V04 and intermittent loss of connection whilst usi...
In 3+ years with BT Vision I have had perhaps two V04 errors which were fixed with suggested re-boot.
In the last week I have had more than 10 and reboots don't fix the errors permanently. I get connection back but then get errors later or find the Vision services are not available. Watching film last week, the connection dropped about 10 times during the film.
I have run the Speedtest but have found the instructions and posted results to be totally inconsistent with the results I was getting.
For example, after performing Speedtest it asks what Connection Rate & IP Profile results I get - Speedtest doesn't give you these results, it gives download speed (Mbps), Upload speed (Mbps) & Ping Latency.
By clicking other options it then takes me to api.home site. This shows Bandwidth rate differently.
Mine was:
Bandwidth
448 / 8,128
However it then asks you to select if you are getting 'Connection Rate of more than 2016' or 'Connection Rate of less than 2016'. Which ever option you chose, it states: "It looks like your broadband connection is causing problems with your BT Vision On Demand service".
Then it asks you questions about microfilters and then finishes, so was of no use to me.
As my error is intermittent (but frequent) I am unclear how to progress this.
I suggest a phone call to the Vision Team. it may indeed be a problem with your BB speed.

Intermittent loss of connection
For about a week now I have been suffering from a intermittent loss of connection to the internet the internet will be fine until it randomly decides to drop out. Usually I'll be surfing the website and go to navigate to another webpage when it times out and tells me it couldn't find the website in question. My games seems to be affected as well though it is more common for me to observe this in my browser the problem occurs in Firefox and I loaded Chrome as well one day and the problem appears there as well. I need some line quality tests with dslreports.com's line quality test and I did four of them they all reported intermittent packet loss the odd thing I noticed is in all four tests I did the same node suffered a varying amount of packet loss (ae-1-60.edge1.SanJose3.Level3.net) I have been trying to get some info on this server but I can't seem to find any info on it whatsoever I have included all four tests in the zip archive attached to this post.
I also did a fifth test which I included as well I did this test after resetting the router and did another test but it was much of the same. Please tell me how to troubleshoot this problem I am losing my mind and patience.

Line Quality Test 5I've been having a simliar issue as well for about a month now where my internet drops out every now and then for several seconds and then comes back up. This only started happening after Hurricane Sandy in Staten Island, NY when my ONT had to be replaced after being flooded. Since then, I have already had my ONT replaced twice and was given a new REV I router and told to not send back my old REV D router which never had any problems before. I have even tried putting back the REV D router and I still kept losing internet every now and then. After multiple chats with Verizon, they seem to have pinpointed the problem to be a physical issue in my house. So, I tried connecting the REV I router directly to the ONT, via coax, and I still noticed the internet dropping. Looking at the router logs, I noticed the following entries every now and then (usually multiple times a day):

I setup syslog on the router which feeds it to the WallWatcher application and this is all the details I get duing the flap. I'm really stumped by this and can't figure out what the problem is. Could it be a bad PON card? I noticed that the logs show only the WAN Coax going down without the LAN Coax which leads me to believe in a faulty connection between the router and the ONT. I've already tried connecting both routers directly to the ONT to no avail. The only changes that I can think of since Sandy are the electrical outlets that were replaced. Could they be causing some kind of interference? I've tried running the coax with and without the ground block, but that didn't help either. The only thing that was not replaced since the first post-Sandy installation is the ONT battery system, only the battery itself was replaced once. Could that be it? Just to be clear, I have always been connected via coax and I have tried testing with different cables. -
Bouts of packet loss and complete loss of connection
Ok forum, I give up! I need your help.
I have an E1200 and am time out and packet loss issues. The internet connection is fine for 30 seconds to five minuets and then everything times out for 15-20 seconds. Although it’s only a minor incontinence to web browsing, it makes playing games and watching videos a nightmare. “Lost connection to server error.” and the like…
This is what I have done to remedy the problem.
I upgraded to a new router, the e1200 I am currently using, from my Tenda 10/100 N. The problems where the same that I am experience currently and the reason I bought it in the firs place.
When I directly connect to the cable modem, I have no issues and everything is fine.
I have run a trace route and the second hop, (the router to the modem) is the choke point.
I have cloned the MAC address
I have updated the firmware and hard reset
I have throttled my MTU to automatic, 1500, and 1472. None making any difference.
I have disabled NAT and all that does is kill my internet connection
I have disabled all firewalls router and windows, no change.
I replaced the physical wire from the router to the modem.
I have disconnected all devices except one computer, and no difference.
I ran a DNS trace and I have… non routable local internet address 192.168.1.1
DNS-cac-lb-01.rr.com and DNS-cac-lb-02.rr.com
I am using windows 7 and my ISP is time Warner so-cal. Help me obiwan, you’re my only hope.Sorry friend. I have not had the gaul to load the 1.0 firmware. I am 99% sure I have the 2.0 hardware. I did however unplug my modem for an hour and then try and reconnect. The result was a lossless environment for fifteen to twenty minuets (a long time for me.). But, I am right back still having the same problem. A friend gave me a new netgear router, I am going to try that and I am going to go to Timewarner and have them replace my modem just to make sure there is nothing wrong with the surfboard. I will report back with my findings.

