Using You Tube video clips question:

After importing several clips from You Tube (of varying quality) to incorporate into an editing project, the clips look okay and play full screen, in the "source" window, but when I put them in the timeline and play them in the "program" window, they are thumbnail size. Why does this happen? I tried converting...but still no luck.

yeah, i beg to differ on this. i have 100s of videos on youtube i did back when it first started before i saved my finished projects... (from 2005-2008 i would just record, edit, post, delete, because it was just random junk of me hanging out with friends, or just v-logging about stuff i needed to blow steam about) so one of these days i'll have to go through and download them and burn them for archives. Never say never

How to use You Tube clips in Final Cut Express?

I'm trying to use some You Tube clips in a Final Cut Express project - purely personal.
What I'm doing is this:
Play You Tube Video
Capture it as a Movie using ScreenSnapz Pro.
Saving it as a DV / NTSC quicktime movie - w/ 48 hz audio under Screensnapz options.
When I put it into the Final Cut Express timeline, it does not require rendering (I have loaded the DV/48hz sequence preset). But... the audio seems slower than it should be and the video is VERY much slower than it should be. The audio and video are not synched).
Other clips imported from other sources (such as video taken from a DVD using DVDxDV) is working fine.
What am I missing here?

Don't use ScreenSnapz Pro, anything you get from that is not going to be as good quality as simply downloading it directly from the source.

2. Export to Quicktime (Cmd-E) using these settings:
Compression: Apple DV/DVCPRO - NTSC
Frame Size: 720x480

Sound: Uncompressed Stereo 48kHz
Use a DV-NTSC sequence within FCE.

Using You Tube Karaoke Videos on a Mac

Hi, I have a Mac Book Pro currently using Leopard 10.6.8.
I would like to connect my Mac to my home theatre system and use You Tube karaoke videos. I am currently able to connect my Mac to my HT system via an HDMI connection, with no problems, but I fail to see how I can use YT karaoke videos through the TV and sound system (via my Mac) and also connect a mic, or 2 mics. If the audio and visuals are coming from the Mac via the HT, how can the HT also produce sound for the mic, I can't see how it can 2 jobs at once, so do I need a mixer?
I thought if I used a YT video downloader it wouldn't really change anything as I have basically 2 sound sources to be fed through one amp (the HT) and cannot see how that can be done.

Why do I get this error message when using you tube and how can I solve it. It just started happening recently.

There are a few possibilities I can think of.
A) file names are too long. What is "too long" for an iPod? I don't know, you'd have to experiment, but some people with outrageously long file names were unable to sync the file over.
B) Something in your conversion settings is incorrect. The iPod is pretty specific in what it will accept.

C) Are you certain that you are asking iTunes to sync the iPod-compatible videos to the iPod and not the original videos? In other words, you've converted your videos, removed the originals from iTunes and imported the converted videos into iTunes to sync to your iPod. The original videos and the converted videos might have the same name.
D) various strange problems happen when updating iPod firmware and/or iTunes. If you've done the 5 R's (http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/), then you may need to consider downgrading the iPod software and/or iTunes. Remember that in the 5 R's, "Restore" deletes your content, so be sure to have a backup of your iPod content. I believe downgrading firmware will also require erasing your iPod, too.

You Tube videos won't play using FireFox 12

Fire Fox will not play YouTube videos. When I go to the site, I see just a black box with no error messages. The video never loads. I have uninstalled flash player and re-installed with no success in playing you tube videos. IE will play you tube videos! I have disabled all anti-virus, firewall, plugins, etc and FireFox still will NOT play YouTube videos. Please help!

This still did not work. I have noticed that FireFox will not play any video on any website. I am able to play all video using IE browser.

I am unable to download & convert You Tube videos while using FireFox 26.0 & Downloadhelper 4.9.21

I have been using FireFox with DownloadHelper for years without any issues. However, I am no longer able to convert You Tube videos from flv to wmv. I have reinstalled both programs and tried reverting to an older version of FireFox. Any suggestions?

I updated and tried the ConvertHelper...still doesn't work.
The message I get is:

Could there be a problem with my converter license even though nothing indicated there is?

Word 2013 Saving You Tube Videos

I have a question. I have saved some youtube files onto my word doc. using 2013 office. Does the actual youtube file get saved or just a web address to open up a file. So...you are typing on your word doc. you go to insert then online
video files. One option is youtube. You choose one and it gets put on your word doc. You save the file. Is that you tube video file actually saved on the document or is it just a web address which when you open the video file it opens
up to a larger screen and goes to that web address. So if that address gets deleted in one or two years then your file won't open up.

For Mac OS 10.8.2,latest flash plug in, Firefox 19 will not play any You Tube video. Am at wits end.

