V5-571P screen hinge

Hi All, I've had my Aspire V5-571P for a while and I love it.  However with heavy use over the last few years, naturally the screen hinges suffer a little bit. My predicament is that the hinge is fine, but the actual connection (be it glue, or screws) between the screen and the case have become worn and eroded, to the point where the hinges can only support the screen at a certain angle. Picture (not sure why its rotated..):  So the top of that hinge would usually be connected or welded in some way to the screen casing. My question is what do I need to do to fix it, and am I able to order any parts so that I can install it manually myself? Thanks.

My left screen hinge has for some time now been tearing apart the base of the laptop. I purchased it back in June of 2013 and do not know what is wrong. My laptop freezes when trying to boot as well now due to this problem. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I can not afford to replace this laptop at this time.

  • MacBook Pro Screen Hinge Tightened?

Can anyone confirm that the new MacBook Pro's (purchased recently) have the screen hinge tightened?

I have a new MacBook Pro 15" produced in 2008, week 51. It has this same problem with the hinge. As long as the MacBook is sitting flat, the screen will stay put. However, if the base of the MacBook is tilted at 45 degrees or more the screen will close until it is a couple of inches from being fully closed.
Many people don't care about this and ask why anyone would want to do that. However, for me and others who like to use their MacBook while lying on a bed with knees drawn up, this presents a problem. I consider this lack of tension in the new MacBook Pro hinge to be a design flaw.
I've tried this with older 13" MacBooks and older 15" MacBook Pros (from early 2008) and none have this problem. Those models have stiff hinges that hold their position no matter the orientation of the MacBook.
Has anyone learned whether or not it is possible to adjust the tension in the hinge? I have heard of people having the hinges tighted in older MacBook Pros but I have not heard for the latest MacBook Pro models.
    Thanks,
    John

  • Satellite Pro A300D-131 - warped casing and screen hinge scratches

Has anyone experienced a warped casing around the power button, mine is raised a good 1-2mm.
I also notice that the screen hinge clearance between the hinge and body is so tight that the silver effect finish it scratched to bits. The laptop is only a couple of months old and it looks decidedly tatty already, it just looks like poor case design.
    I have Satellite Pro A300D-131.

I have Satellite A300 in front of me. The notebook belong my girlfriend and it is about two months old. I have checked described areas and I didnt notice anything unusual.
To be honest I do not like this new Toshiba design because I like to have most of the ports on the back side but this new design has made by Toshiba to have more stabile screen hinges.
If you really think there is some serious problem I recommend you to contact nearest authorized service provider. They should take a look and give you advice what to do.
Discussing here on the forum will not help you much.

  • Tecra M5 - How to remove Screen Hinges

    Hi,
I need to replace the screen hinges (well one of them anyway)
I have the maintenance manual and hte computer in bits.
The manual says "Remove the hinge (left) while sliding and turning it." but no matter how hard I wiggle/slide/turn I cant get it out.
Same problem with the one on the other side.
Anyone ever done this and have any tips or know of an instructional video somewhere?
    TFAI

Hhhmmm - I'm not sure. Yes, of course, you can screw up and I wouldn't do it on stuff that was precious but this is the first time I've been stumped and I've done a CPU, a fan, a reflow with a hot air stripper and a couple of new screens over the years all on the basis of the manuals. Jolly good they are too.
Anyway, if I don't find an answer in a couple of days, i'll reverse the repair process (I was going to replace the entire section but now I'll have to take some bits (speakers, touchpad etc) out of the replacement part and put them in the original and hope the rest works :-)
Anyway, I'll post again if I find the answer to the hinge problem.
    Thanks for your interest

  • HP DV6 Screen hinge broke

    Hi,
I have a HP Pavillion DV6-3225dx running Windows 7 (64 bit). The left screen hinge is broken, there is a threaded metal tube that came out and some of the plastic of the sides have broken off too. I haven't made any physical modifications to the computer. It is out of warrenty (ended April 2012). Is there any way that I can fix this without forking over a ton of money?

You can perhaps find the hinges cheaper on ebay....I grabbed the first one I could find but I saw single hinges as low as $7. The job is modestly difficult. The manual will show how to do it. Replacing the hinges will stop the plastic damage. However, if the mounting points for the hinges is damaged, you will be forced to buy a new lower casing which is a little expensive. Otherwise, you do not have to replace the lower plastic casing but you may want to do it for aesthetic reasons. If you have to replace the lower housing, the big job becomes a really big job.

