Hi Ajit,
Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!
I’m sorry to hear that your V470 Laptop is not booting to Windows, please let know if you are able to view Lenovo Logo while you try to turn ON the computer I suggest you to perform the Flee-Power and BIOS reset. Below are the steps to check and resolve the issue:
Remove the battery and any other peripheral device connected to the computer.
Hold the power button for 10-15 seconds and then connect only the AC Adapter and try to turn ON the computer.
Hope to hear back soon
Best Regards

  • My wife new macbook pro 5 months old does not start, it shows the power blinking , but no boot

    hi,
my wife just bought a new macbook pro few months ago, and it sat on her desk , safe and without being moved around.
yesterday night the fans were blowing air like jet engines , but this morning it would not start again.
do you think we still can have it fixed my apple?it did not fall down or something, it sat on her desk.

Since this is a new machine and under warranty, simply go to Apple and let them handle it.

  • My Mac book will power up but the apple sign remains in the middle of the screen and a gear turning below it -nothing else happens -can you help?

my Mac book will power up but the apple sign remains in the middle of the screen and a gear turning below it -nothing else happens -can you help?

A couple of things to try:
PRAM reset by holding down cmd-opt-p-r on restart. Hold down the keys until you hear the second startup tone.
If you have a wireless keyboard, wait until you hear the startup tone, then press the keys.

Boot into Safe Mode by holding down Shift key on restart. Same timing applies to wireless keyboard.
Safe Mode takes a while to boot. It will show a progress bar. It will boot to the login screen. Log in, then restart normally.

Boot into Recovery HD by holding down cmd-r. Same note for wireless keyboard.  Once booted, run Disk Utility and repair Macintosh HD (or whatever you have renamed it).

  • When waking up from standby, monitors power up but no picture is displayed. HP ENVY Phoenix h9

Product: HP ENVY Phoenix h9 PC Series
    Product #: H3Y51AA#BL
    Model: h9-1387
    OS: Windows 8 64-bit
    Monitors: DELL 2407WFPHC x 2
Updated graphics drivers to latest non-beta version.
    Hello,
Since purchasing my PC a few months ago, there has been one "display" problem after another. This is the current problem:
When stepping away from my computer, I lock it via Win+L and shortly after my monitors turn off. When returning a short time later, I attempt to wake up (But not really "wake up"... To try and fix previous display problems, I've already disabled hibernation and sleep options) my computer by moving my mouse. This causes the monitors to exit standby and power up, but all that is dispalyed is black screens when I should have been presented with the login screen.
Mouse and keyboard clicks do nothing and I'm stuck at black screens. To continue, I press my PC's power button which causes the hard drives to spin-up and shortly after the computer turns off. I press the power button again and the computer boots to the login screen where once I enter my password, Windows loads and all my programs etc are displayed as they were before I locked my PC.
You can see previous problems I've had listed below, hopefully they will also help you detect the cause of the current problem.
    Please help.
    Thanks!
    Peter
    Previous problems that I've had:
    1) When waking from hibernation, the computer would not wake monitors from standby leaving no way to login and save work. Hard reboot required. Solution: Disable Windows hibernation features.
    2) Error along the lines of "Display driver failed and have recovered". Possible solution: Disabled hardware acceleration in Firefox.
    3) When waking from standby, I find my 2 monitors have merged into one, and at a different resolution than normal. Once entering password to login, programs that were on seperate monitors are now on the same monitor. Right-clicking the desktop and selecting "Screen Resolution" -> "Detect" would set the monitors back to normal until the problem occurs again. Possible solution: Updated graphics card driver. Not sure if this problem has been fixed, it may have just been covered up by the new problem mentioned above.
    This question was solved.

    Hey peterallcdn,
I'm sorry you're running into this resuming from sleep issue. Sometimes services that are trying to resume can cause issues like this. I would suggest trying a clean boot (booting with only essential system services running) and then seeing if it resumes from sleep properly.
Here are the steps to disable non-critical services:
    1. Windows + Q to bring up Search
    2. Type 'msconfig' and press Enter
    3. Click the Services Tab
    4. Check the Hide All Microsoft Services box
    5. Click the Disable All button
    6. Click Apply and Restart
When you restart Windows should only load essential system services, no 3rd party software. Lock the computer and let it go into sleep mode as you usually do and then try to resume from sleep. Let  me know what the result of that is.
I have seen other cases where Google Talk or antivirus programs will prevent the computer from resuming properly.

  • External Firewire drives power up, but won't mount.

