V6.1.0.1 Updgrade and v61.0.0.10 patch, which one is higher?

It says on the documenation that v6.1.0.1 includes all the patches up to v6.1.0.0.9.
Would the v6.1.0.0.10 overrwite some of the v6.1.0.1 (DLL and DB records). Same applied to 11, and 12.
I am confused which one is higher, v6.1.0.0.10 or v6.1.0.1. In my mind, any patch released after v6.1.0.1 should be followed the 6.1.0.1 to avoid confusion.

6.1.0.1 is higher than 6.1.0.0.10 and therefore 6100.10 should not be deployed to an environment running 6101.
I agree that, in general, patches are always released for the latest maintenance release available. But, there are always exceptions.
- security patches, like 6100.11 and 6100.12, must be released for every version that is currently supported. This is done through a Critical Patch Update (CPU)
- 6100.10 is directly related to 6100.9, discovered and resolved in 6101, and then back ported to 6100.

  • Difference between EAI and SOA? when to use which one?

    Hi,
Please share this information, What IS EAI and What is SOA? why they came and what its use, and when we have to use which of these?
    Thanks.

EAI is the mother of all the integrations. EAI acts as a connector and can integrate at large scale however SOA is another integration technique which is used for small scale integration. SOA is an approach to have software resources in an enterprise available and discoverable on network as well defined services. Each service would achieve a predefined business objective and perform discrete units of work. The services are independent and do not depend on the context or state of the other services. They work within distributed systems architecture.

    IMO best is to
    1) tune the query to minimize time and resource use;
    2) set the undo_retention to size the undo tablespace for the required 'consistent read' rebuild requirements;
    3) set the retention guarantee appropriately
    4) size the undo tablespace based on the required size, probably dictated by 2)
Why is this an 'either one or other' question? When driving a car and looking for best fuel efficiency, you tune up the car, drive properly AND use the right fuel. You don't just pick one and leave it at that.

  • Windows plain and 64-bit CC installed. Which one gets launched?

I have both InDesign CC and InDesign CC 64-bit installed on my Windows machine.  My System info says I'm running a 64-bit system.  When I launch ID CC, which application gets launched?  What are the requirements to take advantage of the 64-bit architecture?  Is it more memory?  Can I uninstall the non-64-bit application?  I don't see incredible speed increases with CC for Win.

It is very strange that users are forced to install both the 64-bit and
32-bit versions, and that there's no way to uninstall one of them. I
don't have such a strong opinion as Bob as to whether they should
actually drop the 32-bit version altogether -- that's something which
Adobe can decide. But definitely the user should have a choice! It just
seems quite shoddy to force us to use up our hardware resources to
install two versions of the same app for no reason without being able to
uninstall one. Plus the issues, as you say, of not obviously knowing
which app is being launched when you double-click a file.
I also posted a while back about more shodiness along these lines - the
brand new Adobe Exchange packager (which packages producers' scripts for
the brand new Adobe Exchange) actually fails to target the 64-bit
version of InDesign CC. Meaning that you can package your script, target
InDesign in Exchange Producer, not get any warnings, have your
submission "vetted" by Adobe, only to get users emailing you about why
your script doesn't appear inside the CC 64-bit script panel. I haven't
heard whether they've fixed that yet. So the lack of clarity about what
is being installed seems to reach right inside Adobe.

  • First iMac and I dont have a clue which one to buy :(

I have seen the light and now looking to buy a second hand Apple iMac 4,1. The specs are
    Intel Core Duo 1.83GHz  2MB L2 Cache
    2GB 667MHz RAM
    160GB Hard Drive
    17" screen.
    Tiger10.4.11
My friend wants £200 for it which seems a good deal...but i dont know much about iMac's, as I have had windows based pcs for many years.
I do a lot of video editing and my widnows PC just cant cope at all, constant crashing and performace issues.
    so my questions are
Is this sutible for HD/SD video editing and what software would you recommend ? Anyone have any slow down or performance problems ?
I will have to upgrade the HDD as 160gb is far to small, whats the largest HDD i could install and is it any more difficult to fit then a PC ?
    Thanks
    Donna

