Using XML DB to parse xmls

Can i use XML DB to parse the XMLs and store their content in corresponding columns in the database table. If yes it would be helpful if i can have a look at some example besides this is it efficient to use xml db for this purpose.

  • Trying to use XML SAX parser with JDK2 ...

    Hi,
    I'm pretty new to Java.
I'm trying to write and use java sample using XML SAX parser. I try with XP and XML4J.
Each time I compile it give me a error message like
"SAX01.java:23: unreported exception java.lang.Exception; must be caught or declared to be
    thrown
    (new SAX01()).countBooks();
    ^
Note: SAX01.java uses or overrides a deprecated API.
Note: Recompile with -deprecation for details.
    1 error"
For what I found, it seems that "deprecated" mean usage of old classes or methods. What should I do ?
Wait for the XML parser to be rewrite ? ....
    Thank's
    Constant

    "SAX01.java:23: unreported exception

    or do this

Note: SAX01.java uses or overrides a deprecated API.

1 error"deprecation is just a warning if there are no errors elsewhere in your program it should compile fine, but if you want to find out how to change it do this:
    javac YourClassName.java -deprecation
then look in the docs for an alternative.

  • Using XML-based object structures to represent data in code/at run-time

    Hello,
I have quite a "high level" question which has be bothering me for some time, and I haven't found the subject tackled in any books. I believe J2SE/J2EE is not an important divide here.
Lets say I want to develop a J2SE game application with two programs: a "level designer", and a "level viewer", and I want to store the level files in an XML format.
My question, and I use this example only to try and illustrate it, is:
when coding the level designer or viewer, is it reasonable to use an XML-based object hierarchy for representing a level in code/at run-time, i.e. using the standard Java DOM APIs? Or should one (as I would have done before XML came along) develop a set of classes much closer to modelling the real form of a level, and then add a means to convert those objects to/from to XML format?
This second option of course I would use/would have used if I wasn't thinking about XML, but isn't it sometimes easier to just read in an XML file into a DOM representation and just use the data straight out of that structure, rather than go through the bother of parsing the XML into a set of unrelated objects defined by a different family of classes? What shapes your decision here? And if the second option is best, what is the easiest way of converting to/from the XML?
    Thank you for any advice.
    Greg

    Hi Christian,
Can I ask: what about if your domain was quite 'close' to an object/DOM representation of XML?
For instance, what if a game operated by acting out a theatrical script, a spoken conversation, between two characters, perhaps somehow influenced at points by the user, and a particular level was just a different script for the characters.
One could imagine that the object representation of this would in the end be quite similar to how you'd represent XML, i.e. like a tree of nodes, where each node was a line from the script, and some nodes were a decision point where different nodes could be chosen from.
Would you still want to avoid using XML-based classes to represent the underlying 'game', or is there a point where you would 'give it' to the similarity and use existing XML structures directly?
    Thank you for any advice
    Greg

I had a similar error which when I searched, came up with this thread.
My issue was resolved after I discovered that my RTF template was not really RTF. It was sill in MS Word DOC format. This was discovered by reviewing two templates in NOTEPAD. The MS-DOC files have a lot of "special" characters in them. My RTF was not really RTF.
After doing a SAVE AS - RTF format, then the preview worked as expected.

    Hi Friends,
I am trying to import the simple XML file which is just creating the folder in the PORTAL_CONTENT using XML CONTENT AND ACTIONS  which is one way of creating the portal content. GO TO SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION > TRANSPORT > XML CONTENT AND ACTIONS > IMPORT.
The reason for using this import tool is to upload the backend Business roles, which is not not working on our corporate portal. To test the import functionality I used the following xml file (I got this XML file by exporting the test folder in the portal using the same tool)

  • Using XML to create files through API

    Hi.
I created a new custom type - a subclass of "Document", with a few private attributes.
I wrote a small XML file that creates an instance of that type.
I have no problem using that XML with FTP or with the web interface - it parses the XML automatically and creates my custom file.
However, when I try to use the java API to do the same, it just copies the XML file into IFS, but doesn't parse it or creates the custom file that is defined in it.
I am using the IFSFileSystem.createDocument method, with parsing set to true, and "null" for the callback parameter.
Of course, the XML parser is registered (as I said, it works with FTP and web interface).
    Please help.
    Thanks, Edo.

Sure .. you can use XML as the data source. If you have DW8,
    you can even
do it right in the Dreamweaver Interface.

    Thanks in Advance

  • How to get & use xml data with jstl libraries? (URGENT PLZ)

I am using jstl to get and use xml data
I needs to perform operations on the parsed xml document with other libraries of jstl. How can i do that.
I used Dom variable to parse my document as:
    <x:parse varDom="test"> <c:import url="project.xml"/> </x:parse>
    where my project.xml is:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="iso-8859-1"?>
    <project>      <projectName>myProject</projectName> </project>
I can dislay this value in html by
    <x:out select="$test/project/projectName"/>
But I need a string value sotred in variable such as <c:set var="pname" value="???">
HOW CAN I SET THIS VALUE IN CORE VARIABLE THAT IS, USING <c:set...> SO THAT IT CAN BE USED ANYWHERE IN JSP PAGE TO CONCATE RETURNED STRING IN OTHER STRING VARIABLES DEFINED BY CORE LIB?