WLC 5508 intermittent loss of connectivity
Hi.
I have a WLC 5508 connecting directly to a distribution switch (3850) via a layer 2 etherchannel trunk fibre link with LAG enabled on the WLC.
Whenever there is a loss of power to the server room where both devices are hosted & power later gets restored, the distribution switch & WLC lose Layer 2 & 3 connectivity. Connectivity only gets restored when the WLC is power cycled or the fibre cables connecting to its SFP ports are removed & plugged back in. When this is done connectivity is restored between them, APs associate etc. Once there is a loss of power to the room for whatsoever reason again, the loss of connectivity issue re-occurs.
Disabled the etherchannel at some point, using only a single fibre trunk link between them, but the issue persists.
Also check for interface errors, CRCs, etc on both ends but there are none.
Can anyone please advice me on what the issue is & what can be done to permanently resolve this?
Thanks in anticipation.
Ope.Software version is 7.4.100.0

Port setting on the switch is set to auto-negotiate. Port setting on the controller is "auto". The link has been negotiated (& always negotiates) to 1000Mbps full duplex on both ends.
Presently in transit with no way of connecting to the device, but I checked the duplex & speed settings on both devices which was appropriately negotiated. Also checked for interface error counters on the switch, there was none. Checked the WLC logs too, there were no logs on issues with the interfaces or auto-negotiation. -
Ipad speed and wifi loss of connection
I updated my ipad 3 to iOS 7 version and it runs so slow now, it is so painful to use that I almost can't stand it, I've noticed the drop in performance, as soon as I upgraded the software.. Can I change it back, is there a fix for this..
Also, the ipad constantly drops its wifi connection since the update, Mysore upgraded his iphone 4 and it also drops the connection...?
Any idea sits very frustratingSome things to try first:
1. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
2. Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
3. Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
4. Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
5. Renew IP Address: (especially if you are droping internet connection)
• Launch Settings app
• Tap on Wi-Fi
• Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
• In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.
Some Wi-Fi losses may stem from a problematic interaction between Wi-Fi and cellular data connections. Numerous users have found that turning off Cellular Data in Settings gets their Wi-Fi working again.
You may have many apps open which can possibly cause the slowdown and possibly the loss of wifi. In iOS 4-6 double tap your Home button & at the bottom of the screen you will see the icons of all open apps. Close those you are not using by pressing on an icon until all icons wiggle - then tap the minus sign. For iOS 7 users, there’s an easy way to see which apps are open in order to close them. By double-tapping the home button on your iPhone or iPad, the new multitasking feature in iOS 7 shows full page previews of all your open apps. Simply scroll horizontally to see all your apps, and close the apps with a simple flick towards the top of the screen.