It isn't a bad deal but it probably isn't a good deal for you. I have its big brother (so to speak) in my guest bedroom for visitors to use while they are with us. I have upgraded it to Snow Leopard and have Photoshop Elements 8, as well as Office 2008, a few games, and other programs. Back when it was my main computer, about 3-4 years ago I even did some video editing in iMovie.
But as captfred said, Snow Leopard is as far as you can take it which means in about 18 months you are likely to see software coming out that it cannot use. Already it is too slow for the newer versions of video editing software (unless you intend to use iMovie). The drive is too small which isn't a deal killer - for the last year or so I was booting mine from a 500GB FireWire drive.
But I strongly urge you to look elsewhere. The good deal your friend is offering would make a very good second computer for the household. I don't think it begins to fit your needs. BTW - Apple's refurbished computers are generally top notch. They tend to be returns as opposed to used. They come with a full year warranty and are elligible for AppleCare extended warranty just like a brand new computer.

  • I have a Macbook pro with Retina Display, and need to get bootcamp. Which one should I get so I can install Windows 7?

I have to have windows so I can use CAD and photoshop for my classes. Any suggestions?

Boot Camp Assistant is in your Utilities folder. You will have to purchase Windows somewhere. Preferred would be 64-bit Windows 7.
    Windows on Intel Macs
There are presently several alternatives for running Windows on Intel Macs.
         1. Install the Apple Boot Camp software.  Purchase Windows
XP w/Service Pak2, Vista, or Windows 7.  For Boot Camp
4.0 and above you can only use Windows 7 or later. Follow
instructions in the Boot Camp documentation on
installation of Boot Camp, creating Driver CD, and
installing Windows.  Boot Camp enables you to boot the
computer into OS X or Windows.
         2. Parallels Desktop for Mac and Windows XP, Vista Business,
Vista Ultimate, or Windows 7.  Parallels is software
virtualization that enables running Windows concurrently
             with OS X.
         3. VM Fusion and Windows XP, Vista Business, Vista Ultimate,
or Windows 7.  VM Fusion is software virtualization that
enables running Windows concurrently with OS X.
         4. CrossOver which enables running many Windows
applications without having to install Windows.  The
Windows applications can run concurrently with OS X.
         5. VirtualBox is an Open Source freeware virtual machine such
as VM Fusion and Parallels that was developed by Solaris.
It is not as fully developed for the Mac as Parallels and VM
             Fusion.
Note that VirtualBox, Parallels, and VM Fusion can also run other operating systems such as Linux, Unix, OS/2, Solaris, etc.  There are performance differences between dual-boot systems and virtualization.  The latter tend to be a little slower (not much) and do not provide the video performance of the dual-boot system. See MacTech.com's Virtualization Benchmarking for comparisons of Boot Camp, Parallels, and VM Fusion. Boot Camp is only available with Leopard or Snow Leopard. Except for Crossover and a couple of similar alternatives like DarWine you must have a valid installer disc for Windows.
You must also have an internal optical drive for installing Windows. Windows cannot be installed from an external optical drive.

  • My older iPod Touch has music from another Apple ID, but I have had multiple other Apple IDs and I can't find out which ones they are from.  I would also like to know how I can copy the music and have it saved to my computer as an audio file.

So I have an iPod Touch, 2nd or 3rd gen., and it has music synced from multiple Apple IDs. I need to know how to copy that music as an audio file to save on my computer.

You can copy iTunes purchased from a device to your computer's iTunes library via File > Devices > Transfer Purchases - if the account is authorised on your computer's iTunes then you should be prompted to authorise it when trying to copy them.
Or there are programs listed half-way down this page which can copy them back : Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device
You can then add them to your iTunes library via File > Add To Library, again you should be prompted to authorise the account if it's not already authorised.
You can also find the account that a track is tied to be selecting/highlighting it in the My Music part of your library, or the Music section of 'OnMy Device' when you select the device, and doing 'get-info' (command-i) - it will show on one of the tabs on the popup

  • Hi, I'd like to buy a 13 inch macbook air. My biggest concern is to get one that doesn't have high EMFs to it and that has low heat. Which one would you suggest? The older 2010, or the 2011 with the i5 chip or the newest with the i7 chip?

