V2.0.1 update error (3259)

Hi!
I wanted to update my iPod Touch to v2.0.1 today but I couldn't. I donwloaded the 246,7 MBs to my PC and when the download finished I got the following error message:
"There was a problem downloading the iPod software for the iPod "myname iPod". The network connection timed out!
Make sure your network settings are correct and your network connection is active, or try again later."
I tried to download the update again and again but the same error occures. I'm sure my network connection is okay, in my browser net works fine!
What can I do with this update? How can I get it? Is there any other option to download and install it directly (without using iTunes)???
Hope till the download installs correctly I won't be billed for the update!

I'm getting the same problem. To be honest, I've been very disappointed with a number of things relating to itunes setup. Why does it revert back to zero bytes when you pause the download. Its just a joke... I can't believe Apple design their software to behave so second rate. Isn't anyone in Apple QA this stuff before release?... its like everything is BETA. I think its a bit rich to be charging people $12 for these updates so soon after purchasing the ipod from the stores for $475, then only to have days of problems sorting out technical problems with downloads and setup.

Update of OS from 3.0 - Update Error -3259

Can anybody help I cannot up date my OS from 3.0 to the latest... when I run the download and update it says at the last moment that it cannot complete the download as it has lost connection with the server giving error code -3259. I have been trying with no success for the last 6 months to do this. I have had no luck with any of the other Iphone forumS I have visited.

i do get those at work on windows and home on my mac

Changing my DNS settings worked for me (3253 errors on my MBP). I followed the instructions here:

I been updating my ipod touch 4 software to the new ios 5 all day. i tried disabling my security programs and firewall, different download programs and reinstalling iTunes, and restarting my ipod touch. But for each attempt i get a different error. i went to the Specific update and restore errror code page and got a reason for each error except for error -3259. Basically my question is: 1. How can i update my ipod software to io5 and 2. What is the reason behind error -3259?

Connect it to iTunes on a computer and update it from there. Note that the second generation iPod touch(which includes 8GB models sold at the same time as the third generation ones) can't be updated past 4.2.1.

Getting error 3259 when trying to update newest iPhone version. I'm not tech savvy so could someone explain what this is and what exactly I need to do to fix this! I've not had this problem until recently.

If problem what happens or does not happen and when in the instructions? When you successfully get the iPod in recovery mode and connect to computer iTunes should say it found an iPod in recovery mode.

I'm getting error (-3259) whilst trying to update to version 4.3.2.

I'm wondering if anyone can help me here. I try to update my iPhone as it says there is an update available, and it fully downloads. It then tries to verify the download and I get an error (-3259). Can anyone help me with this as it would be greatly apprieciated?

This error usually means that iTunes cannot contact the Apple activation servers gs.apple.com. Possible causes include your firewall, router, or antivirus blocking access, or, if you have ever used a program like tinyumbrella or recboot to try to fix your phone when it was in recovery mode it corrupted the hosts file on your computer. You will need to edit the hosts file and delete all lines containing gs.apple.com.

Are you doing this over a wireless network. This happened a long time ago when we had DSL. I got sick of it and went to broadband thru our cable company.
If you are using wireles router, use a cable and connect your computer via the cable to the modem or wireless router if you have a location for the cable upon the wireless router. I think it is a cat 5 cable that connects the computer to your modem or wireless router. This way you Internet should not time out.
I hope this helps you. It is hard to identify the issue not knowing your Internet connect setup. Some modems and wireless routers have more Port options.

Software update download error -3259

I am trying to update my iPad to v4.3.2 but every time the download finishes I get this error message:
There was a problem downloading the software for the iPad xy. The network connection timed out.

Error 3259 message when download firmware update finish?

I have tried to download the update firmware 2.0.1 and same error when I tried for 2.0.2. I saw the download stopped at 248.7MB/248.7MB at the itune app store screen, then itunes stopped and show error 3259 0MB/248.7MB. The description was: check the network connection or check whether the connection has been activated? (translation from Chinese error message)
What had happen? and how can I fix it?

I really have no answers, but I wanted to say that the same thing is happening to me! Only I'm not as fortunate to get to 248.7MB...mine "times out" at 5.6MB. I have no idea why this is happening...there are no other users logged into my network...no other processes going on while I'm attempting to download...but yet it keeps giving me error 3259. HELP!

Error 3259 when trying to update iTouch 16GB to iOS 4.2

Hi... each time I connect my touch to my laptop, iTunes opens, and I am asked to update to iOS 4.2. I have gone through this numerous times, and the download takes place, and starts to process, then I get the error 3259. I am running Windows Vista along with Kaspersky Internet Security 2011. Please give me an idea what I can do now.

I was having the same problem and after several weeks of technical support they basically gave-up and suggested I try installing Kaspersky KIS v12 (2012) (not yet released, but available on their ftp download site as a "current version").
Anyway, I installed it and now I can update my iOS on my iPhone and iPad. Voilla!
However, Kaspersky claim that this is not a common problem. Yeah, right!
If you want to upgrade to KIS v12 (2012) or KAV v12 (2012), then here is how:
1) Download v12 (2012) from the ftp site here:
ftp://ftp2.kasperskyftp.com/consumer-products/Current_Versions/KIS2012/
2) Disconnect from Internet (doh!)
3) Stop Kaspersky (right click on the "K" in the tool tray and select "Exit")
4) Uninstall Kaspersky from the Control Panel (Programs / Add-Delete Programs)
5) Reboot after uninstalling old version
6) After rebooting, install KIS/KAV v12 (2012)
7) When it prompts for install key, re-connect to the Internet and enter the key code (usually on the back of the envelope the original installation disk is in). The key code for earlier versions should work (at least it did for code with KIS 2010, two versions earlier).
8) Reboot when done
Finally, if this works for you (or anyone else), please post here, since Kaspersky seems to think it is very rare case that it worked for me... ha!
