission issue on the batch file, What is the error you got when you tried drag and drop the batch file in an DOS window???
I think you need to upload the image to a site and use the markup for the image, include the full URL of the uploaded file between ! (exclamation marks) something like ! http://../post.gif ! without the spaces.

How to Print a PDF file and Close the ACrobat Reader opened using WEBUTIL

I have used WEBUTIL successfully and printed files using webutil_host.nonblocking builtin. What happens is that after printing the file the Acrobat reader stays on the desktop of the client PC. How to close that file opened programmatically. I am unable to close it using any any commands or using following builtins from WEBUTIL.

I think if you use the start-command, the execution is asynchronously and you won't get the correct process-id. Try to execute Acorbat directly without the cmd /c start in front of it.

Webutil client_get_file_name ignoring directory parameter

I am trying to use the Webutility client_get_file_name and evrything is working correctly except the directory setting. I would expect the look in directory would be c:\temp in the following code when the dialog comes up;
v_filename := client_get_file_name('C:\temp',nul,null,'Select SOFSRP file for upload',OPEN_FILE,TRUE);
But to my surprise the look in directory is "c:\my documents". No matter what I put in I get the same starting directory. I have verified the directories exist and I have admin rights on this client so permissions should not be an issue. I have even tried using other similar webutil functions like file_open_dialog or file_selection_dialog and they all behave the same. I really need to have the open dialog start in a defined directory passed to the utility. Thanks in advance.
P.S. I am using forms 10.1.2.0.2 with matching webutil version 10.1.2.0.

10.1.2.3 is a patch which is installed on top of 10.1.2.0. Patch sets are only available for customers with current Support Contracts and access to My Oracle Support (support.oracle.com). Be sure to become familiar with the usage license:

the Form has instantiated the WebUtil PJCs. This means that you cannot call WebUtil
functions before the Forms UI is rendered. This would include triggers such as PREFORM,
WHEN-NEW-FORM-INSTANCE and WHEN-NEW-BLOCK-INSTANCE for
the first block in the Form.
Likewise you cannot call functions after the UI has been destroyed for instance in POSTFORM.
If you do need to use WebUtil at Forms startup, it is recommended that you create a timer
with a short duration (say 1ms) in your When-New-Form-Instance trigger, then make the
WebUtil call in a When-Timer-Expired trigger.

Use of Services without SR and ESR

Hello, for this one I need to explain something:
I'm writing my diploma about ESOA. Because of this I allready have created a application which uses Enterprise Services. But because I used the ESWorkplace I've had some restrictions.
- If I used the SR of the ESWorkplace together with a in my CE generated Destination I could not use the Services because the SR gave me the SAP internal URL to the service(iwdf...) which I could not reach. I solved this problem the following way:
- Get the Service-WSDL-Url from the ESWorkplace
- Create a WSDL Destination in the CE with the WSDL-URL from above and the System-Data of HU2
- Use this Destination in WD Java for an adaptive Web Service Model and again the WSDL-URL
With these steps I was able to use the Services. But I had to create a destination for every single Webservice. It's ok, it worked and this was everything I wanted. But as a result of this I haven't used the ESR and the SR at all. Because all i needed was the WSDL-Url of the service and the system data of the corresponding System.
Now the question comes up: In case of a ERP System with installed Enhancement Packs without an SR or ESR: Would I be able to use the Services in the same way? I mean: in /wsadmin on HU2 I'm able to get the wsdl-Url. But could this information also be found there without a SR or ESR?
I have tried to use the services of a CRM 2007 System (which has preinstalled services as CustomerQuoteByID) we physically have here in our company. But I simply don't get the needed WSDL-URL. In fact the Service can't be found in /wsadmin. Is this because of the missing SR and ESR? Or am I doing something wrong?
I really don't get the neccessarity of the SR and ESR at all. Ok, I know what I can do with them. Modelling Services with the ESR or using them if I don't have a supplier. And Browsing available Services in the SR. But if a customer has no CE or PI and because of this no SR and ESR: Would there be a way for using his services. Don't get me wrong: I know how to use bapis and rfcs, and I also know the the ES only use the BAPIs with an additional Interface with some extra functionality like failure and exception handling. But how to use these ES without the ESR and SR?

NicolaYes, you make up your own Locales with anything you want in place of the language, country, and variant. As long as you're not setting the Locale, it works great!
ResourceBundle laf = new ResourceBundle.getBundle("skins.properties", new Locale("flavor", "chocolate",""));will get all resources in skins.properties and over-riding entries from skins_flavor_chocolate.properties".

