Using Yahoo mail via Safari problem after IOS8 download

After downloading the IOS 8 update on my I5c, I am unable to sign in to my email account on Yahoo mail. I access this account on my phone via Safari. Prior to the download of IOS 8, I had no problem getting into my Yahoo account. Each time I tried to access the account I would get the Yahoo message :In order to use Yahoo mail, turn Private Browsing off.: I believe IOS8 is the problem because I have used my wife's I5c and get easy access to my Yahoo mail account. Has anyone experienced this problem? And what the heck is Private Browsing?

Any ideas?
Yes, what you describe is correct. With the new Yahoo "Mail Plus" a "smart" editable text box is displayed for the message area which the Safari iPad does not support. To use Yahoo mail you have to switch to the "Mail Classic" view. To do this look for the "Options" pull-down menu item on the upper right part of the mail page and select "Mail Classic". This should work for you.

  • When roaming (abroad) better to use G-mail via Safari? (less data download?

Hi - if i go abroad (from the UK) with the iPhone - given the charges per megabyte of data - am I better off having emails from my normal ISP mail accounts forwarded to Gmail (or similar) and then use Safari to go to Gmail to check my emails (rather than accessing my 'regular' Mail accounts on the phone) - i am guessing this method means you are downloading a lot less (in my case I receive LOADS of spam i would rather not be paying to download into my iPhone mailbox)

  • Can't sign in yahoo mail via safari after upgraded to iOS6

After upgraded to iOS6, I was able to sign in yahoo mail via safari only the first time but after that could not.  Every time when I tried to sign in yahoo mail, it returned to sign in page.  I have had the same problem with other upgraded iphones, but not iphone with iOS 5.
But if I clear history and cookies in the safari setting, I can sign in yahoo mail only once.  Every time when I want to sign in yahoo mail, I have to go to the safari setting and clear history and cookies.  I have no problem with gmail and hotmail.

  • IBooks problem after iOS8 download

My iBooks is not functioning correctly after iOS8 download. Keeps looping trying to download books, so cannot select to transfer to iCloud. Also while reading book shuts down & closes.

I have been having the iBooks crashing problem in iOS 8.x since I installed it on my iPad Air.  I tried bunches of different things but it would only work without crashing in Airplane mode.
Today I did a complete restore via iTunes and set it up as a new iPad.  I did not restore my backup to it.  I simply set it to sync all my books, music, apps and photos in iTunes and when it finished syncing iBooks is no longer crashing on me.
I don’t know if this will work for everyone/anyone else.  I’m also using Yosemite and iTunes 12, so that might also make a difference.

