UTorrent won't download ANYTHING after installing OS X Yosemite

I decided to update my MacBook Pro, which at that time was running on Mavericks, to OS X Yosemite. Before updating my Mac's OS, I decided to reformat my computer's drive just because I felt that it had too much clutter which I could no longer keep up with. The overall installation and upgrade went by pretty smoothly. Fortunately, I had no encounters with glitches whatsoever.
My nightmare began when I reinstalled "uTorrent". After the installation, I decided to download an episode of a show I was currently watching and a movie. I'm not an expert on uTorrent, but I do know that a certain file downloads faster when there are a lot of people downloading that same torrent. I was well aware that these two torrents I was downloading were being downloaded by a lot of people so, I was expecting the ETA to be around 5 hours or so (I live in the Philippines so internet IS really slow compared to countries with lighting speed internet HAHA anyway...). Aside from the blank ETA on uTorrent, I also noticed that the numbers (which I presume is the speed?) that were always present on the uTorrent logo on my dock were now gone! No numbers at all! Just the logo itself!
I decided to uninstall the application and install it again, but nothing changed. I then tried to go to uTorrent's "Preferences" and then go to the "Network" tab. I decided to change the "Proxy Server" from "none" to "HTTPS". After doing so, I noticed that the uTorrent logo on the dock started to have number again. Unfortunately, the problem was still far from fixed. The speed(?) went from blank to numbers like: 0.3, 0.5, 0.8, etc.- which is NOTHING! I then went back to "Preferences" and went to the "BitTorrent" tab. I then changed the "Outgoing Encryption" from "Disable" to "Enable". Now, the numbers on the uTorrent logo on my dock are constantly changing but are along the lines of 5.0K to 13.0K.
The numbers which is usually present on uTorrent logo are 100.0K to 180.0K. Of course, these numbers still depend on the torrent I'm downloading. But, I assure you that the torrents I'm attempting to download right now fall into the category of 100.0K to 180.0K.
I'm really desperate for answers. I'd really appreciate a reply to my dilemma.

  • Mac won't start up after installing OS X Yosemite

i recently installed OS X Yosemite to my iMac i believe it is a late 2007  I have not been able to use the computer since then.  When I start it up the apple logo comes on a load bar comes under it, it fills about halfway then the mac turns itself off.  I've tried to safe boot, tried turning and reporting the Mac tried holding alt-command-p-r.  So far nothing I do can change the status of my Mac.  Please help

Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the
computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager
screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
    5. Reinstall Yosemite from Scratch:
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
How to Clean Install OS X Yosemite

  • Download Bootcamp After installing Windows

    Hello,
I'm tring to install windows7 on a brand new macbook pro 13inch.
I tried to do all the bootcamp steps on the mac side, but I just wounl't download the driver and bootcamp stuff, so I unchecked that box and just created the USB with the windows installer and created the particion.
I now have windows installed but can't find anywhere (ANYWHERE UNBELIVABLE) where to download bootcamp and all the driver.
How can you installe/download bootcamp after installing windows, is it really possible that the only way is to go to bootcamp assistante and keep trying to download from there, where there isn't any info or anything, just a bar that takes forever and when it crashs you just have to start from the beguining.
I can't belive there isn't a direct link to download bootcamp.
    best regards
    Francisco

The only place to get the Windows Support software is from within Bootcamp Assistant. Keep trying. Also, you should visit the Boot Camp forum. https://discussions.apple.com/community/windows_software/boot_camp

To open your domain file in Lion, Mountain Lion or Mavericks or to switch between multiple domain files Cyclosaurus has provided us with the following script that you can make into an Applescript application with AppleScript Editor. Open Script Editor, copy and paste the script below into Script Editor's window and save as an application.
do shell script"/usr/bin/defaults write com.apple.iWeb iWebDefaultsDocumentPath -boolean no"
    delay 1
    tell application "iWeb" to activate
You can download an already compiled version with this link: iWeb Switch Domain. Note:  you may have to Control (right) - click on the app after uncompressing and select Open due to the Sandboxing feature of OS X.  If you have problems with the app create your own with AppleScript Editor.
Just launch the application, find and select the domain file in your Home/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder that you want to open and it will open with iWeb. It modifies the iWeb preference file each time it's launched so one can switch between domain files.
WARNING: iWeb Switch Domain will overwrite an existing Domain.sites2 file if you select to create a new domain in the same folder.  So rename your domain files once they've been created to something other than the default name.
NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible in Lion or Mt. Lion enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder.
For Mavericks and Yosemite go to your Home folder and use the View ➙ Show View Options menu to bring the this window:

After installing the new Yosemite OS on my iMac I can no longer send email. I can receive email, but not send. I use gmail and can send email on the gmail (google) site, but not on "mail" on my iMac. Any others with this problem? What should we do?