Changing Excel decimalseperator using webutil

Hi all
I am migrating a few forms from 6i to 11g, one of this forms in 6i sends data (number data type) to excel cells, excel does some calculations and sends back the result.
In 11g this is becoming a nightmare, in Forms we are using SPANISH NLS_LANG and windows reginal setting to Spain so the decimal separator is comma however when we run the form in 11g I am always getting a number format error, I observed this error in jvm console:
java.lang.NumberFormatException: For input string: "1916,2232"
at sun.misc.FloatingDecimal.readJavaFormatString(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.Double.valueOf(Unknown Source)
at java.lang.Double.<init>(Unknown Source)
looks like JVM uses dot as decimal seperator and not a comma, I am not sure.
So if I cannot change JVM decimal seperator I think my best bet is change excel decimal seperator. Is this possible using webutil?

5. Have you tested this with a more common character set? For example: AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8ISO8859P1 Yes, I have tested
The problem seems to me is following:
Forms (Spanish, comma decimal seperator) -> Webutil -> Excel (Spanish, comma decimal seperator) ERROR, I get the jaa number format error
If I try this:
Forms (AMERICAN, dot decimal seperator) -> Webutil -> Excel (Spanish, comma decimal seperator) ERROR when running excel calculation because excel is expecting comma decimal seperator
So far I only know how to change decimal seperator in Forms using NLS_NUMERIC_CHARACTER or NLS_LANG, I dont have a clue how can I force Webutil Or Jacob to use comma as decimal seperator, I dont know how to force comma as decimal seperator in excel and that is my question here unless anyone know how I can change decimal seperator in Webutil or Jacob?

Multipage word document cannot be printed using webutil

We have the following problem. We are using Oracle Webforms 11g (11.1.1.4). On the server a Word 2010 docx document has been created and needs to be printed locally. We use webutil for this with the following code:

When the document to be printed consists of only one page the document is printed. When there is more than one page (hard/soft page end) the resulting document is empty. We also tried Word 2003, RTF format but nothing worked.

WUC-20 errors openning form using webutil

We have configured several forms to use Webutil. We have moved a Windows 9iAS deployment to Linux. When running under linux we get WUC-20 errors for files jacob.dll, d2kwutil.dll and JNIsharedstubs.dll. I wondered if the file sizes were slightly changed by moving them to linux. Checking the size with 'ls -l' verifies that they are the same as in the webutil.cfg file.
Any suggestions to resolve this?

I believe I have delt with the CRLF characters and have done so again and rechecked.
I have run the application on a pc without a Jinitiator install and have found the three dlls do not appear to be downloading properly so that I have the three files showing as 1KB in C:\program files\oracle\jinitiator 1.3.1.9\bin.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

Open Activity Monitor in the Utilities folder. Select All Processes from the Processes dropdown menu. Click twice on the CPU% column header to display in descending order. If you find a process using a large amount of CPU time, then select the process and click on the Quit icon in the toolbar. Click on the Force Quit button to kill the process. See if that helps. Be sure to note the name of the runaway process so you can track down the cause of the problem.
If the above doesn't help then create a new user account. Log into the new account. Does this fix the problem?

WUT-113 Too many rows when using Webutil to upload a doc or pdf

Hi All,
I am using Webutil to upload and view files and am receiving the error msg 'WUT-113 Too many rows matched the supplied where clause'
The process works fine for uploading photos but not when I try and upload documents and pdf files.
I am on v 10.1.2.0.2 and using XP.
The code example (for documents) is outlined below but think that the issue must be to do with some sort of incorrect Webutil configuration
on my machine.

All I'm trying to do is to click on the Browse Document button in a form to upload
a document (in this example) from my machine and save it to the db table called lobs_table
using the webutil_file_transfer.Client_To_DB_With_Progress program.
When I first access the form the field :blob_id is populated (by a When-create-Record trigger)
with a value made up of sysdate in NUMBER format as DDMMHHMISS e.g. 0106101025
When I press 'Browse Document' - a button in the form) and the dialog box is opened and
I select a document and click ok then I see the error message 'WUT-113 Too many rows matched the supplied where clause' and yet the where clause element of the call to webutil_file_transfer.Client_To_DB_With_Progress program
should be the :blob_id value ('blob_id = '||:blob_id) i.e. should be a single value populated in the field when I first access the form - so why am I seeing the when too many rows error?
I may be missing something obvious as I've only just started using Webutil.
