V7.0.0.100 on Win7 - video button IN current call ...

I'll be IN a call, individual or group, flawless connection, and someone decides to switch to video. Fine, I can see them in video but they can't see me. On my end the video camera button is ghosted. If I go to Tools/Options/VideoSettings, after a moment it brings in a live view of me on my webcam. Returning to the call window, the button is still ghosted, so people cannot see me. Quitting the conversation and returning doesn't help, neither does rebooting the whole Skype program. BTW, in the Tools/Options/VideoSettings I have it set to Contacts-only but changing it to Anyone doesn't help. BTW#2, yes we are all in each other's Contact lists. Another thing, this is only true around 90% of the time, the other 10% it works fine. Is there some kind of toggle on my side? Could it be some toggle in the call HOST's settings?

Thanks for sharing your feedback and coming back to confirm video calls are working in general.
The icon on the button indeed should reflect "Webcam not activated" / "Webcam activated". If you move your mouse cursor above the button the tooltip should state what the button does in each state.

  • Video buttons no longer playing in preview or on a disc after adjustment was made in settings.

    Hello Folks,
I have been working on a few projects in Encore CS6 (Win7, 64bit) and using video buttons in menus without a hitch until now.
Recently, I found that my "Media Cache Files" were taking up my C: drive (which is an SSD and not large) and I changed this in options.
Edit->Preferences->Media-> I moved the default location (C:) of the "Media Cache files" and the "Media Cache Database" to a larger drive.
Since then, my video buttons (the ones that have video playing in them during a menu) no longer work in preview within the encore preview option or when I burn the project to a DVD.  The buttons are present and only show the first frame of the video to which they are linked.
I checked old projects and found that the video buttons still previewed properly. However if I added new video buttons to old projects, all the video buttons stopped playing/previewing video on them.
In pursuit of a reason for this, it appears that encore is using the new media cache location just fine, the folders are populated with files related to my newer projects.
I could find nothing on the net about this.  I do not wish to re-install, I believe I have to uninstall premiere to get encore off, and I have too many projects going right now for that.  (I do not have the room on the C: drive to continue to have the cache files there, and further, I bought other hard drives for this kind of thing.)
ANY thoughts are welcome, thank you for your time.
    Jer

    Stan, you are the man.
I missed that earlier and had no recollection of marking that button.  It is now checked and all works perfectly.
Thank you so much!  Best wishes and points for you!

  • High CPU usage (more than 100%) while running video applications

    Hello everyone,
I desperately need help with this.
    I have a late 2007 White Macbook running Mac OS X 10.6.8 :
    Model Name:          MacBook
      Model Identifier:          MacBook2,1
Processor Name:          Intel Core 2 Duo
      Processor Speed:          2 GHz
      Number Of Processors:          1
      Total Number Of Cores:          2
      L2 Cache:          4 MB
      Memory:          3 GB
      Bus Speed:          667 MHz
The issue that I am having is, whenever I play a video (Netflix/Silverlight player, YouTube, Skype, etc.) the CPU usage shoots up above 100% and the video or the video chat becomes VERY choppy. It becomes impossible to keep going once that starts. Originally I had 1Gb RAM (512 + 512) ... then I upgraded to (1GB + 512mb) ... it was fine for about a year and then started chocking on memory... so recently I made it (1GB +2GB) and that's when this high CPU  usage thing started (according to my knowledge)
I have had this machine since last 4 years and its very dear to me. I dont wanna buy a new one. I will really appreciate if someone could help.

I am spending sleepless nights, researching for a fix. From what I found so far, a considerable amount of people were able to fix this issue by simple cleaning the insides of their machines using air dusters, especially the fans. I don't know how cleaning would help with CPU utilization, but by interpolation, I feel it's worth a try. At least it will be clean, if not perfectly functional. lol
Now the next big challenge ahead of me is getting the screws on my Macbook open. I was following the Fan Repair Guide on ifixit.com. I went and got the #00 Phillips screwdriver as suggested in the guide... came home and found out the screwdriver is too big.... went back got a #0000 Phillips (I also found out that screwdrivers with same number might be of different sizes in different stores)... got a couple of screws out and then--- another road-block!! there are a few extremely tiny Phillips screws on my macbook. Now I am hunting for the smallest Phillips screwdriver in the world. Hopefully, I will find it in some watch repair or eye-glasses repair kit in a store such as CVS or Walgreens... aaaah... this is sooo frustrating!!! I just want to get his done so that I can check it off the list of probable solutions that I want to try. Will update here if this works.
From what you say, I think that the Silverlight upgrade might be the culprit in my case too. But the effect is there also for Youtube, Skype , or any other Video/Graphics intensive application that I use. Although, Silverlight/Netflix performs the worst among all the apps.
I love my Macbook... don't want to part with it.

