UWL application in Webdynpro Java

Hi
I have a requirement where I need to replicate the standard SAP UWL feature in a custom Webdynpro Java component.
The Webdynpro Java component will be a custom screen which will have all the features of the standard UWL.
When the users launch the Webdynpro application, he should be able to see all the notifications in his inbox and when he clicks on a particular task in his inbox, the task should perform the same things that it does when opened from UWL application. It should be able to trigger webservices or launch UI related to BPM processes.
Please provide your suggestions on this.

Hi Sayan,
UWL apis will provide you the methods and interfaces to replicate the similar behavior of standard SAP UWL. You can read more about [UWL API|http://help.sap.com/javadocs/NW04S/SPS09/uw/index.html].
Make sure that UWL services are started in Portal.

How to close current window of webdynpro application using webdynpro java

Hi All,

if i using exit plug its giving the following error in portal runtime.
u201Ccom.sap.tc.webdynpro.services.exceptions.WDRuntimeException: Exit-Plug must no be triggered with an URL when running in portal. Use portal navigation instead to navigate to another application! u201C .
could you send me the process how to use portal navigation for the above scenariou2026u2026instead of exitplug.

Follow the steps below:
1. Create a new Window and embed a View which needs to be opened from the main view.
2. Create a context attribute of type IWDWindow (Java Native Type Option)
3. Write the following code in the controller for opening the new window:
IWDWindowInfo windowInfo = (IWDWindowInfo)
wdComponentAPI.getComponentInfo().findInWindows("<windowname>");
IWDWindow window = wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager().createModalWindow(windowInfo);
wdContext.currentContextElement().set<contextattributename>(window);
window.show();
4. In the new window, create a contextattribute and bind it to the attribute created in controller and on action of the close button write the following code:
IWDWindow window = wdContext.currentContextElement().get<attributename>();
window.destroyInstance();

Dear Ajay,
Assuming that both your applications WDA & WDJ are in the portal & you don't have to pass any parameters to the WDJ application.
Write the following code on the action where you would call the WDJ application.
DATA:
        lr_compcontroller TYPE REF TO ig_componentcontroller,
        l_component TYPE REF TO if_wd_component ,
        lr_port_manager TYPE REF TO if_wd_portal_integration ,
        wa_navigation TYPE navigation.
lr_compcontroller =   wd_this->get_componentcontroller_ctr( ).
l_component = lr_compcontroller->wd_get_api( ).
lr_port_manager = l_component->get_portal_manager( ) .
* The value inserted into the navigation-target field can be found in the Portal
* content administration tab of your portal. It is the ID or PCD Location field
wa_navigation-target = pcd. " Please provide the PCD Location of the WDJ Application here.
wa_navigation-mode   = '0'. "0 = INTERNAL(same page) and 1 = EXTERNAL(new page).
CALL METHOD lr_port_manager->navigate_absolute
    EXPORTING
      navigation_target = wa_navigation-target
      navigation_mode   = wa_navigation-mode.
You can get the PCD from the Page properties of the WDJ application page in the Portal.

MSS ECM - how to retrieve custom OADP column in Webdynpro java application

Great day to all,
We have created custom OADP column for MSS ECM planning in SPRO.
In Portal, ECM Plan Table, the column is visible. User enters values into that and toggles the tabstrip.
Before submitting, i need to capture that value in Webdynpro java.
My Question is,
How can i make use of that column in my ECM Application using webdynpro java??
or how can i retrieve the custom OADP columns in webdynpro java with out using RFC??

In OADP ,there are two types of columns , functional column which cannot be edited in web dynpro java application and another type is application column which can be edited in application and the value of this column is handled in application using rfc enabled function module. MSS ECM comes with certain application column whose values are handled in MSS-ECM application . If you are trying to add custom application column you will have to handle that column value in your Z function module and also at OADP level you should not configure supply function for that column.
In order to call custom Z function module to handle custom application column I would suggest to create a seperate Software component and development component and in that handle the logic for calling Z Function module. Also you will have to define the usage of custom Development component in the MES-ECM standard component.

