V11 to V12 Upgrade

Last week I finally shifted my databases from Web/Business up to the new Standard / Premium tiers in preparation for an upgrade to V12 database.
I upgraded on Tuesday and it was ready for the next day - I ran SELECT @@version to confirm I was on V12. I shifted some databases to the much needed S3s (I think I still need an S4!) and just monitored things and all was ok.
This morning, my databases appeared to go offline one by one for a few minutes - so firstly, is that just part of the upgrade process or should I be worried?
The significant thing that I saw is that my Premium 3 server is now logging monitoring stats as it had stopped during and after the upgrade, but worst now it's running at 95%! Is this as expected to do some sort of catch up process?

I presumed that this was the final switch over to the new database as most of the databases have had their monitoring stats reset. The P3 also returned back to normal CPU levels - so I presume it was transferring the missing data from the old website to
the new one.
The new concern is that the DB went offline briefly again and the stats are back to 0% again...

It is unfortunate that the issue happened again. However, as you have opened a Support Ticket, I am sure that the support engineer will get the issue sorted for you.

    I'm upgrading SQL server to v12 to be able to utilize S3 performance level. Upgrade is running for 28 hours and still not completed. Actually, info in the portal said that it takes up to 24 hours.

    Just for clarification, you are upgrading a database (logical server) in Azure from V11 to V12?
    How long the upgrade takes is depending on the size of your database(s). The larger the database the longer it will take. If it seems the operation is stuck you should file a support ticked through the portal to have the issue being investigated.

    PS - I added an iphone5 which is whay these upgrades happened so this synching to the ipod error is since the iphone began synching.

    I just learn in some post that the most common lapses in syncing is not checking if "sync music" in music section of the ipod is ticked. So double check if it is. Cheers!

    Does anybody know if Nokia discontinued the V12 upgrade pending improvements to all the "bugs" that have surfaced for so many people that have upgraded?

  • "Database on server is not currently available" after v12 Upgrade

    I have two databases on a database server, for which I initiated the v12 update preview from the Preview Portal.  I had access to both databases last night, but now I'm receiving the following error (actual object names removed):
    Database '[database]' on server '[server]' is not currently available.  Please retry the connection later.  If the problem persists, contact customer support, and provide them the session tracing ID of '{401C6B54-173C-43CB-A16F-2AD76D44ABEA}'.
     (Microsoft Server Server, Error: 40316).
    I tried going through the support purchase plan, but received an error.  I'm reluctant to pay for support, as I'm just testing and it seems to be a technical problem on Azure's side.
    I am a Bizspark member.  It's unclear to me whether this entitles me to a support plan outside of this forum.

    I created a second server and was able to create a database on that server that I'm able to connect to, but the server associated with this error is still unavailable.  I've tried specifying each of my two databases in the connection string, with no
    luck (same error).

    1. you may have to disable the triggers as they do really slowdown the performance.

  • Nokia N96 Software upgrade

    Hi,
    In November I bought the N96 from Carphone warehouse.  I really like most things about the phone but was very disappointed by the battery life.  Just before Christmas I attempted to upgrade the software (from verion 11 to 12)to see if that will improve the battery life.  Unfortunatly something went wrong and I was unable to turn the phone back on.
    I tried various thing which I have seen on various websites to get it working again including the 3 finger reset however wasn't able to get it working again.
    I took the phone into Carphone Warehouse who also could not fix it so the phone was sent to Nokia.  On the 15th the phone was returned to Carphone warehouse however it failed a quality test and finally earlier this week I was given a replacement phone (Software version 11).
    Having used the phone for 4 days I am still disappointed by the battery life.  It gives me battery warnings by the end of the day having taken it of the charger when I leave for work in the morning.
    Obviously I am very reluctant after my last attempt to try and do the software upgrade again.  Can anyone tell me if the software upgrade is worth doing?  Does it improved the battery life? What other things does it fix?
    What tips do you have for me to avoid turning my phone into a brick again?

    Before you do anything, the N96 takes up to a few days to index all user files. During this period, the phone is slow and it uses a bit more power. Also, the battery requires a few charge cycles before it reaches peak performance. You battery life should keep improving for the first half dozen of so charge cycles. 
    There are a few steps you can take to enable you to squeeze a little more standby time from your battery. These include:
    1. Switch the phone from Dual Mode to GSM only
    2. Turn off bluetooth when not required
    3. Turn off Wlan scanning when not required
    4. Reduce the backlight power saver time
    5. Reduce backlight brightness
    6. Exit any applications when not in use
    7. Disable the "breathing" light
    Personally I did not notice any improvement in battery life going from V11 to V12.
    If you ever try updating again, I would strongly recommend you doing it FOTA (Firmware over the air) rather than using NSU.

  • Nokia N97 Upgrade 2. Need infos...