  • Screen hinges loosen fast?

I got my powerbook g4 last april. The screen was always loose, just never took it in. I took it in last Feb. Then took it in again a few weeks ago. I know the display will be loose by the end of the month. The warranty will run out april 7th. I know that there is a 90 day warranty on each repair. I was wondering if anyone else with the Power Book G4 15" Aluminum have been experiencing these issues with the display hinges, also instead of just repairing, which will just continue for A very long time will they give me store credit or replace it?
    Thanks for the help.

The reason that im not getting applecare is that it is $350. Also own a ibook G4 use it very much, and the screen hinges are very tight on it after 3 years. Do you suggest I call apple on it? I mean I have A 8yr old gateway laptop that I used to use so much, and the screen is still very tight on it. It really bugs me how much I will need to take it in to apple. I know that this is the major weak spots on most laptops, but it seems like the powerbooks (at least mine) is very bad. I take very good of this power book. Thanks for the help.

  • Satellite Pro A - Screen hinges compatible with M series?

Does anyone know if the screen hinges for a Satellite A series would be compatible with the M series?

  • U430 Touch Screen Hinge

I got the Lenovo U430 Touch in late August and have noticed that the screen hinge wasn't very sturdy but it was still working fine. But today the hinge is broken and I can't close the screen properly without adjusting it. I didn't drop it or damage it and I looked it up and saw that other people were having similar issues and saying it was a production failure. Is there anyway I can get a replacement or do I have to send it in for repairs? I'm in college and I'll be needing it for a couple more weeks so I can't send it in for repairs yet. And is the $99 fee not covered by the warranty? I called Lenovo support and they said they can't look at my laptop until I pay the fee. I feel like the quality of Lenovo has declined recently. Any help would be appreciated.

This just happened to me this morning! For those of you that were working with it broken for a while...did the break impede your daily use in any way beyond the inconvenience of the hinge function? I'm teaching in Romania right now (ironically, I bought this model specifically so it would be easier to travel with) and won't be back home in the U.S. for over a month so I can't exactly send it to be fixed right away. Am I going to damage it further if I keep using it? Edit: I'm also out of warranty, AND I noticed a month or two ago that my screen stop auto-rotating whenever I tried to flip it (which wasn't often at all, so I still don't know why my hinges would break so suddenly). Am I going to end up paying for these repairs?

  • U430 Touch Screen Hinge Issue

    Hi,
I have U430 Touch Screen Hinge issue, but lenovo service agents are not responding even if I give them the reference of below forum. Can you please help me resolve this issue as the laptop is under warranty (bought on december 2014)and it was not damaged. It was used last night and then just closed and kept on the bed. When I returned and tried opening it, I had this hinge issue. Please help me get this issue resolve at once.

Hi, This is the third time I called them but they are persistent that it is not cover under warranty for U430T. I do understand that if it is an accidental damage then it will not be covered. But my point is, from my end, there was no damage on the laptop and simply closed it and tried opening it after a while caused it. Furthermore refering to the post link, it is mentioned by Amy Tuper that if it is under warranty and cause is not by damage contact support. It is also mentioned that Lenovo launched an investigation in which it was concluded that there was mount failure on this model. So, my question is, isn't there a possibility that this defect could have been the mount failure issue ? Last call, they state that it is just for U530T even when the post says it is for both U430T and U530T. People on the same post have posted that they got it repaired by Lenovo for free. I am not sure what to believe, the post posted by Lenovo or the support service ? Can you please escalate the issue as it is hampering my day to day work. Awaiting reply from your end.

  • HP mini pc screen hinges and cables

    Hello.
I have a hp mini pc (qh072ea) and the screen is only working when I have it in one position or if I`m veeery careful when opening the screen. If I move the screen it turns white.
Except from this annoying problem the computer is just fine.
I have a warranty on this computer, but the workshop says the mainboard is broken because of water, and gave me a giant bill to fix it (ca 400 dollars, more then I bought it for) or pay for the check they had ca 100 dollars, since the warranty does not cover water.
I find this very weird, because its never been outside or near water, and it seems to me that the whole problem is in the hinges, maybe a cable is worn out and bad contact.
Is this a typical problems on this computers? I think the workshop is just saying this to not cover the damage.
Can HP help me with this case? Banging my head against the wall here.

