Using XI as a FTP Server ?

Hi
I would like to use the XI for transferring files from 2 systems, both of them have a FTP server installed, they don't share the same file system with the XI, I would like to have the following scenario :
1. Application A create a data file.
2. Application A flag the XI that the file is waiting.
3. The XI get the file using FTP.
4. All the relevant mapping is done at the XI.
5. The XI put the file at Server B.
6. The XI flag Application B that the file is waiting.
7. Application B load the data file.
does the FTP Adapter have the required abilities ?
Can someone guide me what to do at the XI for the above scenario ?
Happy holiday ,
Yaki

Hi,
You are using XI just to transfer files b/n 2 systems and u dont need of any mapping requirements in XI as u r just transferring files via XI.
So XI will act as FTP server.
have a look at this blog:
<a href="/people/shabarish.vijayakumar/blog/2006/04/03/xi-in-the-role-of-a-ftp">XI in the role of FTP.</a>
U can do the same without using integration repository.
Please refer this link:
<a href="/people/william.li/blog/2006/09/08/how-to-send-any-data-even-binary-through-xi-without-using-the-integration-repository to send any data (even binary) through XI, without using the Integration Repository</a>
Hope u got it.
Cheers,
Prasanthi.

    Gentlemen!
    In the Unity Express system, can we use DNS name of FTP server (Microsoft FTP Server) instead of IP address in the General configuartion for Backup Server?
    e.g.  FTP://FTP_Server_Name/Directory
    Additionally we need to configure/add DNS server name in the Domain Name settings under system menu. Is there any additional configuration would require for setting up FTP server with DNS entry & above config?

    Backing Up and Restoring Data
    Last Updated: May 12, 2010
    Cisco Unity Express backup and restore functions use an FTP server to store and retrieve data. The backup function copies the files from the Cisco Unity Express application to the FTP server and the restore function copies the files from the FTP server to the Cisco Unity Express application. The FTP server can reside anywhere in the network if the backup and restore functions can access it with an IP address or hostname.
    We recommend that backups be done regularly to preserve voice-mail messages and configuration data.
    Backup and restore commands are available in configuration mode and in offline mode.
    •In configuration mode, commands are available to set the following parameters:
    –Number of backup files to keep (the oldest file is deleted).
    –URL of the FTP server where the files will be stored.
    •In offline mode, perform the backup or restore procedure. Decide the following:
    –Type of files to be backed up: all files (configuration and data), only configuration files, or only data files. Data files consist of voice-mail messages. Configuration files consist of all other system and application parameters.
    –URL of the FTP server where the files will be stored.

  • Background image for a FTP server

    I use vsftpd as a FTP server, and I've been wondering if there's any possibility to use a background image, when someone comes around via web browser.

    I know,I can set the background image in the Page Template but in that case Portlets do not take that image as a background.Then It looks very awkward.
    How to solve this? Anybody at Oracle.

  • Can SOA Suite acts as a FTP server?

    Hi,
    From documents, I known SOA Suite has inbound FTP adapter. Does that mean I can use it as a FTP server?
    Thanks,

    From documents, I known SOA Suite has inbound FTP adapter. Does that mean I can use it as a FTP server?No. FTP Adatper is not a FTP server. Oracle FILE/FTP adapter enables SOA components to exchange (read and write) files on local file systems and remote file systems (through use of the file transfer protocol (FTP)). The file contents can be both XML and non-XML data formats.

  • Setting up FTP Server on Mac OS 10.4.4

    Hello.
    I am trying to set up my Mac so that I can use it as an FTP Server.
    I am connected via BT Business Broadband and I am using the following router:
    3COM Office Connect ADSL Wireless 11g Firewall Router (3CRWDR100A-72)
    I have been assigned a Static IP Address, which I am 99% certain that I have entered correctly into the router. If I go to www.whatismyip.com it shows my static IP correctly.
    What I cannot do is access my Mac via FTP from another computer.
    I think I need to set up port forwarding on the Router to the Mac, but I dont know where to do this.
    Then, once I have that set, How do I set the Mac up so I can connect via FTP.
    I hope this makes sense..
    I would be very greatful for any help / advice.
    Many thanks
    Glenn

