V. 7 DELETED my music

Ok, I know there are alot of threads going on, and I was reading this one:

But since it's locked, I can't ask my question. Last night I installed 7.0, dragged over my downloads folder (with at least 5,000 songs in it), and let them load in iTunes. I came back to discover only about 1,000 songs showed up. I went to the folder, and my files were GONE. I searched my computer for songs I knew I had in there, and they weren't found anywhere.
I'm really afraid to do anything now, since I don't want to lose the rest of my music. I'm trying to back it up now on CDs, but it's kind of complicated, and plus I have about 5,000 it hasn't deleted yet. I was going to try the instructions in the post I just posted the link to, but there is only one file under "previous itunes library", and that's the one from last night, with only a fraction of my songs. If I use that file, will I still be able to get my other songs back?
Is there any way my songs are still on my computer and I just can't find them? (I have my computere set to show hidden folders and files.) Has anyone tried anything to get all their deleted music back? Everyone seems to be saying that iTunes 6 works better for sound quality, but no one has really said if all their files reappeared. Please please help. Thanks.
PS - Does anyone know if Apple is going to do anything about our lost music? Like uh, give us a million iTunes cards?

I'm afraid it sounds like your music is gone! Even more so if you say you can't find it. A bit*h I know! Apple would never reimburse anyone for lost music for the simple fact that it's up to the owner to back up their purchases. As iTunes warns you when you've purchased abd downloaded songs.
I lost all my music on my PC a few months back, fortunately I could get them all back from off my iPod (if you don't have one - get one! Or any other model that's on the market, or even an external HD, just to keep them all safe. Easier than burning hundreds of DVDs!).
Other thing I suggest is to uninstall v7.0 and reinstall v6.0.5. At least until all the problems have been fixed. If you don't have the install file you can download it from http://www.filehippo.com/download_itunes/?1249

What happens when you try to change the Shuffle's name from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes?

Im trying to import music from widows media player to itunes, but when i delete the music from media player itunes can no longer locate it, i just want the music saved to itunes so its not taking up double the space.

Newbie here,hi. My 5th gen ipod decided to delete all my music? my laptop decided to delete all music i had too at same time,now it won't let me remove bonjour in order to re-enstate itunes and get all my musis back on ipod. Ipod working ok for radio etc.

Can anyone help with removing bonjour from my laptop so i can start again with itunes. All music gone from ipod,no idea why and itunes deleted all music from there too but won't let me uninstall bojour so cannot update itunes or even use it. Please help,only had ipod just over 1 year and am missing it. Thanks in the hope you can help me.

No. iTunes will first erase everything from another computer. It is designed to work that way.

If you have multiple devices backing up to the Cloud, you will see all of them listed. You would click on each device to change what is backed up from that device. You can then delete your individual back-ups.
Once you have all your settings to your liking, you can then go back to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, and click on Back Up Now (bottom of the screen) to create a fresh backup with your new settings.

In iTunes, select the music you want to delete (⌘+a to select all) and hit Delete on your keyboard.
Also delete the music files in Finder. Also make sure you have your own Apple ID and iTunes account and logged in.

I think rendering the audio has to do with the way I import to FCE. This is how I bring video into FCE because it seems to be the only way I can get it to work. I run my video camera through a digital coverter which runs a firewire into my Mac. I then import the video into imovie. After that is done, I do a drag and drop of the imovie into FCE. I have to render the audio because it just beeps if I don't when I play it back in FCE. I tried using the video capture in FCE but it keeps telling me it is unable to capture (my gues is the cameras are too old and the digital converter in not compatable with FCE or Mac). So once the video and audio footage is in FCE, if I click the green button on the left hand side, my rendered audio becomes a red line. However, I can click the same button on the upper video portion, and it drops the video out so I can see video clips on the lower levels and not just the first one on top. So that's why I render the audio. I can see all twelve audio tracks already. Tom- would making the change you suggest still help? Great book by the way also.

Do a reset of everything on your ipod. Then reconnect it and it should work.

How you delete content from your iPod depends on how it is set up to sync with your iTunes library whether that be automatically or manually.
If it's automatically, you must reconfigure your settings so that the album you wish to remove is no longer configured to sync to your iPod. For example, if the Sync only checked songs and videos option is enabled from under the iPod's Summary tab, make sure all the tracks for this album do NOT have a tick mark next to them in your iPod. Then resync your iPod with iTunes.
Otherwise, if you manually manage your iPod's contents, you must manually remove content from it. You can do this by plugging your iPod in and clicking the small black triangle next to your iPod from under the Devices section in the left hand pane of iTunes. This will open up a submenu of content, so go ahead and click on Music. Locate the track or tracks you wish to delete. Highlight them and hit the Delete key or choose Edit -> Delete.

When I try to sync music from iTunes playlist to my Ipod shuffle it says the iPod is synced to a different liabrary. It asks if I want to delete the music already on the Ipod and sync it to "this" library. I don't want to lose the music already on Ipod.

Please help. I have no idea why this is happening and I'm kinda new to using iTunes. I'm trying to sync music from a playlist on my iTunes account onto my iPod Shuffle (older Shuffle). I use Windows XP on my laptop. When I try moving the songs to the iPod it says the iPod is synced to another library. I didn't know I had another library (but I guess it is possible because I used iTunes a few years ago too).
The only option I get is to delete the music already on the iPod and sync the iPod to "this" library. I really don't want to lose the music already on the iPod. PLEASE HELP. I'm tech challenged to say the least.

I actually deleted my backup :-) That's the problem. But thanks.
I've managed to get some back but via a slightly different method.
Because the files weren't there, when I deleted them from my library they actually disappeared from the list.... So I created a new library (backed up my original one) and then synched that with Match so that all the files appeared. I'm just going through the ones I'm missing clicking 'download' and then when they're all back on my hard drive I'll revert to the previous Library which will hopefully pick up all of the recovered files.

Itunes is randomly deleting my music files

Im having an issue with itunes, i have my music stored in several locations and wanted to consolidate my library, so i choose an external drive and started exporting all my music from my itunes library to my external drive by changing the library location and making itunes consolidate my files. However its seems to only copy albums and all my eps and singles which i have spend years ripping from all my vinyl, copies over then deletes from the external drive while iTunes copies it! anyone had this issue? its totally frustrating. how can itunes delete my music? it may not be downloaded but its totally genuine and mine to with as i wish. I don't really want to leave my music on my mac as it just takes up to much space.
I have tried copying it over to the external drive, (mac formatted) but again when i load the files in to itunes, it again it selectively deletes all my singles and eps and some selected albums as well???? it wouldn't be so bad if they were in the itunes store but there not!
Can any help me?

I don't think that is the solution. If you check back, this is a perennial issue that does not have a solution. So far.
In synching up files there will be various conflicts and having another text based list to compare before and after results of the sync might have some ability to determine what was deleted.
Synching contacts is just as prone to random damage
