V4.2 error: Short term data storage is full
Hope someone here can help. We are still using 4.2 for now.
Upon logging into Admin, we are receiving an error stating "PLANNING short term data storage is full, do you want to optimize the application?". When checking the appset status the application only has about 400 records in short term storage. We have tried saving the application immediately followed by optimization, yet this error continues.
Any thoughts on how to rectify this?
Thank you.
So you have scheduled a lite optimize or full optimize where you are specifying the number of records from where the optimize is necessary.
This number is probably very small between 0 and 400 and every time when you are connecting with admin module you are receiving this message.
So you have to change that number to be 40000 not more and you will not receive any more that message when you have 400 records you will receive the message when you will have over 40000.
You can find the parameter also into tbldefault table from your appset.
I don't remember the name of parameter but you will manage to find out this parameter.

Short Term Battery Storage and Transportation
Hello, I just bought a second MBP battery because the 3 hours that my main was was giving me wasnt long enough to last my school day. I was wondering how one would package the battery so that I could carry it around with me without it exploding on me. And secondly, the bottom/or top (whichever way you look at it seems like its an exposed metal peice (the one with the serial numbers and stuff. Is it bad to make a lot of contact with that part?
Sounds like the tech was misinterpreting. According to this source, 40% charge in a refrigerator is good for long-term storage, but freezing is FORBIDDEN.
So 40%-50% charge, cold but NOT frozen. -
ADI0052E: TSM API Error: ANS1311E (RC11) Server out of data storage space
Hello guys,
I have a problem with the backup on MaxDB. It always fails with the following error message
ADI0052E: TSM API Error: ANS1311E (RC11) Server out of data storage space
Has anyone faced this problem before? Any solution how could this be solved?
Thanks for your help.
Regards,
DanHi Dan,
Check the TSM server and make sure the primary storage pool that is defined
as your copy destination for the management class you are using is not full
and or you have not run out of scratch tapes. In either case a storage pool
has filled up and cannot migrate data causing the RC11. This is usually what
an RC11 Server out of data storage space means.
I am sharing configuration for Oracle database. You can check similar configuration for MaxDB database.
when i defined the node in my tsm server :
REG NODE hostname_oracle password maxnummp=2, it was defined in standard storage pool, i moved it in other storage.
Hope this is useful.

Im in the middle of a rather large migration and a few users are see the below error when trying to log in to OWA:
X-OWA-Error: SDServerErr;Microsoft.Exchange.Data.Storage.StoragePermanentExceptionI cant find much on this error other than the enable inheritance permissions fix which all these accounts already have.Has anyone else come across this before?Hi
This problem occurs because the discretionary access control list (DACL) inheritance is disabled on the user account in Active Directory. The Exchange Servers group must have permissions
to write the msExchUserCulture attribute on the user when the language has been specified in OWA.
To resolve this problem, follow these steps:
1. Open Active Directory Users and Computers.
2. Click View, and then click Advanced Features.
Note To make the Security tab available at both the user level and the organizational unit level, you must enable the Advanced Features option in Active Directory Users and Computers. This option is available under the View menu.
3. Open the properties for both the user level and the organizational unit level that the users are located in, and then locate the Security tab.
4. Click Advanced.
5. Make sure that the following check box is selected:
Allow inheritable permissions from the parent to propagate to this object and all child objects. Include these with entries explicitly defined here.
6. Force Active Directory replication.
Remember to mark as helpful if you find my contribution useful or as an answer if it does answer your question. That will encourage me - and others - to take time out to help you -
what is error data storage at XI? Also provide me the details along with screeshot.
Hi Shweta,
All error log's stored at following location.
i,e /usr/sap/X01(system id)/DVBMGS000/j2ee/cluster/dispatcher/log.
wher u can find system and default trace.
u can saw all error log's at that location.

