Utility Port

The Utility Ports in the wireless lan controllers, When is used this ports? Which is its proposite?

Hi Ricardo,
I have searched Hi and Low and have spoken recently with some experts about the WLC Utility Interface and all they can tell me is that it is reserved for "Future" use and serves absolutely no function at this time.
Hope this helps!

  • Port Scan with Network Utility

I'm a little confused by the results of a port scan I just completed using Network Utility. With ARD checked in the Sharing Services pane I believe that ports 5900 and 3283 are opened but while the port scan revealed that TCP 5900 was opened there was no mention of 3283. Could this be why I'm having trouble Observing and Controlling a remote machine? I have also checked all Access Privileges for ARD.
Hoping someone can throw a little light on the subject.

Thank you JD and Dave for your responses.
I've moved on a little since my post of a week ago and although I still can't work out why the Network Utility port scan didn't detect 3283 I have been able to connect to and Observe and Control a remote client on my small LAN. I have two machines connected through a Linksys router - one connected with airport and one directly connected with ethernet.
On the Admin machine (machine A) I have four accounts: New York, LA, Chicago and Miami.
On the Client machine (machine B) I also have four accounts: London, Paris, Rome and Berlin.
The main account for machine A has been New York and for machine B has been London. I have been unable to use the Observe and Control feature from New York to London although all other services are available.
As a test I opened three other accounts on each of the two machines and discovered that I could Observe and Control using any combination of the new accounts but still not the original New York account. I have also connected to machine B using a dns service address so this tells me that port forwarding on the router is configured correctly.
I believe there is probably something in the configuration or preferences files of the New York account which is preventing me from connecting to any of the other accounts on machine B. The error message I get when trying to Control or Observe is "Connection Failed to Machine B".
Any thoughts on the matter would be greatly appreciated.

  • What is the minimal number of open ports needed to use forms apps

    Hi,
Our network administrators are doing a network segmentation / security project and they want to make it so that only authorized users can ping or see my oracle EBS server on the network, but they also want to lock down all ports that users can see, except for port 8000, which is the port we use to serve EBS on apache. I am having an argument with them. Because we use forms in socket mode, I am arguing that we need to keep all ports open because forms uses a port range and creates a socket with the users's PC in addition to holding/maintaining the Apache connection. My network administrator is saying no, it holds the socket connection in the background and they only need "access" to port 8000. I would agree with them if I was using servlet mode, but I don't think they are correct in socket mode. What port range do I need to make sure they allow through in addition to port 8000? BTW we use all the standard ports in EBS (eg 8000 is the out-of-the-box Apache port). Note also we have have single tier 11.5.10.2 installation on a solaris sparc server, so the ports that the 11i apps needs to interact / connect with itself is not relevant to the question. Also, the IT group (me) will still have access to all ports to do telnet, ssh, ping etc, we are only talking about from our end users's PCs. They are telling me to install Wireshark to find out more, and do some testing which I will - but I want to know what to expect.
    Thanks Marv

    Hussein,
Ok I have read the above documentation extensively. One thing that is quite clear is that if I switched to servlet mode, then all traffic goes through the Apache port (in my case 8000) and that would be the only port users need access too -- and this would be like setting up a DMZ or firewall inside the intranet. However, given that I am having performance issues, I need to know how to do this using forms in socket mode.
So for example in MOS 414439.1 it lists the entire ports and port pools. So I've taken that list, and separated it into groups One and Two (see below). My question is: To access EBS in the intranet by users, which of the ports in Group One is needed? And are all of the ports in group Two NOT needed? thanks in advance. Marv.
    Group One of Port Pool
Web Listener Port s_webport      8000 ---> this is needed for sure.
Forms Listener Port s_formsport 9000 -------> this seems to be needed for sure.
Forms Servlet Port Range      s_forms_servlet_portrange      18000-18009 --> is this needed in socket mode?
Forms Start Port      s_frmStartPort      20000 --> is this needed?
Group Two of Port Pool - I believe that users do not need to have access to these ports for EBS, even
    in forms socket mode..

