V6: RoboHelp Menu Disappears

I'm running RH for Word 6 with Office 2003, and I'm consistently having problems with the RoboHelp menu in Word. Instead of getting the full list of items, I'm getting the RoboHelp toolbar. (See attached image.) I have also seen no menu (just the slightest shadow) and a menu with 4 options pertaining to hotspots/macros. I need to access the real menu to insert a non-scrolling region in a topic.
I read up on previous users who have posted about this problem (Captain Kidney, "RoboHelp menu is blank" 9/21/06 and David Robbins, "RoboHelp menu missing or weird toolbar!" 5/27/09), and based on the suggestions given to them, I did the following:
Reverted to my oldest backup copy of RoboHelp.dot
Tried to delete the PDFMaker.dot from Tools > Templates and Addins > Global templates and add-ins. I had no success because it wasn't there in the first place.
Completely uninstalled/reinstalled RH for Word and Office 2003. Of all my attempts, this was the most successful, but it fixed my menu for only a week or two. It broke again after I switched my project templates so I could work in a different project.
Tried to add the RoboHelp Non.Scrolling.Region macro to my toolbar in Word via Tools > Customize > Commands > Macros. I was able to add the macro to my toolbar, but changing from Yes to No for my topic several times (compiling each time) had no effect.
I understand (and agree) that RH for Word "is similar to a dying patient" (RoboWizard, "Re: RoboHelp menu missing or weird toolbar!" 5/28/09), and have already converted several projects to RH HTML, but I need help providing hospice care to this project in the meantime. Does anyone know how I can get my RoboHelp menu back and consistently maintain it until I can convert the project?

Nope. You'll get Launch RoboScreenCapture and Captivate
options in
your File menu along with a Save As PDF (Send for Review)
option; in
the Graphics menu you have 3D Menu and Edit with
RoboScreenCapture
options to reflect the TCS integration. FM doesn't push to
RoboHelp,
rather RoboHelp pulls in the FM content.

Dock and Menu disappear only for Safari

My dock and menu disappear only when I am using Safari. They re-appear when I hover my mouse at the location that they should be at, but for some reason their default positions are to be hidden.
The dock and menu are present for all other apps and when I'm on the desktop--basically whenever Safari isn't "chosen" as the active window.
I have checked to make sure that Safari is NOT in Full Screen mode. What could be the problem?

This has happened to me before and it took me a long time to work it out.
But all you need to do is froce quit safari or any application that this is happening to and start the application again.

[SOLVED] LXDE menu disappeared after update

After last update the menu entries in LXDE menu disappeared. There are only two entries, Logout and Run
Is there any way to restore the menu entries?

I did that, and my applications.bak directory contains lots of files with extension of .desktop

I tried that, but didn't have any pacman. I used apt-get to get it, and found myself playing pacman :-)
I tried
sudo apt-get install lxmenu-data menu-cache libfm-extra
and got the result:

4. launch panel from termian
if nothing helps start terminal stop lxpanel and start it again from terminal to see the output

When I run lxpanel (with the bare command, or as someone else suggested, with
lxpanel -p LXDE
) I get the error message

The panel starts OK, but still has only Run and Logout entries in the START menu.
I am running Ubuntu 13.04, accessing the server through tightvnc.
The file
~/.config/lxpanel/LXDE/panels/panel
begins with
# lxpanel <profile> config file. Manually editing is not recommended.
# Use preference dialog in lxpanel to adjust config when you can.
so I don't want to just add entries the function.
The preference dialog didn't seem to have a way for me to import other START menu entries.
Any help appreciated :-)

SAP Menu disappeared in GUI 7.10p4 after update from rel.6.20

you are my last chance!
I'm going to update the SAP GUI in all our PCs (about 1500) from rel 6.20 to 7.10 Patch 4. Our PCs are WinXP SP2. This is a requirement due to a system upgrade from 4.6c to ECC6.
I made some tests and I'm facing this problem:
in some cases, after the update, I run the GUI, log a userID and the SAP menu is disappeared! (as SAP Menu I mean the tree where you can see also your favorites)
All the other bars are OK but the SAP menu is missed...
I tried logging in with many userIDs but the result is the same.
I'll update the GUI using Tivoli Software Distribution but I'm scared about this problem.
Has anyone faced a same issue?

thanks for your information... I checked the file wdttree.ocx and the release is correct (7100.1.4.286). I also checked the file wdtrmenu.ocx and it resulted ok (rel. 7100.1.4.6). I tried to register the files but all was useless...
On the same PC, if I login into Windows with the local admin account (used for the GUI upgrade), I can see the SAP Menu, if I login into Windows with another admin account, the SAP menu disappears.
What do you mean when you talk about opening an "official" ticket? Can I open a ticket directly on the SAP's main web site?

