V3, Worksheet hanging, 800MB Mem Usage

In version 3, after a period of time, SQL Developer starts putting CPU to 50% for a few seconds (I'm on a dual core machine) and the Worksheet hangs, this is really frustrating to work with, is there a fix?
Also, previous versions of SQL Developer used to average at 700-750MB mem usage, version 3 is averaging 800MB+, even when all connections and worksheets are closed! Is memory usage even being looked at?

Is that v3.0.04.34 production? Else get that one.
Regards,
K.

  • Jdev 11G 1.0.2 mem usage keeps growing

    For your information:
Besides the lock up factor if you walk away for a bit... I am now also having the mem usage grow from 256,000 to 524,000k over 2 hours working on basic jsp screen design. It makes it very unresponsive, requiring a restart of Jdev.

Use a minimum of 2GB machine. Try with these settings:
    2GB machine:
    /ide/bin/ide.conf
    AddVMOption -Xmx1232M
    AddVMOption -Xms64M
    /jdev/bin/jdef.conf

  • Mem usage vs Virtual Memory Size

    Hi Gents!
I have java server application and it has strange behaviour in memory management after one day of uptime. Windows Task Manages shows me Mem Usage=136m, Peak Mem Usage=342m, VM Size=557m. And Java Visual VM shows Heap Size=160m, PermGen=32m.
Do anyone have ideas how to deallocate Virtual Memory to decrease it size?
    JVM parameters:
    -Xms32m

This happened after i update firefox newest update about 2 week ago, when i opened 4 tabs or more after several times firefox freeze then continue, after that crash and and message appear contact microsoft not monzilla, i think my sytem error so i reinstall my windows and download new firefox, but still crash... i checked mem Usage is very high, it's never happened at older version even i opened 7 or 8 tabs, so please fix it at next version.. for info i use old P4 with 256mb mem and windowsXp sp2 system ... no viruses on my PC because protect by Kapersky and AVG and fresh after reinstall !!
    == This happened ==
    Every time Firefox opened

256 MB RAM is very low. Add some if you can; RAM is really not very expensive.
My P4 XP system (with 1.5GB RAM) routinely shows Firefox running 150-200 MB of usage with 20 or so tabs (no active content like Flash running). With only 256 MB, your system is using the swap file (aka, virtual memory, in the form of hard drive file) and slowing your system down.
AVG Safe Search has recently been linked to high high CPU usage and crashes in Firefox. See:

  • 800MB RAM Usage with nothing running?

I am pretty confused, my MacBook seems to be using a lot of memory with nothing significant running. I've cleaned all caches, and ran all the maintenance scripts, but from shutdown to restart, with nothing running (not even dashboard), it shows over 800MB of RAM in use. 250MB of that is wired, 750MB is active. I've checked my login items, and there's nothing that would cause such a large usage of RAM running. Even when I start the Activity Monitor, it doesn't even list anything using so much RAM. There's like 20-40MB RAM for the kernel task, window server and default stuff like that.
Basically there seems to be a large amount of RAM used that I have no idea what is using it. Any clue at all what could be causing this?

So you have 800 MBs of RAM in use. Why is that a problem? See the following:
About OS X Memory Management and Usage
Reading system memory usage in Activity Monitor
Memory Management in Mac OS X
Performance Guidelines- Memory Management in Mac OS X
A detailed look at memory usage in OS X
Understanding top output in the Terminal
The amount of available RAM for applications is the sum of Free RAM and Inactive RAM. This will change as applications are opened and closed or change from active to inactive status. The Swap figure represents an estimate of the total amount of swap space required for VM if used, but does not necessarily indicate the actual size of the existing swap file. If you are really in need of more RAM that would be indicated by how frequently the system uses VM. If you open the Terminal and run the top command at the prompt you will find information reported on Pageins () and Pageouts (). Pageouts () is the important figure. If the value in the parentheses is 0 (zero) then OS X is not making instantaneous use of VM which means you have adequate physical RAM for the system with the applications you have loaded. If the figure in parentheses is running positive and your hard drive is constantly being used (thrashing) then you need more physical RAM.

  • Frequent iMac 3.06 hangs during iTunes usage

I have an iMac 3.06Ghtz with 4GB RAM, 1TB and find I get random system freezes every few days.
There is not one thing I can do to replicate the problem, but I'm sure it's iTunes related.
It first started about 2 months ago when I was buying albums for download. Some downloads would complete, but then on some tracks it would hang. Upon restarting and trying again, some of the files would not be there to retry, so I'd have to ask Apple support to re-enable them. This eventually seemed to be sorted out in the last couple of iTunes updates.
However, I still find that when iTunes starts playing a new track, often a few seconds in, iTunes stops and becomes unresponsive. It's completely random when it does this. After rebooting, playing the same track does not cause a hang!
Finder appears ok to start with, but I can't launch any new programs and anything I now click on will hang.
I can't bring up the force quit dialog. I can't even log in remotely via terminal to kill any processes.
I have no choice but to do a hard reset every time.
Upon reboot, there is no crash report notification and nothing obvious in the console.
    Things I've tried
    - Archive and reinstall
    - Repair disk / repair permissions
    - Re-install iTunes
    - Removed all startup programs
    - Hardware test (no problems)
    - Removed all USB devices
I've had Macs for a few years now, but this is really bugging me because there's no logical thing to try to sort it out. Especially as it was the most expensive iMac available at the time! I've never had to reboot a computer as often as this in my whole IT career. Argghhh!
Does anyone have any ideas please? Thanks.

Try creating a new admin user account in System Preference Accounts pane.
Log out and log in to the new account. Do you have the same issue in the new user account?
If you do, there is a general system or hardware issue that needs to be further assessed.
If you do not, there is a problem in your current main user account. You can continue to troubleshoot while narrowing the possibilities to something in your account, or you can transition to a new account.
Note: An +Archive and Install+ will not fix a user account-related problem, because it preserves your existing user accounts.