I wanted to see if anyone else is having this problem. I recently upgraded my mom's laptop to OSX Lion after she experienced a lot of problems with Snow Leopard. All updates available from Software Update have been installed. Now 2 issues have arisen after the new install: 1) the FW 800 and 400 ports appear to be non-functional, and 2) the OS takes about 10 minutes to boot up to the desktop.
    1) Regarding the FW ports: I have a couple external Firewire 800 hard drives that I use on other Macs so I know they're fully operational and mount without any issues. They're both 5400RPM drives that have been inserted into Macally external enclosures, and are of different capacities - one is 320GB and the other is 500GB. The enclosures offer FW 800, 400, USB 2.0 and mini-USB connectivity. But after upgrading the laptop I mentioned, neither of the drives will mount when using the FW 800 or 400 cables. They power up but won't mount, and they don't show up in the list in Disk Utility. However, the drives will power up and mount via USB.
I realize the laptop may have a hardware/port problem - but both 800 and 400 ports? Seems unlikely.
    2) Any idea why it's taking the OS 10 minutes to boot up? I've shut down the laptop and rebooted it twice since the OS install, and both times took 10 minutes.
I may just install Lion on one of the hard drives, pull it and then pop it into the laptop to see if that makes any difference. Before I do that, can anyone recommend a hardware utility that can check the ports?
    I welcome your suggestions.
    Thank you.

Thanks for responding. Here's the info you requested. I'm not a systems guy so hopefully I've pasted in something that helps.

  • Can the new Power Mac (late 2013) boot up in OS X 10.6.7?

I am planning on buying the new "trashcan" Power Mac but I'm wondering if that machine will boot up from an external drive running OS X 10.6.7?  Although I currently use the most up to date operating system (10.9.1) I have some older software that I need to use, from time to time, like Mac The Ripper, Appleworks, some old 80s video games, etc. and I sure appreciate being able to boot up in the old operating system to use that software.  I'd hate to lose the ability to do that.  Anybody?

    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2295#ROSETTALION
is a tip that may help in your migration, as 10.6 server will still work with Rosetta and old Mac OS X PowerPC software that doesn't require special drivers and will hopefully work with the Mac Pro in question.   I would enquire in the Mac Pro forum to see if anyone has tried it on the new Mac Pro.
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-2295
will help in the overall migration.
If you can't get confirmation that 10.6 server works on the new Mac Pro, getting a pre-July 20, 2011 Mac Pro is probably a better idea, as then you can at least ask AppleCare for the original discs of 10.6 to run on the Mac Pro.  If it is pre-August 28, 2009, any retail installer of 10.6 will work.

  • Quicksilver trying to power on, but cannot.....

My Quicksilver G4 has a recently installed 30GB hard drive. It also has new RAM installed (512MB). I tried to power up the computer: The button lights up fo a second or two, I can hear slight whirring from the inside (as if it is trying to power on), but it stops and the light fades out quickly after that. I never get any farther. I tried resetting the PRAM on the logic board and disconnecting the hard drive, but it does not help anything. Could a monitor adapter cause this if I connected an older Powermac 9600 monitor to it? Please help. I want my G4 back up and running...

    Hi, Ely970 -
    Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
    Try resetting the PMU -
    Article #HT1939 - Resetting CUDA/PMU
Also, if you've never replaced the machine's internal battery, that may have become too weak or dead. The expected life of that battery is 4 to 5 years under best-case circumstances; one that's too weak or dead can cause booting problems. You can get a replacement at places like RadioShack for about US$17, cheaper on-line.
It is possible that when you were inside the machine (new hard drive, new RAM) you may have dislodged one of the internal cables. Make sure those are well-seated in their connectors.
Make sure the new RAM is firmly seated in its socket - the little plastic fingers at the ends of the slot should be pushed to vertical when the RAM module is all the way in.
When you installed the new hard drive, did you confirm its jumpers were set properly? That model does not handle Cable Select well. It's better to use the Master or Slave jumper settings, as appropriate: with only one drive, use Master; with two drives, set one to Master and the other to Slave. Exception - Western Digital (WD) drives often have a third jumper position, Single, which is to be used when the drive is the only one on the bus.

  • X1 Carbon Touch: have to push the power button twice to boot the system

This is what always happened when I booted up the computer:
First time when I pressed the power button, the computer was on for just 2-3 seconds showing the "Lenovo" logo, and then automatically went back to power-off with nothing happened further.
And then I pressed the power button again, the computer booted and loaded the operating system without any problem.
Even though I'm able to start the computer in this way eventually, it is very annoying.  It happens every time when I cold started the system (no such a problem if I simply restart the computer).  Anyone knows why I have to push the power button twice to boot the system?  I suspect it's something related to the rapid start technology, but cannot locate the exact reason.  Anyone else has the similar problem?  I have a Windows 8.1 now, but the problem existed when I was still using Windows 8.  After I upgraded to 8.1, the problem still exists.