  • Need step by step to get port 48705 open for Panasonic Bluray

Classic handoff syndrome.  Brand new Panasonic Bluray connected to internet out of the box with Airport Extreme, streamed fast. Imac running Snow Leopard.
Updated Panasonic firmware and no connections.  Panasonic tech tried for a half hour and concluded that I needed my ISP to open port 80, 443 and 48075.  I think that 80 and 443 are open by default. Resetting the settings and the player did nothing....gateway: fail. There is no way to undo the firmware update.
Call India and Verizon says that they cannot assist me with AEBSn just Verizon routers.  All searches for this problem give directions with too many blanks that I don't have the info to fill in.  Below is an example of an attempt in the community to help.  I wouldn't know where to find the <missing info> . I couldn't find the port mapping tab in this version....help would be appreciated.

Re: how can you perform a Port Forwarding Procedure on Ports 48705, 443 and 80 so my Blu Ray player will be able get and IP address and connected to your gateway.
    Oct 1, 2011 11:22 PM (in response to doc9850)
Again, you would only need to configure for port mapping if you intend on accessing the Blu-ray player from a remote location.
Port mapping takes two basic steps:
Either assign a static Private IP address or use the AirPort's ability to allow DHCP to assign a reserved IP address to the Blu-Ray player, and
Configure the AirPort, using the AirPort Utility, for the proper ports to map.
The following are the basics for setting up one of the newer 802.11n AirPorts for port mapping/forwarding: AEBSn - Port Mapping SetupTo setup port mapping on an 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Station (AEBSn), either connect to the AEBSn's wireless network or temporarily connect directly, using an Ethernet cable, to one of the LAN port of the AEBSn, and then use the AirPort Utility, in Manual Setup, to make these settings: 1. Reserve a DHCP-provided IP address for the host device.AirPort Utility > Select the AEBSn > Manual Setup > Internet > DHCP tab
On the DHCP tab, click the "+" (Add) button to enter DHCP Reservations.
Description: <enter the desired description of the host device>
    Reserve address by: MAC Address
    Click Continue.
MAC Address: <enter the MAC hardware address of the Blu-ray player>
    IPv4 Address: <enter the desired IP address>
    Click Done.
    2. Setup Port Mapping on the AEBSn.AirPort Utility > Select the AEBSn > Manual Setup >Advanced > Port Mapping tab
    Click the "+" (Add) button
Service: <choose the appropriate service from the Service pop-up menu>
Public UDP Port(s): <enter the appropriate UDP port values>
Public TCP Port(s): <enter the appropriate TCP port values>
Private IP Address: <enter the IP address of the Blu-ray player>
Private UDP Port(s): <enter the same as Public UDP Ports or your choice>
Private TCP Port(s): <enter the same as Public TCP Ports or your choice>
    Click "Continue"
AirPort Utility Port Forwarding for AE is not an intuitive app. It is version 5.6.1 which is up to date for SL.
http://www.google.com/search?client=safari&rls=en&q=48705+port&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8  shows that other people are needing to do this with various routers.
The player is Panasonic DMP-BDT500 Integrated Wi-Fi 3D Blu-ray DVD Player
FYI, the player plays disks beautifully.
    Thanks for any help.
    David

My problem seems to be that my AirPort Utility does not have Port Mapping under the Advanced Tab.
This tells us that you have another router "upstream" on your network, which you may call your modem, but it is in fact a modem/router or gateway type of device.
The AirPort Extreme is configured correctly in Bridge Mode to work with this type of device on your network.
You can verify this by clicking the Internet icon, then clicking the Internet Connection tab. You will see that the setting for Connection Sharing is set to ""Off (Bridge Mode)". That means that the AirPort is not providing the routing services for your network.
Your modem/router or gateway is the device that will need to be configured for port forwarding / mapping.....not the AirPort Extreme.
I am sure that Tesserax will have similar comments.

  • AirPort Utility says no devices found, but 2 are hooked up and running

When I AirPort Utility I'm getting the message "AirPort Utility was unable to find any AirPort wireless devices. Make sure the AirPort wireless device you want to set up is plugged in and in range of your computer, and then click rescan to try again."
What's odd is my Mac Mini is logged into my AirPort Extreme, and I tested my AirPort Express, and it is working also. Why is AirPort Utility having problems seeing these two devices that are up and functioning properly?

