V3.5 COMPRESSED OUTPUT NOT MEETING SETTING SIZE

Working with Compressor 3.5 on 10.5.7, QuickTime 7.6.2, I have a setting that takes a uncompressed 8-bit 422 HD 1920x1080 file and creates a Apple ProRes 422 720x486 letterboxed file using padding, but the compressed results despite my nifty setting is actually opening in QuickTime Player as 655 x 486 (via QuickTime's Movie Inspector) for Normal and Display Size. The same on QuickTime Player for Windows XP too.
I have a PAL setting set to render a file at 720x576 but its showing up in QuickTime's Movie Inspector as 787x576 for both Normal, Display and Scaled Size.
Way, way back to an older version of QuickTime there was an "Conform Aperture" setting in the player where a user could tell QuickTime how to display square and non-square pixels or encoded pixels for this sort of thing (see Apple article TA24215 http://support.apple.com/kb/TA24215 for more info). Although this caused some confusion. I think this is why future versions of QuickTime had Normal, Display and Scaled Size information. Is the same thing happening here? With this version of QuickTime Pro, the Conform Aperture setting is not available.
Taking the odd sized 655x486 and 787x576 file and importing them in Final Cut Pro 7.0, they show in the viewer correctly as 720x486 and 720x576 respectively, no problems there. They show up in the bin and in a timeline correctly which leads me to believe this might be a QuickTime Player thing. Also the same thing in Compressor 3.5 itself (via Inspector):
"Encoded bounds: 720x486"
"Display Bounds: 640x486" and
"Pixel Aspect Ratio: NTSC CCIR 601/DV"
Does anyone know why this is happening and is there a way to get QuickTime to show the actual dimensions of the movie?

I'm a dork. QuickTime 7.6 still has the Conform to Aperture setting - but on the movie itself and not just the video track.
Compressor 3.5 no longer defaults to none, but actually defaults now to:
"Conform Aperture to: Production" making the display different from Compressor version 3.0.5 to 3.5.
Any ideas how to change this back to the old way way of none?

  • Output Compression Increasing, not Reducing File Size

    Hi guys
    I have Pr CC2014 on a Win7 PC, with a Nvidia Quadro FX3800 and I'm having nothing but problems lately. Apart from CUDA doesn't open properly, my exports are getting worse and worse. The quality is much degraded from the preview in edit. Now compression seems to be working in reverse. Today a simple 9 minute interview (a mixture of hdv and hdtv clips, with just a couple of dip to black transitions and a short aep import, output to h.264, with a YouTube 720/ 25fpsHD preset), ended with a file size of 1.7gb, which is two or three times as big as all the material in the sequence! Up until CC2014, it was around 200/ 300mb! I even tried exporting to MPEG 2. Although a lower file size, it is still double what I have been getting previously and the YouTube quality isn't good enough.
    My sequence settings are:
    HDV 25 FPS,
    Frame size, 1440x1080,
    Pixel aspect, HD Anamorphic 1080 (1.333),
    Fields, upper first,
    Codec MPEG I-Frame
    Composite in liner color
    My output preset is h.264 but keeps defaulting to match source high bit r ate,
    profile, high,
    Level 4.1
    VBR, 1 pass
    Multiplexer settings are MP4, standard
    I probably can't see the wood from the trees, but any help would be much appreciated.
    Graham

    Thanks. I haven't tried AME, but I'll run it through as a test and see what happens.

    Hi,
    First get the backup piece size its trying to allocate for file "/home/oracle/DBBACKUP/Oracle10g1/Full_Backup/DB_Backup_201401128366598241"
    = 12839996*16384
    = 210370494464/1024/1024/1024
    =195.9GB
    Its trying to allocate ~196GB for the file.
    1. Make sure the RMAN backup piece won’t exceed the O/S permitted filesize limit.
    2. But we can restrict the RMAN backup piece using the MAXPIECESIZE option.
    You restricted it to 120GB but actual requirement to allocate backup piece file is ~196GB.
    I think you need to change the MAXPIECESIZE and give it a try.
    Please update if it succeeded or failed.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • AD CS Web Enrollment Error - "public key does not meet the minimum size required"

