Using Xbox 360 to play Ipod

When I hook up my Ipod to my xbox 360, only certain songs will play. I think it is because of the format(AAC) which doesn't seem to work on xbox 360. Is there any way to convert songs to MP3 or WMA on Itunes? Also, if you know any other ways to get all the songs to play on the xbox 360, could you please help me out.
Thanks

you cant. ipod touches do not support 'disk mode' like other ipods, so you wont be able to access your music files (you can access photos, because it is possible to save photos to your ipod using either the screenshot/save from safari options)
there is third party software available which will do this, try google (or whichever search engine you prefer). you could also try using the search box for these forums, other people may have suggested software for other people to use.

  • Getting DSL Modem, TimeCapsule, and XBox 360 to play nice

I just bought a 1TB Time Capsule and pretty much hooked it up without reading the manual by using what seemed like the defaults. Everything seems to be working fine...I've got internet access, my two MacBooks are backing up using Time Machine...my only issue is that XBox 360, which connects wirelessly, is offline, (i.e., it can't connect to XBox Live.)
I have AT&T DSL internet. I plugged my TC into the Westell DSL Modem and ran the Airport configuration software. Using the default or recommended options, My TC assumed the settings for the wireless server of my Westell Modem. (I selected the "Bridge" setting when I got to that part.) When I was told to turn off the other wireless device (My Westell modem's wireless), I just logged on to the modem and turned off the wireless.
Everything worked fine...until I went to get on to XBox Live. It fails the connection test on XBox. (Everything else still works great.)
What do I need to do to get the XBox back up and running? It appears that my Westell is the router, handing out IP addresses, and my TC is just a wireless bridge to my Westell. Why wouldn't it hand an address to the XBox just like is doing for my two MacBooks?
I still have my HP Color LaserJet hooked up via ethernet to the Westell.
Is there a better way to hook all this up?

Maybe I shouldn't have said I have the "default settings". At each step along the initial configuration path, I read the details for each option, and choose the path that would seem to work best in my environment.
In my initial post that indicated that I chose the "Bridge" route that you recommended, but my XBox 360 is not getting an IP address from my Westell DSL modem. Yet my 2 MacBooks, 1 MacBook Pro, 2 iPhones and 1 iPod touch all seem to get served IP addresses without a hitch.
There was a was an option about NAT & Something else after "Bridge" was selected. Is there something about that setting that would allow Mac stuff to access my network, but prevent a Microsoft-rigid device like an XBox 360 from gaining access?

  • Using Xbox 360 with iMac

    Hello,
I was hoping someone might be able to tell me if there is anyway possible to use my iMac as a screen for my Xbox 360, and if not, will there be a way to do that in the near future?
    Thank you
    SpiredArc

    hey,
i looked into this myself a while back. The elgato hybrid will enable you to play your xbox through the screen...however BEWARE... the quality of the picture is terrible. you will only be able to play your xbox on 50hz mode and even then the quality is worse than on a standard tele, let alone one with HD capabilities. i emailed elgato and asked why this was and they said:
"The EyeTV Hybrid has spotty PAL 60 support, so many X360 titles may have sync issues when played with the Hybrid. The EyeTV 250 plus has much better PAL 60 support, as it has slightly different hardware. None of our devices can capture and digitize the HD output from next-gen consoles. Consumer priced component and HDMI capture hardware hasn't really surfaced yet, so we can't make a device with those capabilities yet."
    I hope this helps.

  • Using Xbox 360 with MB Pro

I was wondering if it is possible to use the MacBook Pro display with my Xbox 360. I have tried hooking it up via the vga adapter, however this does not work. Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

You can connect your X360 by using the Elgato EyeTV. You will have to resort to using composite cables, however. No HD support for externally connected devices.

  • Using xbox 360 controller, is it possible?

Is there a class I need to get or is it not even possible to use the xbox 360 controller in java

I'm guessing it's possible, but you would need an adapter to plug it into your computer (or have a working Java JRE on your XBox) and likely require some JNI to communicate with the port to which you attach the controller. I've never tried it, but I'm just saying I believe it is possible.

  • Using XBOX 360 with FIOS - How do you get it to be on TV

Just got FIOS and we plugged in the XBOX into the cable box using component cables and do not know what buttons to push so that we can use the XBOX.  Tried pressing Input on the remote to no avail.  What do we do?
    Thanks

Can I hook up the XBOX to my VCR and then my VCR to the STB?  What are my options?  The TV that the XBOX is being used on is an old set with out component inputs.
By A/B box what do you mean?  Do I have to buy it or would Verizon give it to me?
You cannot connect anything through the Verizon STB/DVR.
How many inputs does your TV have? Surely it must have more than one input in the back?
If your TV only has one set of inputs, then you could buy an A/B box as mentioned above.  Verizon won't provide you one.  Component switches start at about $20, but if your TV doesn't have component, you'd need a switch like this one from Radio Shack.

