Using XI to Transfer files

Hi,
A quick question:
How can I configure XI to only pick a file from one location and send it to another location, with no mapping involved. Is this quite straightforward to do in XI ?
Thanks

Create a configuration scenario and do all the
reciver/interface determination with a dummy Message interface(which need not exist into the repository),
create 2 Communicaton channel of for file of type FTP ,
it will FTP the file of any type from the source directory to target directory as per Communication channel configuration.
No need to give any mapping.
Sender Interface , Sender namespace could also be dummy (neednot exist in Integration repository.)
Hope this is what you wanted.
Regards,
Satish

Good luck and you are welcome.
Like I said, I bought one of their inexpensive enclosures and now can use the hard drive just as a source for the files that are on it...my external drives are much larger and faster so I just plug that drive in when I need something from it.

  • Using WEBUTIL to transfer files to server

We need to transfer files from Forms client to database server filesystem.
It seems, WEBUTIL_FILE_TRANSFER doesn’t provide this functionality.
We modified supplied webutil_db package body, so if the blobtable parameter is 'FILE' – closeblob procedure will use UTL_FILE to write OS file instead of updating blob in table.
    Now we can call
    webutil_file_transfer.client_to_db (clientfile => myclientfilename,
    tablename => 'FILE',
    columnname => myserverfilename,
    whereclause => myserverdir
This solution is working fine, but, of course, our concern is compliance of our custom changes with future releases of WEBUTIL.
Any plans to add something like Client_To_Server procedures to webutil?

    Just a thought..
    1) make table that accepts your blob via client_to_db.
    2) write a after insert trigger that copies file to an Oracle Directory on db file system.
You could also maybe use this PLSQL ftp package.. I havent used it.. Users talk about it frequently on other forums here, namely the sql and plsql forum.
    http://www.chrispoole.co.uk/apps/xutlftp.htm
Notice the "unloading blobs to database filesystem" line below.
With XUTL_FTP the transferring of the file IS the data loading process.
The file is NOT copied to disk, it's simply 'poured' straight into whatever table you like!
If this wasn't enough, it also has the other following uses:
unloading BLOBS to the database server file system (as UTL_FILE does not have a working binary implementation until 10g)
arbitrary unloading of data to remote servers
obtaining a file listing for a directory on the database server file system Message was edited by:

  • Using iPod tp transfer files to MBP

I put everything I want to transfer to my new MBP onto my video iPod. (music, videos and photos) I want to upload eveything on it to the MBP and then erase and re-format my iPod to Mac from Windows.
How is this most easily accomplished?
    <-----------------very inept computer user.

Well, first you have to enable your ipod for disk use, by checking the box manually manage songs....
I think you already did that since you alredy tranferred your files to your ipod
next you just have to connect your ipod to your mac , wait for it to recognize the ipod, and copy all of your files to your mac.
    As easy as that
to re format your ipod i think you have to run the latest ipod updater on your mac with the ipod connected, i really dont know.
But i did the same thing as you to tranfer my files and i did'n need to reformat my ipod, it works perfectly fine with my mac.
    hope this helped

The old computer is a Macbook pro OS X v 10.6.8.
Everything was fine with the transfer until i tried to login on the new computer with same accoutsettings as the old. My new computer is telling me: Could not login to the filevaultaccount during a problem.
Do anybody know why i get this problem?
    Cheers,

I took that to imply a separate account. Since that's not the case, all I can suggest is to disable filevault on the old machine, wipe the new, restore Lion, and start over. I don't use FV, but suspect that might be what's causing your issues.

  • Normally i use itunes to transfer files from Laptop to iphone4. Recently i am unable to see my phone in itunes library.  I uninstall and and reinstall and no improvement. When I connect my phone via cable to laptop, itune is not launching automatically.

I am unable to use itunes to tranfer appln from my laptop to Iphone 4. I uninstall and reinstalled. But still when I connect the phone to PC , itunes is not launching.

One thing you should definitely try is keeping your iPhone 4 connected via USB cable in your computer and restarting.  This should make the computer recognize that it is connected and as long as you have your iTunes set up to automatically open upon connection with your iPhone you should be all set!

  • Transfer files from External Hard Drive to PC?

Sadly, my iBook g4 1.2 GHz (2005) is on the fritz (see my other question on Apple Discussions if you're curious as to why) and so I must get a new laptop. Unfortunately, I can't afford any of the Macs available, and so will be purchasing a PC. I have been using a 250GB external hard drive to store my iTunes library (about 25GB, too much for my iBook's 30 GB HD to handle) and as a Time Machine. I need to know how to be able to put all of my music and docs onto the new PC. Would it be best to not use TM and just put everything I want on the external HD and then access it from the PC? Alternatively, I do have a small home wireless network (using an Airport Express)...if that's the better option, how do I use it to transfer files? Any help would be wonderful!

The easiest solution is to erase the external hard drive and re-partition it to use on the PC:
    Extended Hard Drive Preparation
    1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Set the format type to MS-DOS. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to MBR then click on the OK button. Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
Open iTunes and de-authorize your computer.
Copy your iTunes library in it's entirety (/Home/Music/iTunes/ folder) to the drive along with any other data you wish to transfer.
See the following about how to convert your iTunes library for the PC:

  • Formatting WD Hardrive to transfer files over 4gb / work with Windows?

    Hi,
I just got the WD my passport 2TB external hard drive. I see right out of the box it needs to be reformatted for Mac. I don't want to do fat32 again because I need to transfer large files. I have more than one mac, and also would like to have the ability to transfer files from a PC if I need to.
People mentioned the Paragon ntfs format for 20 dollars but I am iffy on it. I heard it doesn't work with Lion (which I have on one computer), and I wonder would I have to purchase and install it PER computer? I'm mainly looking for a universal thing to transfer 10gb files from one mac to another without having to install anything on whatever mac I use. And if i can do this with a PC that's a plus as well.
Are there any free reformatting options in disc utility that can do this? I feel like there should be. And if not what should I do? In todays age we deal with larger files sizes all the time so being able to back up something larger than 4GB on a Mac shouldn't be this much of a hassel.
    Thanks everyone

    Hi mende1,
Thanks for the reply. I don't know why someone mentioned to me to purchase something if exFAT comes free with disc utility. Are there ANY limitations using this?
I'm just iffy about getting a certain format because down the line I deff don't want to have to go thru the hassel of throwing my stuff on something else/formatting again etc... I don't have the space to do that procedure and it seems dangerous
    So for the record...if I use Mac's disc utility's exFAT I can:
    -use time machine
-transfer files as large as I want
-transfer these files from mac to pc, vise versa

  • Is it possible to transfer file wirelessly from pc to ipad(like you do with usb through itune)? not syncing and backup

So basically i want the exact same thing/function of using a usb to transfer file from pc to ipad through itunes but wirelessly? for example i am using kindle and playerxtreme(video app) on ipad air and i have some file i want to add. normally i would connect the ipad and pc through usb and transfer file with itunes but is there anyway where i can use wifi to transfer file with itunes instead of having to use the usb cable?

It is possible if your device runs iOS 5 or newer version and you're using iTunes 10.5 or newer. It's called WiFi sync https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT203075
I find it useless because in order to sync, your device must be charging (plugged in). I figure if I have to charge the device (plugged in to the charger) to sync wirelessly, I may as well plug it in to the computer. Sync speed is a lot faster over USB connection anyway.