    I've installed a standalone root CA and a enterprise subordinate CA in our environment - both are Windows 2008 R2. Everything is working except for Web Enrollment using a custom User template. I duplicated the default User template and choose
    2003 Compatible for the new one. I changed the minimum key length to 2048 and set the validity period to 2 years.
    We'd like to avoid using the Advanced Certificate Request page, so I modified certrqtp.inc to point to the new template:
    Else
    ' Request types for enterprise
    rgAvailReqTypes(0,FIELD_TEMPLATE)="User-custom"
    rgAvailReqTypes(0,FIELD_FRIENDLYNAME)=L_UserTemplateCert_Text
    rgAvailReqTypes(0,FIELD_CSPLIST)="Microsoft Enhanced Cryptographic Provider v1.0?Microsoft Base Cryptographic Provider v1.0"
    rgAvailReqTypes(0,FIELD_CSPLIST2)="Microsoft Base Cryptographic Provider v1.0?Microsoft Enhanced Cryptographic Provider v1.0"
    rgAvailReqTypes(0,FIELD_EXPORTABLE)="True"
    nAvailReqTypes=1
    End If
    I also ran into this issue where Web Enrollment jumps straight to the Advanced page if the original User template isn't present on the CA:
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/en/winserversecurity/thread/9ab514bc-1f9f-424e-b70d-705874d9c623
    So I have both User templates loaded on the CA, and I get this error back when attempting a certificate request using IE 8 or 9:
    Your certificate request was denied.
    Your Request Id is 25. The disposition message is "Denied by Policy Module".
    Contact your administrator for further information.
    Looking at the CA's Failed Requests section, I see this error:
    The public key does not meet the minimum size required by the specified certificate template. 0x80094811 (-2146875375)
    I double-checked our custom template and it does specify 2048 as the minimum key size.
    Also, when trying with Chrome 11.0, I get an extra option during enrollment asking for a key size (1024 or 2048). When I choose 2048, the certificate request succeeds. I don't get the key size option when using IE, though.
    We'd like to get this working with IE if possible. Any ideas?

    We had the same error message. The problem turned out to be on the requesting computer, not the server. When we went to renew a cert in IIS on a server it was generating a 1028-bit key request. Since the minimum on the server was set to 2048-bit
    the request failed. So, there's two ways to handle this. You can change the certificate template on the server to have a minimum set to 1024-bit or you can have IIS submit a new request for a certificate and choose 2048-bit as the size of the key during the
    wizard. We opted to have IIS request a 2048-bit key. The same would apply for whatever computer, device, or software you are using to form the certificate request.
    Your message is pretty old, but I am running on the same problem right now. I've added a custom template to select (with 2048) minimum length, but the webpage from the IIS by default provides just 1024-bit. Where can i optimize the IIS to use a 2048-bit
    key when requesting the certificate?
    When I open the same site with Firefox for example, i got a listed option (Medium / High Strength) to choose for the encryption. It seems that the high strength is >= 2048-bit.

  • Java.sql.SQLException: Statement cache size has not been set

    All,
    I am trying to create a light weight SQL Layer.It uses JDBC to connect to the database via weblogic. When my application tries to connect to the database using JDBC alone (outside of weblogic) everything works fine. But when the application tries to go via weblogic I am able to run the Statement objects successfully but when I try to run PreparedStatements I get the following error:

    i have checked the StatementCacheSize and it is 10. Is there any other setting that needs to be implemented for this to work? Has anybody seen this error before? Any help will be greatly appreciated.

  • Advice for modifying a compressed file without expanding its size?

    Hello. Fairly new to video editing, so your advice is appreciated.
    I've got a 720x480 WMV3 .AVI video clip which runs about 1/2 hour at a rate of 666kbps. The file size is about 75MB.
    In trying to adjust the brightness/contrast on the file and resave it, the file sizes for different formats all shoot way up. The file has a heavy amount of compression to start with. My thinking is that 'high-quality' settings within a codec will actually store too much information, while 'low-quality' settings will further compress the file and result in loss of quality.
    Is there any rule of thumb to dealing with an already-compressed file, editing it, and resaving it (without a significant loss of quality) and without greatly increasing file size?
    Thanks in advance,
    John

    John,
    You are starting with a heavily-compressed file, the WMV, so original data has been lost.
    When you output your Timeline, you will again need to apply heavy-compression, to keep the file size down, and also experiment with the Bit-Rate.
    The only aspects, that will address file size, is Duration (pretty much already set), and Bit-Rate. The lower the Bit-Rate, the smaller the file, BUT at the expense of Quality. As you have already taken a hit on Quality, with the initial WMV compression, and you will loose even more Quality, when your re-compress, you need to study the output files, to make sure that they are still satisfactory for delivery.
    If you can do the editing required in Windows Movie Maker, it might be a better program to use, as it is built around the WMV specs. Not sure if it has the Effects and control that you need, however.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • Compression does not save space