  • Xbox 360 not recognizing playlists on ipod - naming ipod "audiobooks"

All of a sudden XBox 360 is recognizing my ipod as "audiobooks" (when connected directy thru USB). It used to say "Tom's ipod". The bigger issue is that I can no longer access my playlists in my ipod when playing it through the 360. I am using the Elite and a ipod photo. I am not sure what happened. Anyone have any ideas on wht I can do?
Some others on an Xbox support thread theorize that it might be the last itunes update.
    http://xbox360forum.com/forum/showthread.php?t=42460

I have the same problem. It happened not too long when I updated iTunes to version 7.3 I think. I now have version 7.5 and still not working. I thought it was my older Ipod, but my new 2007 Ipod Classic 80 GB does the same thing. Xbox 360 doesn't recognize the playlists on my new Ipod. This *****. Please Apple fix this immediately, I don't want to buy a Zune to hear music on my home theatre system. I use the xbox 360 as a media hub for video and audio. Many xbox 360 owners have ipods and use it for the same purpose.

  • IPod update causes iPods to be incompatible with Xbox 360's

    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=1033587&tstart=0
(I felt that this topic belonged more in the compatibility forums.)
Since the iTunes 7.3 iPod software update, the iPods updated are now incompatible with 360's.
They now show up in the 360 system menu as "Audiobooks", and are unable to play from the predesigned playlists.
This is fixed by reverting to iTunes 7.2 or earlier.
However, one should be able to use the current iTunes version 7.5, and one's iPod with the Xbox 360, who many iPod users use as their entire media hub for their home theater systems.

Look in the packaging and pieces of paper that came with the Xbox 360. Mine came with a piece of paper advertising the ability to connect and listen to your iPod, and at the bottom it had a disclaimer saying that it doesn't work with the iPhone or iPod touch.

  • Can anyone tell me how to port forward and setup an XBOX 360 using my Time Capsule??

    Xbox 360
When playing the game online, the minimum speed of your network should be 128kbps. The ideal network speed for playing the game online is 768kbps. If you are having a problems with lag check the following:
    Network Troubleshooting:
Disable any firewall or security features on your router.
Set port forwarding on your router to the IP address of your Xbox 360. This game uses port 3074 (UDP/TCP). Additionally Xbox LIVE requires ports 80, 53 TCP and 88, 53 UDP.
Place your Xbox 360 into the DMZ of your router.
Disconnect your router and try the game. If it works regularly at this point something about your router may not be completely compatible with the specific needs of this game. Check with your router manufacturer and Microsoft's Xbox Live Connection Issues page for additional steps that may need to be done to resolve the issue you are having. You can also verify that you have an Xbox Live compatible router.
If you are having issues connecting while multiple Xbox 360 consoles are connected on the same network, try forwarding port 3074 (UDP/TCP) for one Xbox 360 and setting the other as DMZ. There is a chance that this may not resolve you issue,  if it doesn’t then you may want to consider getting an additional public IP address by contacting your Internet Service Provider and assigning it to one of these two consoles.
NOTE: If setting port forwarding or DMZ helps your connection issue, you may want to assign your Xbox 360 a static IP address within your home network. This can help to ensure that the configurations you made do not need to be done again. You can visit PortForward's Static IP Guide for a detailed guide on how to do this.
NOTE: Many broadband internet modems are coming with routing capabilities built in. Please contact your internet service provider to determine if your internet modem has an integrated router. If it does, they should be able to assist you with the steps above for setting up your router.
Once you have verified that your network setup is not the cause of the issue, try the following:
Try connecting to a different server. Some servers may have other players connected to them that you do not have an optimal connection with. In most games this is accomplished by backing out to the main menu and then selecting multiplayer again. From there you can try connecting to another online game.
Run the Xbox Network Self Test to see how strong your NAT is currently set to. Once the test is completed you will be notified if there is an issue with your connection. If you select "More Info" you will be given information about your NAT type and some steps to resolve any issues with your connection.
Moderate and Strict NAT types may have issues connecting to online matches. You may get the error "Notice - The game session is no longer available." If you do then enabling UPnP, forwarding port 3074, or placing your Xbox in your router's DMZ may resolve this issue. Please consult your router documentation for instructions on how to do this.

Whoa....this just went way over my head.... I already have 6.1 installed for my Airport Utility.
Read again what I wrote.. 6.1 is the problem.. or part of it.
You need to install the earlier 5.6 version which I have given you explicit instructions to do.
I have done something now and can not connect the XBOX at all now....unless you can provide me step by step directions I may have to call Apple Support.
This will happen over and over.. just press reset and start again.. you need to learn how to do the setup and using 5.6 utility will help you.. as will using ethernet from the computer to the TC.. trying to fix things over wireless is like sitting on a tree branch you are sawing off. As soon as you update you will fall to the ground.
I am not that sure that Apple Support will have any idea.
Do a google search .. you will find most people struggle with this.. Microsoft made the xbox to use upnp with vista specs.. if you use a router without upnp, ie any apple router.. you will have issues.
Have a go at bypassing the problem.. I have no idea if this will work.. I do not use a TC as the main router because much of my network including xbox and ps3 is just a pain.. I use a modem router with upnp. And bridge the TC.. that is the setup I would recommend.
Try this.. once you have installed 5.6 utility.
Get the IP of the XBox and click enable default host.. and put the IP address in there.. this is called DMZ.. all unassigned packets are forwarded to this ip address.. it is like a port forwarding for all ports.
See if it helps.. If it does you will need to lock the xbox address so it doesn't change.. we can get to that.
Tell me what kind of broadband you have and what modem router first.. none of this will work if you have double NAT.
