Using XP software for my home business

Yesterday, I was hit with reality: because of three functions had failed on my home based business laptop. As of today, unless I pay the $499 repair tag for re-setting V-Hyper Manager to run XP based software. I can't afford to update the software. I got
that AutoCAD 2008 software for $5000, but I failed to subscribe to annual updates. Now only way to have updated software is to buy the software for $5600-7000. Forget that.  Biggest question is... will Windows 10 PRO be able to run XP software FOREVER?
Of course, my laptop must have top quality and high performance machine. I have no problem with that, but I am just concerned if I always will be able to run AutoCAD 2008 software forever using Windows 10 PRO or later versions?

No one is really going to be able to answer your question directly.
Microsoft has clearly made it a priority to have Windows run older software all through the life of Windows.  Be glad you don't have an Apple system - you'd long ago have to have thrown that ancient autoCAD software away.
Out of curiosity...  AutoCAD 2008 would have been made for Vista, not XP, right?  That's a significant difference.  It's much less an issue to maintain compatibility with software written for Vista than for XP.
My personal experience is that Windows 10 TP seems to run older software just fine - assuming you can stand using borderless windows (ugh).  Microsoft really needs to return some configurability to the desktop theme, and maybe even offer several of
them.
On another level, if you're capable of designing things with AutoCAD, you are very likely capable of learning how to manage your Windows system so that you don't have to pay someone to repair your software.

I have a macbook air/ipad/phone, etc.  I use my macbook for my home business and bought a TC to do backups.  My husband does not want it to be our default wifi/modem as he is exclusively a PC user.  Does it have to be?  I thought it did everything wirelessly??  I don't want to start disconnecting our modem/router etc as we are all set up with wireless printing and backups for that computer.  If I have to muck around with it I am thinking of not bothering??

The TC will connect to your existing modem/router using an Ethernet cable. You will not have to use the wireless on the TC....you can even turn it off if you wish.
Backups to the TC will occur over your existing wireless.
Connect from a LAN <-> port on the modem/router to the WAN "O" port on the TC. Locate the TC anywhere that the Ethernet cable will reach. You can run the cable up to 300 feet with no loss.
Things will not automatically configure themselves. You will have to do some mucking around....no more than you would if you were installing the TC anywhere else.
Configure the TC to "create a wireless network". Once it is setup, you can ignore the TC wireless, or turn it off.

I have not upgraded to Firefox 3.6 yet because I am unable to use loginking software for auto login. When will a future update not exclude me from using this software?

I contacted Login King but never got a response. So, I'm hoping that a future update from Firefox will be the answer. How far off is 3.7?

  • IPhoto nightmare. Tried to import photos using Nikon software for the first time and all my photos disappeared from iPhoto 8.1.2 (and everything from itunes too). Newly reinstalled iPhoto crashes as soon as I import anything now.

Macbook OSX 10.5.8, iPhoto 8.1.2. I just tried to import some photos using Nikon software (View NX2) for the first time. When I next looked into iPhoto it was empty (so was iTunes but that's another story). I had backed up photos fairly recently but don't use time machine. Searched in vain everywhere and must have done something wrong because iPhoto wouldn't then open at all, saying it was unreadable. After a lot more attempts to recover I uninstalled iPhoto and the receipts and reinstalled from my original disc. It seemed to be ok and imported some photos from my iphone but as soon as the import is complete iPhoto crashes and when opened again it is empty. Have tried this several times and have shut down and have tried rebuilding with the alt and cmd buttons but nothing seems to help. Any ideas?

not a reply but not sure how to add something to my own thread! It seems that Desktop was damaged too as when I try to open it a screen says there is no application selected to open Desktop with. No idea what I should choose! Any help appreciated, have really made a mess of my MacBook this time.

  • Using Desktop Software for Mac with an 8703e - Can it be done?

I downloaded the new BB desktop software for Mac but it doesn't seem to work with my 8703e device.  And since I had to erase the PocketMac software to install the new BB software, I now have no way to synch my Mac and BB.  Can anyone shed any light on this?

You might check out the FileBrowser app on iTunes. I haven't used it, but it sounds like what you're after. When you say you can't use the Sierra iG2 with your iPad, I'm assuming you mean you can't plug it into the iPad. If it's plugged into a laptop and offering a WiFi hotspot, the iPad should be good with that. I use the Apple Camera Connection Kit to carry extra movies on an SD card. It uploads only to the Photos app, so no books, etc.

  • Can i use adobe softwares for commercial purpose while being in a trial period ?

Can i use the following softwares for commercial use (e.g Developing a product ) while i am using their trial version ?
    1. Adobe after effects.
    2. Adobe illustrator.
    3. Adobe Photoshop/ photoshop extended.
    4. Adobe Premier Pro.
    5. Adobe Dreamweaver.

Regarding the validity of my post here:  Actually there are several features that are turned off in various products that I have experienced in the past.  Acrobat pro trial for example does not have the ability to create reusable forms that can be edited by acrobat reader. But if you are saying that Adobe Media Encoder will render video in trial mode then this may have been part of my issue from the start as I brought this up in #26 of that issue
I only brought this up in relationship to what I have experienced with Adobe Media Encoder in regards to running in trial mode.
I am sorry if I seemed "snarky" it was certainly not my intent and while I can see where you can get that from an initial exchange, since you brought this to my attention:
    I openly and publicly apologize.
Certainly this is not the place for that. I find that sometimes it does help to laugh at my own situation then let it get to me however. I am honestly trying to solve my issue and during the process of that discovery if there is any information that I discover in the process that may help others... well I hope that is one good reason to post things here.

