V 8 When I print to a plotter, Firefox intercepts the request and says it doesn't know how to handle the address. Still plots.

I just close the FireFox window that opens and the plotter gets the file, however, instead of printing the file, I have to go to the plotter and tell it to continue with the plot.
Does not happen every time.

Also, look for error messages related to that event in the Error Console under the Firefox button > Web Developer. You will need to sort thru the error messages in the Error Console to find the applicable message for that printer problem, and you can right-click a message and use '''Copy''' to get the message to the clipboard for pasting here.

What version of Photoshop are you running?
I've seen a couple of instances over the last week or two where Photoshop has added masks, strange colours and also merged content from two separate PSD files that were open at the same time.
This has occurred on two different iMacs, (both 10.10.x) running Photoshop CC 2014.2.2 (20141204.r.310 x64).

I typed in the IPv6 address of the printer in the address feild of firefox.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Do a malware check with some malware scanning programs. 
You need to scan with all programs because each program detects different malware. 
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

Protocol error usually indicates that the very leftmost part of the URL is not recognized.
So http://, ftp://, rtsp://, usually work.
ableton:// would need to be added by some software somewhere...

Previous suggestions were to update the Security Manager if there was one. There were also these add ons:

I had to reset Firefox (due to slowness and shockwave error message that I kept getting). Itunes was downloaded after the reset, but I can't get into it? Any ideas?

I ran into this same problem after Firefox auto-updated to v24! I'm on the Beta Channel and I had Firefox set to automatically update.
What I did to correct the problem:
1. Turned off all automatic updating.
Options> Advanced> Update [tab]
Firefox updates
[x] Check for updates, but let me choose whether to install them
[ ] (unchecked) Use a background service to install updates
I also unchecked;
[ ] Search Engines (I will turn this back on after I'm done with my experiment.)
2. Googled 'Firefox v23 download', downloaded and installed: Firefox_Setup_23.0b1.exe (version 23, Beta 1)
Since I reverted back to v23, I haven't had any problems.

I deleted the HP Smart Web Printing (but kept the link) and now I don't know how to get it back.

I had 23 Microsoft updates and 12 did not update. I am 73 and not very computer literate. I finally (accidentally) discovered that, at least part of the problem, was that I must have installed Explorer 9. It told me to update to a new driver/software. I was trying to do it step-by-step and that's when I deleted the Smart Web Printing. On the second step of trying to fix it, it would not update because it says it doesn't support 64 bit (which I have). It only supposed 32 bit. HELP. I can't figure out how to get my smart web printing back. Also, I don't know how to get my system back to a lower Explorer since I apparently have 9.

HP no longer offers the Smart Web Print software available for download since the change to Smart Print. Rather than trying to get around this maybe we can look at at least resolving the issues you are having.

Available on the link are step by step instructions on installation and setup of Smart Print, including videos on how to use Smart Print so you can become accustomed to using it.
Now before we get into that what you will want to do is verify that you are truely running IE9 64 bit versus the 32 bit. HP Smart Print only supports 32 bit so we want to make sure we are using that.
To check the version of IE you are running follow these steps.
1. Launch Internet Explorer
2. Click on Help
3. Select About Internet Explorer
4. If the version of Internet Explorer has 64 bit next to it then you are running the 64 bit version. If it doesn't say then you are running the 32 bit version and are good!
If you are running the 64 bit version we next need to see if you already have the 32 bit version on your computer.
1.Click on Start
2. Select All programs
3. Look for Internet Explorer (64-bit)
Just below that entry should be another entry called "Internet Explorer" This version of Internet Explorer should be the 32 bit version and you can verify this by repeating the before mentioned steps.
Once you verify that you are running the 32 bit version of IE then you can proceed with installing the Smart Print software.
Also note a few other additional places to check and run IE 32 bit are below:
Go to start->all program->accessories, IE 32 bit version should be located here
You can also find the IE 32 bit version in this path "C:\Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer\iexplore.exe."

Try replacing the "html" at the start with "http",
so if you have html://somesite.edu,
change it to http://somesite.edu.

The only problem I have had is upon clicking any YouTube video, the box pops up saying "Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because the protocol (rtsp) isn't associated with any program." But there are no directions or suggestions on how to address this problem. Ive looked at YouTube add-ons and none of them really seem related. Upon the finish of the new Mozilla, I also was prompted to upgrade the flash player, and did so without any trouble. I am only guessing this is an extension/plug-in problem. Go to [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html Download Firefox v3.6.17] and download it to the desktop. 
Then go to Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to "Mozilla Firefox" and remove it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (don't checkmark the box). 
Then reboot and delete the folder called "Mozilla Firefox" at this location: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox 
Finally run the installation file you downloaded to the desktop earlier. 
Your bookmarks, customizations etc., are maintained in a different location and will become available to you again once you complete the installation. 
After you complete the installation, go to the [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/ Plugins Check] page and update those where necessary.