Intermittent loss of internet connection on Homehu...
Hi Everyone
I have recently taken out a new contract with BT and connected my new Homehub 4 on the 14th February. Seemly it was okay for at least 5 days then I started to experience some intermittent loss of internet on all of the devices, i.e PC, laptop, xbox, it effected both wired and wireless. The hub was showing orange light, which then prompt me to press the reset/restart button on top of the hub.
I have try out my old Homehub 1 for 3 days to see if it effected that one too, but the hub 1 was perfect in term of no loss of connection for 3 day.
Then I connect homehub 4 again on Fri 28th February it was okay for a day, except on 1st march in the morning hub seem to disconnect/reconnect itself. Then around 2310 pm I have loss all connection to the internet through all of my devices again.
Does anyone know what this problem is? It is to do with BT-Wifi Fon, or is the hub 4 faulty and need replacing?
Many ThanksIt was orange central broadband light, there were no other light showing on the silver part.
I have not tried test socket yet, however, I did have a new master socket and line replaced couple year ago, so it would have the new faceplate on there. Plus, the external line etc must be working since hub 1 was working perfectly.
Here the information from speed test
Download Speed: 1.98 Mbps

Max Achievable Speed
Download speed achieved during the test was - 1.98 Mbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 0.4 Mbps-2 Mbps.

Ipad2 losses cell connection now that iOS 8 was installed. Ios 8.0.2 did NOT correct the issue. Come on and fix this issue!
Hey everyone-
Im in the same boat, started a thread . My hands free system worked fine with iOS 8 out of the box new iphone 6. Did the update this morning and i can stream music perfectly fine however i cannot make or receive calls through hands free system.
I have not tried resetting the settings like most people indicate is working. I feel like I shouldn't have to reset anything, even less mess with settings with an update coming from apple. it should "Just Work"
Some people who reset said it works for a few hours, other say it don't work, and I don't know what I should do.
Car: Hyundai Sonata 2014
NOTE: I was able to replicate the issue in my wifes Hyunday Elentra 2013.
This is how I know its not a defect with the BT in my car. -
Hi,
My magic mouse has started to intermittently loose the connection to my Imac. can anyone advise what the problem may be. ThanksHi,
I have also changed the mouse, but had read that the problem was the batteries not connecting properly. I think I have now solved it. The new mouse was fine until I changed the batteries. I put Duracell in, but it seems they are a fraction shorter than those supplied (Energizer). I got some Energizer batteries and hey presto - problem gone.

Latency and Intermittent connection since 24th of July.
There is a large tree branch leaning on the cable wire in the back rinning from the main box to the pole. The wire looks intertwined in smaller branches and a larger branch leaning heavily on it making like a v effect. This would cause noise frequency and an intermmittent connection according to what I read online. Accordingly any weight on a cable wire would cause for an signal interference. The area was affected by several outages in the last 2 weeks, which appeared to be resolved, one which was a lightning strike on one of the Nodes. I believe there still be something wrong because others in the area are getting intermittency and weak signals at certain times and not others. Since I use the internet for work purposes I need the connection to provide over 100mbps of download at least 99 percent of the time. This is what I am paying for. I am getting 30 at times and 100 at others causing it to be difficult to do my job. I have had the service checked several times and they keep reporting yellow signal of high noise frequency comming to the co-axle from somewhere. There were not able to pin point it, but the large tree branch may be the issue. After speaking to several reps. over the last 2 weeks and reporting the need to free the drop wire from the tree branch at least a dozen times to reps in technical support, I found out yesterday that there is no NOTES taken anywhere on the account reporting a tree branch issue. This convinced me that comcast is falsifying/modifying the support call notes for some reason. In fact since the 29th of July when a technician took pictures of the issue and allegedly reported this to maintenance, NOTHING has been done about the tree branch or the latency and intermittent connection I still have. I also had a major CREEPY experience with the technician that came out here that day. I now have an appointment for Monday which was rescheduled again from Thursday without notice and I waited hour on Thursday for someone to show up, but no one did and they rescheduled it until Monday without an explanation. Supervisor said it might be because they needed a bigger team to come out on Monday. If this is not taken care of on Monday Corporate will be hearing more of me.
Dear Complaining,
I am so sorry for the delay! I have sent you a private message so that we can discuss your service concerns more freely.