Session expired application Webdynpro java

HI:
I am developing an application in WebDynpro Java (J2EE Engine 7.0), which does not run in the portal but is simply displayed on the WAS server.
The problem is I need to catch the exception from the code to not get the error 500: session expired.
I can not change the session time from the properties of the application because it is a customer requirement with 15 minutes session expires.
How I can resolve this?

I've been reading the note and I have a question.
To change the error page, it is in the web.xml, for example:

</error-page>
With this code if I have a 500 error, will launch the jsp (500.jsp).
my question is: where I have the web.xml?
Do I have to develop a J2EE aplicaion or is directly in my WebDynpro application or is on the server?

Hi Pavan,
I have done one sample application using workflow. I am able to create the task in UWL from my webdynpro java aplciation, it is a simple form to create a task in UWL.
I am facing an issue when press Approve or reject in UWL it is giving me an exception "Exception type:com.sap.netweaver.bc.uwl.connect.ConnectorException Message".
I have configured AdHocWorkflowConnector still it is giving me the same error.
Could you please provide me the solution to resolve this?

Welcome to the Adobe arena..!
Well how familer are you with Web Dynpro...?
I can explain the procedue at a higher level, for a detailed step by step example you can check in NWDS help or couple of blogs here.
Adobe component in web dynpro is like any other ui Component to your view.
when you add this component you need to specify the WDJ view's context (this can be from a node level not only entire context) to this component's data source.
once both are done when you click on the component in the view it will navigate to ADLC (adobe live cycle designer) where you can design your form.
Remember that you specified the WDJ vie'ws context as data source to this component, thus in the ADLC you will see this context in the data view which would carry your data from wdj view to this form.
Again here similar to WDJ what ever you set to this context would flow tru and backwards.
try with this approach and on a simple scenario followed by some bolgs here.

I put in the file configuration.properties :
stylesheet.inputfiled.backgroundcolor = #FF0000 and this working properly
but for the elements
stylesheet.dropdownbyindex.backgroundcolor=\#FF0000 NOT WORKING properly
Is there a way to just change the color to a concrete and not all of that kind?

Lauching webdynpro java application

hi gurus
our scenario is like this..
when employee fills the educational assistance form (customized webdynpro java application) and clicks on the submit button , it should go for approval..while manager opens the workitem it should lauch the same WD form in display mode with approve and reject button. and when he approves ..it should update the data base & it should sends a intimation mail to the employee that his application has been approved...
MY QUESTIONS :
1) how to trigger a event from WD java application to start this workflow ...
2) how the values can be passed from WD application container to workflow container .i got some ideas by reading some forums for this i want to use SAP_WAPI_READ_CONTAINER , where i want to use this function module
3) it is better to use the user decision step for the approval process ? . if i am using this then i want to send the form as a attachment in user decision step, how it can be achieved ?
4)what all r the other settings i want to maintain .

I would definitely prefer to open a form with "Approve" and "Reject" buttons instead of having it as an attachment in a user decision step. Especially if it is a application where a user never approves without opening the attachment. For example i may not prefer to approve a leave requisition without viewing it! In that case it will just be an overhead for the user to open the form manually everytime before approving. So make a decision on this based on the use of your application.
Moreover it is not that tough either (atleast from a workflow perspective) to launch the webdynpro from UWL. Create a custom task and create appropriate entries in transaction SWFVISU (hope you are on or above ECC 5.0) to link your task and WD application. Thats it your application should be ready and shud be launched from UWL.
But definitely in a custom application your webdynpro developers need to do a lot of work (as we did one in our previous projects) irrespective of whether it is launched directly as a task or as an attachment.
Performacewise providing "Approve" and "Reject" will just increase one RFC call from your application (to complete your workitem).

