V3-571G-6407 No Bootable Device. Hit any key.

A while back I was swapping HDD's and the internal SATA seems to have malfunctioned and no longer recognizes anything plugged into it.Fast forward a bit, I got a disc caddy for a secondary HDD, figuring I could just use the secondary slot to run/boot into an OS. However, I'm having issues with the BIOS recognizing the HDD. When running a bootable USB to install an OS, the OS can and does recognize the HDD and proceeds to install to it. Once rebooted to finalize installation, the laptop continues to not recognize the HDD and will not boot to it. Likewise, when using a live-USB, the OS sees and can read/write from the HDD just fine. Nothing I change in BIOS will allow me to see the HDD. And the HDD is set to having a Master partition(which even if it didn't; the BIOS should still at least be able to recognize that it's there).

Hi. I see here is no help at all. I have same problem. Did you solve it or throwen tablet into bin.

  • Get "no bootable device- insert boot disc and hit any key" error

    Hp G72 Laptop, Windows 7 64 bit,
    "no bootable device-insert boot disc and hit any key" (I have no boot disc.)
    I was in the process of replacing the hard drive and the computer was starting the final phase after copying all files. When it restarted the first time, I got the message. I was getting this message randomly prior to replacing the hard drive and if I turned it off for 2 or 3 hours and turned back on I would not get the message. The reason for replacing the hard drive was a "Smart Disc " imminent failure error message.

    Yes and yes. The final recovery disc had completed and it was moving to the next phase. It said the computer would restart several times during this phase and when it went to the first restart, the error message came up and I could proceed no further. I ctrl/alt/del and restarted, pressed escape to get the start-up menu but was lost at all the options. The information screen looked like the old hard drive info.

  • Just powered down and moved my iMac and when powered back up all it says is no bootable disc-please insert disc and hit any key......what do I do?

    when starting up my iMac (had just moved it from one room to another, was working fine) it only shows on the screen "no bootable disc...please insert disc and hit any key".....what do I do?

    That sounds like a message from a DOS-based computer. A Mac would just show a folder with a question mark, unless they've changed things recently. Do you have a BootCamp partition?
    Try holding down the option key immediately after the Chime. You should go into the startup manager and it will show all bootable drives. Pick yours, then go into System Preferences and set your startup disk.
    Next would be to try a Safe Boot by holding down the shift key right after the chime until you see the gray screen. It will take a while to boot up as it is running some disk checks.

  • S10 Loads Bios then Stops, have to Hit Any Key to Load Windows XP

    I have a Lenovo S10, after powering on, the just loads the bios screen of LENOVO.  With the F2 & F12 at the bottom of the screen.  If you press F2 to setup & F12 to Boot Menu, it will do so.
    When you press other keys, it will then load windows xp.
    In the Boot Order, I already put the HDD on top (the first) but you have to hit any key for Windows to load.
    Why?
    Also, flashed the bios to version 14CN94WW.  But did not help.
    Suggestions?  Assistance?

    Hi and welcome to lenovo forum,
    to exclude BIOS ... go in BIOS and press F9 to setup defaults....
    set in Config page quickstart disabled and Beep disabled
     F10 and exit
    unplug PSU and Battery press 30seconds switch On Button ...
    Then plug PSU and Battery in ... press Switch On ... if this wait behavior is gone...OK if not ... it could something to do with harddrive ... easy if you have another harddrive to check this , if not save your data and work on other media and recover to factory condition...
    overal there is no wait for key in BIOS should boot straight forward into OS without that press any key ...

  • How to read from a JTextField without hitting any key?

    Hi guys,
    I have a JTextField. If the user enters data into it, i would like to read it even if he doesn't hit any enter key or Tab key or anything else. Actually, in my application, user enters data in the TextField(he doesn't hit any other key)and that should automatically trigger a setter method? Is there any actionListener which can do this?

    Another way would be to use javax.swing.Timer class. This class will call the actionPerformed method every [milliseconds] (An argument in Timer's constructor). When actionPerformed is called every half-second or so, it can check for a change in the text field.

  • I was using my Mac and it started flashing white and didn't let me hit any keys or buttons. It didn't stop until I hit the power button on the back of the computer.

    I was wondering if what happened with my computer could be a virus or something else. It's only a few months old and it's never happened before.
    Thanks.