60GB iPod Video menu disappeared after update

I just received my 60GB iPod yesterday. I downloaded the new software update from Apple and updated it. After I did that the Video option on my menu disappeared. I still have the video in itunes but it is not on my ipod anymore.
HELP! New user and this was a main purchase reason. Thanks for any assistance.

I have new ipod video and had issues so I used the updater that was included, dated 6/05, I now have a ipod video with software version 1.2 and it thinks it is an older ipod photo only. Now that it is installed in the ipod the updater assumes it is an older ipod and restore doesn't work (except to restore it to version 1.2) I am so frustrated I could scream. Apparently the new updater 10-05 is ok, as it would have restored to the correct software but now, it's too late! any ideas? What I need is a restore function that puts back in the version 1.0 software for the ipod video, but there is no such thing.

Entries in SAP BW Menu disappeared

After the upgrade of SAP_BASIS and SAP_ABA entries of SAP BW Menu disappeared. The situation is the same in development, quality and productive systems. We've checked under SAP_ALL authorization profile too.
Has anybody faced this problem? How can we solve it?

Menu disappears when accessing menu items in Web Dynpro

Hi friends,
I have a peculiar problem. I created a webdynpro application in WD for ABAP which displays a menu of Employee self services(ESS). In the window on the leftside the menu is displayed. if you click on any of the service name, the corresponding service will be displayed on the right side of the window. If another service is clicked, the previous service session will be logged out and the new service will be started in a new session. This is working fine.
But if the user clicks on two or more services alternately, for a random number of times, sometimes the menu disappears and the whole of the window is occupied by the service frame itself. Sometimes this happens for a second click itself and sometimes it doesn't happen at all. Some other times it happens after clicking the services for nearly 50 times.
It is difficult to test even because we do not know after how many attempts the menu will disappear and whether it will disappear at all.
Can anyone suggest a solution.

Hi Sujesh,
First create a menu. Add menu items and then bind the menu item events to view controller actions. Define an event parameter mapping if you need to determine the menu item that triggered the action, or use separate actions for the menu items.

Dropdown nav menu disappears when scrolling

Hi Guys,
I am fairly new to CC (my last version was MX), and as I lost a lot of time on joomla, have come back to Dreamweaver and am using a (purchased) template to kickstart things, which I now seem to be gettiing the hang of... except for an issue I have encountered with the horizontal dropdown navigation menu. At the (temporary) link provided below - whenever I hover over the "Sports" menu, the dropdown menu appears with the selection of various sports, below it (Archery, Baseball, Basketball etc) - but as soon as I begin to move my cursor down that list, the entire dropdown menu disappears completely - making any of the selections unreachable. It doesnt seem to happen so much with the Self Help menu, which has a much shorter dropdown selection. I don't think your problem is as much a z-index thing as it is a positioning thing. Your subnav is too far away from the parent link. Try this:

In Mavericks, why does my Safari menu disappear when I open it, then I have to use Force Quit to quit Safari?

Sounds like it's in full screen mode.
Press Control + Command + F to exit full screen mode.

File menu disappears when I switch applications.

I recently purchased Illustrator and I have a bizarre problem with the menu bar.
In Illustrator, whenever I switch to a different application on my PC, e.g. switch to Outlook or Excel which are already running, the file menu disappears!
As I hover my mouse over where the menu should be, it comes back bit at a time.
Has anyone encountered this before?

