Utilizing item category ALEN - Creation of PO is not auto generated

All,
I am utilizing item category ALEN during my sales order creation process.  ALEN is set up with "create purchase order automatically" flag.  I am utilzing schedule line CB and I have maintained the order type NB, item category is 0 and acct. assign category is M.  When I save the sales order, the purchase requisition is being created, but no purchase order.  In fact, it doesn't seem to be even pulling against the data maintained in OVX5 (See below).  I have read OSS note 332475 and I have followed those instructions, but my PO is not being generated.
One other question - when the ALE data is input for the sales organization (t-code OVX5), what have others input when the vendor, purchasing org and plant can vary (meaning, at times we transfer from plant A to plant B; then for the same sales organization, we transfer from plant B to plant A.  Maintaining just one vendor against the same sales organization does not make sense to me as it will change depending upon the sourcing and receiving plants for the same sales org.
I have performed a search in OSS on Third Party Order Processing when it relates to individual purchase orders and how to properly configure when using ALEN and TAB - very little information to be found.  I can find a great deal of information on third party processing when it relates to the utilization of TAS and ALES item category.
Any insights or areas to check would be very greatful.
Regards,
Sandy

All,
This issue has been resolved internally.  I had to set the CB schedule line to using "7" stock transfer item category .. then apply a note to address an error message (note 883133).

  • Item category for free goods that does not require extra free goods

    Hi all,
I have created 3 item categories (ZM1J, ZM0J and ZMFJ)
ZM1J is standard item for sales
    ZM0J is free goods
    ZMFJ is also free goods
I have setup VBN1 for free goods "buy 10 get 1 free" and my order is including these 3 item categories
ZM1J 10 EA and ZM0J 1 EA. These 2 lines are correct as I need.
Then I give other free goods which is ZMFJ 10 EA and system is asking me to give free goods 1 EA but I don't want to give free goods for ZMFJ. I will deliver only 21 EA (10 for sales and 11 for free)
What config it should do for this case?
Another question, ZM0J is selected by default. How to manually change it to ZMFJ in sales order?  This is because some case, I still need to use ZM0J.
Please advise. Thank you very much.
    Best Regards,
    Darin

    Hi,
Item category is determined by the four combination
Sales order + item category group + usage + item category at higher level.
Now you are using free goods determination procedure.
So that does not depend upon item category determination.
You have to define the item category determination so that proper delivery and proper pricing happens.
Now if you are giving 10more free item for which you have maintain free goods determination master data.
Then system will automatically give one more free goods for that material.
but if you giving some other material as a free goods then please let me know.
Give your requirement that in which way you want to process your ZMFJ then we can give you better suggestion.
To define alternative item category go to
IMG u2013 SD u2013 Sales u2013 Sales documents u2013 sales document item u2013 assign item category.
Over here you can assign alternative item category for your combination.
If you assign over here then you can change manually in the sales order.

  • Item Category N (non-stock item) in BOM creation - Preq Generation

    Hi All
I have a material component that is planned in APO and not in ECC6. We would like to keep the one BOM for the finished good. Problem is that when we perform the backflush in ECC6, the system wants to backflush the material and causes errors due to missing stock.
So I assigned the material as a non stock item in the BOM but the system will auto generate  a purchase requisitions for Non stock bom components (item category N) when the process order is created. It is possible to turn off the auto creation of the purchase req for non stock bom components?
    I have tried the following:
    - Explosion type in item data, created new key with 'Switch off planning' indicator set in system configuration
    - created new 'Z' item category with inventory management de-selected
Both approaches causes system error: Puchase data of material in not maintained
I also tried leaving as a stock item with the bulk material indicator selected in the item data. This does not work as the cif will then exclude the component when data is transferred to APO
Funny enough, the system does not generate a purchase req for non stock bom items when using Repetitive Manufacturing. Any help will be greatly appreciated
    kind regards
    Grant brockelbank

    Hello Vivek
    Thank you for your response
The item is a non stock item. I do not want this item to be backflushed at all. This can be achieved using the 'N' non stock item category but the problem is that the system will attempt to generate a purchase requisition when the process order is created.
I do not want the system to generate a purchase req in ECC6 as this item is a planning material that is planned in APO (used for medium to long term planning in a simulation version). We are hoping to use the one Bom for ECC6 and APO planning. The generation of the purchase reqs is a bit of a waste as we will never convert them and there is potential to cause issues for purchasing.
    Any other thoughts?
    Thanks again for your help
    kind regards