  • Laptop loses power and won't boot

I have an Aspire V5-573G running Windows 10 Home 64bit, but I experienced the same problem while running Windows 8.1 Home 64bit.
I leave the PC on or off, come back a few hours later. The power indicator light don't shine if left off, shine orange if left on. The charging indicator lights blue if charging, else not.
I press the power button, both lights turn off and it does not boot.
I tried holding the power button down for 30 seconds, disconnect and reconnect the power adaptor, tap the power button, etc. The laptop seems dead.
I open up the laptop and disconnect the battery and reconnect it instantly. The laptop boots.
This issue repeats itself every time and it does not matter whether I have it connected to the power adaptor, leave it on or off, sleep mode or awake.
Since the lights do shine until I press the power button to wake/boot it up, I'm assuming it cease to respond once I do press the power button.
    Help?

After additional tests I've noticed the following:
The hold-power-button-for-30-seconds trick works if, and only if, the battery is disconnected. When the laptop loses power as described in the original post, and the battery has been disconnected, I disconnect the power adaptor, hold the power button for 30 seconds, connect the adaptor and the laptop boots.
If the battery is connected, this trick does not work.

  • V100 Power Problem, Won't Boot/Startup

My 3000 V100 will not boot. When I press the power button it powers up for about 5 seconds, the battery light and the circle with a Z through it turn green, then when it goes to start the screen it flashes on (but remains black) and then the whole things dies. Sometimes there is a tone (beep) from the motherboard.
This happens all the time, I have tried plugging in a monitor, closing the lid and without the battery (AC power only) but its is always the same.
    Please Help.

Yes. As I wrote in my first post I am the only account holder in both my OSX volumes, Tiger and Snow Leopard, and in both I have Snow Leopard nominated as the start-up volume. Also, in my Windows XP partition (on the same hard disk as Snow Leopard) I have Snow Leopard nominated as the start-up volume in the Boot-Camp control panel. So everything I can think of in every volume on my machine is pointing towards "start in Snow Leopard", only it seems to be having trouble doing that.
As I mentioned before, if I command a restart it works OK, but if the machine is off and I press the button I get the grey screen and I have to power it off with the button then boot with the Option key to see the three volumes.
Disk Utility - Repair Disk run from my installation disk or from my hard disk reports that the disk appears fine. I have repaired permissions from my hard disk to the point that it doesn't report any repair at all.
The MacPro used to start up fine but something has changed, only I have no idea what. I was hoping someone here might be able to tell me it's this or that.

I can power on and power off with the power button but nothing else happening. Tried many many times but nothing happen.

    Appreciate any help, Thank You.

    Hi Hatter,
I tried both the SMC reset by pressing the SMC reset button and removed all the cables and wait for one minutes and connect them back by both did not worked.
The Mac pro not able to boot up so I am not able to able to perform Apple hardware test. I have tried slide open the DVD cover and use a pin to eject the tray and insert the AHT disk into it but it just will not boot up so nothing much can be done although I did heard the DVD was spinning after I pressed the Power button but stopped after that.
Could it be a logic board problem? This Mac Pro just one month passed the one year warranty so Going back to Apple Service Center can be a costly affair. Appreciate any other useful advice.
    Thank again.

  • My Powerbook will not power up, but I can hear the fan running...

Please help!! My Powerbook will not power up, but I can hear the fan running when I press the power button to attempt to power it up. I just received a new power adapter because it wasn't working properly and it was doing this before and then it worked for a week and now it will not power up at all. It just starts the fan but nothing else turns on. When I plug the adapter, with the battery still connected, it will look as if it is charging but then the light on the plug turns from green to orange then off and doesn't power up at all. If I take the battery out and plug in the adapter, the light stays on but it does not power up except for the fan noise. Does anyone have any suggestions? I also followed the two articles listed online in regards to resetting the power setting and the command + alt + P + R as well. Nothing works. Thanks in advance.....

Same here. If I start up with the power adapter attached, it starts up fine. If I try to start up from battery only, the fan comes on, the sleep light comes on but nothing else happens. I tried letting it sit that way for about 15 minutes and nothing changed. I tried attaching the power cord while in this mode and nothing changed. I tried the PMU reset a couple of times but nothing helps.
This computer is just over 1 year old and I have not had any problems with the power cord (3rd party), the battery, or any problem like this before. It started after a proper shutdown last night and attempt to start without the power cord this afternoon.
