Uttsc 'Illegal Option S' Oracle VDI 3.1

UPDATE: Solved.
Issue was with missing patches - We had removed the patch installation for SRSS and SRWC as part of the install process for VDA 3.2 as these produced errors when installing on Solaris 10 x86. Applied the patches and everything works as intended.
Hi Everyone,
Not sure if anyone else has come across this, but, I'm unable to establish RDP sessions to either Windows Terminal Server or XP Desktop using Oracle VDI 3.1 (Downloaded yesterday, all patches applied)
I'm seeing this logged for each uttsc session that attempts to start but I'm not sure what's passing the spurious - S option mentioned. Any hints would be appreciated!

  • Sun Ray error when connecting to Oracle VDI - No Kiosk Sessions Available

When the Sun Ray DTUs go to connect to the Oracle VDI cluster at times they will throw the error "Error starting Kiosk session: No Kiosk accounts configured." We have tried going through the steps to confirm that the Kiosk sessions are configured on the two secondary hosts but the problem persists. When the Sun Ray DTUs do connect they will work for a while and then when left idle for a period of time will loose their connection and be unable to restart the connection with the error mentioned. The Screen Blanking option on the Sun Ray DTUs is set to "0" to prevent them from going into power-save mode but this makes no difference. The Sun Ray DTUs are all updated with the latest GUI firmware and there are no custom options set in the Sun Ray Session Servers.
The thing that bothers me the most is I have not seen any error messages in the logs. I will post up the logs as links in a follow-up post.
Has anyone had any similar issues while connecting with a Sun Ray DTU?
Currently we are running Oracle VDI 3.2.1 on the cluster.
Here are the commands we used to reset the Sun Ray Kiosk accounts:
    # /opt/SUNWkio/bin/kioskstatus -c
    # /opt/SUNWkio/bin/kioskuseradm status
    # /opt/SUNWkio/bin/kioskuseradm delete
    # /opt/SUNWkio/bin/kioskuseradm create -l utku -g utkiosk -i auto -u –c

I have very hard time connecting to oracle from ssis package on windows server 2008. I am almost dead and cannot find any help. i was able to connect to oracle using import/export 64 bit feature of SQL Server 2008 using Oracle provider for OLEDB. But I am not sure why the same does not work with BIDS?
    Here's the environment info:
    1. Oracle Client 10g

Appreciate your help. Please save me.

  • Ora-02065:Illegal option for alter system.

    Hi Dba's,
I want to setup my database oracle 9i to use "FlashBack".
My database is running in archivelog mode.
First I've shutdown the DB and start it in mount mode.
    Then I tried:
    SQL> alter system set DB_FLASHBACK_RETENTION_TARGET=1800;
But it doesn't work, I always got the same error:
    ora-02065:illegal option for alter system.
I tried to connect as SYS,SYSTEM, everyone, the same error. The users must have FlashBack Privilege and Execute
    DBMS_FlashBack privileges. They're OK.
I don't know how to solve this problem?!
If someone could help me. Tks a lot.

  • ORA-02065: illegal option for ALTER SYSTEM with "_mutex_wait_scheme"

    Hello,
I have the Oracle version 11.2.0.2.0 in Windows. I'm trying to set starting parameter "_mutex_wait_scheme".
I am trying with the following command:
    ALTER SYSTEM SET "_mutex_wait_scheme" = 1 SCOPE = SPFILE;
But I have the following error:
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-02065: illegal option for ALTER SYSTEM
Could tell me what is the command that I use to change that parameter?
    Best regards!

    Hello,
The syntax you used is correct,
    alter system set "_MUTEX_WAIT_SCHEME" = 1 scope = spfile sid='*';
but it seems that there is a problem with this parameter in version 12.2.0.2
Check if you have installed patch 12431716
    %ORACLE_HOME%\Opatch\opatch lsinventory -all | find "12431716"
If it is not installed you can install the latest bundle patch (Windows Patch Bundle 27 - 11/2013) that should contain that fix.
    Regards
1588876 - Oracle Enhancement to add different "Mutex" wait schemes
This fix is included in 11.2.0.2.2 PSU but there is a problem with the parameters in that release. If using 11.2.0.2.2 PSU then it is advisable to get the patch for bug 12431716 to allow this fix to be controlled by the _mutex_* parameters as documented above.

