USSD request on N80

Hi, guys!
I recently bought N80 (with last firmware) and faced a strange problem.
To check my account balance I send USSD-request (you know like "*#110*10#" or smth), but on this phone after sending a request nothing is shown. Simply standby desktop and thats all. Reqeuest sends, I see this stripe line like progress bar, and nothing happens. No new messages, no info on the screen. I even tried to send rerquest using "Service Mesages" in Messages Menu, but still the same. On any other phone (7610, 7370, V3x...) works good, so its not an operator's problem.
Whats wrong?

Apdating to the latest ios 7.0 I am unable to complete USSD requests. It was working very well with ios 6.1.4. It tries to make a call instead of performing my request and says that the number is not valid.

Try to reset your Network Settings:
Settings -> General -> Reset -> Reset Network Settings

I am facing one problem, I have got 1 USSD menu(USSR reuest) in ARABIC language, for that i have to respond back also in ARABIC digits, but I am unable to respond back in Arabic language, I can send the response in English but in that case server is rejecting that.
My doubt is, Can I respond back in Arabic language or not. Pls reply this asap.

USSD codes not working in German GSM Pre, Mobistar network (Belgium)

Hi, Mobistar here in Belgium has many services accessible via USSD codes. I'm trying to use the budget check which works by dialing #5580# and hitting 'send'. It will send me a message back giving me my available minutes, data, etc.. When I try that code on the Pre all I get is this:

You're lucky. For any USSD request I try to send from my Palm Pixi, I just get the immediate response: "USSD request failure. Network failure." It's a failure of the device, not the network. This means I cannot top up this prepaid phone except by transferring airtime from another phone, which means I need two phones. And I've tried the 6T stuff, apart from reinstalling the operating system, which I can't see will help. What to do?

This is a limtation in IOS 7, I Denmark seveal companys is using USSD to forward calls i the company. And now it's not possible, thats a big problem.
Apple's answer is, that it's a security hole, they have blocked, and not a limitation :-(
So don't upgrade to IOS 7 if you want to use USSD on you Iphone!

The stability of the phone has improved with the latest firmware. There are less fatal crashes requiring the removal of the battery to recover.
There are just too many faults and limitations remaining that annoy me on a daily basis.
Email client is very slow to download attached images (17kB jpg can take several minutes or fail completely).
Access points need to be "fudged" using a 3rd party app (which is part of the new firmware) to get mildly reasonable connectivity but it still asks to connect at every opportunity.
The E72 bluetooth (BT) only works with car kits supporting streaming audio over bluetooth. This renders the Nokia SatNav client 'mute' and therefore useless in many cars with buit-in BT.
The E72 is on a 2yr contract but I was so fed up that I bought an Android phone which seems pretty good - the basics work perfectly.

Your primary problem seems to be that the subscription you purchase is not recognized in your mobile app.
Are you signing in with the very same account on the Skype web account page and on your mobile phone? Can you please also share which mobile platform you are using (Android, Windows Phone, iPhone)?
Did you try placing the call from Skype on your computer?

N80 requesting date/time after restart

I posted regarding this issue this morning. If I turn my new N80 off, it asks me for the date and time every time I turn it back on again
I have now worked out that if the handset is on charge when swithed off and back on again it retains the date/time information.
Does this mean that any 'internal' or back-up power supply is faulty/missing? I assume this phone must have one?

But this is a problem and it's only happened since I updated my firmware.
Fair enough. However, I can also remove my battery and I still don't lose the date and time on my N80. It can't just be the firmware upgrade that has caused this, there could be another issue.
What that is I don't know.

Handle 2 simultaneous lifecycle requests

Ok trying to work out the best way to handle 2 simultaneous requests.
What I have�
2 pages one with information the user sets
the second (opens in new window) has a report dependent on the information in the first page.
So i can use stanard navigation as i cant open in new window have to use javascirpt window.open
Obvious problem the getters on the second page are being called before all the processing of the first page is done.
So I am tyring to work out the best solution at the moment I have some Booleans and doing some thread.sleep() really isn�t a great robust solution so I am trying to work out the best way to do this in jsf.
I am thinking I should use either a phase listener or a view handler but not exactly sure which is the best and what is the best way to do this?

A: Yes. For example, if you are connected to a headset, you can also transfer files to another compatible device at the same time.
Note: Some active connection might limit establishing another connection. E.g. if your phone has an active connection to headset you can not connect your phone simultaneously to car kit.
So it appears to be a problem with car kits only, this is why I have no trouble with headset and GPS receiver. I hope this sheds some light on this matter.

Updating N80 ie to v5.0719.0.2 firmware

I'm trying to update the firmware on my Nokia N80 Internet Edition. This mostly due to the USSD problem with the current firmware version 4.0707.0.7. The problem is Nokia Phone Updater won't finish downloading the new firmware (68.9 MB)It gives the following error everytime I try do the update:
Downloading Update Failed
Nokia Software Updater attempted to download your software but has failed more than three times. This could be because of a poor-quality, slow or intermittent internet connection.This could also be because of problems with our servers.