  • Portege M100 screen/hinge problem

I have a Portege M100 and have a slight problem with the screen
The left screw has come out & been lost. This has left the screen very "wobbly" and it seems to have popped out of a catch or two, just on the left side as the case/back of screen seem to gape slightly from the front at times down by the hinge.
I would like to try to replace the screw & get it back to "normal" but I can't find any instructions or advice as to how the screen fits - can anyone help me to clip it back together & rplace the screw?
(please don't make comments about how old it is, it's what I have & I can't afford to replace it at the moment!)

    Hi
I think there are no manuals or instructions how to replace something on a notebook. Such technical documents are not for public, they only available for authorized service provider.
So I would recommend an ASP because there you can also get the right spare part for your notebook and the technicians help you to repair it. :)

  • 2008 Macbook Air Screen Hinge Problem

Hi all, so my 2008 Macbook Air's hinge got a little loose, and I was told Apple would replace it for free, so I took it to them. HUGE MISTAKE. After the hinge was replaced the screen didn't fully line up when the laptop was closed and the screen started going out like once every 2 weeks, but only for like a tenth of a second so I never really thought it was a problem. It never did this before Apple fixed the loose hinge. About 6 months after the hinge was replaced, it started doing it daily, and shortly after that it did it every time I open the laptop, so now it officially is a problem for me. I brought it back to Apple and they told me that I would have to pay for an expensive new repair or buy a new laptop, even after I explained to them that the laptop was perfectly fine before they replaced the hinge. They said I should have come within 3 months, but I was back at school and it was not a problem at all then, nor did I think it would be. I brought it to a 3rd party repair shop and they did not open the laptop but they said it looks like the screen cable is being pinched by the new hinge since it is not lined up perfectly. Is there anything that can be done or do I have to buy a new laptop?

I'm a college student with no car or Apple store nearby and the laptop was shipped back to me because of that. If I had to go another week without a laptop that would have been disasterous, but more importantly I had no way of knowing it would stop working or that the slight misalignment was anything other than cosmetic, I'm no tech genius and I clearly wasn't the one who put the laptop together wrong. It wasn't even my fault the hinge got loose in the first place! Sigh, I suppose if they can't make this right I hope I can learn to use Windows.

  • Screen hinges are to loose

Today I opened my ibook lid and it made a pop noise when it was about a 90 degree angle and now the screen is extremely loose, I found the pop noise is going from the back of the laptop at the seem, when it gets to about 90 degrees the case separates then goes back together making a popping noise.

    Hey Colton,
I took it apart and on the right side the flap that connects to the rod was snapped so looks like need to replace the frame,
so that is the hinge leaf that screws to the lower case? The pdf I'm looking at shows that leaf and two clinch points where it clinches to the axle. Is that axle still fastened firmly to the display frame? I believe it's fastened with rivets.
If it's still firm you might only need the hinge itself. You can force the broken clinched parts off the axle if it's still firm to the upper bracket. Even if they're loose you could repin them. I've seen the hinges for sale on eBay.
    Here's some for a 12.1" G4:
    http://tinyurl.com/yrmvg6
It's $23.50 buy it now shipped.
It's the whole assembly so mute point about the hinge.
also who ever owned the computer before me took it apart and did some damage to the frame, top case, and the mic wire so whats the best way to fix the mic wire? It was cut clean were it enters the hinge on the left side like it was rubbed into two.
If you're good at soldering you'd strip the broken leads and solder them back together. I've got a 500 G3 and a 1.33 G4 here. The 1.33 is different and the wire in the 500 looks like 3 very tiny wires. One I suspect would be the shield.
I don't know if I have shrink tubing that small. Maybe stagger the two internals and use 1 shrink over them then shrink over the shield.
You seem to have a good knowledge of the internals of your machine.

  • Small hairline crack near screen hinge. Fix?

I just noticed that my 2010 white Macbook has a 3/4" hairline crack on the outter part of the screen/lid right by the hinge. It's not really affecting how the computer functions or anything. But it really bothers me. My warranty runs out on Jan 20th 2012. Will the warranty cover this?

If it matters, I didn't purchase additional AppleCare coverage on this one. It just has the 1 years limited warranty that it comes with.