  • Using FF 12 32-bit in Windows 7 Pro 64-bit cause high mem usage

AVG gave an alert msg saying "detected high memory usage.
    256 MB".
It suggest to close and open again.
Also I notice highest page fault.
I didn't do anything, just continue to surf as usual.
I have 4 GB of RAM.
Do I need to be concern about this?
Is there a solution to fix this?
    Thanks.

256MB of Ram isn't really "high" (depending on what you are doing). To put it into perspective. You aren't even using a 16th of your available RAM. AVG is a very poor system optimizer and anti-virus, and often provides false positives.
You can try doing things like uninstalling add-ons you don't use: [[Disable or remove Add-ons]]
Update your graphics Driver: [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL]]
Install all Windows Updates, and then test again.
How many tabs and what were you doing when you received this alert? Did Firefox continue to run normally?
You can view at any time how much memory Firefox is using by typing about:memory into the address bar.

after the installation of flash 10.1 and also the old versions of flash , the cpu usage and the memory usage is very huge. Nearly %40 percent or more of cpu is used by safari flash plug in .
Can apple find a solution for this issue ???

Can apple find a solution for this issue ???
I doubt it, their solution is don't use it... although you'd hope that adobe are trying a bit. Apple plan to ship all macs w/o Flash, even if they are capable of running it.

  • Random System Hangs - 100 % SSD Usage

I'm having some significant issues with a new PC build. I have a 240 gb Ultra II.  I have 8.1 installed on it, as well as a few other programs (I'm at 182 GB free).  Now, at random times when I'm using my system, everything will suddenly hang.  All programs become unresponsive, the mouse sometimes locks up, ctrl+alt+delete won't do anything, etc.  This lasts for about 30 seconds, then everything usually returns to normal.  I leave task manager open at all times now, and it shows that during these hangs, my SSD "active time" jumps to and stays at 100%. These hangs don't seem to be linked to specific software.  They occur randomly, even when my computer is under no significant load.  I've already tried a clean install of 8.1.  I've tried disabling superfetch/prefetch and other background system processes.  I'm very confident that I am free of any viruses/malware.  I'm suspecting some sort of hardware issue, but the SanDisk Dashboard shows that my disk health is fine.  My firmware is also up to date. Has anyone had similar issues?  Any advice or thoughts?

Hi Deponia, Thanks for the suggestions.  I've already tried a complete format and reinstallation of windows, and the issue still recurred.  I've also tried a repair installation from the windows disc, and that also did not eliminate the issue. After a couple google searches, I'm not seeing much about compatibility issues with the motherboard.  I have an AsRock H97 Pro4. I'll try to contact sandisk support.  I'm getting advice on other forums as well, I'm going to try increasing my virtual memory.

  • My debian-arch comparison and mem usage

Hi all, I'm a long time debian user and trying arch was itching. The recent signed package feature convinced me to try it.
It installed flawlessly, reminded me of gentoo many years ago, without the waiting.
I'm surprised that xfce uses more memory than my similar minimal debian (testing) install (on both setups I have xfce4, alsa, and not much more).
Under debian I use ~140M once Xfce is started, against 200 for arch (~70 processes running on arch vs 100ish on debian).
Surprised why this is the case. Anybody has an idea?
    Pros I found:
    very detailed wiki.
    pacman is fast!
wine installed without sweat... unlike debian.
I installed some aur packages (fpdb: a poker hud) and the install was easy.
Unfortunately it seems there's  a difference arch-other distros regarding python (python2)
and fpdb doesn't like it. There was a hack suggested in the aur but it no longer works with the latest fpdb version.
Given this seems an arch specific issue, fpdb devs seem not concerned (not blaming them) about it (I guess this is a cons of smaller distros).
Tried playing around but haven't found a fix (yet).

  • High mem usage by mshttp

Has anyone seen a high memory usage problem with the mshttp process. Mine has gone up to 3 gig of used memory since installing jes2005Q4. Any help would be great.

Well, I do find bug 2098460, mshttpd memory leak using https. This bug refers back to bug 5043246,
I see that integrated into late 6.1 patches. If you're using 6.2 (jes 2005q1) or later, you shouldn't be seeing this. If you're still on 6.1, get a late patch....

  • FF401 is taking 215MB of RAM with one tab open can mem usage be made smaller?

System 256MB RAM, PIII, XP PRO, SR3 and all current updates applied. Just installed FF401 and it is taking up most all my memory. Every time I open a new tab FF increases mem size by 10-20MB. Currently one tab open and FF uses 215MB on www.justin.tv

Ok, I found the solution (for at least my boxes!) Yay!
The trouble is that Firefox changed the amount of HTTP connections it permits simultaneously from 30 (pre version 6) up to 256 for version 7. Each connection uses CPU and Memory!!!!!
I won't ponder why they did that, but the fix is easy:
Lower the max number of HTTP connections
In the Location bar, type about:config and press Enter.
The about:config "This might void your warranty!" warning page may appear. Click I'll be careful, I promise!, to continue to the about:config page.
In the Filter box at the top, type network.http.max-connections.
Double-click on the network.http.max-connections preference, the "Enter integer value" dialog box will open.
In the field, type 30 which was the default value in old versions of Firefox and click OK.
My version 7.0.1 firefox suddenly started working! Yay!

  • Cpu usage hang to 100%

Hi, we have a web application that after sometime hangs the serveur to 100% usage

It looks to me that it's just dealing with ACL and security issues, do you think
it may hang the CPU usage?I don't know... It depends on what the thread is doing. I don't see any
thread doing anything busy... I do see problems:
