UWL Setup

Hi,
We currently have our UWL running fine. Our UWL is used for leave approval and training approval which is based on java webdynpro. We are currently in the midst of development for processes and forms. We would like to create a separate UWL assigned only to certain admin users (only the related task in the XML file). This however is in abap webdynpro. How can i create this second new UWL? Thanks

Hello,
If you are creating a second 'Universal Worklist' in ABAP Web Dynpro, the XML files in the UWL Administration or indeed any UWL configuration in the portal will not be relevant. The ABAP WD will be a standalone application on the abap stack and it will not be possible to integrate any of the standard UWL functionality (easily anyway). It does not make any sense to create this in ABAP WD.

  • UWL system creation error?

    Hi,
    I'm trying to setup UWL configuration for ESS/MSS.  During minimal configuration of UWL setup, I'm assigning one of the system alias which is connecting to the R3 system using SAPLogonTicket method.  We got same uid maintained in portal and ECC6.
    I defined UWL system and when I clicked on Register button, I get below message
    (Connector) :com.sap.netweaver.bc.uwl.connect.ConnectorException:
    (Connector) :com.sap.portal.connectivity.destinations.PortalDestinationsServiceException:User is missing credentials for connecting to alias UWL_System. Contact your system administrator.
    OK, then I wanted to test the connection of system object that is used by UWL. WebAS, ITS connection tests are successfully, but "Test connection with connector" failed with below error
    Test Connection with Connector
      Test Details:
    The test consists of the following steps:
    1. Retrieve the default alias of the system
    2. Check the connection to the backend application using the connector defined in this system object
      Results
    Retrieval of default alias successful
    Connection failed. Make sure that Single Sign-On is configured correctly
    As suggested in this thread which was posted  by me sometime ago
    Standard UWL configuration error?
    I tried to use System Administrator >> Support >> SAP Transaction >> choose the system aliase that is used for UWL and entered SU01 tcode, it pops with windows for UID/PWD, why is this happening even when all the parameters are correctly defined in System object?
    Thanks

    Hi Geet,
    I still have no luck.  I tried exactly what you said and followed all notes.  Here are the steps that I followed and error message
    1) UWL_Service user didn't exist in the R3, so created and assigned roles that are required as you mentioned and as mentioned in note 873932, 1109225, 1133821, 1171615.
    2) Set up RFC destination in Visual admin and binded to the UWL_Service user for system_alias$WebFlowConnector.  In my case the system alise is SAP_ECC_HumanResources.
    3) Restarted the server.
    4) Configured new UWL system with SAP_ECC_HumanResources system alise.  Click register button I got below error
    Error in retrieving logical system id for system SAP_ECC_HumanResources:

  • Portal Landscape - ECC

    Hi all,
    Our Client Plans to have the Separate Portal for LSO,Erec and XSS(ESS,MSS) and Backend will be only one instance
    When we have Individual portal how the UWL Should be planned to setup.
    We are planning to setup a single UWL.In this Case will  workitems of LSO works in XSS ?How UWL setup has to be done.
    Please share your experience.
    Client wants to have separate portal due to support packs and Upgrade..they go for ugrade individually..
    Thanks,
    Nachy

    UWL pulls data from ECC using a XML..
    This XML is auto generated based on configured system (which points to ECC).
    Now in your case...
    You have 1 ECC instance
    and 3 portal instance...i.e. EP1, EP2, EP3
    Now Because system registration will be same in all EP1, EP2, EP3 for UWL...because there is only 1 ECC system...
    terefore to separate tasks that belong to
    LSO - EP1
    Erec - EP2
    XSS(ESS,MSS) - EP3
    you will have to edit the XML as per your requirements.
    i.e. in EP1 XML configuration for UWL should only contain Tasks specific to LSO
    in EP2 XML configuration for UWL should only contain Tasks specific to Erec
    in EP3 XML configuration for UWL should only contain Tasks specific to ESS/MSS
    This is what i believe should happen in your case...I hope experts comment on the same...........

  • Setup the UWL to open the tasks in the right application defined in SWFVISU

    Hello!
    I'm trying to set up the UWL to open the tasks defined in transaction SWFVISO, and I'm kind of stuck, so I hope you can help me.
    When I open an item, I get the the following error:

    What happened?

    Whats really bothering me, is that the application I want to execute the Work Item at, is Web Dynpro for Java?
    When the UWL connector is defined, you define ITS and/or WAS to launch back-end task handlers. The decision of which is selected, is defined in SWFVISU, where you select Web Dynpro JAVA - in my case. (please do correct me if i'm wrong)
    Then I dont understand why it tries to use ITS?
    Regards
    Lasse

    Part of the issue was that the XML was not generated automatically - the solution for this was due to a change in SP18.
    See this post for the solution: SWFVISU task not appearing in any of the UWL Config files

  • Unable to view new tasks in the UWL

    Hi all,
    I am using EP 7.0 SP8 and backend R/3 4.6C. I  configured by Worklist and work items to my UWL with the backend .My Problem is I am unable to view the New OR  in Progress Tasks in the UWL but  i am able to view the completed tasks in the UWL.
    Is the Problem with the backend R/3 version or some thing else?
    Please help me..
    Thanks and Regards,
    Sateesh.

    Hi,
    Check whether the release rule you are running has the option Auto Allocate (Inventory Tab) is YES.
    If it has NO then you have to run the Move Order Pick slip program with auto allocate move orders as YES and order types as pick wave for material allocation to happen.
    once material is allocated you should be able to view them in WCB atleast.
    After you find them in WCB but not on telnet then check you resource and device setup.

  • J2EE Restart Causes Error in UWL Substitution

    Hi Experts,
    We have an unusually problem that we are having a hard time tracking down. We are on NW 7.0 EhnP 0 SP19 and are using the UWL with the substitution active. It worked fine after being setup; UWL users were able to create a substitution with the "successful" link to our Alias. If J2EE is restarted, then the same users get a message that there is a problem with their substitution. The user has to click on the Turn Off button, click on the problem link, click OK, then click on the problem link, then click on the Retry button. At that point, the link turns to successful for the user and for ALL OTHER users on the portal using UWL with a substitution.
    I have searched SDN for anything similar to this but have not run across this issue in any other forum posts. Incidentally, we have done everything in note 1133821 which is how we got it to work in the first place.
    Any help would be appreciated or if you have seen this in a post before, the link to that post would be appreciated also. Anyone run into this problem?
    We will be opening an OSS note about this also.
    Thank you,
    Mark.

    Hi Christian
    It seems that the par file  com.sap.netweaver.bc.uwl.ui has not been deployed properly.
    As a workaround, kindly check the deployment by navigating to :
    \usr\sap\<sid>\<instance-id>\j2ee\cluster\server0\apps\sap.
    com\irj\servlet_jsp\irj\root\WEB-INF\deployment\pcd and \pcdContent
    If you find any files with .err extension there, kindly remove the .err
    extension and add .bak extension.
    Then restart the J2EE engine.
    Hope it will work !!

  • Tasks are not appearing in UWL

    Hi All,
    When i am accessing UWL application in portal we are getting warning  "cannot Connect to Provider".
    I did connection test of the system object and the connector is working fine (using SAP Logon Tickets). When checking the UWL log I have found the following messages:
    "Problem in calling BWF API to retrieve inbox items in system
    SAP_ECC_HumanResources"."com.sap.portal.connectivity.ConnectivityRuntimeException: No more storage to append internal table".
    Please help me on this.'
    Thanks,
    Ravi.