  • Oracle VDI 3.3 Desktops being restarted when recycled

    Hi,
I have just upgraded to Oracle VDI 3.3.2, from 3.2.2. I use this in a lab situation where I can have high numbers of people logging on at once, using the machines for an hour or two, then all logging out again. I used to just set the Desktop Recycling Policy to "Reuse Desktop" and have the Cloned Desktops Machines State set to "Running" and this would leave all the desktops in such a state that they could be logged into by users from the following group. However since the upgrade I have noticed that the desktops are being restarted when they get recycled, this is a problem because if I have 130 desktops all being restarted at the same time it unlikely that they will all be ready, say if the turnaround slot is 10 minutes or so.
Is this by design, and if so with which release did this start happening. I can't find any mention of this in the documentation. Or am I just finding an oddity, in which case I will open an SR with Oracle.
This is a major problem for our useage scenario!
    Alastair

    Thanks Katell.
It doesn't work for me. What version are you using?
    # vda -V
Oracle Virtual Desktop Infrastructure 3.4.1 (Build 09)
    # vda pool-setprops -p desktop-shutdown-on-unassign=disabled Pool-WindowsXP
    Unknown property: desktop-shutdown-on-unassign=disabled.
And I can't see the option when I execute either
    # vda pool-setprops --help
    # vda pool-getprops -a Pool-WindowsXP
I've opened a SR with Oracle Support.

  • How to configure Solaris 10 IPMP for Oracle VDI 3.3.2

    Hi,
Does anyone have an indication on how to configure Solaris 10 IPMP in a manner that supports Oracle VDI?
We have setup two servers with 2 test addresses on physical and 1 logical for the hostname of the box, but when we configure VDI the VDI database does not come up on the 2nd box. We have also tried configuring IPMP without test addresses, but it doesn't make any difference - the DB still doesn't go into the up state after configuration on the 2nd server.
    Solaris 10 u9 with patches
Two physical NICs on management VLAN via 2 switches
Two physical NIcs on VDI VLAN via 2 switches
    VDI 3.3.2
All hostnames are in DNS and resolve for short name, FQDN and also reverse IP lookup
The is a proposal pdf on Oracle website that mentions IPMP, so someone has done it. Just could do with a hint on how it was done so that it works.
    Thanks
    Paul

OK, updating this with what was causing the issue.
Not an IPMP problem this was a DNS problem. The VDI servers have access to two DNS environments, so had a DNS search path that had the domain where the VMs where going to go and another for management of the box with two DNS servers listed in /etc/resolv.conf.
We configured VDI using the FQDN for the management DNS, however the vda-config script takes the hostname of the box adds the first DNS domain from /etc/resolv.conf search entry and configures using (it seams to ignore what you put into the vda-config). When the config script comes to configuring MySQL because the names didn't match (FQDN it created by adding hostname to the 1st entry in DNS search path & FQDN that you put into vda-config command), it decides that it is configuring a "Client MySQL" instance rather than a "Slave MySQL" instance, which means the VDA DB never comes up in the out of vda-center status.
    So the fix is to:
    1) configure IPMP without test addresses (so traffic comes out of the correct IP and can be reverse looked up in DNS by the other host)
    2) if you have multiple DNS search entries, configure VDI using the first entry in your search path as its FQDN

  • "In-Memory Database Cache" option for Oracle 10g Enterprise Edition

    Hi,
In one of our applications, we are using TimesTen 5.1.24 and Oracle 9i
    databases (platform - Solaris 9i).
TimesTen holds application information which needs to be accessed quickly
and Oracle 9i is a master application database.
Now we are looking at an option of migrating from Oracle 9i to Oracle 10g
database. While exploring about Oracle 10g features, came to know about
"In-Memory Database Cache" option for Oracle Enterprise Edition. This made
me to think about using Oracle 10g Enterprise Edition with "In-Memory
Database Cache" option for our application.
Following are the advantages that I could visualize by adopting the
    above-mentioned approach:
    1. Data reconciliation between Oracle and TimesTen is not required (i.e.
data can be maintained only in Oracle tables and for caching "In-Memory
    Database Cache" can be used)
    2. Data maintenance is easy and gives one view access to data
I have following queries regarding the above-mentioned solution:
    1. What is the difference between "TimesTen In-Memory Database" and
"In-Memory Database Cache" in terms of features and licensing model?
    2. Is "In-Memory Database Cache" option integrated with Oracle 10g
installable or a separate installable (i.e. TimesTen installable with only
    cache feature)?
    3. Is "In-Memory Database Cache" option same as that of "TimesTen Cache
Connect to Oracle" option in TimesTen In-Memory Database?
    4. After integrating "In-Memory Database Cache" option with Oracle 10g, data
access will happen only through Oracle sqlplus or OCI calls. Am I right here
    in making this statement?
    5. Is it possible to cache the result set of a join query in "In-Memory
    Database Cache"?
In "Options and Packs" chapter in Oracle documentation
    (http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/license.102/b14199/options.htm
#CIHJJBGA), I encountered the following statement:
"For the purposes of licensing Oracle In-Memory Database Cache, only the
processors on which the TimesTen In-Memory Database component of the
In-Memory Database Cache software is installed and/or running are counted
for the purpose of determining the number of licenses required."
We have servers with the following configuration. Is there a way to get the
count of processors on which the Cache software could be installed and/or
    running? Please assist.
Production box with 12 core 2 duo processors (24 cores)
Pre-production box with 8 core 2 duo processors (16 cores)
Development and test box with 2 single chip processors
Development and test box with 4 single chip processors
Development and test box with 6 single chip processors
    Thanks & Regards,
    Vijay