Opening sap transaction in uwl to webdynpro java screen

Hi Poral Gurus
I am new to uwl concept . we are in the process of the Leave apply and approval . the work items are displayed in the sbwp
which comes in uwl . when we click on the item in work list it is opening the sap transaction, but the requirement is there any way to convert the sap transaction view to the webdypro java screen . the screen should not no way look like the sap transaction but it should look like which is developed in webdynpro java using nwds
The problem here is the work item is opening the sap logon when an work item is being clicked and the screen also is not exactly what we look in sbwp. it is having a different look. the screen is becomming small where the user has to use scroll bars to navigate to particular input element,but in sbwp it is showing the full screen.
Please help on this is there any way to solve this problem.

Hi,
Let us know whether you are using the standard Leave request application with standard workflow or customized screen.
If you are using Custom development for the approval screen, then Make sure that you have mapped your custom development screen to the workflow task in SWFVISU.
Then Re-register the UWL system in portal which is available in the below location.
System administration - system configuration - universal worklist and workflow u2013 universal worklist administration - Universal worklist systems - re-register the workflow system.

First check is Java stack is running ?
make sure J2EE_ADMIN user not locked.
Ans please check password in secure area. check password in secure store should be correct.

Passing Parameters via Post Method from Webdynpro Java to a web application

Hello Experts,
I want to pass few parameters from a web dynpro application to an external web application.
In order to achieve this, I am referring to the below thread:

As mentioned in the thread, I am trying to create an additional Suspend Plug parameter (besides 'Url' of type String) with name 'postParams' and of type Map.
But when I build my DC, I am getting the same error which most of the people in the thread have mentioned:
Controller XXXCompInterfaceView [Suspend]: Outbound plug (of type 'Suspend') 'Suspend' may have at most two parameters: 'Url' of type 'string' and 'postParams' of type 'Map'.
I am using SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio Version: 7.01.00
Kindly suggest if this is the NWDS version issue or is it something else that I am missing out.
Also, if it is the NWDS version issue please let me know the NWDS version that I can use to avoid this error.
Any other suggestion/alternative approach to pass the parameters via POST method from webdynpro java to an external web application apart from the one which is mentioned in the above thread is most welcome.

This is purely a java approach, even you can try this for your requirement.
There are two types of http calls synchronous call or Asynchronous call. So you have to choose the way to pass parameters in post method based on the http call.
if it is synchronous means, collect all the values from users/parameters using UI element eg: form and pass all the values via form to the next page is nothing but your web application url.
If it is Asynchronous means, write a http client in java and integrate the same with your custom code and you can find an option for sending parameters in post method.

How to Consume a WSDL file in Webdynpro JAVA Application 7.30

Hi Experts,
My requirement is,I have a wsdl file(Provided by the SAP PI) which i need to consume in Webdynpro Java 7.3(NWDS 7.30).
I has been tried in the follwing way
1.First click on the Model --> Adaptive Web Service Model -->Model Name--Package Name
2.Choose Remote Location/File System.
3.After that choose the WSDL file from my project which i added earlier.
4.After that I get the node in the context menu.But I am uneble to set some data into the node and also uneble to get data data from the node
After deploying my project I get the following error.

Hi Amit,
Create provider system in NWA -> SOA management -> System Connections. After ping is successful go to NWA -> Application Communication and select your DC and assign the provide system for your service configuration group.
I hope it will works fine as we also did the same.

Creating Packages and Namespace for Webdynpro Java applications in NWDS

Hi Experts,
I am working on a stand alone application and using NWDS for the same. This application consist of some Webdynpro Java apps, Dictionary perspective DC's and BPM applications.
I need to create a package and name space for all the applications. I have read some documents on creating SC in SLD and using it in NWDI. But since I am working on NWDS i am not able to see the SC.
May be I am not following a correct procedure. Can some one provide a basic document or can tell me steps in short that i need to follow, for Name space and package creation and how to use them in NWDS.
I am working on CE7.1 ehp1.