  • Can I use Microsoft Office for Student/Home for school?

This might not be the right forum to ask this question, but I didn't see any other options listed that dealt specifically with Microsoft Office.
I have to take a class for school that deals with using Microsoft Office Professional 2013. I have a Mac Book Pro Retina so obviously I can't use Microsoft Office Professional 2013. I have Microsoft Office for Student/Home, and according to the Microsoft website, the only difference is that the Home/Student edition doesn't include Outlook emails, calendars and tasks, although I have all three of those programs on my computer.
I contacted my professor for this upcoming class and received no response yet.
Can I get away with using this program? Or am I really expected to buy an entirely new program for one semester of school?
Any input is appreciated. Thanks in advance!

When he (professor) responds, it will be a definitive answer.  No one here can provide that for you.
    Ciao.

  • Bad request message trying to use website for my home business

I have my own business within Stella & Dot
www.stelladot.com Just today, I cannot access one tab on the home page menu that has to do with my personal financial activity and that of my team. all other tabs on the site can be accessed. I remember updating Firefox recently. This is extremely annoying!

It could be useful to know whether it last worked in Firefox 3.6 or Firefox 4...
When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    Save your work first!
    1. Clear Firefox's Cache
Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage: "Clear Now"
    2. Delete your stelladot.com cookies
From a page you can access on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
Then you can remove all cookies for sites ending with stelladot.com and reload. You'll probably have to log in again.
    Any luck?

  • Want to use my ipod for Mac @ home and PC @ work....

I have a Mac at home and have my ipod set up for the Mac I guess. So I brought the ipod to work today to hook it up to itunes here on my PC, but itunes says only Windows formatted ipods can be used and that I have to do a restore on my ipod to use it.
I thought you could use the ipod on multiple computers? I thought it didn't matter if it was set for Mac or PC because you could still use it on both.
Any help? I want to connect my ipod at work so I can get the music on this computer. Thanks!!

Windows computers cannot read the file format the iPods are in when they are formatted for Mac use. However, Macs can read the Fat32 file format that the iPods go in when they are formatted for Windows.
To use the iPod with both computers, you'll have to first restore the iPod on your Windows computer (putting the iPod into Windows format).
The only downside is if there is an iPod software update, you won't be able to install that to the iPod from the Mac, just from Windows computers.

  • Can I use Creative software for 2 Ze

I have a Zen Touch 20G, which I feed with Creative Media Source Software. I just got a Zen Micro, which came, of course, with its own software. Before I install the new files, I'd like to know if the installation will let me choose between the two MP3 players. Or do I have to install software No. 2 in a completely different place? Will the two remain friendly, or will one overwrite the other's Registry settings? Thanks.

The bad news is that the download ifor the newest versio is 52+ MB and I have only a dial-up connection. Is there sufficient advantage to the 3.30.2 version (over 3.0.09) to make the download worthwhile for me?
Unless you have some huge issue that requires it, personally I would stay stick with what you have. 52Mb is too much for dial-up. Alternati'vely, I'm guessing you have a friend with broadband You could always ask, and then copy it onto the Micro with the USB mass storage mode
To throw more numbers around: The Micro came with firmware version .0.03, but I see that ..0 is available. I did download the latest firmware but have not yet installed it. Any reason why I shouldn't, especially since I haven't yet loaded the Micro up with music and words, which I assume would be lost in a firmware upgrade.
The ..0 is a good firmware, I recommend upgrading to it (it has the reduced standby period, among other things).
To stretch the point even further: I listen a lot to Audible books on my Otis player. There has been talk on this list about an even more recent Zen firmware version that allows Audible formats to play on the Micro. But I don't see a reference to it on the Audible site. Any tips?
The Audible compatible firmware is one of the v2 firmwares, so is markedly different from v e.g. needing Win XP and WMP0. For more on this find the link "the difference between the Zen Micro v and v2 firmware." in the FAQ post.

  • How To Copy DVDs to iPod using free software for Windows

To take existing DVDs that you have around the house and put them onto iPod:
You'll need two programs, DVD Decrypter and Videora iPod Converter.
Now, use this step by step tutorial for converting DVDs with DVD Decrypter. Note: Once you reach the part about PSP Video 9, stop watching and use the 'One Click Transcode' option in Videora to select and convert the VOB file that DVD Decrypter produces.
Once you have a converted file, add it to iTunes in the same way as music (drag it into the iTunes library) and it will automatically copy across to your iPod.

Is that an error message coming up when you try to use the program? If not, I wouldn't worry about it.
If you cannot get DVDs to rip then that could be a problem. But to be honest, I have no idea what an ASPI layer is and my copy of DVD Decrypter works fine. I suspect this is probably an integral Windows component and you already have it.

  • Is it possible to create .cshtml page in dreamweaver?? Or we have to use any software for that??

Please Help me with this I am new in this field.

Does your website live on a Windows server? The above link you posted will require a Windows server for that to work but if you do, then you should be able to just follow the links instructions.
If your site is not on a Windows server (maybe it's on Linux?) then you would most likely need a PHP solution - something like this: http://www.w3schools.com/php/php_mail.asp. Depending on your host, they might actually have a ready-built form script for you to use so it might be best to ask them first.
You might also want some kind of validation to ensure you receive the correct information so something like jQuery Validate could work.