    It's not a virus. Don't seek a solution for a problem that doesn't exist. Pursuing that option will only lead to real problems.
    Contact AppleCare using the Contact Us link below right.
    Assuming that you restarted it and it appears to working properly again, I doubt they will have anything to offer, but you ought to create a case for future reference. It may never happen again, which means you will never know the reason. If it happens again though, even once, insist that Apple fix it.

  • Lenovo 11s - no bootable device, can't start up

     My computer froze a while back and then wouldnt turn back on. I managed to boot it into safe mode and retrieve my files, and then I attempted to recover the system using the nova button and system restore and it initially froze at about 34 per cent but now I can’t boot it at all and I’m not sure what I can try next. When I turn it on, it just says "no bootable device - hit any key".Even when I try the nova system recovery it says the same thing.  I had a usb with a bootable windows 7 on it but it doesnt seem to recognise that. I posted something similar about a month ago and was told to call the support line, but I am in China and I don't speak chinese so I don't know how I can fix it.  Is there somewhere I can take it where they would speak a little english? Or something I can download and do myself? I bought this in the UK about 6 months ago and never had a problem with it until this. Cheers guys.

    The BootCamp partition might be there but since it is not-bootable (due to the not-installed Windows) it's not shown in the 'Startup Volume' pfref pane.
    Use Disk Utility in OSX to check the partioning of your harddisk.
    Also, since you set your OSX to be the default bootable you don't have the luxury of an automatic boot into the Windows partition during the Windows installation.
    So, when Windows asked you to reboot your computer from the fresh Windows installation you have to use the Alt/Option-key and manually do it.
    In the end it might be easier to use the BootCamp Assistant and remove the made partition and then redo the partitioning and this time install Windows.

  • Windows partition wont' boot from internal secondary HDD? No bootable device error

    Here is my scenario: I previously had a 500GB bootcamped HDD in my 2012 macbook pro. The boot camp partition was running windows 7 and the mac partition was running 10.9. I replaced my original HDD with a 250GB SSD, took out my optical drive, and replaced that (op drive) with my original HDD. When i boot from the main drive, the SSD, it successfully recognizes the HDD with the 2 different partitions on it. But when I try to boot into my windows partition(on the HDD) by holding option at startup and selecting the windows partition, I keep getting a black screen "No bootable device. Insert boot disk and hit any key". I tried installing rEFIt, but still no luck. Here is the output from partition inspector:

    Please download Gdisk from http://sourceforge.net/projects/gptfdisk/ . You do not have a valid MBR on disk1 so Windows will not boot, even though you can see the volume in OS X Finder on the HDD.
    Use Gdisk to recreate a Hybrid MBR which includes GPT#4.

  • How to make a simple 'press  any key...'?

    I need to make a simple statement that will pause the screen, until you hit any key or click the mouse? 'press any key to continue...'
    is there a way to do it without any popup boxes?
    thanks

    System.in.read() will block until a key is hit (unfortunately the enter key counts produces 2 chars on windows...)
    So my suggestion is:
    BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(System.in));
    System.out.println("Press a key to continue....");
    br.readLine();HTH,