When I run the Read Meas.vi, it has error if I do not turn off the data storage. The same thing happen when I run the App. Example. vi. Anyone knows how to solve this problem? Thanks alot.
KLLoganS wrote:
Hi KL,
The Read Meas.vi is one of the subvi's in the App. Example.vi, so this problem is most likely the same problem in each case. From the help for Read Meas.vi:
Data Storage instructs the device to store the data to be sent to either the internal or external buffer. If TRUE (default), the VI stores data in the on mode. If FALSE, the VI does not retain data in the off mode. Use the off mode only with the average min/max operation when you do not need to retrieve data. You cannot configure the meter for external buffering in the off mode.
So the question is, are you trying to retrieve any data? If so, then as indicated in the above paragraph, you cannot retrieve data and have the data storage turned off. Good luck!
Logan S.
Yes, I need to retrieve data. So due to that problem, I cannot really get any data. I am not sure is that problem is due to the USB GPIB or not. But once I click on the click arrow, everying goes fine from initialise, measurment... once it comes to Read measurment, it has error (say somthing like: VISA Wait on Event for RQS.vi->HP34401A Read Meas.vi->Untitled 1) I have no idea like what it shows up.

I can not take pictures or even back my phone up due to error message not enough storage I have went into manage storage and turned all my apps to off and I still get error. I also have deleted a ton of pictures and apps.

Cache Memory Allocator \ Short Term Memory Allocator Issues
Hi all
I have a number of identically configured (High School) Servers which are giving me the same memory errors (some more frequently than others) and I've run out of ideas.
They are all HP Proliant DL360 G6 Servers, NetWare 6.5 sp8 with eDir 8.8 sp5.
The error messages are :
"Cache memory allocator out of available memory." followed by "Short term memory allocator is out of memory. xxx attempts to get more memory failed. request size in bytes xxxxxxxx from Module SWEEP.NLM"
The module referred to is always "SWEEP.NLM" (Sophos Anti-virus). A Server reset solves the problem but it is normally back within a month.
I've posted below a config.txt and segstats.txt from one of the servers.
I would be grateful if someone could help me with this as it's now becoming a 'headache'.
Cheers
Neil Hughes

Somewhat. From the time of day, and the loading of commvault modules
inbetween, this looks like a combined backup / AV scan issue. The
requests of Sophos are comparably big in size, and they vary a lot. That
will lead to fragmentation of your memory, until the memory can't be
allocated in one chunk any more. It also *seems* as if Sophos actually
scans the data while it gets backed up. That is *bad*.

Run time error (short dump) executing program SCAN_BW_REFERENCES in SE80
Hi experts,
I am not an ABAPer, or Basis person, rather a hybrid functional/technical Key User for our Business Warehouse system (BW 3.5, Netweaver 2004). We have a user who cannot save BW reports to his favorites and he is getting a number of error messages. OSS note 887002 seems to address this and indicates that I should run program SCAN_BW_REFERENCES from transaction SE80. The program is supposed to perform the checks for BW objects assigned to the Favorites and identify situations causing terminations in BW frontend applications. I have attempted to execute this program on several occassions and always get run-time errors (short dumps). Here is the error:
Runtime Errors TSV_TNEW_PAGE_ALLOC_FAILED
Date and Time 2008.09.17 19:00:49
ShrtText
No storage space available for extending an internal table.
What happened?
You attempted to extend an internal table, but the required space was
not available.
I have been informed by our Basis group that I have reached a memory limit, but they will not extend the memory paramters. Any ideas on a work-a-round or a way to minimize the number of records this program is pulling in, in an attempt to get it to run?
Thanks,
HCHi,
The only response I got from Basis was that they would not extend the memory parameters because they are for all users in the system. Not sure what that means.
The full dump is too large to paste here. I think what I will do is to see if our ABAPers can create a modified version of this program to include selection by user. Typically it is for only one user that I need to run the program, and that surely would fall within the space requirements.
Thanks for your answer.

Backup system aimed at short term small local backups
I was wondered if there are any backup systems aimed at short term backups for usually small changes. A few times in the past I've done boneheaded things to a single or just a few files and OS X's Time Machine has been amazingly helpful here.
If I go Google'ing for backup solutions what i find are solutions aimed at locking large amounts data in cold storage at a remote location for all eternity in case of a hardware failure or a datacenter burning down. Those systems obviously have their place and I do use one (or well, I'm working on learning to use it effectively) but what I'd also like is something that addresses problems that exist between the chair and the keyboard. Is there a good way to have a sort of "undo button" for the last few second to an hour? I'd be plenty happy to trade hard disk access speed for this ability.
As an example, Vim's recent persistent undo feature is something that I've found incredibly useful (although I do worry that I'm starting to rely on it as a crude version control system).
Is there some class of software aimed at this issue? (Or should I just stop making mistakes?khouli wrote:Did you try any other solutions besides attic? Thoughts on them?
I've used lots. rdiff-backup and rsnapshot used to be good - they're mostly the same, just one pulls backup to a central server (rsnapshot) while the other runs on each client and pushes to your backup location (rdiff-backup). Each has it's place. Back-in-time -- eh, I'm not a fan of GUI backups. Duplicity was too complicated for backups (personal preference, I don't need 90% of what it is capable of). Dar doesn't really seem to provide much over tarballs. Obnam was quite good, but I ended up with attic which seemed 'cleaner'. Bacula is wayyyy too complicated. I'm rather fond of urBackup for certain environments, particularly ones with Windows laptops.
khouli wrote:...bup can't prune old backups.
Being git based, that makes sense.
This is the one thing I keep showing people about attic that is damn impressive. I'm backing up a Synology NAS (over CIFS) using attic. The data is our design department. Here are the stats for our last backup:
Original size Compressed size Deduplicated size
This archive: 598.21 GB 400.34 GB 909.63 kB
All archives: 13.07 TB 8.75 TB 206.71 GB
13 terabytes of backups (currently going back to Feburary) in ~200gb on disk after it's been deduplicated and compressed. And yes, we have successfully restored multiple times (design people seem prone to "accidentally" deleting their own work :-/) -

It seems that server.nlm is growing without limits. When tat occurs, I have the mentioned errors.
Though NWMKDE seems to have grown. It remains steady around the showed values.
I'm not brave enough to apply the memcalc's recommended fixes because the following line:
set file cache maximum size=822083584
returns an error saying the minimun value should be 1073741824.
Can someone help me because I'm completely blind here.
Thanks in advance.
GabrielI take it this is primarily a database server, in which case it's OK that Btrieve is using so much memory? You wouldn't want this to be a general file server too. Is the memory error causing any actual problem?
Server is asking for only 1mb, and due to fragmentation there is little free memory (actually 2mb left, which is a little odd, but neither here nor there).
Also, let's see your bti.cfg, which is the Btrieve config file. I'll paste in below an ArcServe TID on Btrieve using excessive memory:
Symptoms
Btrieve was upgraded to version 8.5 during the installation of ARCserve r11.1. The cachesize in the BTI.cfg microkernel section is at 20 MB (20480). (Pervasive would like this setting placed to 20% of the server memory or database size which ever is less.) The server will keep adding 20 additional Megs of memory to the total amount of memory the server is using for database transactions after each backup job. This can be verified by performing the following at the server console:
LOAD MONITOR
Scroll down to System Resources under Available Options and hit enter.
Scroll down to Alloc Memory (Bytes) and hit enter.
Locate NWMKDE.nlm in the Resource Tags list.
Sort by memory bytes and you will slowly see nwmkde.nlm move to the top of the usage list. Unless the server is rebooted the small memory allocations stays at the increased amount.
Explanation
Starting with Btrieve version 8.5 and higher, Pervasive has been working to make the Btrieve database more dynamic. They have created a two-tier memory allocation approach. The first level is controlled by the cache size setting in the BTI.cfg. If this becomes inadequate, the second level will be accessed. The default setting for the second level is 60% of the server's total memory.
The following line in the BTI.cfg will control the second level of memory caching:
MaxCacheUsage=60; default is 60% of memory.
An example would be a server with 100 MB of memory and the following settings in sys:\system\bti.cfg:
[microkernel]
cachesize=20480
MaxCacheUsage=60
This will cause the nwmkde.nlm to use 20 MB (20480) of memory initially and grow up to 60 percent of the total server memory or 60 MB.
Now you also have to throw Max worker threads into the mix. A setting of Max worker threads = 3 in the BTI.cfg > Btrieve Communications Manager section will also use server memory. It will use 1 MB per thread. In this example, 3 Megs of additional memory will be used. That will bring the total amount of memory used by nwmkde.nlm to 20 MB (20480) + 3 MB = 23 MB when the server is first booted. After running some backups, this number could go up to as high as 60 MB (60% of server memory) if the server dynamically requires it.
Resolution
The MaxCacheUsage=60 setting must be set down from this 60% number. Pervasive recommends setting this from 0 to 20. The server needs to be rebooted for this change to take effect. -