My gmail, which is correctly configured for Mail with gmail SMTP and Google IMAP, works for awhile on Mail, which I leave open while working on other applications. But several times a day I get msg from Google: "We recently blocked a sign-in attempt to your Google Account" . . . and requiring me to verify my account details, re-enter passwords, confirm security settings (or change them from "disable" to "enable less secure methods" and so on). In Mail I also have tried "taking all accounts online", and re-entering my gmail password inside Mail account settings. These steps successfully re-set comms between gmail and Mail ... for awhile, then it happens again. Enough occurrences over a work day that I just quit Mail and revert to accessing gmail directly. Apple Care advisor and an Apple knowledge base article say that Apple can't deal with this, as gmail is third-party app, and they refer me to gmail, and so far I've found nothing helpful there.
From today I also have several instances of a window saying "Mail has unexpectedly closed" and asking me to Re-open it.
I also use Yahoo mail, which stops working with Mac Mail at the same time as gmail, but I do not receive notices to re-verify from Yahoo.
I recently upgraded from Mavericks to Yosemite. The Mail problem happened occasionally with Mavericks but is far more frequent with Yosemite.

After installing OS X Yosemite 10.10.2 -  I get this when I try to open Illustrator “ To open “Adobe Illustrator CS6” you need to install the legacy SE6 runtime.” I can not get seem to do this, how is this done?

    Robert,
It seems to be enough to create empty folders at “/System/Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/1.6.0.jdk” and “/System/Library/Java/Support/Deploy.bundle”, to make Illustrator use Jave SE 8 as it should.
This way to get round the legacy JAVA requirement was presented by Kals in post #7 in this thread:

    Hi Mofimac,
Thanks for visiting Apple Support Communities.
If your Mac is only starting up to a blank gray or white screen after updating OS X, you can find some useful troubleshooting steps in this article:

I recommend going through these first three sections first:
Disconnect, test peripheral devices and network cables
    Perform a Safe Boot

It's beta open source software so I'm not surprised. It does't look to be too active a project, so I don't know if it will help or not but you might be maybe better off posting a bug report on their Sourceforge page here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/kompozer/

  • Ghosting (burn-in) on MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012) after installing OS X Yosemite

Has anyone started noticing ghosting (burn-in) on your laptop screen after installing OS X Yosemite ?
I'm using MacBook Pro (Retina, Mid 2012).

    Hi,
I may have noticed the same thing, (Should I be concerned about colors behind grey login screen at startup?). I called apple support and it appears that the screen background is "slightly visible" after the update. You can change your background and see if your ghosting image moves accordingly. The white bleed through in my images, happens to be from Earthdesk which displays a map as a background. You might be seeing a similar effect.

ipad won'tstaart up after installing an update.   Shows, itune icon and cord going tothe side.  Cant make it do anything else.

That means that you have to restore the de ice using iTunes on a computer. There is nothing else that you can do to fix it now and you cannot back it up now either. Connect the iPad to your computer and launch iTunes and restore the iPad.
IF you don't have a computer, find someone that has one running iTunes or go to an Apple Store and ask them to restore it for you.

  • Mail.app won't work properly after installing Yosemite

My "new viewer window" in Mail.app won't work after installing Yosemite. I can not access the viewer window and thus none of my email.
    How can I fix this?
    Mail.app v 8.0

some updates on this issue, Mail application uses the same proxy that has been set on your system (system preferences==>Network==>Advanced==>proxies). People usually use HTTP/HTTPS proxy for surfing the web. You should make sure to set SOCKS proxy as well. Mail application works with SOCKS proxy. Note that port number for SOCKS proxy is usually different from the port number for HTTP and HTTPS but the IP address of  your server (apparently) is the same.
    Hope this helps

  • Computer won't start up after installing iLife '09

My MacBook Pro is now stuck in a bricked mode after installing iLife '09.
    Install:
    1. The install went perfectly unlike some of the posts I have read.
    2. The installer asked me to register and I chose "later".
    3. The installer asked to restart to complete the process and I accepted.
    4. Then it restarted my machine and the progress spinner just sits there for five minutes...then the computer just shuts off cold.
    Fix Attempts:
    1. Tried restarting manually many times, but it keeps shutting itself off after five minutes of spinning.
    2. Tried zapping my P-Ram by restarting and holding down commandoption+pr a few times, but that didn't help.
    3. Restarted while holding down option to boot Windows XP. Windows booted successfully and then I restarted back in Mac mode, but that didn't help.
    4. I ejected the iLife '09 disc and unplugged the power chord and USB iPhone charger, just in case that has anything to do with the ghost in the machine, but that didn't help either.
I'm left trying to decide what to do. Going to the Genius bar does not appeal to me for various reasons.
Any one else out there experience this problem and get things running again??

Since I don't have the original install discs that came with my computer, I tried these things:
    1. Tried booting in Safe Mode by holding down the shift key at start up, but does not help.
    2. Booted in Single-User Mode by holding down command+s at start up. Then I get the fsck diagnostic by typing in "/sbin/fsck -fy".
Did that three times and get the same response:
    /dev/rdisk0s2
    Root file system
    Checking Journaled HFS Plus volume.
    Checking Extents Overflow.
    Checking Catalog file.
    disk0s2: I/O error.
    Invalid key length
    (4, 25236)
    Volume check failed.
/dev/rdisk0s2 (hfs) EXITED WITH SIGNAL 8
    :/ root#
Then I ran the command "df -hl" to see what the drive space looks like. Looks good enough:
    Filesystem root_device
    Size 80Gi
    Used 68Gi
    Avail 12Gi
    Capacity 86%
    Mounted on /
    Any ideas if this helps??
