Using Windows vista and Firefox 4 hangs almost every time
I have just installed Firefox 4 and now almost every time I open Firefox it hangs. I have checked all the suggested solutions but nothing has had any effect.
Hi,
Try '''disabling graphics hardware acceleration'''. Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches.
You might need to '''restart Firefox''' in order for this to take effect, so '''save all work first'''.
Then perform these steps:
*Click the orange Firefox button at the top left, then select the "Options" button, or, if there is no Firefox button at the top, go to Tools > Options.
*In the Firefox options window click the ''Advanced'' tab, then select "General".
*In the settings list, you should find the ''Use hardware acceleration when available'' checkbox. Uncheck this checkbox.
*Now, restart Firefox and see if the problems persist.
Additionally, please '''check for updates for your graphics driver''' by following the steps mentioned in the following Knowledge base articles:
* '''[[Troubleshoot extensions, themes and hardware acceleration issues to solve common Firefox problems]]'''
* '''[[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]'''
Also try to clear the firefox cache etc.
Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
To clear cache and cookies do the following:
#Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
#Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
#Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
#From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
#Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
Further information can be found in the '''[[Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox]]''' article.

Using windows vista and all the graphics i create the colours look blurry?
Hi everyone,
I have just started using windows vista and i have noticed
that when i create graphics using fireworks 8 that when i view them
either on dreamweaver 8 or just using the windows viewer that the
graphics and colours in the graphics look very blurry?? Does anyone
know why this should be? As i was creating graphics successfully
before with fireworks 8 when i was using windows xp and had none of
these problems at all.
Any advice would be most welcome.
Many thanks,
Gordon.Fireworks is not compatible with Aero. So, whenever you start
Fireworks,
Vista will warn you that Areo will not work and to use
Fireworks you must
disable it. Once you close Fireworks, Vista will
automatically re-enable
Aero. Obviously not a huge issue, but it is kind of annoying
for the screen
to flicker and lose all your pretty eye candy every time
Fireworks starts.

im using window vista and i've downloaded the new update but cant find it anywhere on my laptop?
I have already tried removing firefox from my firewall. Even when I do that, my firewall doesn't detect firefox and prompt me to add it. And when I manually add it, it still doesn't work anyways. I've already tried the link as well, but it has been unhelpful. :/
I'm not sure if it matters, but a few weeks before this, I did download Microsoft Security Essentials. -
I use Windows Vista and Microsoft Outlook. After migrating to iCloud, the calendar of iCloud tranferred only part of my past Calendar items to the folder iCloud Calendar in my Outlook. How can I transfer all the entries? In iCloud's site all are there.
If the calendar is on iCoud.com, all you would need to do to get it on your phone is go to Settings>iCloud on your phone, sign into your iCoud account and turn Calendars on. The iCloud calendars will then download to your phone.

My firefox updated this morning. Since the update I can no longer post to facebook. Any thoughts? Other browsers work. I am using Windows 7 and Firefox 10.0.1. All was working fine yesterday.
BTW, I can read everything just fine, but when enter information to post and press the post button, nothing happens. I have another computer running Win XP and firefox 8.x and all is fine.

Using Windows XP and Firefox 3.6.15 web pages print with some of the script as unintelligible weird looking script or maybe some kind of computer script. This problem also occurs with the web page on which this question is submitted. This doe not occur using IE 8.0 with the same printer.
These have nothing to do with Firefox.
C:\ProgramData\FLEXnet\Connect
\11\ISUSPM.exe
and
C:\Users\Vinegarhill-User Acc\Desktop\Malware Removal Programs\eXplorer.exe
This one - C:\Users\Vinegarhill-User Acc\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles\ak4dv58c.default\extensions\ \components\afom.exe - is probably the '''AFOM - Memory Recovery & Retention For Firefox Only''' extension.
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/11922/
My advice is to uninstall that extension. IMO, you have too many extensions installed, and are asking for problems with Firefox. I am not against using a lot of extensions in Firefox ''(I typically have 45 to 50 extensions installed, but the mix of extensions you have scares me as potentially problematic.)'' -
Firefox hangs nearly every time I am working in Blackboard.
I teach on line using Blackboard. Since installing Wndows 7 Firefox hangs nearly every time I am working in Blackboard...and this is every day. Firefox doesn't hang on my home desktop using Vista 64. I have all the latest Java updates and have continually queried Blackboard for a solution with no result.
Could you describe the new window in more detail? For example, is it an ad for something, or a login page, etc.
Since this occurs so regularly, I think it would make sense to try browsing for an hour in Firefox's Safe Mode to see whether that makes any difference. This will temporarily disable your extensions, which are the type of add-on most likely to cause mischief.
You can restart Firefox in Safe Mode using
Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled ''(Flash and other plugins still work)''
In the dialog, click "Start in Safe Mode" (''not'' Reset)