    Hi
    Thanks for the reply - its very much appreciated.
    So I go into my router and forward on ports 20 and 21. I assume that the router will automatically forward to the Mac without entering any IP addresses (?)
    You mention that if I need read /write access I will need an FTP client.
    I host some websites which I need to back up to the mac. The backend system allows me to automatically back up to any computer with ftp access.
    So, I want to have the back ups sent to the Mac using ftp. (The back end will connect using ftp://user:password@serveraddress
    which will obviously need write access. Would this still work without an ftp client. (as I write this, I have the feeling it would be OK as the back end to the hosting will be using ftp protocols anyway))
    Any clarification would be great
    Many thanks again
    Glenn

  • Can someone help me ue my ftp server

       Hey guys. I was wondering if anyone out there has any experience using the built in ftp server.  Heres what I would like to be able to accomplish and everytime I've tried in the past using it I fail. K, All I want woudl be to say, set up a file / folder that friends or say another person can download from my computer.   Does this mean I have set up a new user account?  Is the ftp server only usable for over local network, like in my house with other connected macs or windows. Can outside people access it or even myself from another computer.   One more thing, I use DSL which has a firewall. I've open the ports for the main things I use. However how will this affect ftp server and how would this affect logging in.   Hope to hear form someone.
    Nathan

    In the sharing system preferences you can designate folders that can be accessed by FTP. When you're presented with a login/password request, entering your account password will give you access to all drives and folders to which you already have permission to access (basically, everything on your computer). If you do not provide a login name, the server will present only those folders that are accessible by "everyone" (you can set this in the permissions next to the shared folders you designate in the "Sharing" control panel).
    The guest user is the user that's enabled when folks dont enter a password. This allows "everyone" to view folders you designate as "public" (by giving view access to "everyone" as I mentioned above). This user cannot log into the computer, but instead is reserved for network or remote access.
    Anyone can connect to your computer with FTP (if they know the ip address) once it's enable, but only you will have access to everything on your computer. If someone enters an incorrect login name it will either refuse them or only give them "guest" access, which is restricted to the shared folders you designate as viewable by "everyone".
    If you want guests such as your friends to be able to access files, just put the files in the guest-accessible folders such as the "Public" folder in your home directory. This folder by default is a guest-readable (only read...they cannot write to it) directory that's set up in the system preferences as such for FTP/AFP server access.

  • Java ftp server which can use LDAP, how to integrate with WLS' implementation of LDAP?

    Howdy.
    I'm setting up a java ftp server
    (http://www.mycgiserver.com/~ranab/ftp/index.html) which is capable of using
    LDAP for it's user security. I would like to integrate this ftp server with
    wls' implementation of LDAP so I only have to admin one user list.
    Does wls put it's user list in the LDAP or in it's own proprietary setup? I
    tried playing around with it, but the users don't seem to appear in the JNDI
    tree. Is this where the LDAP stuff is located? I thought it was in there?
    If it's in it's own setup, is there a way to propagate the users to LDAP?
    If these look like newbie Q&A, I guess they kind of are, I'm new to LDAP.
    Thanks for any input you might have.

    Peter,
    If you are talking about using the embedded LDAP server in WLS 7.0 for this purpose
    I think you are going done the wrong path.
    Look at the following URL on how to use an external LDAP server for your custom
    application

  • How to get file from FTP Server using File Control

    Hi,
    Any one did getting file from FTP Server?
    Please let me know any one help me.
    I would need to get file from FTP Server.
    Thanks,
    Madhu

    Yes I have done that. But In FTP Server I cannt read file, because no previliges. Only I need to copy file from FTP Server to local server then only I can read that file.
    I tried all options using FileConrol(getFiles(),read()).
    getFiles() - It wont copy the file, it give information about file.
    read() - I dont have previliges to read the file.
    Please tell me any other procedure would be there for getting file from FTPServer.
    Thanks,

  • Process TIFF file from FTP server using File/FTP adapter

    Hi,
    I have a requirement to process a scanned document TIFF file from a directory on an FTP server using the File/FTP adapter and process through XI into a Web Service via a receiver SOAP adapter.
    My question is can the file/FTP adapter be used to process the TIFF file into XI from an FTP server ? Also, what settings need to be made on the file adapter to allow this file to be processed into XI ?
    Thanks in advance