  • Yahoo mail via mac- smtp server authentcation issues using Rogers ISP

    Hi All,
I know there is tons of comments posted here that are quite redundant in respects to using yahoo mail via mac. I am in Toronto using Rogers as ISP and have set up my pop ok - incoming mail is ok. I try to send a test email and i am getting the message
Cannot send message using the server smtp.mail.yahoo.com
The server response was: authentication required - for help go to http://help.yahoo.com/help/us/mail/pop/pop-11.html
I hav tried all kinds of stuff here based on suggestions i have read in this forum.
    incoming mail server- pop.mail.yahoo.com
    outgoing mail server - smtp.mail.yahoo.com
server settings- port 587- have also tried 25
    ssl not checked
    authentication is not checked
i have tried smtp.rogers.broadband.com as an alternative also, but then it simply rejects my authentication password
I am really stuck here- if anyone out there in Toronto area using Rogers, has any feedback, i greatly welcome it.
    Hope to hear from you.
    Barry
macbook pro-   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    No. not SSL.
    Server authentication.
And i don't think you need to add a password there. You are already sending password from the POP settings - SMTP authentication picks up password from there.
This is from the help file at rogers.com (your ISP?)
    http://help.yahoo.com/help/rogers/mail/pop/pop-15.html
Are you sure that using these settings don't work?
This is for Outlook Express for Mac, but your Mail settings should be close enough to find the appropriate boxes.
If your friend is on rogers yahoo, just duplicate her settings except in the address/password boxes.
Outlook Express allows you to add a new email account to your existing profile, so you do not have to replace your current settings in order to send and receive Rogers Yahoo! Mail messages. To set this up, follow these steps:
    1. From the Tools menu, choose "Accounts."
    2. Select the "Mail" tab.
    3. Click the "Add" button.
    4. From the Add menu, click "Mail."
    5. In the Display Name text box, type your name, and then click "Next."
    6. In the email address box, enter your full Rogers Yahoo! Mail address (e.g., [email protected] or [email protected]).
    7. In the Incoming (POP3) box, type:
    pop.broadband.rogers.com
    8. In the Outgoing (SMTP) box, type:
    smtp.broadband.rogers.com
    9. Click "Next."
    10. In the Account Name box, type your full Rogers Yahoo! Mail address (e.g., [email protected] or [email protected]).
    11. In the Password box, type your Rogers Yahoo! Mail password.
    12. If you want Outlook Express to remember your password, then check the box.
    13. Do not check the "Log on using secure password... " box.
    14. Click "Next."
    15. Click "Finish."
To control deletion of messages from the Rogers Yahoo! Mail Server, follow these steps:
    1. From the Tools menu, choose "Account."
    2. Select the "Mail" tab.
    3. Double-click on your Rogers Yahoo! Mail account.
    4. Select the "Options" tab.
    5. In the Server Options section at the bottom of the window, check "Leave a copy of each message on the server" if you want to save your Rogers Yahoo! Mail messages on both the Rogers Yahoo! Mail server and on your local computer. If you would prefer to have your messages deleted from the Rogers Yahoo! Mail server after you have received them in Outlook Express, do not check this box.
To change your default SMTP port settings:
    1. On the Tools menu, click Accounts.
    2. On the Mail tab, click your Internet Mail account, and then click Edit.
    3. On the Account Settings tab, click Click here for advanced sending options, and then type 587 as the port number for your SMTP (or sending) mail.

  • When I try to open my Yahoo mail in safari, I get a message which states:" In order to use Yahoo mail, please turn Private Browsing off. Please go to Settings Safari Private Browsing, and turn off" The problem is my ipad does not a Private Browsing switch

When I try to open my Yahoo mail in safari, I get a message which states:" In order to use Yahoo mail, please turn Private Browsing off. Please go to Settings>Safari>Private Browsing, and turn off" The problem is, my ipad does not a Private Browsing switchat this location.

With iOS 7 on the iPad, you turn Private  Browsing on and off by tapping the URL field.  The screen that  opens up has your bookmarks on it.  In the bottom left corner is a hot button marked 'PRIVATE'.  Tap on the word 'PRIVATE' to turn private browsing on or off.  Yeah, there aren't any instructions anywhere that I can find to do this, and if you follow Yahoo's instructions, they don't work.  This doesn't happen with the previous Apple OS, and you can restore your iPad to the older OS.

  • Safari keeps freezing when using yahoo mail.

Safari keeps freezing while using Yahoo mail. Have to close out or reset safari to regain access. Anyone else ever have this problem?

Why not use Mac Mail instead of Yahoo's web based mail and having to access it via Safari and deal with incompatibility issues?
    Open Mac Mail.
From the menu bar top of your screen click Mail / Preferences then select the Accounts tab then the Account Information tab.
Click +  (plus) under  the Accounts  panel on the left.
Type in your name, Yahoo email address and Yahoo password then click Create.
    It's that easy.
To view incoming mail or start a new mail message just click the Mail icon in your Dock. If the Mail icon isn't in the Dock, go to your Applications folder, launch Mail. Then click and hold the Mail icon in the Dock, click Option / Keep In Dock.

  • How do I stop Safari from 'pinwheeling' whenever I am using Yahoo Mail? I really need a correct answer please.                                                                                             Mail? I need a correct answer please.