  • Credit Check while creation of Sales Order for Item Category Purchase Req

    Hi Experts,
We are creating Sales Order using an Order Type ABCD for a material 1000. While creating Sales Order, we use Item categories (ZOVD, ZOVB,ZOST,ZOVP and ZOBO).
Credit Check settings are there at Order Type ABCD as well as all the Item Categories (ZOVD, ZOVB,ZOST,ZOVP and ZOBO). We are trying to test a scenario where a customer does not have enough credit limit while creating a sales order.
When we create a sales order for Item Categories (ZOVD, ZOVB,ZOST,ZOVP), credit check fails because our customer does not have enough credit limit, so that Sales Order gets created and Delivery does not get created (This is what we want), then we go into VKM1 manually and relase the sales order and then if we go to VA02 and check the status of the Sales Order, it says sales order status is complete. My Sales Team is saying here also Purchase Requisition is getting created.
When we create a sales order for Item category ZOBO, it is going into Purchase Requisition screen. Once we give another plant in the create purchase requisition screen and save it we are getting a message that cannot create Purchase Requisiton because of Credit Block.
The settings were same for all the Item categories.
    1) What made difference to complete Purchase Requisition for Item Categories (ZOVD, ZOVB,ZOST,ZOVP) and not for Item Category ZOBO when my customer is not having enough credit Limit.
    2) Why Purchase Requisition screen is not coming for us when we create an Sales Order for Item Categories (ZOVD, ZOVB,ZOST,ZOVP). We only get Create Purchase Requisiton Screen for Item Category ZOBO.
    Thanks

  • Message no. V1321 - Item category ALES is not defined for this item

    Hi,
I am trying to use ALES - Item Category for creation of the Sales Order. But i am getting this eerror message as Item category ALES is not defined for this item. Please let me know the config changes that i need to do to use this Item Category.
    Thanks in Advance !!

To maintain the item category for a sales order type first you have to assign the item category in SPRO.
    SPRO>Sales & Distribution>Sales>Sales Documents>Sales Document Item>Assign item categories.
In the screen Change view Item category assignement:overview screen
select your sales document type + ItemcategorygroupUsageHigherLevel Item category
Then you have to maintain Default item category and Manual item category.
Default item category will be proposed by the system when you enter a material in sales order. You can change the item category to any one of the manual item category maintained above.
For e.g.: You are creating a thrid party sales order. Default item category is TAN, if manual item category is maintained as TAS for this combination of sales document type + ItemcategorygroupUsageHigherLevel Item category and then system will allow you to change item category to TAS. If this is not maintained then system will give you an error as"Item category TAS is not defined for this item".
Again depending the item category further acitivites will be carried in SAP, like in third party item (TAS) PR screen will be displayed.

  • No PReq Item Category for 3rd Party Order

    Hello,
I am trying to set up the 3rd party process but having a problem with the item category in the generated purchase requisition.
I know that my sales order item has a schedule line category of CS. This should create a purchase requisition item with an item category of 5.
However, my requisition item is getting " ". I have checked the config and it looks ok.
Does anybody have any idea why the item category in my schedule line is not being picked up? The requisition item is getting the correct account assignment category.

Stuart, I don't have an answer to your question but am wondering if you could help me... I too am trying to set up 3rd party ordering.
Did you set up your material as a non-inventoried (DEIN) material?  How did you handle the account assignment cat value in the purchase req?  Mine is defaulting to "X"... do I have the option to change that?
    Thanks in advance,

  • Item Category "U" in Intercompany Stock Transport Order

    Hi Gurus,
Your expert advise on the below functionality is needed..
    Scenario:
Intercompany STO, Document Type : NB , Delivery Type : NLCC
In the Source List, Intercompany Vendor and the Supplying Plant is maintained. Also i have made the Source list relevant for MRP.
MRP is run for the material, SAP generates PR(Document Type NB) with Item Category "U" -Stock Transfer.
I am getting error message when creating PO with reference to this PR, as Standard PO document type NB does not have link to Item Category "U - Stock Transfer".
For Intercompany STO, Item Category should be blank, I am not sure why SAP generates PR with Item Category "U".
If i do not maintain the Source List and generate PR  it is created with Item category as blank. Then i am able to manually assign the Source of supply.
Kindly let me, what needs to be done to generate PR for Intercompany STO in MRP without Item Category "U' in it.
    Regards,
    Hemant

    Hi,
SAP creates the requisition with item category "U" even in case of cross-company (intercompany) purchase requisition.
When converting it to PO the item category becomes blank - as I tried and I got no error message.
Please check your settings under SPRO > MM > Purchasing > Purchase Order > Define Document Types (V_T161). You will see (if standard settings have not been changed) that NB requisition type with "U" item category is allowed for NB purchase order type with " " (empty) item category.