    Hi Vijay,
    regarding your questions:
    1. What is the difference between "TimesTen In-Memory Database" and
"In-Memory Database Cache" in terms of features and licensing model?
==> Product has just been renamed and integrated better with the Oracle database - Times-Ten == In-Memory-Cache-Database
    2. Is "In-Memory Database Cache" option integrated with Oracle 10g
installable or a separate installable (i.e. TimesTen installable with only
    cache feature)?
    ==> Seperate Installation
    3. Is "In-Memory Database Cache" option same as that of "TimesTen Cache
Connect to Oracle" option in TimesTen In-Memory Database?
    ==> Please have a look here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/products/timesten/quickstart/cc_qs_index.html
    This explains the differences.
    4. After integrating "In-Memory Database Cache" option with Oracle 10g, data
access will happen only through Oracle sqlplus or OCI calls. Am I right here
    in making this statement?
==> Please see above mentioned papers
    5. Is it possible to cache the result set of a join query in "In-Memory
    Database Cache"?
    ==> Again ... ;-)
    Kind regards
    Mike

  • How to install Procedural Option in Oracle 10g Database express edition

When i try execute exec send_mail shows error ORA-00900: invalid SQL statement.
Error code shows "This error can occur if the Procedural Option is not installed "
How to install Procedural Option in Oracle 10g express edition
I'm using Oracle 10g Database express edition. Let me know how to run a procedure.

I'm not sure of the meaning of ORA-00900 for Oracle XE but I think that PL/SQL is already installed by default according to the XE features list.
See the Oracle® Database Express Edition 2 Day Developer Guide about procedure call.

  • Rm: illegal option --M (terminal problems) - Empty Trash

I had some locked files. Couldn't delete them. Used sudo command in terminal to no avail. Used the 'unlock' file instructions from support page. Went into single-user mode, followed instructions. Blue screened at end. Rebooted. Was able to unlock file from desktop that was previously locked. Now I try to empty trash, but locked files won't go away.
I run terminal app (sudo command to empty trash) and get this error:
    rm: illegal option --M
    usage: rm [-f | -i] [-dPRrvW] file ...
    unlink file
Please help, not sure what to do at this stage.
    Thanks!

  • How to access Data Guard option in Oracle 10g OEM

    Hi All,
I have Oracle 10g ENTERPRISE EDITION on Unix envoirement. I want to setup logical standby Database through Data Guard technology. But when I brows through OEM I do not find Link for DATA GUARD????
    1) How to access Data Guard option from oracle 10g OEM.
    2) Does It come with Enterprise Edition OR I have to install it separately.
    Regards,
    Darshan

I am managing almost everything through EM Grid Control. It is easy to setup and configure.
Anyways, if you have read the documentation on
Oracle® Data Guard Concepts and Administration and setup your environment accordingly then you should not have any problems. Atleast I can assure you that your production database will not be affected by it.
Just make sure that you follow each step and read thoroughly. If you have spare machines then you can test and record your configuration before performing it on your production db. This link will provide you with the information on DataGuard.
    http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14239/concepts.htm
If you think that way then you will never be able to do any new stuff since you will always fear that something might go wrong. Go ahead pal, try it on test machines and you will know that it is not that difficult.
There are real experts who help people like us in this forum and I know that they are doing a pretty good job.
    All the best.

  • Porblem to install oracle datamining option in oracle 10g R2

    Hello,
I am having some problem of installing DATA MINING option on oracle 10g R2.
After installing the database I am trying to configure it through DBCA but "DATA MINING" check box is always showing disabled.
I also tried it in different ways.
    ..............1) With Oracle Base Installation.
    2) With Oracle Advanced Installation.(choosing the datamining options)
    Please help me.
    Thanks.

Oracle Data Mining option is installed by default when you create a pre-configured 10gR2 database. You may issue the following SQL statements as SYS to verify the ODM installation:
    SQL>connect / as sysdba;
    SQL>select comp_id, version, status from dba_registry where comp_id = 'ODM';
    SQL>select * from v$option where parameter = 'Data Mining';
For detailed instruction of ODM installation, refer to the following documentation:
    http://st-doc.us.oracle.com/10/102/datamine.102/b14338.pdf
