V570 - unable to toggle brightness despite installing newest Intel HD Graphics 3k Drivers

I'm not entirely sure what happened to my machine, it used to work when I got it out of the box. I was able to toggle the brightness higher/lower, but now it stays maxed out. By brightness, I mean the LCD display backlight is at full brightness. I am unable to turn it down by pressing FN + Down Arrow as well.

Basically, whenever I try to press FN + Up or Down arrow it stays there and is unable to change. I think this is some kind of problem with Windows Drivers, as I have tried to load my Ubuntu Linux distro and was able to change the brightness there. I know it's not a hardware issue, it's most likely a software issue. I have tried re-installing my graphics drivers many times, and I know my Intel Integrated HD 3000 Graphics Driver is up-to-date.
If you have any suggestions or advice, please leave a reply below. Oh, I am tech-savvy so I will be able to follow your replies, there will be no need to dumb it down for the average electronics consumer!

This affects all 470/570 models.
If you want the On Screen Display to work, either roll back your Intel HD 3000 display drivers to the original Lenovo driver, or download the display driver from the Lenovo site.
Note: The Windows update site WILL install newer versions of this driver, so you may run across this problem again. To make sure it doesn't, exclude the Video update when you do the procedure. (make hidden).

After I installed the "Intel Corporation - Graphics Adapter WDDM1.1, Graphical Adapter WDDI1.2, ..." dated September 2 2014 using Windows Update, the screen on my W540 has permanently remained at maximum brightness and reducing/adjustning brightness can neither be done using the keyboard buttons nor the panel under Windows 8.1 Update 1. The only thing I could do was to rollback the driver using the Device Manager, but then Miracast does not work anymore.
Do some of you experience the same problem and have you found a suitable solution for it?

I have encountered this problem as well. First, you have to download the latest Optimus graphics driver. Then go to add/remove programs and remove all nVidia applications and the Intel graphics driver (don't do anything with device manager). Restart the computer, and then install from that file you downloaded. Restart again and it should be working.
You pretty much have to use Lenovo's drivers since you are running optimus. Never manually update either the Intel or nVidia or you will encounter problems like the brightness control.

Hi: Normally that means the graphics drivers are missing. I do not see any W10 graphics drivers listed on your notebook's support page, so see if these work... 1. Install the Intel chipset installation utility and reboot. Unable to use ctx_doc despite Oracle Text installation

We're using Oracle 9iR2.
I'm in need to convert a Long Raw column to readable text. I've managed to convert it to CLOB and it now gives me an RTF encoded string.
I've read on several forums that this RTF string can be converted to readable text using the CTX_DOC.FILTER or CTX_DOC.IFILTER functions. But despite Oracle Text 9.2.0.1.0 being successfully installed (by OUI), there ain't any CTX_DOC packages. I'm getting the error:
"PLS-00201: identifier 'CTX_DOC.IFILTER' must be declared".
Even running as database administrator, I'm not able to run this function.
Can anyone help us in making this work? I've posted in the wrong forum before (PL/SQL) but their tips didn't work: unable to use ctx_doc despite Oracle Text installation

Can you try some things just to confirm if you have a proper installation and configuration? Do you have a ctxsys user? Can you connect as ctxsys then describe ctx_doc? Please see the following section for configuration instructions:

Do a backup, preferable 2 separate ones on 2 drives. Boot to the Recovery Volume (command - R on a restart or hold down the option/alt key during a restart and select Recovery Volume). Run Disk Utility Verify/Repair and Repair Permissions until you get no errors. Reformat the drive using Disk Utility/Erase Mac OS Extended (Journaled), then click the Option button and select GUID. Then re-install the OS.

Try this - Disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily. Then download and install the iOS update.
After you install iOS 5.x, the next update can be installed when connecred via wireless.

IOS6 unable to toggle flashlight on/off while recording videos

Ever since upgrading to iOS 6 from 5 on my iPhone 4S I am unable to toggle flash/on or off while I am recording videos. In previous iOS versions I was able to record and toggle the flash to on or off as I see fit without having to stop the recording.
is there something I am missing here?

I do not hold out much hope for the popup solution.
Popups are a problem because they have no background, and that is the only place you can put graphics that are not subject to the highlight limitations.
But Blu-ray highlights are higher bit depth. Make sure you select rich color in menu properties. I do NOT know if this applies to popups, but I think it should.

What is our client really trying to do? If it is a promo piece, you would normally have the logo etc in all the time, or at particular points that are determined strategically. Perhaps he/she can't make up their mind? I would also consider a 3 video version: with, without, and strategic on/off.

Installed newest iTunes. iTunes screen has NO menus at all. All menus missing along with all music info and song titles. Any thoughts?

Thank you Alan and know you are right. I really can do all I need with my netbook and ereader and do not need the ipad. I think I just wanted something new and felt I may enjoy using it a lttle more than the netook. But it would be a waste just to buy one when I donlt acutally need it And, donl't think it is worth the extra money for me the get the 4g wireless capability since I doubt I would really need it often.
I may treat myself to the Ipad for the color, touchpad and fun to use but it is very expensive considering how little it will do for me no more than the things I want it for. It woudl be and expensive luxuray, I can do without. I actually need t learn how to use more of the function avaiable first. Maybe I should take up playing games and learning to take digital pictures so I can at least load them. If I could learn to do that and take a decent picture, I could start selling back all the "stuff" I have purchased on ebay. haha - I do have a nice doll collection, I would like to sell. I just do not have room for anything else. That was the primary purpose for the Kindle Ereader I bought and enjoy so much,
But, I will hold onto the thought for a while and see how it goes and what other comments I get, If I think I cannot live without it, then I will have to rethink which one to buy, I coud get the 32 g if I did not have to pay for the 4g wireless. And, if I knew I could get help to teach me how to use and enjoy all the functions, I would give it more serious consideration. My granddaugther got one for Christmas and that was what got me interested in it. I love the size of the screen and it had good color and was fast. She even had an application where she could write her notes and it would convert into typed words. That was a neat feature, If you could print it?

Entry point errors can often be fixed by deleting the offending dll, then repairing the component it is part of. CoreMedia.dll is part of Apple Application Support.

Knock on wood, this seems to have been my problem as well. I stumbled on this thread after dealing with this ridiculously-long boot times for the past several weeks.
I just reinstalled McAfee Antivirus and my Macbook Air booted up in less than 1 minute. No more hanging on the boot-up progress bar. No more hanging after I click on my user's avatar on the log-in screen. Bootup would often take 5+ minutes and sometimes never complete.
This has been SUPREMELY frustrating.