You can also access this area by clicking on the Username in a Thread or post. By default, Private Messages are enabled. You can disable this feature in My Settings>Preferences> Private Messenger. -
VoIP Phones - Testing Latency, Jitter, and Packet Loss
I am having big problems with my VoIP phone connection and I'll try to lay it out clearly here.
The main telephone system resides at Location A (static IP address - see below - xxx.xxx.206.19), which has a network connection of 50MB down/20MB up (i.e., very fast). The VoIP phone configured for that system resides at Location B, which has a network connection of 10MB down/1MB up (i.e., also fast, or at least fast enough "on paper" for a quality VoIP connection). The LAN at Location A uses an Airport Extreme router, which does not have QOS or EF capability. The LAN at Location B uses a D-Link DIR-655 router which does have QOS that is configured properly to direct all traffic to the VoIP phone's IP address.
The VoIP phone at Location B is having intermittent call quality problems with skipping of words, hollowing out noises, jittery conversations, etc. All the inquiries I've made to the ISPs and phone system manufacturer (ESI) suggest that my base Internet speeds are not the problem.
I'm told, instead, that the problem might be latency, jitter, or packet loss between Location A and Location B. This leads to several questions:
(1) Is there any Mac software that can test latency, jitter, and packet loss? I've looked at Network Utility and it seems to only measure a few things.
(2) Does anyone see anything in the following Traceroute and Ping results (done twice from Location B to Location A) that looks problematic to VoIP quality?:

(3) Any other ideas on what my call quality problem might be, or how I can tweak it? For example, would putting a DIR-655 router at Location A and enabling QOS really make a difference?
Thanks to everyone, and I hope this is not too long or difficult to understand.Hey thanks for your reply Yeah im only getting 1 ro sometimes 2 bars reception so hopefully the antenna will beef things up but I think it is what it is perhaps.

I rented Micheal Clayton on HD a couple of days ago (my second HD rental), noticed that the movie playback had intermittent loss of audio whether I set it to DD5.1 or not it made no difference.
The audio loss don't seem to happen at the same scene everytime I rewind and play it back all over again. It seems to happen at random scenes during the movie playback and several times there was no audio for nearly 5 to 10 seconds before it reappears and when I rewind and playback the same scene again, the audio seems to be alright for most parts?
I am wondering if any other users have had similar audio issues with rented movies from iTunes?
This is like my first rental movie which had issues with audio, the previous 3 or 4 rentals did not have any audio nor video issues. It's not my ATV unit either because movies and music videos which I already own, playback on it just fine in DD5.1 via Optical and HDMI. So the issue was just with that one movie which I rented then.
I am wondering how could one demand for a refund from Apple when faced with such problems or issues after the rented movie dissappears from your ATV 24 hours later??
Now I am feeling cautious to rent another movie, what if I have another issue with which ruins the movie experience?
I think I will stick with my PS3 and Blu-Ray for now.Not sure but I thought I read in another issue that if you connect a TB cable from your Mini into the TB port on the display and the audio/video is OK then that would mean the built-in cable is bad. I have never tried this so not sure it would work. Hate to buy a TB cable just to test because of cost. The other way would be to take to Apple store and have them check the cable. It contains miniture IC boards and one could be bad.

Intermittent Loss of Communications with Solaris 10
With a 32 port Terminal Server, if greater than 28 ports are connected to
active hardwired patient monitoring devices, our application on
Solaris 10 experiences intermittent Loss of Comms one port (which a patient device is connect to) at a time. This happens whether or not other terminal servers are attached and has nothing to do with total device load load. We have been able to sustain device loads greater than 60 patients with NO comms loss as long as the 32 port Terminal Server(s) has 28 ACTIVE PORTS OR LESS.
The Loss of Comms ONLY occurs for devices connected to the 32 port
Terminal Server with greater than 28 ports connected to active devices.
This does not occur with Solaris 8. It only occurs with Solaris 10
11//06.
Is this a TCP/IP configuration issue?
I've begun trying to use DTRACE with Provider "mib", but need to narrow
down the "filtering" to only trace on exactly what is needed to get to the root of this issue.
Anyone have any ideas?I had the same problem. I tried all the obvious stuff (reset etc) and tried some of the random fixes suggested on here.
Have you tried cleaning all the gunk from the charger port? Mine was clogged with pocket fluff so I got in about it with a tooth pick - problem solved!
Good luck :)