    If i update N97 to the new firmware will i lose the applications i have istalled?
    I took me hour and ofcourse money to get the apps in my phone so will be any chance to lose them?
    When i once updated the software on my previous phone (N95) i couldn't use the apps i had before eventhough the shortcut icons where still there and i was unable to remove them. So this was a bit annoying.
    Will something like that happen again to my N97? I bought Ndrive gps and many games from the vodafone live menu, not to refer the apps i got from the ovi store.. So all these got me much time to achieve.. Will everything be lost after the update? Or even Worst will be there and not accesible for anything?

    Installing new firmware should not require you to reinstall your applications you've previously purchased as the N97 utilises UDP (User Data Preservation).  I've done two firmware updates on my N97 since getting it, from v10 to v11 and then v11 to v12, plus a firmware reinstall and have never lost anything.
    It is, however, good practice to back up your device 'just in case' so you have something to fall back on if it does go wrong as nothing is ever 100% guaranteed.

    I update my n95 with nokia software updater from v11 to v12,
    with v11 the mobile with fully workin without any bug & i denied to update software for fear of any bug but i found accdentally the N.S updater & found them greating it in forums,anyway i download it then i try GPS ... it deticte Satillites but it does no calculate anything
    any one know how to solve it or even how to redownload the old software but easy steps cause i only know N.S updater

    I've used my N95 with v10, v11, v12 and v20 firmware and GPS/Maps (in Europe, Asia and North America). v10 was the most unstable, v11 was mostly OK and with v12 the A-GPS really helped in getting the satellite lock quickly. Now I'm at v20 (just released).
    If v20 doesn't help in your case, then I suspect that you might have broken hardware.

    Seeing as so many users are unhappy with their N97's myself personally included (but ive persevered)
    despite having to reboot,hard reset,missing music files,missing artwork,backups not working,scratched camera lens,countless hours spent on forums trying to solve issues and hundred of hours of my spare time
    and basically the product was launched in no fit state for commercial use and even now after the latest firmware still has software issues and bugs hows about someone from Nokia saying fairs fair we havent handled this situation well why not let N97 users exchange/trade in their n97's against a N900 which I am presuming has been beta tested better
    as a loyal nokia customer I would happily pay an admin charge for this service somewhere between £50 and £100
    which i think is a fair compromise bearing in mind the new n900 is launching for about the same price as  the N97 did and the fact that the N97 mini is cheaper and has more ram !!
    The campaign for nokia to do this starts here lets get lots of supportand take it to nokia

    I now have the N95 in my pocket to use as my mp3 player! At least the handsfree kit fits both.
    I should have learnt... I never upgrade windows version until SP1 comes out, I shouldn't have gone to V20 until V21 appeared. I just didn't think it could have more quirks than V12... Well I guess it doesn't. Most of the quirks have gone... It just has howling bugs!

  • N95 backup file not recognized after Firmware upda...

    Hi,
    I've been updating my N95 from V11 to V12.0.013 right after I did a backup file. Backup went ok and no error reported.
    After fw update, I tried restoring data but Content Copier informs that "no earlier backup file exists for this phone".
    I've tried selecting folder where back-up file is saved but it does not recognize it.
    I was using PC Suite 6.83 and decided to upgrade to 6.84 just released, to have another try but it still doesn't find backup file, eventhough it exists (2007-07-12 Nokia N95.nbu)
    Could you please instruct if there are some specific steps to go through in such case??
    I'm using XP, Service Pack 2
    PC Suite 6.84
    N95, V12.0.013

  • How to access Magic Extractor after purchasing Version 13 of Photoshop Elements

    After paying $99 plus tax to purchase Photoshop Elements V13 I have learned that Magic Extractor was eliminated from this and V12 'upgrades.'  There are workarounds in V13, but they won't work so well I have read.  I need to apply a white background for Amazon images to photos of wire jewelry.  I need intelligent software to help me.  See my items at http;//www.ElegantEarCuffs.com to see how difficult a manual process this is.
    Is there a way for me to download a version with Magic Extractor and if so, would you recommend which version, ie V11 possibly?
    Since I have already paid for 13 would I have to pay for 11?

    Glad all seems to have worked out for you.
    I was about to go into...
    Photoshop Elements 13 and Premiere Elements 13 are standalone products that come with the Elements Organizer 13.
    When they are on the same computer, they share the same Elements Organizer 13 catalog.
    So your suggestion that you got different Elements Organizer 13 results depending on whether you started on the Photoshop
    Elements 13 versus Premiere Elements 13 side of things was challenging.

  • N96 next firmware?

    I have been very fond of Nokia over the last few years. I am however getting slightly disappointed by the frequency of firmware updates for the n96, they were necessary (v11 and v12) to fix crashes and other messed up things on the device. The latest firmware (v12) did introduce some bugs such as the # shortcut not available anymore... I see plenty of firmwares for the 5800 and E71, so what gives...
    So any rumours about a new version coming out?

    Thoughts anyone?