  • Does the Video Button Action really work?

According to teh Adobe site, the Video button action should be functional:
I have not been able to get it to function so far. I am truing to get the button to play a video from a Navigation point. Am I doing something wrong (likely) or is the Adobe site incorrect.

Thanks Bob. That would be a great feature to add. I'm using DPS to create some interactive video applications and that would give me lots of new abilities.

  • ALL-PHOTOS-VIDEOS buttons don't work in iOS app

    Hi there!
I just downloaded the Revel iOS app which I found amazing! The best memories cloud storage solution I've found so far!
I found an issue with the app, when watching all the photos in a library, the ALL PHOTOS VIDEOS buttons don't work at all. They overlap the search bar. I'm using the app in an iPhone 6 plus.
Will you support the iPhone 6 and 6 plus resolutions? I see the latest iOS version is from July 31st 2014. I wouldn't want to use an app that is not updated!
    THanks!
    Chris

    Hi Chris,
Adobe isn't responding to requests for information about the future of the iOS app, or even the future of the service itself.  It's a shame for those of us who like the app/service, but you might be better off looking at a different photo service (before you get locked in).  For more information, check out these posts:

  • The video button does not activate on itunes when i connect the 30GB ipod

I have a 30GB ipod. when i connect it to the computer and start itunes, and go to the "ipod" tab, and then "video", after that, none of the video buttons are active (such as "actomatically update all videos"; "do not update videos" etc.
I have the latest version of itunes and have also updated the software on the ipod.
    Please help me.

That's because you must have the iPod under the Music tab set to either
1-automatically update songs and playlists or
    2-automatically update selected playlists
for the video tab to be accessible.
Once you select auto update then go to the video tab and select auto update or playlist update for videos.

  • IPhone video button not working

It snowed in Houston two days ago and I tried to take a video of it on my IPhone 4. I kept pushing on the video button but nothing worked. I found an IPad discussion that said if you had upgraded to OS7 then you needed to slide up and down. Well that didn't work on my IPhone so I tried side to side-low and behold that worked. Why doesn't Apple tell us these things???

We are just users like you and have no way of knowing why Apple does the things they do.

  • Video buttons not working ipad

ttapping play works, tapping again pauses - but I cannot slide the video button to FFWD or rewind since IOS 8 update.

    Hi Bob,
Thanks for your suggestion ! Yes, I already thought of that. But it would be much nicer to have control buttons and just one big video. But again, if it can't be done, it can't be done. And I will probably have to split the video if I want someone to be able to jump to the next chapter.
Now I am looking into the possibilities to use HTML5 to play the video, but I'm still trying to find out if HTML5 supports some kind of control buttons. If it does, the next step would be to try to insert HTML5 into my project (Overlay creator) and see if my Ipad can play this. I haven't got a clue, don't know anything about HTML5. But I'm ready to find out ... ;-)

  • Video Button Linked To A Menu Can't Be Animated?

I need help (if available to solve this problem)!
I am trying to animate a video button on a menu (M1) that linked to the next menu (M2). Although M2 has an animated menu background, the video button on M1 is a still picture of the M2 menu. My "solution" doesn't work: Insert a short clip between the two menus, so the button on M1 can be animated using a poster frame on this clip but link the M1 menu button to a chapter point added to the last second of this clip (and darkened so it wouldn't show). The problem is that setting a poster frame earlier than this chapter point (where the M1 menu is linked to) doesn't work. The M1 video button will start at the chapter point (last 1 second) and not at the poster frame.
Is there a solution for my problem? I would appreciate any help.
    Thanks in advance,
    Laci.
    (CS5 Encore.)

