Using your EE handset when abroad / roaming guide

Okay so first time posting hope i'm on the right bit! Just got to america and got no signal! Bought roaming global minutes and still no signal and can't make calls not even 150 to get a bit of help, can't phone the uk on the landline here either it doesnt work and i need to get in touch with the bank , tinkered with my settings a bit but to no avail... Any help please!?

Here's a quick guide for international ee roaming and some tips to get the most out of using your EE handset when you travel abroad.
1.  Check with EE before you depart that roaming is enabled on your account.  If you have had your tariff for less than 3 months (even if switching from another EE brand), there's a good chance roaming will be disabled.  You may also have to pay a deposit to roam.
2. It's a good idea to turn off your voicemail before you travel. Even if you don't answer a call when roaming you will be charged the standard international call cost for the incoming call (as the call is connected to your voicemail while roaming) plus the cost of another international call for the divert to your voicemail. This double charge occurs because your voicemail box is located in the UK and as such the diverted call routes back to the UK.
Send a text with the phrase remove voicemail divert to 150 will cancel the voicemail divert (sending a text with the phrase voicemail divert to 150 will re-enable the voicemail service when they return).  You can also turn voicemail diverts on or off by using the automatic menus when dialing 150 using the 'tech support' option 3 menu. 
As iPhone visual voicemail uses data and it's recommended that whilst roaming, the service should be stopped to avoid any additional roaming costs. EE customers should text iPhone visual off to 150 and Orange customers should text visual off to 150 to stop the service. If you have your data turned off, you'll still be alerted that you have messages and are able to call in and listen to your voicemails in the usual way.
3.  If you are going to be using your phone a fair bit for calls and texts and you don't have one of EE's older roaming tariffs or a 4GEE Extra tariff that includes roaming, consider purchasing one of the add-ons, which can be added via your online account or via the app before you travel.  These start from around £5 a month so work out weather it's going to be cost effective or not as if you only plan on sending a few texts, it's not going to be worth spending an extra £5 for an add-on.  Do remember to cancel these add-ons on your return to the UK otherwise they will re-occur every month.
4. For 4GEE users, turn off 4G before you depart.  EE doesn't yet have any 4G roaming partners.  Roaming on 4G is, however, due later in 2014 (no further details available yet).  You will still be able to use 2G/3G when roaming for now though.
5.  You don't purchase any data roaming add-ons until your actually arrive at your destination.  To use cellular data when abroad, simply turn on cellular data & data roaming and access the net using your device's web browser.  You will be automatically directed to an EE data roaming add-on purchase page. The cost of calls, SMS & data depends on where you are going. You can check the costs of calls, SMS & data and available Add-Ons for your destination using the Roaming Tool. 
If you use up your roaming data before the 30 days, your cellular data will stop and will be automatically directed to the add-on purchase page again.  The My EE app will show you how much roaming data you have used.

    You need to contact your carrier to make sure you have international roaming capabilities and check their cost for exchanging texts when roaming internatinally. MMS with the iPhone requires data access, and international roaming rates for data is expensive. Exchanging SMS when roaming internationally is not cheap either.

    It doesn't have to be that complicated, Verizon iPhones come unlocked, just tell VZ you're going on Holiday/Traveling and suspend the service, no need to pay for service if you're not going to be using it. Pick up local SIM cards in the countries of your choosing, pop them in, re-activate iMessage and you're set!
    I recommend getting a SIM card from the Three network in England, they have great EU roaming rates and free like-home roaming in Italy.
    Set your phone's region to match the country you're in, it'll save from some headaches when calling local/international numbers.
    To answer your questions,
    1. If you choose not to have a local SIM card, it is good to keep your phone in Airplane mode to save battery.
    2. Make sure the two iPhones have different names to reduce sync/restore issues.
    3. If husband has an iPhone also, you can chat with iMessage/Facetime, just give him heads up about the new number you'll have. Otherwise, use Whatsapp if he's got an Android. You can activate Whatsapp with your American number or the international number if you choose to get a SIM in Europe.
    Also, Get the MagicJack app and/or Google Hangouts, both of those apps provide you with free calling to the USA and Canada using any internet connection. Google Voice is another good way to SMS across the seas.

    I am having problems sending emails when using my ipod touch with wi-fi abroad.  When at home my ipod touch receives and I can send emails through my home wi-fi system but when away and logged into other wi-fi networkcan only receive emails and not send them.  Internet access is fine when abroad.
    I am assuming that this is to do with the outgoing server but this is only a guess!
    I am not very techy so any ideas how to resolve this problem would be gratefully received.

    Seems like the other networks are blocking you from sending emails.
    Do yo have more that one email account on the iPod?
    Have you tried sending from another account?

    I have 2 WFE behing F5 that handles ssl termination too. I have a site abc.xyz.com.
    At aam i have
    http://abc.xyz.com in default zone and https://abc.xyz.com in internal zone.
    AT sharepoint content source; I have both http and https of the above site version.
    DNS entry of abc.xyz.com is pointing at VIP in f5 which load balances this site at 2 different ips assigned to each web front end server.
    Now when i run search in this content source, searchable item populates but there is error for http request telling An unrecognized HTTP response was received when attempting to crawl this item. Verify whether the item can be accessed using your browser.
    Why is this happening?
    Is it because requests are coming to f5 as https but search is returning it as http? Will SSL termination removal from f5 solve this issue which i really don't want to do? Will pointing dns entry to two ips in wfe instead of f5 VIP will work?

    Someone on a different device only needs to sign with your iCloud ID and password in order to access your account, they don't need to answer any security questions if they have your credentials.  If you think this happened, you should change your iCloud password as explained here: iCloud: Change your iCloud password.  After you change the password, you will need to change it on your devices by going to Settings>iCloud>Account and entering the new password.

    From Help Menu-> Sign out and Close Muse.
    Restart Muse, and from Help menu-> Sign in again.
    And see if that resolves the issue.

    i wish apple would make an "exclude" option though tbh.
    i have some others called ... in the name "...soundtrack" (one word) or "hidden track" and "teaching track" !
    i've got another one literally called "track by track walk through" lol
    now im wishing there was just an option to select these oddballs and exclude them individually.
    i cant come up with rules for every single possibility, but i cannnn eliminate those odd songs when i see them if there was an exclude option.

    Could you try disabling graphics hardware acceleration? Since this feature was added to Firefox, it has gradually improved, but there still are a few glitches with some graphic cards/drivers.
    You might need to restart Firefox in order for this to take effect, so save all work first (e.g., mail you are composing, online documents you're editing, etc.).
    orange Firefox button ''or'' classic Tools menu > Options > Advanced
    On the "General" mini-tab, uncheck the box for "Use hardware acceleration when available"
    Does that make any difference?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    You don't need to do anything, you have chosen to back up to iCloud instead of iTunes.
    Being able to back up to the cloud can be very useful, especially if you don't have access to a computer or have infrequent access to one, however unless you specifically need to use iCloud for back up, you will find backing up to iTunes significantly more convenient and possibly more reliable.