Could this be a PC/Mac firewall application issue? i.e. TCP 5009 for the AirPort Admin Utility port.

  • How to close port 3795 Myblast

Network Utility Port Scan shows tcp port 3795 open.
Apple does not list this port in Sharing <- Preferences,

    name for this tcp port.
I do not know what Myblast is, but I do not think
I want it. How do I close this port?
Is there any vulnerability my system is exposed to

  • HDMI port in Nexus 2000

All models of the nexus 2000 has HDMI port
Installation guide says it is for console connectivity. There was no special cable supplied with Nexus 2000.
anyone tried to use that port? I want to what type of cable connector to use to console in to the FEX. Anyone knows what type of cable to use??
I know FEX can be consoled in using attach fex 101 command on parent switch but then what is purpose of this HDMI port.

    Krunal,
It is not an HDMI port, though it kind of resembles one.  This port is utility port used by manfucaturing & TAC.  As the N2K is managed by the N5K which has your traditional console port, it's not necessary for console access direclty to the FEX.  It's stictly for diagnositcs.  These ports are standard on FEXs including the IO Modules within a UCS Chassis.
These cables are not supplied to customer or available for purchase.

  • How to forward ports using Airport Extreme?

    So,
I wanna forward some ports but every guide I find on the internet describes how to use the Airport Admin Utilty to do this. The problem is though that I can't configure my AE using AIrport Admin Utility; I need to use my Airport Utility instead. The only problem is that I don't know how to forward ports using Airport Utility.
    Anyone?

In AirPort Utility, Port Forwarding is called Port Mapping which is under the Advanced->Port Mapping tab.

  • WRT320N. Port forwarding help. Xbox and ps3 playing at same time. NAT issues

    Hi
I'm trying to have both my xbox and ps3 play with open NAT's for online gaming. I have had success utilizing info from 'portforward.com'. But the solutions will unlock OPEN NAT for either the ps3 or the xbox .. one at a time. Is there a way to get both to be open?
It seems like one main conflict is the success depends on both utilizing port 3074. But I can't have both use it? ( obviously).
I tried port forwarding the xbox per specs off of this forum and that works great.. And DMZ ing the PS3. But like i said before. Most solutions
leave one console with OPEN and one with Moderate.
Is there a solution that allows both NAT OPEN's on both consoles?

First of all XBOX works on a different port number and PS3 works on a different port numbers. Follow the steps below to open the ports on your router for XBOX and PS3.
Open an Internet Explorer browser page on your wired computer(desktop). In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1 and press Enter...Leave Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
This settings are for your XBOX.
On the set-up tab change the MTU Size to 1365 and click Save Settings...
Click on "Administration" tab and disable the option UPnP and click Save Settings...
Click on "Applications and Gaming" tab and then click on "Port Range Forwarding" subtab...
    1) On the first line in Application box type in ABC, in the start box type in 53 and End box type in 3074, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box, click Save Settings once done...
    2) Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings...
3)Click on the Status tab and take note of DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses...
    4) Goto the XBox Network Settings and IP Address Settings and select manual IP Settings and assign the following on your Xbox IP Address :- 192.168.1.20, Subnet Mask :- 255.255.255.0, Default Gateway :- 192.168.1.1...
    5) Also assign the DNS Addresses on the Xbox Use DNS1 and DNS2 Addresses you took note off of the router status tab as Primary DNS & Secondary DNS for the xbox...
    6) Turn off your modem, router, and Xbox...Wait for a minute...
    7) Plug the modem power first, wait for another minute and plug the router power cable, wait another minute and turn on the Xbox and test it...it will connect...
For PS3 Follow the steps below
Click on "Administration" tab and disable the option UPnP and click Save Settings...
Once you return to the set up page click on the Security tab and uncheck Block Anonymous Internet Requests and click on Save Settings...
Click on "Applications and Gaming" tab and then click on "Port Range Forwarding" subtab...
    1) On the first line in Application box type in ABC, in the start box type in 80 and End box type in 80, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
    2) On the second line in Application box type in DEF, in the start box type in 443 and End box type in 443, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
    3) On the third line in Application box type in GHI, in the start box type in 5223 and End box type in 5223, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
    4) On the fourth line in Application box type in JKL, in the start box type in 3478 and End box type in 3479, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
    5) On the fifth line in Application box type in MNO, in the start box type in 3658 and End box type in 3658, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box...
    6) On the sixth line in Application box type in PQR, in the start box type in 10070 and End box type in 10080, leave the protocol as both and under ip address type in 192.168.1.20 and check the enable box and click on Save Settings
    7) Now assign the given ip address on your PlayStation ip address :- 192.168.1.20, subnet mask :- 255.255.255.0, default gateway :- 192.168.1.1...
    8) Also assign the dns addresses on the PlayStation Primary dns :- 4.2.2.2...Secondary dns :- 192.168.1.1
    9) Turn off your modem, router, and PlayStation...Wait for a minute...
    10) Plug the modem power first, wait for another minute and plug the router power cable, wait another minute and turn on the PlayStation and test it...