  • Need Help to locate a file on a FTP server using MediaLocator class

    Hi Friends,
    This is Venkat. Iam currently working on a Multimedia J2EE web project. Iam working on a requirement to
    show Thumbnail view for uploaded media. For this i have downloaded a standalone code from the following site.
    http://www.exactfutures.com/index02.htm.
    This code converts frames of a media files to jpg images which i can use them to show as Thumbnails.
    The code takes file name which is present in project folder as parameter. But in my web project iam using a FTP server to store my media files.
    The above code uses Java Media Framework along with another API Fobs4JMF. The media file name is passed to MediaLocator class constructor which is located in the project folder. Iam talking about a standalone application here.
    But my project is a J2EE web application.
    Now my problem is that, how can i refer a file which is located on a external FTP server and pass it to MediaLocator or some other class.
    Say the ftp file URL is mms://wm.testuser.net/12365741/testvideo.wmv
    Guys hope you are clear abt my problem. Please help me ASAP.
    Below is the part of code
         * Constructor
         public vid2jpg(String path) {
              MediaLocator ml;
              String args = path;
              if ((ml = new MediaLocator(args)) == null) {
                   System.out.println("Cannot build media locator from: " + args);
              if (!open(ml)) {
                   System.out.println("Failed to open media source");
         * Given a MediaLocator, create a processor and start
         private boolean open(MediaLocator ml) {
              System.out.println("Create processor for: " + ml);
              try {
                   p = Manager.createProcessor(ml);
              } catch (Exception e) {
                   System.out.println("Failed to create a processor from the given media source: " + e);
                   return false;
              p.addControllerListener(this);
              // Put the Processor into configured state.
              p.configure();
              if (!waitForState(p.Configured)) {
                   System.out.println("Failed to configure the processor.");
                   return false;
              // Get the raw output from the Processor.
              p.setContentDescriptor(new ContentDescriptor(ContentDescriptor.RAW));

    Hi Mani,
    Below is code that ran successfully on a cRIO-9002.  It looks much the same as yours, please double-check the formatting of your string controls.  If things still do not work, let's look at the cRIO more closely.

  • How to connect to a FTP server using a proxy in a DMZ with XI file adapter?

    Hello,
    Want to connect to an ftp server using a proxy in the DMZ. I don't see any standard options in the XI file adapter to use a standard. Is there a workaround?
    I already looked at https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/pages/viewpage.action?pageId=57137
    But it didn't help me.
    Regards,
    Erik van Lisdonk

    U can't use FTP over SSH i.e., SFTP. But u may use FTPS by enabling the SSL layer on J2EE of XI. See this

  • Unable to send file in binary mode to ftp server using AIR application

    Hi,  Can any one help me. i am trying to send local files to ftp server  in binary mode from AIR application using sockets.
    I cant use PASV mode for this FTP server because security restrictions. when i am trying to send Binary command i am always getting
    error code 500 which is unrecognized command. I googled for solutions but i cant find any one using Binary mode to send data every example is using PASV mode to send
    file.
    code example:
    private function upload():void{
    sendCommand("binary ");
    private function sendCommand(arg:String):void {
                                            arg +="\n";
                                            s.writeUTFBytes(arg);
                                            s.flush();
    in response i am getting unrecognized command.

    I'm successfully using an ftp example from http://http://projects.maliboo.pl/FlexFTP/
    that I converted to spark and uses a popup progress window.
    If you don't need to use sockets I can post a sample project.
    I believe I still connect with PASV, but have no problems sending Binary files.
    I don't think they're commands that are dependent on each other

  • Urzent: Delete files in FTP server using FTP receiver adapter

    Hi Experts,
    We are doing 2 asyncronous scenarios. frst scenario should delete existing file and place the request file. Second scenario should pick(delete) response file and delete request file it placed also.
    Scenario 1 : File(NFS) to FTP  (Asynchronous)
    Scenario 2: FTP to NFS  (Asynchronous)
    Scenario 1: (Receiver FTP Adapter )
    step-1: PI has to delete all existing files in FTP server
    step-2: PI has to place Request file in FTP
    Scenario-2: ( Sender FTP Adapter)
    step-1: PI has to Delete request file i FTP server
    Step-2: PI has to pick and delete response file in FTP server
    Doubts:
    How can we do above steps in PI
    Thanks,
    Murali

    Hi Krish - For scenario -1 You have to make use of the OS commands to delete the files on FTP server before placing the request file.
              -> write some script which wil connect to the FTP server and delete the files.
              -> call that script from the file adapter "using execute OS commands" option
    For scenario -2 :
    pick both the files(request and response) and set the processing mode to delete..
    during the receiver determination, process only request files(based on filename/content)

    In case of Business Service, writing a file to ftp location (i.e ftp://localhost/ means D:\host\ftp\osb) working.
    I used service account for both proxy,BS to connect . osb is username and same as password.