The Encore animated buttons are an example of an abstraction layer: there is no "animated button" in the DVD specs; Encore has the code under the hood to allow you to animate a button that is linked to a timeline - and only a timeline. I don't think this would work with a transition between menus, so I assume you are linking M1 (via a button) to a short timeline with an end action that takes it to M2. It is probably too short?
In any event, that's not what animated buttons do in Encore. Just do it the old fashioned way (without the Encore abstraction layer limitations). Just build the thumbnails into a motion background Then you can take them from any video source you want.

  • HT201401 Newbie here...Video Button Unresponsive

    Hi,
I hope someone can help me out. I finally saved up enough to get an iphone (although its only a 4). Anyways I have had it about a month and when the new ios7 update came out I updated it with no problems. Now, all of sudden when I am in camera mode and tap on my video button to record something it doesnt respond at all. I have recorded thing before and it worked just fine. I have gone to the Apple store and made sure the phone is updated and I have even tried going to "Settings" and reset the phone. Still will not respond. I am late jumping on the whole iphone bandwagon I know. I hope someone out there can help me figure this out because I really love the phone.

Ok, now I can see the replies. Oh my goodness, I feel like such a dork. The sliding works perfectly. Guess I just forgot how I did it before. Lots to learn. Thank you so much!

  • Skype video button gone?

Why is my skype video button gone?

    See this thread:

    FIX:
    1. You need Time Machine

    3. Copy AppleCamera.plugin to good place (usb memory stick is the best place).
    4. Go to Time machine in date that skype work fine.
    5. Change AppleCamera.plugin with file from Time Machine
    6. Restart system, Now skype need to work with camera.
    If that doesnt pass,
Suggest looking here, much success has been found:

  • Ichat consumes over 100% CPU in video chat mode.

    Hi,
I just updated my MBP (mid 2009) with new Snow Leopard. Ever since then, some of applications hangs, especially ichat, Mail, iphoto, safari.
Is it normal that iChat consumes over 100% CPU in video chat mode? Does everyone have the same problem?

Hello all. Ralph, I really appreciate all of your help on these iChat threads. I too am having the same issues with CPU overload on both of my Macbook Pro 2.16 GHz machines. I believe I may have traced the problem to older, non-Core 2 Duo chip computers such as mine. I have an iChat crazy family - lots of us spread across the country. The ones who have newer machines with a Core 2 Duo do not have this problem. They have super crisp, normal CPU usage (never exceeding 80%) chats. Sadly, this is not the case when I try with either of my Macbook Pro's running the older chips.
To clarify, I have also taken all of the steps mentioned here and in other threads to try to address the problem. I have reinstalled Snow Leopard, adjusted the maximum bandwith to as low as 200 kbps, tested my download, upload speeds, etc. Nothing seems to work. Ichat it essentially useless. I wish I had an answer for this issue. I assume Apple will address this in the next OS update.

  • TS3274 I can not get my video button to work

I can not get my video button to work, it will not response when I try to use it

Try sliding the words up or down to select the various modes.

  • HT2729 Why won't my video button work?

My photo button works fine, but when I press the video button, nothing happens.

Try closing the Camera app completely and see if you can record video when you re-open it : from the home screen (i.e. not with Camera 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Camera app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work then you could try a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the iPad equivalent of a reboot.

  • Photo Booth: missing "live video" button?

I was trying to use the iSight camera in my iMac with Photo Booth (v. 1.2) to snap a portrait of myself and I ran into a curious problem. After snapping a few shots and clicking on the thumbnails at the bottom of the window, I tried to return to live video to set up another shot and was unable to do so. The help file tells me to "click the Live Video button below the image." Problem is, the only button below the image, other than the app links, is the shutter button. Clicking this snaps another picture, with no opportunity to set up in live video mode. I had to close and re-start Photo Booth to get live video again. Am I missing something obvious here?

    Hi,
Manually click through the following folders
Home/Library/Preferences. Delete the com.apple.PhotoBooth.plist and restart Photo Booth.
This should return all the icons to the Tool Bar.