Just wanted to know if you're aware of this problem? I was downloading at 25 KB/sec speed which can hardly be considered slow for the region of Africa I've been living in. Somehow I keep getting the failed message after a little while.I think it's just timing out. Wanted to ask if there's a workaround for this?
I was thinking maybe there's a way of increasing the timeout for the download in a settings file, or maybe I can download the new firmware separately and then use the Software Updater application to install it?
I'm quite tech savvy and not scared of detailed instructions.

Yes the firware update went great and I can now read USSD messages.
I think the problem was simply the ISP having one of it's frequent problems.
So once the connection picked up so did the update.

Interactive USSD codes - not working

When will this feature be addressed? Every phone on the market today in Europe supports replies to USSD messages!
In my current home network, I need to type in *797# and choose an option from the presented menu (1, 2, 3 or 4) in order to check my balance, which I am able to do with any phone, other than my Pre (sw v1.4.5) - my request simply times-out.
I don't want to swap out SIM cards every now and then just to interact with my network... will Palm at least acknowledge the fact that USSD codes don't work properly? Mmkay?

Same problem in Malaysia. I have try two main carrier DiGi and Maxis. Simple USSD(like check balance in one page, not menu) is OK, but the interactive ussd can't use, SIM card toolkit will open when I send the USSD code. I think the main problem is webOS as both carrier isn't virtual carrier.
P.S.Even Nokia 3310, the famous and classic phone in Malaysia History can also use USSD and USSD run full-functionally.

I have a nokia Lumia 710. I just upgraded to WP7.8.
There are currently a few issues/limitations with windows phone. First was bluetooth sharing, which was solved in the 7.8 update. Second issue is with USSD. It's really hard for prepaid users to keep track of thier account balance due to this.
Currently nokia is the only OEM who has managed to over come the bluetooth sharing issue. I still don't know why it wasn't added by microsoft as a part of their OS.
And currently I'm having a lot of problem with USSD. I can't check my balance, I can't check the internet data left, it's really annoying.
I hope in the future we get an update which could make the dialer support USSD. Or maybe a third party app like Nokia's Bluetooth Share, which would show us a USSD menu.

Finally I found the answer here for my question which nobody answered in the thread about WP7.8. It's disappointing that USSD hasn't been implemented even after so many requests and so many updates.
The suggestion about changing the SIM to another phone is not a solution. I am using Lumia 800 which uses micro-SIM, changing it to my other phone (which uses the normal SIM size) would require an adaptor and I can't be carrying it with me all the time. Besides, I am also using the rubber cover which came with the phone (it fits very well on the phone which makes the process of removing the SIM card more difficult).
USSD is not just used to check a prepaid phone account balance, but it is also used for those one-time-password generated by my bank for online transaction. It's really hard to accept that such basic feature can be left out and I have not seen any effort in bringing it into the current WP7.x phones. Whenever someone asks about USSD support in WP7.x, those who are involved in the development of it just ignored the question.

Yes, the new version is 5.0719.0.2 it is available now (I really dreamed last night that Nokia has launched this 5th version) when I checked I was very happy because I thought it would solve all the problems I have in my last V4.0707.0.7 but unfortunately it solved only some bugs but the most important bug has not been solved and the new version has the same bug as the previous one:
1.Phone requests Time/Date when restarted – whenever switched off and back on (this is the most important bug and I want to reply to the guy who thinks that it is a hardware problem: NO it is a bug in the new firmware because I haven't had this problem before i update to V4.0707.0.7 I am deadly sure)this is still on the new version 5.0719.0.2 !!!
2.No service messages available, it show requesting then nothing (ok this was solved on the new version)
3.A cursor appears blinking at the right side of the balloon that shows caller number(this is still on the new version 5.0719.0.2 !!!)
4.Led stays blinking even after using the keypad and when calling (ok this was solved on the new version)
5.Lower video quality (ok this was solved on the new version)
I was waiting for the new Version to solve all the bugs specially the first one - but now after the new version I am thinking to throw Nokia products forever as I am not willing to wait more than that withouht the alarm colock, reminders, and more important I used to switch off my phone to get a quiet sleep since the new version I cannot sleep well, I have to leave my phone switched on to keep the clock running! but what if the battery runs out especially it lasts for less than day and all N80 users know this well and i think this bug cannot be solved.
I want to tell all the users of N80 that we are all have been screwed by Nokia - I am really disappointed and wouldn't ever think that I will use other brands than Nokia but know just to retort this to Nokia I will have to use other brand

come on nokia, we really need new firmware for n80!!! 4.07 i very buggy! makes the great phone useless in some functions (like ussd codes). any information about new firmware is valuable.... pls hurry!!

from the posts on this site, I agree. BUT I'd rather they didn't hurry it - you don't want to replace buggy firmware with more buggy firmware.