    Dear Ravi
    I hope you are well and many thanks for using the SAP Discussion Forums.
    In relation to the scenario that you have described you mentioned the following:
    When you are accessing the UWL application in portal you are getting the warning  "cannot Connect to Provider You performed a connection test of the system object and the connector is working fine (using SAP Logon Tickets).
    When checking the UWL log you have found the following messages:
    "Problem in calling BWF API to retrieve inbox items in system SAP_ECC_HumanResources"."com.sap.portal.connectivity.ConnectivityRuntimeException: No more storage to append internal table".
    Ok now in relation to the issue that you have described there are a few important points to highlight. The UWL follows and works from the concept off the UWL Destination Service Configuration.
    Now although you mentioned the configurations are setup accordingly. I would like you to kindly review the UWL Destination Service Configuration as the smallest discrepancy maintained can cause unpredictable and unexpected behaviour.
    SAP Note: Note 1133821 - UWL Destination Service configuration
    When you followed and implemented SAP Note 1133821 - UWL Destination Service Configuration we need to make sure that connector names and also destination names match exactly (Case Sensitive).Example: I mean if your portal system alias (=UWL connector name) is for example XYZCLNT100, then the rfc destination name should be exactly XYZCLNT100$WebFlowConnector. After checking this and if you make any configuration changes
    Clear the UWL Cache
    Restart the UWL Service (during a period of downtime/low usage levels)
    Let me provide a little more clarification regarding the importance of a correct UWL destination setup: The UWL works using two Pull operations. Firstly tasks are pulled from the backend into the UWL cache and they are then pulled a second time from the cache into the UWL User Interface. Due to this architecture there is an inherent delay in the automatic refresh's
    of the UWL. There is no way, in the current architecture that the UWL can refresh instantaneously.
    This is upon inital load as the cache must be built first upon logon.
    So getting back to this error that you are encountering "Cannot connect to the provider". From a general troubleshooting and overview analysis guide I would like to point you in the direction of the following guideline link:
    (UWL)Error message while trying to connect to provider
    http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/TechTSG/(UWL)Error+message+while+trying+to+connect+to+provider
    Now to be more focused in our investigation let us seperate your two log findings.
    The first of which relates to:
    Problem in calling BWF API to retrieve inbox items in system SAP_ECC_HumanResources".
    Regarding the exception above did you attempt to recreate any system objects to see if that resolved the issue? Also kindly ensure your authorizations are configured correctly.
    Secondly
    "com.sap.portal.connectivity.ConnectivityRuntimeException: No more storage to append internal table".
    I would like you to review the following documentation:
    KBA number: 1577547 UWL Performance Tips and Considerations
    Also, you may want to take a look at our sizing guide that our colleagues colleagues in development support have written in relation to the UWL. You can find the document under this path: www.service.sap.com/sizing  > sizing guidelines ' SAP NetWeaver   > UWL Sizing guide
    These are details that you need in order for the performance to be optimal in the Universal Worklist.  Please check through the documentation to see if your parameters are set accordingly and also that you have followed the information in this document.
    Kindly update me as per your findings.
    Kind Regards
    Troy Cronin - Enterprise Portal Support Engineer.

    Hi All,
    In such cases, please try to check as below :
    1) Create Leave request work item from Employee and check the same under the UWL Tracking tab of employee.
    2) Log-in to swi5 transaction of the respective back end system and give "US" -> manager's UserID -> Choose Tasks to be completed from the drop down -> Remove any date if mentioned -> Execute.
    3) Here if you can see the Leave request created, but not on the portal, it reflects some portal issue like sync.
    4) If no leave request work item is seen here, then there is a problem in the employee manager mapping or the workflow setup.
    5) In such cases, you can try to check the Swi1 and check the log of that workflow to understand the current status of the Leave request.
    Revert if further help is needed with more info.
    Reward points if found useful.

  • UWL Substitution not working

    Dear all,
    We have a problem with UWL Substitutions. We have a backend SRM 7.0 system and the users are trying to do substitutions with the option 'Receive my tasks'. When they do this, the substitutes do not receive all the tasks, but only 4 of them.
    We check the SWWUSERWI table and we see 30 tasks assigned to the 'boss' and only 4 of them assigned to the 'delegate'.
    We have also checked that HRUS_D2 table is correctly updated with the substitution.
    Do you know why the tasks are not being updated with the UWL Substitution?
    Is there a way to manually update SWWUSERWI with substitutions rules?
    Thanks in advance and regards,
    Sergio Martinez

    Hi Manchari
    I hope you are well and many thanks for using the SAP Discussion Forums .
    In relation to the scenario that you have described you mentioned wanting to restrict the external users being displayed for Substitution in Internal Portal. You have setup the UME property and People Renderer Profile, Trusted Attributes settings as per the documentation.
    Now in relation to the above could you kindly confirm that after making these changes did you perform the following:
    Clear the UWL Cache
    Restart the UWL Service
    Now regarding the document you referenced this is the official way that we recommend customers to restrict the people picker.  Unfortunately there really isn't another supported way to achieve this.  We just read all users back from the UME/LDAP, etc.  However, the solution in the blog was signed off by our development team as an achieveable way to restrict the people picker so long as KMC is running on the portal.
    http://wiki.scn.sap.com/wiki/display/BPX/Enhancements+to+the+Universal+Worklist+People+Picker
    In NW 7.01 the people picker functionality is provided by a KM component that supports company related functionality. In NW 7.30 UWL no longer uses KM PP. Instead it uses native PP that lacks company related features.
    Kindly ensure the configurations as per the documentation are configured and setup correctly as the smallest discrepancy may be causing this undesired behaviour:

  • Blank header appears when validating  leave request from the UWL

    Hello,
    We are using SAP Portal 7.3 and BP_ERP5MSS 1.51 SP06 according note oss 1618269 with a backend ECC6 EHP5 SPS06.
    We are facing the following issue :: "Leave Request Approval screen is poping with blank header".
    This  issue occurs when launching the task TS21500003 from the UWL of the manager trying to validate a leave request.
    See these screenshots,
    [http://s14.postimage.org/dponkbsoh/UWL_issue_1.jpg]
    [http://s9.postimage.org/7si0vfa7j/UWL_issue_2.jpg]
    From NWA and Log traces we can find, but it is not sure it is relevant (due to some other iview not set yet) :
    error : "Item with external id :<000000005010> and system id: <SAP_UWL >: Problem in performing action <markAsLaunched>: Unknown action: <markAsLaunched>-"
    warning : "com.sap.security.api.NoSuchUserException: The given id " "is not a unique id of a user!"
    We tried to follow some recommandations :
    - Tx SWFVISU / Task TS21500003
    - DYNPARAM = LRF_REQUEST_ID=${item.REQUESTID}
    - and from portal : "Universal Worklist - Administration" / "my system alias" / Re-Register
    - and clear cache
    => without success.
    we tried :
    - role : SAP_MANAGER_MSS_NWBC and SAP_ALL
    - we assigned this role or this profile at our user test
    => without success.
    we find :
    - Note 1600953 : Modifications to UWL configuration file in BP MSS Add-On 1.0
    => but we didn't setup this Add-On, so we think this note is not relevant for us.
    to investigate :
    We have also tried to copy and past the XML indicated in note 1600953 for task TS21500003 and it did not solve the issue. We then came back to our initial XML.
    We have configured the SAP_WebDynpro_XSS as indicated but we still face he same issue :
    - when trying to open the task in the UWL, a pop up with a blank header opens.
    - when using the iview com.sap.pct.erp.mss.leave_request_approval, the system opens directly a leave request without showing the list of requests assigned to the manager.
    Find step by step in this word document and the UWL information trace :
    http://www.filedropper.com/issueuwl20120217
    Thanks in advance for your help,

  • Standard Behaviour of Due Date in UWL for SRM Workitems

    We have a deployment of Enterprise Portal which is integrated to SAP SRM (7.02). I have two  queries regarding the standard behaviour of "Due Date" column in UWL:
    1. The column always displays today as the due date for all shopping carts, irrespective of delviery date. I would like to know whether this is an issue and also would be helpful if you elaborate on how is this calculated.
    2. The column is showing blank for any workitems other than shopping carts (Purchase Order change workitem, User change approvals, Invoice approvals etc.)
    Thanks

    Dear ArulPrakash
    I hope you are well and many thanks for using the SAP Discussion Forums .
    With reference to the scenario that you have described you mentioned the following:
    You have a deployment of Enterprise Portal which is integrated to SAP SRM (7.02). You have two  queries regarding the standard behaviour of "Due Date" column in UWL:
    The column always displays today as the due date for all shopping carts, irrespective of delviery date. You would like to know whether this is an issue and also would be helpful if you elaborate on how is this calculated.
    The column is showing blank for any workitems other than shopping carts (Purchase Order change workitem, User change approvals, Invoice approvals etc.)
    Ok regarding your queries kindly let me attempt to provide some clarification and oversight.
    Firstly in terms of the column and the fact it displays todays date as the due date (irrespective of the actual delivery date).  Now from a broad level overview perspective it is possible to change the display of the due date in the UWL.  In the standard xml file you will see the following: <DisplayAttribute name="dueDate" type="date" width="" sortable="yes" format="medium" referenceBundle="due_date" hAlign="LEFT" vAlign="BASELINE" maxTextWidth="0" headerVisible="yes"/> The medium format refers to the output of the field displaying the date as follows: Jun 01, 2014. The short format refers to the output of the field displaying the date as follows: 06/01/14.The long format refers to the output of the field displaying the date as follows: June 01, 2014. The full format refers to the output of the field displaying the date as follows: Tuesday, June 01, 2014. I've attached some reference documentation below for further reference on both your queries.
    Secondly regarding the blank columns for workitems. Here the first thing which needs to be ensured is that SAP Note: 1133821 - UWL Destination Service configuration is followed and setup accordingly in terms of configuration settings and parameters. Now you mention that this is occuring for another other item other than shopping carts? Are custom attributes involed here? Could you please have a look at the help document below to check the bahavior of retrieving custom attributes in UWL? http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/ef/f2aed99c414f81adacc6b897a6910a/content.htm