Bookmark folder drop down menu disappears

While using Firefox as of late, I've noticed a few things out of place.
Firstly, while browsing the web I tend to store a lot of bookmarks; recently while attempting to store new bookmarks in folders on the bookmark toolbar, as I drag the page to be stored as a bookmark the folder's drop down menu disappears. It's still possible to drop the bookmark into the folder, which then in turn makes it fall to the bottom of the list automatically; however, there are organized folders inside of folders so it's rather counterproductive.
The same thing happens when just clicking on a folder, the menu simply doesn't show up yet the "invisible" bookmarks may be interacted with by clicking on them -albeit randomly. After a few attempts, the menu will eventually appear but not always the first attempt. Quite frustrating.
Also, the memory used by Firefox seems a bit high; especially when opening various new tabs.
What should be done about this issue?

(1) Find (or create) the chrome folder. This is a folder in your currently active Firefox settings folder, also known as your Firefox profile folder.
Open the your profile folder using: Help > Troubleshooting Information
Windows: Click the Show Folder button
Mac: Click the Show in Finder button
Check for a chrome folder.
If it exists, double-click it to open it.
If it does not exist, create a chrome folder, then double-click it to open it.
(2) Create or Edit a userChrome.css file by adding a bookmark button rule.
Check for a userChrome.css file in the chrome folder.
If it exists, open it in a text editor and add the following lines, then save:
/* Force bookmark drop-down button display even with classic menu bar */
#bookmarks-menu-button {display:-moz-box !important}
If it does not exist, right-click the following link > Save Link As, and save into your chrome folder (or save in Downloads and drag to your chrome folder): http://www.jeffersonscher.com/res/userChrome-bookmarksbutton.css.
Then rename the file to userChrome.css.

Windows 8 Start Menu Disappeared Items

When I logged in my windows 8 I was surprised when I found that most of the tiles that were in my start menu disappeared even the desktop tile and the store tile.
I found an article that suggests downloading the apps shortcuts and pasting them in this folder
%ProgramData%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs
but when I opened this folder I was surprised again to find all my tiles shortcuts there
Nothing is missing at all even the desktop shortcut and store shortcut are there
So, what is wrong?
Why don't these apps show up in the start menu?
I don't remember doing any thing the last time I used my laptop except uninstalling and reinstalling Visual Basic 6

My carrier provides tethering service and I used it often so I don't think this is from network problem.
What I remember is that after I upgrade my iPhone to iOS 4.3.3 I once activated personal hotspot function and it was hanged.
So I reboot my iPhone and the menu disappeared. Is this another bug that is from iOS 4.3.3??

What is the exact wording of the error message you received?
Has your iPhone been jailbroken or modified to work with other
than the original wireless provider?

RoboHelp menu missing or weird toolbar!

running robohelp for word version 8 on Vista with office 2003. It was working, but suddenly when i open a document from the project explorer the RoboHelp menu is either missing or when i click on it i get a small toolbar of the robohelp tools where the menu should be. When the robohelp menu is missing i get the Adobe PDF and Acrobat Comments menus instead... also the extra menu items on other menus are missing. Usually if i open a 2nd document while the one with the Adobe menus is open i get the Robohelp menu with the toolbar instead of menu items. Weird. How do i get back to the proper menu???

I think you will find (As I did years ago) that you won't really miss the Word interface all that much. The RoboHelp HTML interface is very "Word like" and offers you capabilites that you would struggle with in Word.
The hardest change for me was that when I developed WinHelp, I was addicted to the Non-Scrolling regions offered by that output. They were like Crack to me! (I guess - I've heard it's something folks really struggle to break a habit from)
@Write Guy - I do agree with you. If a product is being marketed, it is expected to work. I wasn't being an apologist. I was being a realist and attempting to provide a heads up that an answer likely won't be forthcoming in rapid order as there probably would be if RoboHelp HTML were being used.
I think RoboHelp for Word is similar to a dying patient. It's on extended life support. There are still a few straggling relatives that visit from time to time, but most have said their goodbyes and are now awaiting the funeral. I didn't say that to imply I have any inside information. I don't. It's just a gut feeling. I've used RoboHelp since 1992. I started with RoboHelp for Word. Help authors used to scream bloody murder because eHelp would introduce updates and upgrades to RoboHelp too soon. What many didn't realize what the updates were often driven by Microsoft's changes to Word. So any time you can free up a product from a dependency upon another product you cannot control, it's good news and should be seriously considered.
As Colum said, Vista introduced the big scare into folks with their initial claims that WinHelp would stop working in Vista. But the 16 bit WinHelp works fine with Vista out of the box and if you want the 32 bit variety it may be had for the price of a brief download.