I have downloaded the new iTunes 10.7 on my computer with windows vista on it. Now every time I try to run a video it shuts off iTunes. Is anyone else having this problem? I have uninstalled and reinstalled the program twice. Is there a fix? Is it possible I am missing part of the program?
I'd start with the following user tip:
iTunes for Windows 10.7.0.21: "iTunes has stopped working" error messages when playing videos, video podcasts, movies and TV shows -
I recently downloaded Firefox 5 and noticed that all my keyboard shortcuts default to using "Alt" key instead of the "Ctrl" key (so, for example, opening a new tab is Alt + T instead of Ctrl + T).
I noticed that this is even true for copying and pasting within Firefox (Alt + C and Alt + P are the only commands that work).
Any idea why this is happening? I am running Windows 7 and Firefox 5.0.1.Thanks, eveostay! That worked. (And for the record, what a crazy user agent string...)

Using Windows Vista and IE7 with Forms based applications
A user has Vista & iexplorer 7 installed on their machine and when they attempt to access the Professional Buyer responsibility (forms based) they receive an error message stating that 'Internet Explorer has stopped working'. When they attempt the same thing using a machine with Windows XP Pro and IE6 they do not have a problem. Could anyone tell me if they have experienced a similar issue and how do you work around it whilst still using Internet Explorer?? Also we are using

I have recently (6 months ago) purchased and use an HP Pavilion desktop with Windows 7. At times, when especially active (several windows open) and switching between windows or using links to connect with another web page, all the images on the home home page "disappear", that is to say there is space, but no image, as if the page did not load correctly. When this happens, pages other than the home page also do not display images.
Same pages display correctly in Explorer whenever this happens.Hi
Can you please try setting up full persmission in the security properties for everyone on the wsconfig folder C:\ColdFusion10\config\wsconfig and restart ColdFusion Server.

I have to open Task Manager & quit the Firefox process manually b4 it will stop. When I did it the last time b4 I just uninstalled my memory usage was up to like over 300,000 with only 1 tab open. Just downloaded another copy/version & will reinstall. Hopefully this will stop the problem. thought you would want to know this.
The proper way to close Firefox is through the File menu "Exit" or the equivalent with the Firefox button.
More detail in item '''#38 Firefox already running '''
of
[http://dmcritchie.mvps.org/firefox/firefox-problems.htm#fx4interface Fix Firefox 4.0 toolbar user interface, problems (Make Firefox 4.0 look like 3.6) (#fx4interface)]
Firefox already running, to properly shutdown Firefox when closing the last window use File → Exit/Quit (or Firefox button → Exit). Closing Firefox with the [X] in the upper right corner closes the window ("Ctrl+W") but that does not necessarily close Firefox if it has subtasks running. If you want to close and reopen Firefox use the "Restart" within Add-ons if you made a change requiring a restart, or install "[https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/restartless-restart/ Restartless Restart]" ("Ctrl+Alt+R") which will allow you to take Firefox down and restart without having to check the Windows Task Manager to see if Firefox first actually ended. Each time I go on any websites, there is always double stacked writing either on the left or right side of my screen. Also, lots of other items have been disabled because of firefox 7 (like Adobe reader etc) and because of those being disabled, i can not play games online anymore. I did not want firefox7 because i was quite happy with the older version, but I have no clue as to how to change it back and how to stop from getting alerts about newer versions of firefox every other day. It is rather annoying.
If you have Yosemite you need iphoto 9.6 from the App store - what is the exact error message you are getting?
Try dragging the iphoto Application to the trash from your applications folder (wait tot empty the trash) and then install iPhoto 9.6 from the App store

Google Chrome is a problem:
if you use Chrome's own PDF viewer, the results are unpredictable.
if you use the Adobe Reader plugin with Chrome, it may reject (block) it if it is not the latest version. Reader 11.0.08 is the latest version for Windows XP, but Chrome may insist on the current version 11.0.10.
My suggestion; use a different browser! -
When I than starting IE the connection will starting en is oké.
You should actually be using Flash 10.3 (11.2 is insecure).[[Flash 11.3 doesn't load video in Firefox#w_solution-2-downgrade-flash|Solution 2: Downgrade Flash]].
Also, is there a reason you are using Firefox ESR? It's mean for organizations, and doesn't include all the security and stability fixes that Firefox latest (15.0.1) has.

I have lost the "New Tab" plus sign on the Tab Bar on Windows XP
When I updated to Firefox 4.0.1 on my XP system, the "plus sign" mini tab that used to be appended to the last open tab suddenly disappeared. I can obviously use the New Tab option on the Menu Bar, but I prefer the convenience of the plus sign.