    Hello All,
    OS: AIX 5.2.
    We are creating seven backup files every day.
    We transfer files to our backup server via ftp.
    No we have request to compress files.
    So I create a backup folder and put all seven files into one pax folder as below:
    pax -wvf backup.pax file1 file2 file3 file4 file5 file6 file7
    ls
    backup.pax Now I am trying to compress file as below but getting error:
    oracle:>compress backup.pax
    This file is not changed; compression does not save space.
    DN

    it's pretty universally accepted.The keyword is "universally". Bzip2 has better compression but it's very slow. This is the reason why bzip2 can't be universally accepted (I mean online content compression via HTTP etc. etc.).
    But it's accepted by most of *nix clones. And if I need really save ma space then I use bzip2 rather than gzip.
    Just little proof:
    standard_bz2.log and standard_gz.log files are the same.
    du -sh *
    1.1G    standard_bz2.log
    1.1G    standard_gz.lognow I'll execute following commands:
    echo "GZIP"; date; gzip standard_gz.log; date
    echo "BZIP2"; date; bzip2 standard_bz2.log dateand here is output:
    GZIP
    Mon Jun 12 12:26:38 CEST 2006
    Mon Jun 12 12:27:38 CEST 2006
    BZIP2
    Mon Jun 12 12:27:45 CEST 2006
    Mon Jun 12 13:12:29 CEST 2006
    du -sh *
    54M     standard_bz2.log.bz2
    108M    standard_gz.log.gzGzip's compresion was fast (took just 60 seconds) and produced archive has 108M Size.
    Bzip2's compression was much better and produced size of archive was just 54M but it took much time for compression.
    So if you need quick compression and less of saved capacity then gzip is the right option.
    If you need save space or you need better compression then bzip2 is the right option.

  • UserPrincipal.ChangePassword thinks the password does not meet the password policy requirements.

    I am working with C# 3.5.  My goal is to have a simple program to allow a user change their Active Directory user password via a web page.  I have a console application to initially test the commands to active directory and I am running into a problem.
    my domains password policy is as follows.
    Enforce password history 24 passwords remembered
    Minimum password length 7 characters
    Password must meet complexity requirements Enabled
    Store passwords using reversible encryption Disabled
    The error I am getting is "The password does not meet the password policy requirements. Check the minimum password length, password complexity and password history requirements. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x800708C5)"
    I believe the new password I am using does meet the policy requirements and I can't seem to get this program to work.  All I want to build is a simple program to allow a user to change their Active Directory user password.
    My test code is below.
    using System;
    using System.Collections.Generic;
    using System.Linq;
    using System.Text;
    using System.DirectoryServices.AccountManagement;
    using System.DirectoryServices;
    namespace ActiveDirectoryHacking
    class Program
    static void Main(string[] args)
    PrincipalContext adPrincipalContext = new PrincipalContext(ContextType.Domain, "192.168.1.26", "OU=Staff,DC=SFdev,DC=org", "John.Doe", "Initial Complex P234dfword");
    Console.WriteLine("Validate user {0}", adPrincipalContext.ValidateCredentials("John.Doe", "Initial Complex P234dfword"));
    UserPrincipal user = UserPrincipal.FindByIdentity(adPrincipalContext, "John.Doe");
    Console.WriteLine(user.DistinguishedName);
    user.ChangePassword("Initial Complex P234dfword", "e$213434sDKS really? www.microsoft.com");
    //user.SetPassword("Initial Complex P234dfword");
    user.Save();
    Console.WriteLine("Press a key to exit.");
    Console.ReadKey();
    The .SetPassword works if I use a user with Domain Admin access but it appears the John.Doe is unable to change their own password with the .ChangePassword method.
    The output until the exception is the following
    Validate user True
    CN=John Doe,OU=Staff,DC=SFdev,DC=org
    I have no clue why any password I select for the new password does not work.

    I looked into the password policy and this is what I have learned.  There is a major difference between undefined and defined in policies plus making sure the defined policies are set with values that will provide the desired results.
    Since this is a development domain and is used for testing I have tweaked the password policy to allow me to develop and test against the domain with a little bit more freedom than a production domain.
    I have changed the policy to the following settings.
    Enforce password history 0 passwords remembered
    Maximum password age 0 days

    Now, I am able to run my program against the domain testing the password change utility.  My error was leaving some of the policy settings as not defined and not understanding what that really means for each setting.  For development of a password change utility I need the flexibility to test and the relaxed policy changes allows me to run the program many times without having to work with test data that works around a more restricted policy.