I believe that <c:set> should do that but i am facing problem in it. Look into this jsp scriptlet:
    1-<x:parse varDom="test"> <c:import url="project.xml"/> </x:parse>
    2-<x:set var="ds" select="$test/project/projectName"/>
    3-<x:out select="$ds"/> <br>
    4-<c:set var="tt" value="${ds}" />
    5-<c:out value="${tt}" />
In line 3 variable ds returns: myProject
In line 5 variable tt returns: [[projectName: null]]
perhaps on line 4 ds is storing some array to tt and i am not calling correct array element. I tried many options but still could not find solution. Plz Plz do something urgent for me. Thanks

HTML is only for presentations like web pages. XML, however, is use to define a new language like XHTML that is for presentations. But there are XML based language that is not for presentation, for example, XLink which allows elements to be inserted into XML documents in order to create and describe links between resources. All in all, XML is a much powerful language than HTML.
2> Please tell me role of SAX api in relevence to
    XML.
Simplely put, SAX is a XML parser like DOM that is used to process XML data.
3>What is difference between DOM & SAX.?
Take a look at this: http://java.sun.com/webservices/docs/ea2/tutorial/doc/JAXPIntro.html
    Hope this help.

  • Using XML to persist data

Im developing a small application and choosed to use XML instead of MySql because it's smaller and do not require to install a database on the client after software distribution.
The strategy was not keep all data in the XML file, so some parts are shared over folders.
    Example:
Let's say I have 10 logins (remember that login can't be repeated) so I have 10 foldes (packges) eah one with it's on xml file about the login info.
So far, it's working very fast.
The problem is that I don't know what parser (read/write) to use.
    1)
There's a lot over the web, but I'm affraid abaout memory and application size (I'd like to keep it small and readable later) ... so should I use Suns DOM or Stax?
    2)
There are simple things I really need: read the xml, change it if needed and display the data. So I need to populate my objects, change them and persist again. Also, I'd like to persist only the nodes that were actualy changed, keeping the unchanged data.

    No 1.
First of all, let me apologize. I kinda lost myself on my own explanation! Sorry.
    No. 2.
.....Yeah, I ended up finding an easy way to read those small xml files (the way I'm trying to keep them so far)...You're right, could be even SAX or DOM. I've choosed SAX by now.
.....The big problem was to understand all those acronyms over the web...beyond learning Java, XML we must remember all those words too. Not an easy task.
    No. 3.
Can anyone tell me EXACTLY how to use StaX ? Cause I will have to use it later by some xml on demand files i'll need to work with.
    No. 4.
As I've choosed SAX, how do I change only the tags that matter on the xml file? Is it possible?
Thaks a LOT for all the patient people from this forum.... You are the BEST

  • Search informations about using XML to create scripts (automate tests)

    Hello,
I search some (A LOT OF...) informations  about using XML in Labview. I know that Labview use a specific schema for XML, but I search examples or tutorials.
My aim is to control a VI with a script in XML, I would know if I can generate "while loop", modified attributes etc... with my XML file?
    Bye

    Hi leo,
first for all others: this is related to this thread!
    Then:
Your script should be handled by LabView in an interpreter-style. So you read in the script and parse the commands. For each command that is supported you have to provide the functionality in a state-machine like handling routine.
I would stay away from the before mentioned "LabView scripting", atleast for production-type programs as LV-Scripting is not supported by NI (and not easy to handle...)!

  • Serialising data objects using XML

Does the support for XML in wl6.0 mean that java data objects can be serialized using xml entirely within weblogic (currently we use a 3rd party product, and are hoping to remove this if possible)?

    What about SOAP?
Isn't that what SOAP does - marshals and unmarshals between objects and XML
You can use SOAP from Java, or C++ or whatever.
Contrary to a commonly held perception, SOAP doesn't require remote
transmission of the serialized XML datastream.
Where is the SOAP support for WLS6 ? I heard it was separately
    downloadable?

With some limitations, yes, if you are starting from a DTD - see the docsfor the WebLogic DTD2Parser tool which generates a high-speed custom parser
    for a given DTD.

This tool anticipates the JAXB standard (aka Data Binding, formerlyProject Adelard) - see http://java.sun.com/xml/ - which is due fairly
    shortly AFAIK.

If you were wanting to start with arbitrary Java classes and serializethem to XML you'd have to wait longer unfortunately, though there are some
implementations around, e.g. http://www.wutka.com/jox.html. This would then
correspond to marshalling if the objects were parameters to an RPC of some
    kind.

What I should have said is: can wl6 automatically populate java objects
from xml and vice versa? I believe this is called 'data marshalling and
unmarshalling', but I cannot find references to this in the doco.