TREX - Configuring Distributed Slave with Decentralized Data Storage
I am creating a distributed TREX environment with decentralized data storage with 3 hosts. The environment is running TREX 7.10 Rev 14 on Windows 2003 x64. These are the hosts:
Server 01p: 1st Master NameServer, Master Index Server, Master Queue Server
Server 02p: 2nd Master NameServer, Slave Index Server
Server 03p: Slave NameServer, Slave Index Server (GOAL; Not there yet)
The first and second hosts are properly set up, with the first host creating the index and replicating the snapshot to the slave index server for searching. The third host is added to the landscape. When I attempt to change the role of the third host to be a slave for the Master IS and run a check on the landscape, I receive the following errors:
check...
wsaphptd03p: file error on 'wsaphptd03p:e:\usr\sap\HPT\TRX00\_test_file_wsaphptd02p_: The system cannot find the file specified'
wsaphptd02p: file error on 'wsaphptd02p:e:\usr\sap\HPT\TRX00\_test_file_wsaphptd03p_: The system cannot find the file specified'
slaves: select 'Use Central Storage' for shared slaves on central storage or change base path to non shared location
The installs were all performed in the same with, with storage on the "E:" drive using a local install on the stand-alone installation as described in the TREX71InstallMultipleHosts and TREX71INstallSingleHosts guides provided.
Does anybody know what I should try to do to resolve this issue to add the third host to my TREX distributed landscape? There really weren't any documents that gave more information besides the install documents.
Thanks for any help.A ticket was opened with SAP customer support. The response to that ticket is below:
Many thanks for the connection. We found out, that the error message is wrong. It can be ignored, if you press 'Shift' and button 'Deploy' (TREXAdmin tool -> Landscape Configuration). We will fix this error in the next Revision (Revision 25) for TREX 7.1. -
File path of open data storage
Hello all!
Now I'm using the blocks of open data storage, write data and close data storage for storing and extracting result data. For the file path issue, before I
set the data path by double clicking the "open data storage" block and inserting the file location in the indicated place, and that worked!
Now since I made a stand alone application of this program and shall use it in other computers, the file location I inserted in open data storage block isn't
valid any more in other PCs. So I modified my source code by connecting a "current vi path" to the open data storage block's file path node instead of
inserting it inside the block, and this doesn't work! During running there shows an error in the write data block saying that the storage refnum isn't valid!
I'm wondering why I couldn't specify the file path like this. Any way to allow me to specify the file path as the current vi path?
Thanks!
Chao

propertyDefinitions)I had this same issue, except I have Symantec mail security not Forefront. It wound up being a line in the adult content filter. For whatever reason, they included "If you received this email" as one of the literal strings. This is probably part
of almost every corporate confidentiality clause I have ever seen!! go figure......
Thanks for the event log hint- since I have the adult content set to delete, I had no good tracking mechanism in Exhange or SMSME. I set email notifications for the future on these.

I had this same problem, but I have ESET Mail Security Server. in some one case the problem y solved if I attach the "user@domain" in the "white
List". But in many case the problem is continuous. I have Exchange 2007 in MS Windows Server 2003.
Thanks for yours help.