  • Calling a BSP App from the UWL - What is required?

    Hello,
    We are trying to call a BSP application using workflow from the UWL. We are using ECC5.0(ERP2004) and EP6.0.
    I have setup a Std Task to call method EXTSRV:PROCESS and in the task container I have the parameters that the BSP is expecting.
    I have set the task as BSP_Standard is transaction SWFVISU. The visulisation parameters I have set as follows:
    APP_PATH:      sap/bc/bsp/sap/yfi_aa_b_req
    CONFIRM:
    SYSTEM_ALIAS:  SAP_R3_Financials
    I could not find any documentation on what these parameters should be so I have taken an educated guess.
    The current configuration opens the HTML SAPGui with a generic screen stating that the workitem is in process, but there is no sign of the BSP application
    I need to confirm that there is no other Portal Content Directory configuration required with respect to the Launcher/Handler in the portal.
    Also that the setting for the visualisation parameters are correct:
    Eg.
    APP_PATH "Complete path to the BSP Application"
    CONFIRM "Flag to show a confirm end of step button"
    SYSTEM_ALIAS "The ECC System alias defined in the portal"
    Yor help would be appreciated.

    Sorry for the tardy reply, we were swamped by a deadline and I have only had a chance to re-surface in SDN.
    Here is an example of the UWL XML config:
        <ItemType name="uwl.task.webflow.TS90000117.SAP_R3_Financials" connector="WebFlowConnector" defaultView="DefaultView" defaultAction="launchWSHanlder" executionMode="pessimistic">
          <ItemTypeCriteria systemId="SAP_R3_Financials" externalType="TS90000117" connector="WebFlowConnector"/>
          <Actions>
            <Action name="launchWSHanlder" groupAction="" handler="XhandlerLauncher" returnToDetailViewAllowed="yes" launchInNewWindow="yes">
              <Properties>
                <Property name="webservice_url" value="http://ssisapd3.app.govnet.qld.gov.au:8040/sap/bc/webflow/wshandler"/>
                <Property name="sap-client" value="110"/>
                <Property name="display_order_priority" value="5"/>
              </Properties>
              <Descriptions default=""/>
            </Action>
          </Actions>
        </ItemType>
    Hope this helps. As mentioned you have probably worked it out yourself now.
    That Callback URL was very important for sending the terminating event back to R/3.

  • Calling a Java WebDynPro App without SWFVISU setup

    Hi Workflow gurus,
    Good day!
    I am currently studying an implementation for a clock in clock out solution for ESS/MSS wherein the workflow task is calling a transaction directly from the backend when accessed via the UWL. However, when invoked, instead of showing the standard screen from ECC, a java web dynpro application is being called. I checked with the set up in SWFVISU and none was maintained for the task.
    Now I would like to check if there is any other way of calling a java web dynpro application even without the SWFVISU setup. If my understanding is correct, this config creates the necessary xml files so that the UWL can call an existing Java dynpro
    Regards,

    Hi,
    You don't need SWFVISU for calling Java Web Dynpro application. You can configure everything by doing the necessary XML configuration in Portal. SWFVISU is only to help to make the XML configurations - if you have configured the task in SWFVISU, Portal can create automatically the XML configuration for a task. (SWFVISU has some other purposes too, but they are not relevant in your case.)
    In other words, you can manipulate the XML configuration directly in Portal.