How do I stop Safari from 'pinwheeling' whenever I try to use Yahoo Mail?
I really need a correct answer please. Other answers have only suggested how to access Yahoo Mail without using Safari. I want to continue using Safari to access Yahoo Mail,if possible.  Thank you.

    Could be a cookie issue...
Go to Safari > Preferences then select the Security tab then click Show Cookies
Type yahoo in the serach field then click Remove All > Done
    Quit then relaunch Safari.
Try accessing your Yahoo mail account.
FYI... there is rarely a sure fire correct response for third party web based email client software. Often takes time consuming troubleshooting.

  • Trouble opening Yahoo Mail with Safari

Recently began having trouble opening Yahoo Mail with Safari.  I am continually asked to upgrade my Safari to a newer edition; however, when I do a software upgrade check it tells me I have the latest edition.  Anyone else having this trouble?

Your OS is way out of date and thus your version of Safari and Firefox are too. It would be wise to update Tiger using the combo update found here:http://support.apple.com/downloads/MacOS_X_10_4_11_Combo_Update__PPC
Then you can further update Safari to it's current version using Softwareupdate from the Apple menu.
You can also use Firefox Help menu to update to it's current version.
To be safe run Disk Utility's repair disk function from your original install disk and repair permissions before and after the update from your boot disk.
    Good Luck,

  • Yahoo Mail on iphone problem

I do have yahoo mail on my iphone for a while and it was working perfect.
    Few days ago I got:
Cannot Get Mail The user name or password for "[email protected]" is incorrect.
I do not have any problem when I login from my PC with same User name and password.
When I try to set up my email from I phone again. Here is what I got:
Cannot Get Mail The user name or password for “imap.apple.mail.yahoo.com” is incorrect.
I can make all my friends’ yahoo mail work on my I phone but only the one mail account used to be working fine does not working now.
    Can someone help me?

I've had Yahoo Mail Plus for over 5 years without any problems (Yahoo Mail "Plus" means you pay $20/yr to get POP mail access using a standard mail clients). But since I got my iPhone 3GS, I've been having frequent problems accessing Yahoo Mail from my Mac Mail client, via web browser, etc.. My iPhone replaced a Treo 700p, and I used to have no problems, even with two Mac Mail clients and the Treo accessing my POP mail every 5 minutes. Now, since my frequent problems started, I've cut way back on the POP access on all my mail clients (which Yahoo Support told me to do), but the problem persists.
QUESTION: Do you guys with problems have the standard (free) Yahoo Mail, or Mail Plus with POP access?
THEORY: When I got my new 3GS, it automatically imported the mail settings from my Mac Mail client. However, instead of keeping my POP settings for Yahoo Mail, it changed the setting to the Push/IMAP for my iPhone. The Push settings would be great for most people, but not so much for people with Mail Plus who access mail with POP settings. The problem is, when an email client accesses POP mail, it tells the IMAP mail client that all email has been read (when it's simply been downloaded). I think Apple should not, by default, import Yahoo Mail settings which are set to POP, and then change the settings to IMAP on the iPhone -- at least ask the user before making this change. Anyway, my uneducated theory is that the simultaneous IMAP and POP access to my Yahoo Mail Plus account screwed something up, and now I keep having problems accessing mail. I've since deleted the default Push Yahoo Mail account from my iPhone, and set it up from scratch as a POP account. But my mail problems persist.
Also note that, a detailed debug message I get sometimes (usually with error code 5, though once with error code 20) always list the same date/time, which is really close to when I got my iPhone, and also when my problems started. In my mind, that supports my theory. I've been waiting for Yahoo Support to address this detailed debug report, but they keep on giving vague responses (basically telling me over and over that my issues are due to accessing my mail too frequently).
Here's the error code details I've received when trying to access my Yahoo Mail via web browser (note the date in line 3):
    Error #5:
    0: ListMessagesFromIds
    1: SOAP-ENV:Server.MailboxOpenFailed.Busy
2: Error opening mailbox: mailbox busy
    3: V2.1.0 B1357.22 06/18/2009 07:28 AM
    4: cg1.c701.mail.mud.yahoo.com