  • MD04: Unable to see Purchase Orders with Item Category S

    Hi,
Whenever we create Purchase Orders with Item Category S (3rd party), they are not visible in MD04 Stock Requirements list.
Is there anyway we can get the Item category S Orders to be displayed in the MD04 list?

    Hi,
I am unable to see Third party POs with open quantity also.
If I create a PO with blank item category (i,e to stock, it will show in MD04)
but if i create PO with item category S (it does not show in MD04)
Can you suggest how we can get item category S POs to be displayed in MD04

  • Use of Item Category Group

    Hello All
can any one explain the functional use of Item category group maintained in CRM material master under basic data tab and also under sales and distribution tab.
what is the difference between two views and what happens if dont have value at Sales and distribution level.
    Regards
    Phani

    Hi Phani,
    1. Item category Group is just a key which comes from the Product master and helps in the item category determination.
Item category group in the Material Tab, is a general Item category Group valid for all sales areas.
Whereas the one maintained in the Sales and distribution tab becomes specific to that particular sales area.
For eg: To a Product HT-1011 u have assigned two sales areas say A and B
In the Material tab, we assign item category group NORM
In the Sales and Distribution tab, for sales area A , we assign item category group ZORM.
In the item category determination the following settings are maintained:
    Assumption transaction type is TA.
    Transaction Type: TA
    Item category Group : NORM
    Item category: TAN
    Transaction Type: TA
    Item category Group : ZORM
    Item category: TANN
Now in the sales order if u enter product HT-1011 and choose sales area A, TANN will get determined, if u choose B TAN will get determined.
It is not mandatory to put the item category group. It onlu helps in the item category determination. In case u have not assigned any item category group, it will look for a item category dtermination entry something like:
    Transaction Type: TA
    Item category Group :
    Item category: TAN
    Wish this helps.

  • Item category cannot be changed

    Hello experts,
Using the transaction OVEP when you select an item category and try to change it is not possible.
See note: 459285 Revenue recognition: Item category cannot be changed (but does not apply in previous version --> The problem is corrected as of Release 4.7.)
    Version: 6.00
    Please Help!!!
    Thank You.

    Hello,
It is necessary to perform the full assessment process before we can
release the functionality for you. (See OSS note 820417 - section 'new
    customers').
Avter release of the functionality the RR category is redy for input.
The assessment is a free-of-charge service SAP offers to
ensure that mandantory conditions and customizing settings are met.
The first step of the assessment would be to fill the attached
    questionaire.
The second step of the assessment would be to provide
representative test cases which are done (the test should include
all your processes and consider also the non-straight
forward processes like price changes, cancellations, ...)
This assessment is necessary in order to get future support
by SAP in terms of the revenue recognition functionality.
If you have the release from SAP side, then it should be possible to chage the item type for revenue recognition.
I hope that the information are helpful.

Note 1358696 - Document splitting: Business transaction "SKIP"
All correction are in place, but still error message is there, Looking for suggestion

    Hi,
    1. In order that document splitting recognizes how the individual document items are to be handled, you need to classify them. You do this by assigning them to an item category. The item category is determined by the account number.
You need to assign the following accounts in the system
    1. Revenue account
    2. Expense account
    3. Bank account/cash account
    4. Balance sheet account
The classification of all other accounts is known to the system, so you do not have to enter them here.
The following item categories are included in the system:
    1. Customer
    2. Vendor
    3. Cash discount offsetting
    4. Asset
    5. Material
    6. Expense
    7. Revenue
    2. In short, Exclude item category 1001, which is technical, in fact you only need to assign the item categories like, B/S Account, Cash Account, Expenses Account or Revenue Account according to you general ledger number range.
If the GL Account 3xxxxx  is the balance sheet account then simply use the item category 1000.
In such case, you can ignore the warning message and continue saving. It is appearing because you are changing the numbers
    Thanks,