The video seem to load, then start, run for about 5 secs, and then stop, no more video. This is on every You Tube video I try. Your instructions-troubleshooting ideas almost never fit a Mac OS 18.8.2 with the latest Adobe flash plug in. Nothing I have seen on your troubleshooting web site solves my problem, and I do not have the time to spend on this for the rest of my life. Fix it.

I just recently registered on this forum to see if I could help with answering questions from the users here. I did this because I like the apps and aims of Mozilla, and I'm willing to spend time helping people out with using these apps if I'm able to. That being said, questions worded like the one above do not make me want to spend much time being all that helpful.
My suggestion is that you wait a few hours (or day or so) before posting about a problem that is causing some negative emotional response for you.
If anyone has the same problem as what is described above, please post more information about their software versions (i.e. flash version), and whether or not the issue remains when taking the flash plugin out of the equation and using HTML5 on youtube (http://www.youtube.com/html5).
My initial thought is that the issue is with the flash plugin being used. Has another flash version been used?

You tube videos freezing with ipad2

I am trying to help a friend with their ipad2. Here is what they have:
IPAD2
Comcast as their internet service provider
Apple AirPort Wireless Router
My friend does not have a computer so I used my laptop to set up his secure network. I had to download the airport utility software on my laptop. He now has a secure network. My question is this...when he is using his IPAD2, and watching you tube videos, the IPAD2 screen freezes...if I bring my laptop over to his house and he uses his IPAD2, the you tube video's work fine. I left this evening thinking everything was working properly...we tried the video's that were freezing..and they worked perfectly. I get home,,,and he calls to tell me the freezing is happening again...Does anyone out there know what I need to do? I am thinking something has to be turned on or off his IPAD2. I have not had any luck finding any documentation that points to this...

Itunes cards and you-tube videos

I am not computer savvy and I have 2 (potentially silly) questions for Mac-addicts:
1. Can I use already used i-tunes cards on a new computer? Both cards are worth 1500 yen each. I got a new job and a new Mac. Hence the pb...
2. Can I download you-tube videos on my i-tunes and then copy them onto DVDs so as to play them on a DVD player?

Can't Download You Tube Videos Anymore???

Hi guys!
I'm just after a bit of help...
I've been using 'Wondershare All My Tube' to download and convert You Tube videos with little or no probs up until a coulpe of days ago... Jut found a video I liked, hit the 'Download' tab at the top right of the video, and away I went!
Now, however, I can't seem to be able bring up the 'Download' tab anymore, and I'm kinda stuck as to what to do now! Any ideas???

I am in the process of redesigning this website for my brother...to access it use the above link AND then click on the red New Website link in the upper left corner.
Right now I want to add a you tube video, which I have done via a link to an outside page link...it works but I think it is not very elegant (to say the least)...you leave his site, and go to You Tube and then have to come back...not that smooth. I have that video on my hard drive if I need it.
I tried using an widget/ html snippet...and it did accomplish having the video open in my site,
but now I have a 3 x 5 video window stuck on my screen...and I don't want that either
so I guess my question is how do I have access to the video, have it open in my site, and just be marked by a link or an icon...something smaller and not so garish ( I guess)

nope...that wasn't it, or probably more accurately, it isn't everything...it still doesn't work
here is what I have done:
from apple menu icon>system preferences>internet&network>mobile me
from the mobile me window selected account > account details
from that screen I selected the "idisk" icon at the top (the url becomes http://www.me.com/idisk/)
Home (little house icon) is highlighted and there are a bunch of folders including movies....I dragged the movie to that folder)
I clicked on that folder and thought the url would change, with maybe/movies added to it
so how do I know what the correct url (to paste in the snippet) should be
also should the movie be in the home folder or should it be in the public folder...(I put it in there also)
does this make sense...

You-Tube Videos on Macbook Pro

Suddenly I have a problem when viewing You-Tube-Videos. They keep breaking up on my Macbook pro. I never had this problem before. My browser is Safari. Any suggestions?

The Flash plug-in failure on Lion, is a Safari issue that can be fixed with these steps:
My Flash Player plug-in would not play videos on YouTube (using Safari in Lion). It turned out that my Safari settings needed to be reset after the recent Lion 10.7.4 and Flash upgrades. I called Apple tech...
This is what we did to fix it:
1. Open Safari.
2. Go to top left menu, under "Safari" click on "Reset Safari."
3. UNCHECK the first two boxes, leave the next three checked, plus UNCHECK the next two, and keep the last three checked.
4. Hit "Reset"
5. After the reset finishes, Safari will relaunch and you can test Flash by going to YouTube to see that videos will now play.