  • HT4759 I want to use icloud mail on both iPhone 4s AND my pc. icloud mail on PC is mega glitchy and frustrating because my PC is ancient, I run XP, & these DO NOT MEET req's for iCloud.  Is there a email platform that will run well on both XP and iPhone?

    I NEED to use icloud mail on both iPhone 4s AND my PC. I need to use both.
    Trying to use icloud mail on PC is mega glitchy (STOP SCRIPT WARNINGS EVERY FEW MINUTES) and frustrating because:
      1.  my PC is ancient (but nicely refurbished/fast)
      2.  I run XP  (with both Firefox and Chrome- newest versions)
      3.  thusly, I DO NOT MEET SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS for iCloud.
    In my passed attempts I found that
    1. Yahoo doesn't work well on iPhone
    2. Gmail doesnt work well on iPhone.
    I must be missing something... an app or... maybe a donated/ NEW FREE MAC!  (That would be sweet!  Ha.)
    Is there an email platform that will run well on both XP and iPhone?
    or... Please say it isn't true: I would love a Mac tablet or desktop. We have no money for a mac. SOL?   Is this iCloud apple tech only for wealthy middle class and above who can afford to have the newest and best of everything?

    @Naiks, having suffered through unsuccessful synching attempts for Calendar and Contacts myself, l would suggest you try the following:
    UNINSTALL iCloud control panel from your PC. Seems silly, but do it.
    Go into Outlook, and look at the very top menu. Click FILE, then ACCOUNT SETTINGS, then click the popup box.
    You will see a list of all your email accounts. Make sure that ONE of them has a checkmark against it. If not, select the account your want as your default, and click "set as default.
    Exit out of Outlook and reboot your machine.
    Now reinstall iCloud, check CALENDAR and CONTACTS, and do as instructed when prompted.
    Reboot for good luck and now launch OUTLOOK. All that remains is to locate your iCloud Contacts and Calendar files, and make them your default.
    IMPORTANT: Don't panic if you can't find your contacts -- they're there. Click CONTACTS and you'll see you have several available contact files. Locate the one label "iCloud" in grey type. Right-click on it, select PROPERTIES, then click the Outlook Address Book tab. Check the box that says something like "Make this my default Outlook Address Book." Keep clicking "apply" and "okay" until you've exited out of the dialog box maze.
    You may have to do something similar with your Calendar files. I dd not, but if you need to, do it.
    Everything should now sync pretty seamlessly.
    I didn't have the exact same problem as you, but my dilemma was close enough. Good luck!

  • Audio Line-in input and BT Headset output not working

    Hi,
    I'm trying to run the Line-in into my MBPro and route the output to my Logitech H800 BT Headphones at the same time (a pass through), but can't get it to work.
    I have tried to run the line-in to the Internal Speakers and can not get this to work either.
    Steps to taken:
    1. Go to the Sound window by selecting the Sound icon from System Preferences.
    Next, I route the Line-in by:
    2. Selecting the Input button from Sound Effects, Output, Input buttons.
    3. Select "Line In" from the Select a device for sound input list.
    4. Select "Sound Input" from the Use audio port for drop down list
    5. you should see activity on the Input Level.
    6. Next, select the Ouput button from Sound Effects, Output, Input buttons.
    7. Select "H800 Logitech Headset Stereo (or Internal Speakers) from the Select a device for sound output list.
    8. Verify that "Sound Input" from the Use audio port for drop down list is still selected.
    9. Also, verify that the Mute checkbox is not selected in either the Input or Output window.
    10. NO SOUND :-(
    11. If I pull up a radio station in a webbrowser, I can listen to it without issue. So, I think audio out is set correctly.
    12. If I install Audacity: 1) It shows the audio input and output to be set as above (Built-in Input/H800 Headset). 2) If I record and then playback, it records the audio going in the Line-In and plays back accross the H800. 3) Also looked for a Monitor function in Audacity but could find one to test simulataneous I/O.
    Any idaes welcome ?

    ahh sry, thats how the line in works on my Mac Pro, I guess the Macbook is different. This is a program I use in conjunction with another called 'soundflower' to route my audio to all the places it needs to go:
    http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/11333/linein
    If you need to run multiple instances, you can open up terminal and type
    open -n /Applications/[PUT PROGRAM NAME HERE].app/
    It will open up another instance every time you run that script.