Hi, I would like to buy my first laptop computer, the 13 inch macbook air.
    My biggest concerns are:
    1. Which has the least amount of EMFs? I'm sensitive to that and have enjoyed my iPad (original) that has no EMF fields.
    2. Which runs the coolest?
I want the 128 gig one. Which would fit my requirments, the 2010 with the 2 Core Duo, the 2011 I believe it is with the i5 chip, or the newest one with the i7 chip? From the reviews I have read, it sounds like the one with the i7 chip runs the hottest.
I'm sure I am missing a whole lot of information, please fill me in!
    Thanks,
    Martha

Changing the 13 inch screen resolution will unfortunately result in a less sharp display, simply because all these type of displays have an 'native' resolution which gives optimal results, leaving other settings less crisp. The 13 inch MBA panel has a native resolution of 1440x900, which is remarkable for a screen of that size (I have 17 inch widescreen monitors at work with that same resolution) but it can certainly be set at a lower figure.
The one area where the trackpad has benefits over a mouse is that you can use multi-touch gestures, just as on the iPad. That's a feature I really like, particularly being able to zoom in and out and scroll up and down, though of course other gestures are supported too. As such then it does indeed work much like the touch screen capaibilities of an iPad.
If you have a Mighty Mouse the one with the tiny scroll-ball on the top-front, then they are notorious for scrolling issues due to getting clogged up. They're not hard to clean, but the Mighty Mouse is notably inferior to the later Magic Mouse, which doesn't have a scroll-ball or wheel, but uses the whole top panel for scrolling using gestures in much the same way as a trackpad. I've found a Magic Mouse a good investment for any Bluetooth-capable Mac (which of course includes all MBA models).
[ON EDIT]: The MBA doesn't come with Flash, but it is a free download from Adobe, and is very simple to install. Just make sure you get the installer from Adobe.com and not any other location since there is some malware which masquerades as a Flash installer but is not safe to install! Beware though that Flash is very processor intensive, and if anything will run the MBA fans up to speed, and heat the system up, it is that.
    Good luck with the readings!!

  • MIDI CONTROLLERS WHICH ONE WOULD YOU CHOSE AND WHY?

    Between M-Audio 8v2 , M-Audio 02 , M-AUDIO 49E and M-Audio axiom 25. Which one of these would you choose and why?

    The Axiom 25.
For the rotary encoders, pads and memory.
I'd take this over the 49 because both of the keyboards will be pitiful and your better of getting a full size board with hammer action if its about the "piano" feel. These things are great to have at hand when fiddling with synths while setting up in logic.

I have two separate itune accounts under two different email accounts and would like to combine them under one account.  Is this possible and if so, how do I do it?

If you go to Settings > iTunes & AppStore , you can sign out from your account, and sign in with the one you've used to purchase apps. This will not remove any apps you already have on it.
Then you can go to AppStore and download apps you've purchased (either via "Purchased" button in "Updates", or simply search for them and download them.
That way you can have multiple accounts' apps on your iPad. When updating, you will be prompted for the credentials for account you've purchased given App with.

  • I think I have 2 itune accounts open and would like to consolidate them into one -don't know my user name of the one account how can I consolidate these

    Anyone have any ideas?

Sorry, the forum is not letting me post links.  You will need to add the https stuff to the start of this --> iforgot.apple.com/
To identify an account used to purchase an item:
In iTunes, select one of the items purchased from the iTunes store. Click on "Purchased" under iTunes store on the left side of iTunes.
    Right click --> get info.
On the Info tab will be the Apple/iTunesID used to purchase the item.
You cannot combine accounts.  Anything bought with one will permanently be associated to that account.  Decide which one will be your main one and just use it.  Keep stuff from the other backed up so you don't have to log into that account again unless essential.

  • I am using my MacBook for person and work purposes.  Will I overload it and cause it to crash? And how can I finance a new one without paying all upfront?

I am afraid that my computer won't be able to hold all of my files for work and personal use. Will it?  And if I get a new notebook strictly for work, how can I finance it without paying all upfront?

It would help to know which one of the 9 different models of MacBook you have. To see which model you have go to the Apple in the upper left corner and select About This Mac, then click on More Info (and then System Report if you’re running 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion). When System Profiler comes up check the Model Identifier and post it back here.
Rather than buying a MacBook Pro to replace your MacBook you can just get a bigger hard drive. You can get a 1tb drive for around $100 and they are easy to replace in a MacBook.