  • Lion server doesn't delete open port service once added in time capsule mgmt from server app.

I was trying to set a specific port to avoid file sharing conflict using time capsule as main router with lion server.
I added a new public service in Server.app in time capsule section where you can manage Airport setting and open ports for mail cal vpn etc. I  assigned a port and given a name as requested. In my case a named "test"  and gave port number 5678 to try.
Once I decided to delete this public service I noticed that anytime I make a changes in Server.app in Time capsule settings Server.app perform a refresh and the deleted servirce appear again and again with the same name and same setting in airport utility (ports management)
The only way to delet it is to go in airport utility and delete that from there. But in the chance you want to make another change in TC managemnet from Server.app you.ll see the service deleted from everywhere magically appearing again in your airport device in my case a TC.
Callled Apple and they said to investigate the forum.
Now if I maje a change in Server app. TC section to add or remouve public service I have 10 usefull open ports (not enabled) in Airport ( TC)
    Any Help?
    Thx
    Jo

I have been having this same problem, except that I cannot open basic ports through either app. I've tried opening the standard web services port on 80, but neither app (Server or Airport Utility) will open it. Apple support has been worthless.

  • How do I enable Port 80?

When I do a port scan of my server with Network Utility, port 80 doesn't show up. I can enable and disable port 80 on a client with Personal Web Sharing, but how do I enable it (what could possibly be disabling it?) under Mac OS Server 10.4.7?
The client and server are behind the same hardware firewall.

That's the problem. With no sites, Apache is not
listening to any interface... it's quite interesting
how Apache even started without any sites.
So, maybe you should have started out with, "Help,
cannot create any websites using ServerAdmin". What
are the steps you went through and what other
symptoms (Error messages, green/red lights, greyed
    out options, etc.) are there?
Thanks for your interest, Celia. I started an earlier topic in the Web Services forum, "Can't see web pages on server, not even from the server", to which you posted a couple of times, but with 15 posts (none since Sept. 22) it seemed unmanageable.
So I zeroed in on one of my problems, hoping (in vain, apparently) to avoid chicken/egg issues.
    Summary of my situation:
    (1) when I try to add a site Apache gets SIGUSR1 and restarts
    (2) When I do a Port Scan port 80 doesn't show up
    (3) console.log contains
    Server Admin[12080] * Assertion failure in -[NSTextFieldCell _objectValue:forString:errorDescription:], AppKit.subproj/NSCell.m:1298
    (4) system.log contains
servermgrd: servermgr_dns: no name available via DNS for 10.10.1.40
servermgrd: servermgr_dns: no hostname set and unable to detect via DNS, services may not function properly - use changeip to repair
    (5) configtest shows 4 'already added' warnings but syntax OK
    (6) The sites dir contains
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 1041 Mar 20 2005 0000any_80.conf.default
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 533 Sep 21 16:47 virtualhostglobal.conf
    -rw-r--r-- 1 root wheel 502 Mar 20 2005 virtualhostglobal.conf.default
The first file contains all finds of stuff but no Listen. The middle one contains only comments. The last, default one includes "Listen *:16080".
All I'm trying to do is get intranet access to the server so I can use a Mantis (needs MySQL & php) bug database.