  • Please Wait Screen when I touch any key

    I believe that I am upgraded to windows 8.1, but I'm not entirely sure about that. I do have automatic updates on, so that is why I believe that I do. I have been having trouble getting an internet connection over the last week on boot up. A few days ago I used a reset command at the command prompt, restarted my computer and the connection was fine.
    Yesterday I decided that I would do something different because I still had no internet connection. I uninstalled my Qualcomm Atheros AR9845 wifi adapter software from the control panel and now that I'm writing this, I probably shouldn't have done that. The computer froze at the "finding a software to update with" window and I had to power off the computer. It booted up with no problems, though I had no chance of getting an internet connection now. Then I went on to uninstall the drivers for the wifi adapter. There were no drivers to be found, obviously, since I had no internet connection. I used another computer and found one for win 8, not realizing at the time that I had 8.1 as I believe, downloaded it, saved it to a flash drive, and then uploaded it to my internet connectionless computer. It said it was fine and I rebooted.
    Ever since I rebooted I have been stuck in a loop. Once it starts booting up it comes to a green screen with a Please Wait sign and it just spins then it goes to the welcome screen. If I click my mouse it goes to the Please Wait screen. If I touch a key on the keyboard it goes to the Please Wait screen. After 30 seconds or so it goes back to the welcome screen. On the welcome screen there is an icon with the monitor and cord with a red x where the internet connection usually shows. I know this means there is no network connection. I don't know if that has any relevance to the problem.
    I used my son's computer and made a flash drive reboot drive to get to the repair/recovery process, only that didn't work because it's not looking for it. This is when I realized I most likely had windows 8.1 because I couldn't make a repair/recovery disk. I had to use a flash drive when using his computer. Apparently that's a windows 8.1 thing. I have looked up everything I know to use as keywords to find a solution to this problem. I have seen a couple of similar issues, but they were old or didn't have quite the same problem. One was about static discharge and to unplug everything from your computer and even unplugging the power cord. Tried that. Didn't work. I am completely unable to get to anything where I can actually get into a screen because it goes to the Please Wait screen. I tried the safe mode from outside of windows trick for HP computers using the ESC key when it boots up. Guess what? The Please Wait screen. Every time I hit any key it just goes to the Please Wait screen. Right now I have a very expensive paper weight. It is completely unusable and I have no idea how to get to the troubleshooting screen since everything I do just takes me right back to the Please Wait screen.
    If anyone has any idea how to fix this, I would be absolutely grateful! I have included all that I know to include at this point.
    Thanks so much!
    Jill

  • Use Any key to activate a button

    HI,
    I was wondering if there is anyway to activate a button by
    hitting any key?
    Currently I have this code but it doesnt seem to work,
    var keyListener:Object = new Object();
    Key.addListener(keyListener);
    keyListener.onKeyDown = function() {
    processInput();
    my_btn.onPress = processInput;
    function processInput() {
    gotoAndStop("Scene 2", 1);
    Any help will be muchly appreciated

    EDIT : IGNORE THIS POST
    Ahh... so scene 2 is inside your button.... that explains it.
    Its working... but what is happening is that inside your
    processInput function your gotoAndStop is looking in different
    timelines. You can see the difference in the traces between when
    the keyListener calls it and when your button onPress handler calls
    it.
    I had assumed you wanted to move the button's parent timeline
    on... but it was the button's timeline that you wanted to change.
    (I just re-read your earlier post - you did say that but I missed
    it, sorry)
    try changing this:
    keyListener.onKeyDown = function() {
    processInput();
    to this:
    keyListener.onKeyDown = function() {
    my_btn.onPress();
    and you can get rid of the timeline variable.
    inside processInput:
    make it :
    this.gotoAndStop("Scene 2", 1)

    Believe it or not, it was the FireWire drive that was the problem! I managed to successfully install Windows 7 using an external USB DVD drive!
    Well I am truly staggered, I have tried this on two different MacBook Pros, with three different external USB optical drives. Don't know if you googled as I suggested but you would find hundreds of others who have found same thing. The exception is MacBook Air which works with the Apple writer, but I don't know much about this.

  • Installing Windows 7 on iMac via external superdrive resultes in "No bootable device-insert boot disck an dpress any key".

    I previously had Windows 7 on my Mac, but removed it after returning from deployment because it had a virus that I could not remove.  The only way to remove was to insert a CD/DVD with the anti-virus on, but in my absence, the optical drive was not cleaned and did not work. I had only been using partition for college, so I removed it.
    Now, six months later I am trying to re-instal Windows, but after creating the partition and inserting the disk into the external Superdrive, when Bootcamp reboots I get "No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key".  Nothing happens, I can't even type on the screen.  I can reboot to Mac via the alt-option key fine, and I can see the drives, the Windows CD, etcetera, but nothing works.  When I go back to Mac, Bootcamp won't work unless I delete the partition over from scratch, but I'm getting the same result.
    Is the computer looking for the internal optical drive (which doesn't work, and can only be repaired by sending the whole thing back to Apple)? Is there a way to default to the external optical drive?
    Thanks.

    Bob, thanks.  I misread the PDF (font on phones is difficult to see).  Got it fixed now.

    Error message comes on screen: No bootable device -- insert boot disk and press any key.  What do I do?

    Install or Reinstall Mavericks or Mountain Lion from Scratch
    Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
    OS X Mavericks- Erase and reinstall OS X
    OS X Mountain Lion- Erase and reinstall OS X
    OS X Lion- Erase and reinstall Mac OS X
    Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
                because it is three times faster than wireless.
    If the above is not possible or failes, then replace your hard drive.
